Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Agreed skipper, it really could save the NHS loads of time and money. It's used as an ovulation "booster" (regardless of whether you ovulate or not) in so many other countries!

Hope this does the trick and brings you your much deserved little one :)

HepKestrel · 25/04/2017 16:52

great news skipper

(i've just downloaded the 10k app..... lets see it took me 7 months to do the 8 week course...... so at that rate i'll finish by christmas ? hmmmm ? )

Hope your taking some time to yourself harriet, wishing you well.

flash so sorry to hear your news, hope you are able to take time to yourself also.

alexia that's such a nice story! I have a friend who tried for 3 years with unexplained fertility and on the waiting list for ivf and they got there bfp. They they had another one shortly after, odd how that seems to happen. Wtf about that clip though! Seriously how childish to behave like that about a gender reveal. So pathetic.

florafoxtrot · 25/04/2017 19:17

Great Alexia I also love inspirational stories! And she's worded the whole thing beautifully too.

Skip can I ask why they'd prescribe Clomid if it's been confirmed that you are already ovulating? I thought that was the point of Clomid?

Londonjam · 25/04/2017 20:20

Harriet you poor thing having to go through that 😔 sending you unmumsnet hugs and wishing you better asap 🌼🌼🌼

Kath I wouldn't be surprised.. he was on cloud 9 afterwards. Very impressed your DH tackles marathons too. Seems insane to me!

Skipper that's amazing! I'm fairly aghast at this after hearing my consultant say it won't help. The lack of consistency drives me nuts. There's a clomid thread on the infertility board - I think I might check out how they are getting on with it and look into the private options. I would want to be as carefully monitored as that.

Winging which appointment are you up to?

Alexia thanks for sharing the IUI story

Jam - exactly! I thought of you instantly when this happened. That's why I questioned it, the inconsistency across the uk doesn't make sense. The risk of ectopic and multiple pregnancies is higher than natural conception so definitely have it done professionally if you are worried, they can scan your ovaries and tailor your dosage as required.

Fox - it boosts ovulation for anyone regardless of whether you're ovulating or not. For me it's likely to stimulate multiple follicles rather than 1 which means multiple eggs released. It also improves egg quality. So all in all, a greater chance of fertilisation.

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 22:01

Jam the inconsistency drives me mad too, we've seen it so many times on here. It's bizarre! Just in case you're interested, that woman's DH's count was only 70m.

As for Clomid monitoring it really is just one scan to check your ovaries response to the drug (how many follies, size etc. and to check whether they'd need to up the dose next time if your response was poor) and to check your womb lining at the same time. Nothing much can be done at that point though! The scan is definitely worth having for reassurance and peace of mind, though it's not standard practice everywhere.

The 21 day bloods is more for those who take Clomid because they don't ovulate and need confirmation that it's actually worked. I'd be flabbergasted if you both took Clomid and didn't O, if that makes sense.

Londonjam · 25/04/2017 22:07

That seems pretty much in line with what I've read , thanks alexia. I've read quite a few women saying they took it for months, didn't conceive and turned into a hormonal monster so I'm a bit wary of thinking anything is a miracle cure - not suggesting that anyone here thinks it is of course. I guess it's a tool in our arsenal of weaponry to coax a stubborn bean into our wombs! I've emailed a few clinics tonight so will see what they say

Thanks for the warning re ectopic and multiples skipper

Sorry for not coming back sooner girls, I've been holed up under the weather (unfortunately not losing loads of weight 😉)

Harriet 💐 I hope you're having some time off work and getting lots of love from your OH. Take care- thinking of you ❤️

So sorry for your loss flash 💐 my thoughts are with you at such a horrible time

Glad you had a productive appointment skipper- how are you feeling about it all?

Sorry for af Gaelach hep penguin and *kathrino

Kwick 😘 hope you're doing ok? How was the clinic searching? And you bunny* - hope you're healing up well and your af isn't as painful as you think, then the BFP comes along asap 🤞

Jam well done your DH! For the records, I'm due 16th may (lucky cycle 10??) Sorry you've had PIL pressure- hope your DH has a think and then a quiet word with them to tell them to keep their thoughts to themselves

Fantastic GOS work alexia! 👍 LSFX! Loved the babble article, good to remember that we are not alone ❤️

Hi miw- how's everything?

Thanks for the info pug- I'm trying to reduce carbs already so hopefully that will help the weight and pcos cycle problems. How long have you had pcos?

My weight for the records is 57.7kg- but I'm really short 😬 BMI 23.2 but I think I'm carrying a high body fat percentage. Know it's not a huge amount to lose but want to get healthier and lose just a couple of kilos to see if that helps with the pcos. Hold me accountable ladies- you've shamed me with your workouts kathrino hep winging pyjamas and all!

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 22:38

Jam yep agreed, not a wonder drug but worth a shot because it does work for some. Hoping it brings me my THB (take home baby) this cycle 🤞.

As for side effects I've had absolutely none! Well none that are worth mentioning but I will - around ovulation I was more gassy than normal and I fell asleep a bit earlier one night (CD5). My mood has been really good surprisingly. My first cycle on Clomid in October my only side effects were a couple of hot flushes early on and ovulation hurt a bit more than normal. Absolutely no doubting it does make some women go crazy but I thought I'd share my positive experience. Gee had no side effects either 100%.

Hi Binky 👋 good to hear from you. Good luck with your weight loss. Where are you at in your cycle now, are you monitoring it more closely? I hope it's lucky cycle 10 🍀

Binkybunny13 · 25/04/2017 22:46

I'm CD11 Alexa so coming up to FW I hope. Not going to opk or start bbt this month as I'm away and have work commitments in the evenings, but I'm ready to go for next cycle. And DH is having SA soon so hopefully will have some opk/bbt info for the fertility clinic appointment afterwards

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 22:54

Sounds good Binky Smile Fx for your DH's SA.

glittery apologies I missed your post earlier. That's really lovely and reassuring about your friend, especially that they had another one soon after too. There's a woman on FF who had an IVF baby in Dec 2015 and just got her first ever natural BFP on Cycle 5 TTC #2. She had a FET scheduled for June so all being well she won't need it. Funny how things work out.

Londonjam · 26/04/2017 08:50

Hahahhahahahha just have to share this

I emailed a clinic asking about clomid and the costs. She replied "I'm sorry I'm not sure what you mean".

I read my email back and I'd written

"Can I get the Feds involved for all of this please?"

Damn autocorrected fees! Hahahahaha she must think I'm mental 😂

Jam 😂😂😂

florafoxtrot · 26/04/2017 09:02

Thanks Skipper - I wondered if it would be something like that so good to know. We are heading for our first GP appointment on Friday (this is Cycle 10 for us) so a bit behind in the process but it is interesting all the same. I'm in Scotland so wonder whether the approach to Clomid might be different again.

Lol, Jam - I think I would have worked that one out though! Surely it would be a fairly standard question!

AlexiaB · 26/04/2017 09:43

Jam lmao 🤣🤣😂😂

AlexiaB · 26/04/2017 09:49

Yay got my crosshairs this morning 👍 I've switched my alarm off now and will only temp if I naturally wake up around 6am. Come on baby!!!

Musicgrrl · 26/04/2017 10:00

Popping on to say - chart and GOS is looking great alexia! Got my FX that this Clomid cycle does the trick for you Smile

Skipper your appointment sounded really helpful. It sounds like you have a good plan. When will you start on the Clomid?

Jam that's an amazing typo! I honestly stared at it for ages and couldn't work out what it was meant to say, ha. Glad you're making progress with your enquiries though.

hep sorry for AF but glad you know where you are with your cycles again.

Thinking of you while you recover harriet Flowers

Sorry to all those I haven't mentioned but I promise I'm still here rooting for you all!

AlexiaB · 26/04/2017 10:10

Hi Music 👋 thank you. We've given it our best shot so now it's down to luck I guess. How are you and little one? I'm still following you on the Grad's when I get time.

Musicgrrl · 26/04/2017 10:15

Thanks Alexia - we're doing well, thanks. Currently 24 weeks which is a viability milestone so feels like a good place to be. We have another scan and consultant appointment at 28 weeks which I'm looking forward to as we'll get to see baby girl again! Still seems quite unreal but it's not too long until third trimester now so we need to get our arses in gear and think about buying stuff...

Pyjamas81 · 26/04/2017 10:16

And am out (roughy 14 dpio) - on to cycle 12 we go 😞 Roll on 15th May clinic appointment.

Musicgrrl · 26/04/2017 10:51

So sorry to hear that pyjamas Flowers glad you have an appointment lined up

AlexiaB · 26/04/2017 10:54

Music - how lovely to reach that milestone. It still seems like yesterday you got your bfp, I can't believe how quickly it's gone! The best bit (I imagine) is shopping for baby so I bet you can't wait to get started now! Good luck with everything, I'll be looking out for your 28 week scan pic xx

Ughh pyjamas I was really rooting for you! At least you have your appointment to focus on. Take it easy today Cake Flowers Wine

MissyJones80s · 26/04/2017 11:16
