Thread 28, TTC #1 | We may be hormonal giraffes but we don't eat no low fat humous

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

@Flashinthepan I so very sorry to hear of your loss Flowers I hope you can take time to grieve properly.

Flowers for all BFNs and AFs and 🤞🏼for those in 2ww

I am determined to ring a new clinic today to enquire after next steps - second AF after MC came yesterday at 31 days so it looks like I am in a pattern again.

InspectorPenguin · 25/04/2017 08:06

Hey Kwick, lovely to see you back, sounds like a great idea to try afresh somewhere new. Sometimes a change in tack is exactly what's needed, both psychologically and physically. Hope work is giving you a bit of headspace?

Pyjamas you should definitely do ParkRun, you'll love it! No speed or style required - Phoebe running will go unnoticed 😊

Harriet, hope you're doing okay x

Jam that was a brilliant time from you DH! Wow. I'm even more impressed since it sounds like he has such a time consuming job yet still obviously put the training in 🥇
Think he definitely needs a words with his folks though, that's a crap load of pressure and expectation they're heaping on you. Does he have any siblings to share the load?

Fingers crossed for all you in the TWW and sorry for AF Hep. 7 days late? That's a headfuck.

Londonjam · 25/04/2017 08:17

Sorry hep I really thought I'd be adding you to the grads list this cycle. Hope you're alright 🌼

Harriet I hope yesterday went as well as it could 🌼

Good to have you back kwick. I can imagine you must get used to a certain clinic and staff but in your shoes I think I'd try another too, to get things moving

Pyjamas definitely try a Parkrun it's great!

Penguin we spoke about it this morning and fell out as DH said I'm sure they didn't mean it like that - I think he was trying to reassure me but it just came across as defending them 😠 I'm pretty hormonal so not in the mood for that. Plus they didn't say any of this crap to him - all to me! His mum was close to tears when they were saying they are going to be here all the time / turning up unannounced. They said to my sister at the pub "we aren't going to sell our house but we will be in London a LOT more". We can't even conceive!!! This is way too much pressure 😩

I missed your DH's time Jam, that's brilliant! If he's anything like my DH (who ran a similar time in is first marathon), he won't stop now until he goes under 3.30...

Hep, so sorry for AF. Hope you're doing okay Flowers

Kwick, best of luck with a new clinic. I wasn't overwhelmed with the level of disorganisation at CRGH so might look elsewhere too.

Pyjamas, hoping AF stays away today!

Woke up at 5am with terrible period pains. Today is going to be a looooong day 😴

sk1pper · 25/04/2017 08:34

Hep - Flowers and Cake for you Hep. I can't believe you ran 5k at the end of your cycle though, my body always begins to shut down and get lethargic around then. You must be feeling pretty good despite AF?

Kwick - yeah I echo what others say, excellent idea. Do you know which clinics you're going to enquire at? Will be good to have you back on here trying again.

Pyjamas - is AF due Thursday?

Kath - sorry you're suffering today, decent pain killers is the way to go if you've got to go to work. Drug yourself up and try and get through the day but I know how tough it is...

Pyjamas81 · 25/04/2017 08:53

AF due on Thurs skip but as I don't temp anymore (based ov on day after positive opk day), it could be early/late. Who knows! Hopes aren't high, that's for sure.

You've all convinced me - will try a parkrun!

Sorry you're in pain today kath 🙁

Fresh clinic and new people may be just the ticket kwick - good to hear cycles look like they're returning to some normality as well.

HepKestrel · 25/04/2017 09:08

Thanks all.

I'm actually doing ok. I had a few signs over the last few days, so it wasn't a shock, but yes, i still got my hopes up. I am however glad that my cycle isn't completely screwed (as what happened last year). I also know it was late due to 2-3 days of stress/anxiety due to a stupid fuckwit at work . In an odd way, it was nice having hope again. The last cycles were super regular, so no hint of hope.

The sky is blue and the sun is shining. My garden and yard (not a euphenism!) are looking good. So looking forward to the summer.

kwick i think i might take a look at some of your supplements for the older gals? could you post you list again ? My predicted ov day is actually by birthday, so my treat this month is that I am finally gonna admit defeat over the encroaching grey hairs and get highlights to cover them !

Also, have a girls weekend in european city this weekend..... so can have some Gin and some Wine Grin.

I do think I may have to talk to OH and ask him to cut down on the booze for the next 2 weeks. He did agree after the mc. Not looking forward to the chat, but i think we need to talk about it again. He is very laid back about the whole thing "it'll happen when it happens" type thing ..... [bleurgh]

pyjamas I am like you ! not sure i am socially brave for a park run ! I like running on my own, plugging my music in.

harrietm87 · 25/04/2017 11:21

Hi everyone. Thanks for kind thoughts and wishes.

The MVA was such a horrendous experience I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I've never felt pain like it. Saving grace was it was over quickly (after an 8 hour wait in the hospital where I kept being told it would be "within half an hour" so I couldn't leave and my pain killers wore off...) - actual procedure took about 15 minutes. I cried all the way through. I feel physically ok now though - just some mild cramping, and glad it's over and I can move on.

Will catch up properly on the thread later but hope you're all well.

HepKestrel · 25/04/2017 11:27

Flowers harriet that sounds awful Flowers

Pyjamas81 · 25/04/2017 11:35

KerryLeanne84 · 25/04/2017 12:16

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 12:47

Hep what a bugger Flowers I'm glad af didn't go awol for months again though! Well done on the 5k 👏🏼

Jam sorry you fell out with DH. Definitely not what you need right now! Hope he understands and you make up soon.

Skipper hope your appointment goes well. It's ok to cry but you've got this! Star

Still rooting for you pyjamas!

Hope you've got some good pain meds Kath Flowers AF is so cruel.

Hope the call with the new clinic went well @kwick. It's so good to hear from you!
I have a question about cayenne pepper... How much daily and when during your cycle?
(just the tww?). Yoghurt is a life saver! great tip

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 12:51

MissyJones80s · 25/04/2017 14:34

Hi all

So sorry about all of the AFs rolling in... here's Flowers for you all

flash so sorry to hear your shocking news, thinking of you

Hope hospital appointment went okay skip

kwik good luck finding a new clinic

harriet what you have been through sounds awful I am so sorry to hear all of this, take care

Thanks for the list jam my AF/BFP date is 14 May

Just a quick question, folic acid is it best to take with food (it advises to do so on the tub) I'm guessing this is because of absorption...only thing is I quite often forget to take after food and then remember like a couple of hours later so I then think I will have it after lunch or dinner or whenever next meal is ...and then I forget!

MissyJones80s · 25/04/2017 14:35

alexia wtf that link. Some people! I hope her child never sees that how dreadful.

florafoxtrot · 25/04/2017 14:50

Haven't been on this thread for ages ladies. Hope you are all doing well. Sorry to those with recent visits from AF.

Flowers for Harriet

Cannot believe that link Alexia what an ungrateful bitch. And why do a gender reveal at all if you're going to lose your shit if its not what you want.

sk1pper · 25/04/2017 15:16

Harriet - you are a brave, brave woman. There is nothing positive to say about that procedure and I'm sorry you had to go through it, but you can heal now and in time move on. Please take care of yourself over the next couple of days...

I've had my appointment, I thought it would be to discuss IVF and the waiting list but to my astonishment, they've put me on Clomid for 3 months. I know this has been a huge topic of debate on here before and I mentioned to my gynaecologist that I didn't think the NHS "did" Clomid, but apparently the clinic started trialling it in December and their success rates have increased by 40% so now its standard procedure - particularly for anyone with "unexplained infertility".

I've got to take half a 50mg tablet daily from CD 2-6. They monitor you quite heavily for the first cycle, so I've got to arrange for a vaginal ultrasound between day 12-14 where they assess the response of your ovaries. Then on day 21 a blood test is done to confirm ovulation. If you don't become pregnant, you start it all again next cycle but you may be required to up your dosage dependent on the results of the cycle 1 scan.

She nearly didn't give the Clomid to me when I mentioned our honeymoon is soon...she just kept saying, "But you don't want to be pregnant for the honeymoon". I think my direct answer of "Yes I do." was enough to sway her. Morning sickness? I think I can handle it after all the vaginal exams, scrapes, swabs and tubal flushes I had. Plus there's no guarantee if this will even work.

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 15:16

Missy I take my tablets during / just after my breakfast. Maybe keep them close by your breakfast things as a reminder? I find it's helpful to keep them all in a plastic bag I can drag around to different rooms if needed. I take so many it's a bit of a mission!

Exactly flora!!! It's so unfair that ungrateful, immature girls like this get to be mothers. She clearly hasn't had fertility issues or she wouldn't dare behave like that. Makes me so angry!

AlexiaB · 25/04/2017 15:25

Yay skipper that's really positive news Grin Interesting to hear about their trial too. I'm glad you're trying this before IVF and I really hope it works for you 🤞

My advice... For CM drink grapefruit juice daily to O because it dries you up, also use preseed (which I know you already do). Drink pomegranate juice and raspberry leaf tea for your womb lining until O.

Btw the NHS use Clomid for fertility, not Femara, which is probably where that confusion came from.

Pyjamas81 · 25/04/2017 15:36

That's really positive news skipper!

WingingIt83 · 25/04/2017 15:48

Sorry you had a rough time of it harriet hope you are doing ok xx

In awe of the running hep I'm a long way from getting your 5k level! I also much prefer running in the cold, not liking it now it's got warmer.

Phoned clinic and appointment definitely confirmed for this Friday, trying to decide what to tell my boss as right in middle of day and very unlike me to have something like this Hmm

missy I take mine after dinner, usually about half hour after. All mine and DH's tablets are lined up on coffee table which we have to frantically hide if someone comes round!!

sk1pper · 25/04/2017 15:59

Alexia - Yep they've used Clomid for a while, but haven't in the past for women diagnosed with unexplained infertility. That's why I was confused, I thought like many I would just be refused it if I asked for it because my test results all confirm ovulation is taking place. I think they've realised this could save them a lot of money and time than going straight down the IVF route.

sk1pper · 25/04/2017 16:00

Also, thanks for the tips. I've got raspberry tea, needs to stock up on more Preseed and i'll get some grapefruit juice.

Mrsbluebell17 · 25/04/2017 16:06

Hi all. Just wanted to drop by to say hello (waves). I'm still hovering around and wanted to post today to send my love to Harriet. Sounds horrific and I hope you're ok.

Skipper that is awesome news, I've got my fingers crossed for you.

I hope everyone else is going ok FlowersCakeSmile
