Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also known as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a Kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit), or PIATLH (Tea light holder), PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage (Self explanatory)

ROC = Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Jizz in a bra = how we transport the jizz to the Sperm Queen

Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into TTC obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing a Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Ghost jizz/goat jazz - When the amazing foof sucks up all the jizz - achieved when coming at the same time/nearly the same time.

I use cloth pads too. I converted about six months ago (I use cloth nappies for DD in part because I hated the sweaty feel of disposable pads so it was a natural progression from that). I find them much more comfortable than disposable pads or tampons and a bonus is no rustling!

Elbi · 19/05/2017 16:14

Sofie I tried cloth pads but just couldn't get them clean! Confused Tried cold wash like they advised then normal wash when that didn't work... Any advice? Or good brands? Not that I'm hoping AF shows up for a while though...

Elbi · 19/05/2017 16:43

Also Snooze the Barbie cups 😂 I did the classic - laughed out loud and hubs was like 'Ooh what's funny?' When I told him I was in the Conception aisle of mumsnet he didn't push further...

SofiePendragon · 19/05/2017 16:57

elbi I just chuck them in the wash with our clothes and wash at 40. I figure, that's what I do if I leak, so just did the same. I think of them a bit like period pants to be honest, so I don't worry about a bit of staining Blush, but they always come clean. Sunshine's good for stains though if it worries you, or maybe try that pink vanish stuff before you wash? I've got some cheeky wipes ones which have charcoal bamboo which is dark coloured, so you can't see anything on those, and some imse vise ones which are really soft and comfortable. The charcoal bamboo is a bit like fleece which I find a bit weird but lots of people like them because you can't see the blood. They are lots of brands put there though, so I've taken to just slowly building a stash by buying one to try, keeping an eye out for offers to try out new brands. I bought a cup a few months ago as well and use that on heavier days, but I find the pads really useful for days when it's a bit stop start and as backup with the cup (still getting used to that)

SofiePendragon · 19/05/2017 16:58

Sorry, that was a bit of an essay!

Hobbit19 · 19/05/2017 19:05

Evening all. Yeah I couldn't post yesterday, typed the same thing 3 times! In summary: iced, dtd, used protection as womble is still recovering. Next month though!! Also if one was to get a positive opk for 2 days in a row, when would you count icing from? Asking for a friend.....

Has anyone tried those period pants?? Knickers that you just wear instead of a tampon....?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 19/05/2017 20:15

Eurgh having a bit of a moany-fucker evening.... slightly draining day at work then come home to DD 2y4m shouting "Go away bad Mummy" and soooo knackered.

Moany, moany Grin

What is everyone else up to tonight?

SofiePendragon · 19/05/2017 21:17

Pud re opk - I think you count from the first day as it's the rise that triggers ovulation, not the actual level iyswim. I believe it can take 2-3 days after a +ve opk before you ice anyway though.

Not seen or heard of period pants like that - are they disposable knickers? So basically adult size pull-ups? Hmm

Gx your womble is recovering well and.will be all ready fraction next month!

SofiePendragon · 19/05/2017 21:21

Johnny my dd has more than a few of those moments as well. I frequently get told to go away. This evening i've been told to sleep on the sofa as she only wants daddy in the bed not mummy.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 19/05/2017 22:22

Aww Sofie Sad but then mostly she is affectionate so I shouldn't be letting it get me down.

ScuttleBugHug · 19/05/2017 22:24

I've never heard of cloth pads, let alone period pants, wow this thread is so educational! 👩‍🎓Would period pants mean changing pants several times a day?!

Pud I hope you're recovering well, I'm in awe of your lack of anaesthetic! Gx for next month when you're fully recovered.

Johnny poor you, DC are so skilful at making us feel guilty, DS screams the house down and sticks to me like a limpet when I go to leave him with MIL to go to work, makes me feel utterly crap, but I always pause in the hall way once I've left the room and he stops crying and starts laughing within about 30 seconds!

I've not heard back from my specialist yet re whether it's normal to be having pain round my scar (and if so dare to start JSing) or if it needs properly checked out, will call his office again on Monday. No massive rush though, I'm on cd 21 and think I iced last week so got a while before I ice again.

Elbi · 20/05/2017 22:59

Good luck scuttle

I'm heading for the first ever unprotected shag of my life tonight and trying not to freak out...

LilSnooze · 20/05/2017 23:13

Exciting for you scuttle!! Gx that the results are fine and it's just the residual healing pain.

I have some hilarious period pants that have things like "cunt dracula" written on them. I use them when I'm on, but I use tampons as well because I don't feel comfortable going "free". Just makes me confident there will be no... leakage...

I think I'm out this month. I've done an OPK everyday since CD14 (yes I know I KNOW), now CD16 and I still haven't iced. Guessing coming off the pill fucked my cycle and I just won't ice this month. I didn't want to use any cuntraband but I wasn't getting any pant snot so wanted to know wtf was going on. May have iced early but doubt it :( Time to wait for AF and sulk I guess.

Elbi · 20/05/2017 23:41

Ah sorry Snooze :( Might just be late?

And I am yet to try period pants though am tempted to try the thong version for yoga so I don't worry so much about damp patches Grin

Viletta · 20/05/2017 23:50

Amen to the rules of this fred! I am also in #WaitToSee campaign, no POAS before af is missed!

pud I haven't tried them but they look ace, just very expensive.

elbi it's weird to start with isn't it? Happy shagging!

sofie useful info about cloth sanitary protection, thanks

johnny sorry you're feeling grumps. I'm away on a hen weekend so I've had a lovely evening. Just overtired and struggling to switch my brain off now, hence why I'm online!

scuttle good luck!

snooze could you have not ovulated yet? Or early? Keep shagging!

Hi viletta and welcome!

9dpo and I'm not thinking about it because I'm on holiday! Weyyy

Elbi · 21/05/2017 11:23

Ah missed your essay Sofie! Thank you, will try the charcoal bamboo ones - they sound good.

angelazul · 21/05/2017 11:38

Welcome Viletta

Never realised actual period pants existed Blush

I've got a bad case of the green eyed monster this weekend, SIL has had her baby. I've only seen photos so far, but she is a gorgeous little thing & looks very like hubby's family. His other sis has been telling all & sundry how excited she is to finally be an auntie - bit of a kick in the teeth that we haven't been able to make her an auntie despite 2 years of trying Sad But we go on hols on Wed, so there's a silver lining Smile

LilSnooze · 21/05/2017 19:04

pretzel Enjoy your holiday!!

angelazul I feel your pain. It's so horrible because you feel mean for not being more happy for them but it's so hard to share someone's happiness when you so desperately want your own :( On the plus side it's lovely his sister is so excited - you now know when you do get pregnant she's going to be over the moon for you! Being second doesn't make it any less special.

CD17 for me and still haven't ovulated. May have ovulated on CD 12-13 but then would be really early?? Also didn't see OH for 4 days over that time period so would be out anyway :(

SofiePendragon · 21/05/2017 20:41

Hi viletta!

Snooze boo to wtf cycles! I agree with pp - keep shagging, you never know your luck!

angel it's so hard when you've been trying for so long. I get the green eyed monster sometimes too, and its so much more difficult when it's family and so you have to engage with it at least a bit. Do your family know you're trying?

Happy holidays to pretzel and angel! Are you planning to test while you're away pretzel?

I got home from my holiday yesterday (back to work tomorrow Sad). Still no sign of AF - now on CD41. Tested this am - Bfn. Was kinda expecting AF to arrive on the plane as that used to happen when I was younger (whether I was expecting her or not!), but no sign. Hoping I'm not in for another 95 day cycle like I had at the end of last year!

Elbi · 21/05/2017 22:31

Aw I know that green eyed monster well.

And DH has just, wait for it, injured his pelvis at football. So we're pretty much out before we even started this month ...

(He's ok btw, just out of action for a few days. The important few days. But I'm fine about it. Juuust fine Wink)

TriJo · 22/05/2017 09:35

CD15 here today - expecting to ice in the next 2-3 days. We'll see though! Hubby's getting pounced on this week :)

A week until we're heading back to Ireland. Just booked a fancyarse 5-star hotel for our first night without our son! My mum is looking after him overnight for that night.

TriJo · 22/05/2017 09:46

Positive OPK.

cues Barry White

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 22/05/2017 11:36

Oooh Jo!!

So AF rocked up this morning and I am disproportionately gutted! But have to think positive: if the Fertility Friend app is right then last month I had a 12D luteal phase compared to c. 8D previously. So the B complex is obviously doing something!
