Thread 28, TTC #1 | We may be hormonal giraffes but we don't eat no low fat humous

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Thanks for the list Jam. I'm now due to test on 24 April which seems like a very long time away! I like that our grads list is longer than our testers though; very encouraging!

KR24 · 09/04/2017 13:08

Hi, looking to join in as well !!
Age 24
Cycle 4
Currently in 2ww
From what I can tell I'm 9dpo woke up this morning feeling terrible stuffy nose, slight cramps and just want to lie in bed.
I stupidly believed that fertility would return back to normal after removing implant from drs advice and I'm far too impatient.
How's everyone else doing here ? :)

Pyjamas81 · 09/04/2017 13:14

Thanks for the list jam! I'm due on 27th April which seems like an eternity away!

Welcome KR and fx for you - I'm another one who came off the implant and it took a while to get back to normal, but everyone is different!

I'm in a stupidly good mood for some reason today - just generally really happy. Catching up on masterchef, pleased with how much fun dinner was with friends last night, and about to head out for lunch in the sun with DH, followed by a GOS later - life is good today 😊

KR24 · 09/04/2017 14:38

Thanks pyjamas81 I genuinely wish I had never been on the implant now !
Hoping to see lots of BFP's soon, such an exciting time !

Pugmummy87 · 09/04/2017 15:18

Congrats glitter that's a good line on a ic at 11dpo! Cautiously wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months.

Day 2 of cycle what 20 now? Will need to book hsg tomorrow. Also recieved my appointment for my ultrasound scan yesterday, booked for 8th may.

I also start a group personal training session tomorrow. 3 times a week. Looking forward to it. I've been eating rubbish recently and can't wait to actually eat non junk!

Londonjam · 09/04/2017 15:33

Does anyone worry seriously about how long term TTC is affecting their mental health?

This weekend the weather is beautiful, we are finally moved into our own home, we've had friends over, we're having a BBQ with family later... and yet I just feel sad. Like I've got a little cold blanket of sadness or I'm trapped in this little bubble of sadness that I can't escape.

I feel like I'm not enjoying life anymore like I used to. I used to be teary only when very hormonal, but now I feel like I could just cry at the drop of a hat, any time, any day.

I'm starting to worry about my mental health almost as much as our failure to conceive 😔

My test day is 2nd May - then I'll be 3 months away from 2 years TTC. 😞 That really is shite.

Jam - I feel okay the majority of the time but small things can set me off. Baby bombs is a big one, even the thought of family and friends getting pregnant before me makes me feel sick - although thankfully I haven't had to deal with that situation yet. Adverts revolving around babies, fertility and families with small children.make me angry. But day-to-day I feel okay...I did go through a similar episode to you around the 9-13month mark and it lifted eventually. I'm not personally a huge fan of getting drugs for depression, I feel you would benefit having a real life support group. If there's not one nearby then maybe this will help:
fertilitynetworkuk.org/for-those-trying-to-become-parents/

Don't stew on it though, were always here for you so feel free to vent and get all your feelings down.

MrsH52 · 09/04/2017 16:09

Hi there, I hope I'm ok to join this thread.

We're ttc #1 and I came off the pill in February so I'm pretty new to all this, but I have been lurking on the previous thread and think you're all amazing and the advice and support for each other you all give is amazing - through the good and the harder news.

I'm on cd24 (last month was 31)
C#2
God knows about po#. Got 2 positive opks last Friday and Saturday but have been temping this month and that shows literally nothing, so I don't know if that means anything or not. (So much for taking it chilled when first ttc - good thing DH knows I'm a bit of an all or nothing girl!)
Any advice welcome and hope I'm ok joining in. And of course baby dust to everyone Smile

sk1pper · 09/04/2017 17:12

Welcome new people!

MrsH - do you have a temp chart you can post?

MrsH52 · 09/04/2017 18:16

From my Ovia app - the FW is still based on a 28 day month from when I was still on the pill - but first month post poll was 31 days. Not sure if the fact that I live in a really warm building will make any difference but it's been pretty much at the same time every day and before I get up!

MissyJones80s · 09/04/2017 18:50

Congrats glittery I can definitely see a line whoop !!!

hopeful glad your op went well and it's now out of the way just one last push for the wait to ttc now fx and yay

Pretty certain I'm out this month. DH was away all last week, the day he got back his car broke down so didn't get home until some ungodly hour. Typically I think I ov the following evening (having said that I didn't test but I did have the pains) we did have a GOS but he passed out half way through because we went out and he had this super strength beer, I was uncomfortable too from ov pains so was kind of glad at the time in a way. We had a fun night out though and a good old dance which we haven't done for ages! We did manage it yesterday evening but think we missed the boat. Ho hum.

Anyways

Sorry if I've missed much...will have to check back on last thread. Been trying not to ponder on it much this time due to the lack of timely GOS'ing

Flashinthepan · 09/04/2017 19:39

Congrats glittery! Great news for the weekend.

Londonjam · 09/04/2017 21:01

No I don't want drugs either, I know this will lift when if we conceive , it's not an organic depression or something wrong with me. It's just the stress and emotional strain of all this taking its toll Sad l can sympathise re the thought of friends or family conceiving. My colleague is 11 weeks and it's hit me much harder than I would like to admit seeing her little bump and sensing her excitement. I can't quite believe that other people just conceive. It feels completely impossible like they just performed a miracle - levitated in front of my eyes or something. Thanks for the link and suggestion - I'll have a think about seeking RL support.

Welcome mrsh

Hello missy sounds like a fun night Smile I hope you're still in with a chance

Congratulations glittery! jam could you add me to the bfp list - 21st April. Thanks! Also, I'm sorry you're feeling down about everything. Have no words of wisdom, but I'm sending positive thoughts your way Flowers

Hi to all the newbies, you're all very welcome!

missy what do your o pains feel like? I've been trying to identify if the short sharp pain I sometimes get is actually o pain.

Today is O day according to my various apps. HS an astounding number of times this week, exhausting!

Any resident vitamin experts? Should I bother taking b vitamins if my luteal phase is usually around 12 days or are they only useful for lengthening a short LP?

sk1pper · 09/04/2017 21:32

MrsH - hmm not too sure on the chart. A lot of people use Fertility Friend as the graph can be a lot clearer, might be an idea. I wish Alexia was still here, she'd be able to help you work out what that all means...any one else have any ideas.

Gaelach - b vitamins definitely are good if you spot a lot before full flow.

I spoke to my mum, she took years to conceive me...she couldn't even remember how long. 😞 She even said she conceived me a month after her and my father "gave up" on the whole thing. So could be in it for the long haul...

KR24 · 09/04/2017 21:58

Gaelach do you use opk's to determine roughly when you o ?
I used them for the first month and that was when I was really able to track down the cramps as o pain :) so happy to see glittery got a bfp, congratulations !!

Kathrino · 09/04/2017 22:07

Jam, without wishing to cause offence (not that it should but I hope you know what I mean) but a lot of the things you describe in your post are symptoms of depression. Obviously I totally get that it's situational but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with in my experience and there is help out there - whether it's drugs (which I totally understand you don't want but can be very helpful; they gave me back my life a few years ago) or counselling or something. What you're describing is no way to live at all. Take care of yourself 😘
