Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Don't appologise Macs, I think others will get hope from it. I'm just bloody impatient 😫

MissyJones80s · 03/05/2017 22:04

Wow everyone seems to be having a crap time of it at the moment, I'm struggling to keep up with how things move on the thread so busy at work as ever and starting to lack positivity motivation which I was expecting to happen at some point with ttc. Also again as I have mentioned DH is away and I had a positive OPK today so pretty much no hope I think again this month. At least I don't have to go through the 2ww trauma I guess...just lacking motivation with this at the moment. Also wondering again why the heck I bothered with bc for all this time I may have well not bothered meh

Pugmummy87 · 03/05/2017 23:07

macs don't apologise, those stories give me some hope too. In my line of work, I often see women who have up ttc after years of trying and then come to me pregnant, so I have faith.

Thinking of you alexia and anyone else struggling.

As resident telling expert, what would you say about my chart alexia?

I think I ovulated on cd18, slow rise followed by a sudden jump up and then stable until today. My usual tww symptom tie in better with this too. Howevere by FF's prediction I'm 12dpo (which may explain sudden drop as AF might be on her way). My ovusense sensor confirmed ovulation as Friday. Confused!

I have my scan on Monday, it doesn't say it's a transvaginal scan but says they may have to do this if they can't get a good view. I am packing some extra padding in the lower tum area so imagine they will do tv scan. Can it be done whilst on period? Likelihood is that AF will already be here or due that day.

sk1pper · 04/05/2017 07:36

They do a lot of AF infused transvaginal scans, nothing to worry about. If you want to limit the grossness off it, I had a good bath just before leaving and it made it a lot "cleaner" for them. But they won't care either way, like the lady said to me they've seen it all by now!

Londonjam · 04/05/2017 08:36

That's frustrating missy , you seem to be handling it well though. Hope it's better timing next month

Pug I'm no chart expert but it sounds like your cycles are becoming more regular which is great

I second Skipper re the dildocam Pug (I feel like I have had way more than is normal by now!). My opinion is always, they're scanning a woman, if they want them not to be on their period then they would make sure they scheduled it on an appropriate day. You might want to take wet wipes as I don't find the tissues clean the lube goo off very well, and might be worse with AF. Also, pack spare sanitary stuff, as the poking around might provoke some extra bleeding.

I think I may have ovulated yesterday/today. Couldn't temp as hardly slept Monday and Tuesday. However I know that my post-0 temps are usually above 36.6, so could take a temp tomorrow and see what it says. We HS CD8, CD10 and CD13. I'm not sure it's enough. If we'd have done 9, 11 and 12 I would feel better about it. But hey ho, it's done now.

How did my friend get pregnant by accident! I don't understand how this happens to people.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 10:28

sometimes i think that you can only get pregnant if you don't think about getting pregnant !

Flowers to all of you who are struggling today.

harrietm87 · 04/05/2017 13:30

alexia thanks for your kind message! I know we will all get there in the end. And on that note, what supplements would you recommend for egg quality? I'm taking pregnacare, vitamin D, b6 and co q-10 - anything else? Also been having Greek yoghurt every day and generally eating well.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 14:17

harriet doesn't pregnacare already include vit d and b6 ? what does co q-10 are you taking?

AlexiaB · 04/05/2017 14:38

Macs I'm so pleased for your brother and SIL, how lovely. I find stories like that heart-warming and uplifting but also sad because they had to struggle for so long! I passed 2 years in Feb so I hope I get my happy ending sooner rather than later! 4 years is a scary thought.

Pug hmm that's a tricky one! I definitely don't think the dotted CHs on CD14 are correct. CD21 looks correct to me based on temps alone but from what you've said it could be CD18. Without opk's it's harder to say. It'll become clearer soon. I wouldn't be surprised to see your temp go back up again tomorrow.

Harriet how much coq10 do you take? I upped to 600mg this cycle. I would add omega 3 and research Maca, Royal Jelly and L-arginine as I see a lot of women taking these. Vitamin E is great too.
Food: antioxidant berries, flaxseed powder, dark green veg, salmon, avocado, ginger etc.

harrietm87 · 04/05/2017 15:14

hep yes pretty sure it does have vits d&b but I had the separate supplements so figured it couldn't hurt to take more - correct me if I'm wrong! (Only started in the last week or so).

Taking 120mg of coq10 from holland and Barrett.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 15:34

harriet I am not a doctor/medical/profesional health person, (So i will gladly be corrected by one !) but my advice would be to drop the individual vitd and b. Too much vitamins are as bad as not enough.

vit-d toxicity is certainly a thing. (but don't panic if you are taking supplements, eating oily fish and sitting in the sun ..... you need multiple supplements over a sustained period - i think)

i think i might try 120mg of co-q10. I think i would prefer a lower dose to start.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 15:37

harriet here is the advice from the nhs: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vitamins-minerals/Pages/Vitamin-D.aspx

"Don't take more than 100mcg of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. This applies to adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, and children aged 11-17 years."

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 15:38

similarly for b6:
"What happens if I take too much vitamin B6?
When taking a supplement, it's important not to take too much. Taking more than 200mg a day of vitamin B6 for a long time can lead to a loss of feeling in the arms and legs known as peripheral neuropathy."

source: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vitamins-minerals/Pages/Vitamin-B.aspx#B6

AlexiaB · 04/05/2017 15:44

harriet I don't think it will do any damage personally. I think the combined B50 (if that's what you're taking?) and the B vit dose in pregnacare would be below 100mg?

I use a daily Vitamin D oral spray from Holland and Barrett which is 3000iu and it was recommended.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 15:58

so 3000iu is 75ug (or 0.075mg)

100mg is a huge dose.... so alexia is right i think taking 2 supplements won't harm....

pregnacare contains 15ug of vitd and 10mg of b6.

conclusion - you're fine taking both! happy to correct myself.

AlexiaB · 04/05/2017 16:00

I don't take Pregnacare but this online image shows it contains 10mg of B6 and 6ug of B12 (0.006mg). If you were to add B50 to length your LP it's still well under the 200mg stated above by the NHS.

The Vit D amount is tiny too. Out of interest I converted the 3000iu I take. It's 75mcg which is well below 100mcg. We don't get enough sun here.

I get Hep's worry but I think it's fine Smile

AlexiaB · 04/05/2017 16:01

XP Hep.. Agreed!

Flashinthepan · 04/05/2017 16:03

As we're on supplements, I was taking seven seas conception when I got pregnant last time. Then got irrationally paranoid so decided to switch to boots conception. Stopped because it made me super constipated. Now I'm taking the B-50 but feel I should also be taking a pre-conception vit, even though the B50 has folic acid in it.

Should I go for pregnacare, or back on seven seas? Constipation is a big issue for me (glamourous, I know).

Flashinthepan · 04/05/2017 16:04

SHould clarify, irrationally paranoid about doing anything the same as when I got pregnant last time in case I jinxed it.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 16:09

flash i am taking pregnacare conception.

honestly, stick to the supplements without the side effects !
So try pregnacare.... it could be fine for you.

if you still have constipation, it might be due to supplements containing iron. You have to be careful what type of iron they have.... one sort is renowned for consitpation.

HepKestrel · 04/05/2017 16:15

tbh i think what is most important is we are healthy - physically and mentally. if choosing vitamins makes us feel positive and in control, we should do it. The positivity is just as beneficial as the vitamin dose.

The other advice i like is from Professor Robert Winston: "have lots of enjoyable sex !"

Ladies: We are all a little battle worn, but the sun is shining. Make sure you stop to enjoy it.

Flowers for all of us.

AlexiaB · 04/05/2017 16:34

Love that Hep ❤️

Flash I'd try Pregnacare or Pregna-Plan from cytoplan. It's high quality but it does taste rank if you don't swish it back well.

Flashinthepan · 04/05/2017 16:47

Speaking of enjoying sex, DH and I had sex on the sofa last week out of the blue! I was a bit shocked. It didn't even feel like TTC if you know what I mean.

Ok I will definitely try pregnacare and then pregna plan if it doesn't suit me.

harrietm87 · 04/05/2017 16:54

Thanks hep and alexia! I'm actually taking pregnacare pregnancy rather than conception as I stocked up on a 3 for 2 when I got pregnant (sad!) and it comes with a separate omega 3 tablet. I wonder what the difference is between that and the conception one? Will look it up and try to work it out later...

flash good work on sofa sex! Also fwiw I haven't had any digestive issues with pregnacare, though I think it makes some people nauseous.
