Thread 28, TTC #1 | We may be hormonal giraffes but we don't eat no low fat humous

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Sorry too penguin I hope you're alright xx

Hopeful the HSG has to be ordered by a fertility specialist, I don't think it's something GPs refer for. The first consultant we saw didn't recommend it but the second one did. It's the only fertility test we haven't had. I think it's worth it just to make sure there isn't a blockage.

Glad to hear you are recovering well by the way hopeful

Alexia I've been so close to blurting it out so many times this weekend!

Pug thanks for sharing that's very reassuring. I'll take ibuprofen and paracetamol before too

Sorry I've been quiet but I have been reading everything just not had a chance to post.

Sorry for those AF got

Another c25k runner here, although very slowly! We technically started in Jan but still only on wk5 after a few stop starts.

Off to see my niece today who is now 4 months. They know we're ttc though.

I'm a bit concerned I've not had the written confirmation of our appointment after booking it on the NHS online thing. They do say you shouldn't turn up unless the hospital themselves have confirmed it Confused

Pyjamas81 · 23/04/2017 08:15

Sorry to hear about AF kath, penguin and Gaelach 🙁

There's some great C25k action going on! I did it a few years ago - it was great 👍🏼

I'm in pain today after PT session yesterday! Think I'll do a half hour HIIT workout at home today.

May be worth giving them a call for peace of mind winging?

Well it seems not even acknowledging DH's bad mood with me and carrying on being my chirpy self did the trick yesterday - he was totally fine later and back to normal!

11dpo here and no symptoms as usual - if past cycles are anything to go by, spotting will start either tomorrow or the day after. Not expecting anything at all these days - just waiting to get to our appointment on the 15th.

sk1pper · 23/04/2017 08:23

Ah shit was hoping to see a few more BFPs but sorry Kath, Penguin and Gaelach. Hope you ladies haven't been hit too hard by it Flowers

Hopeful - glad to hear you are slowly recovering. Your have to be referred for a HSG but there are private clinics that do it if you can't get the referral. I regret having mine done, it was pretty horrendous and didn't uncover any problems. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Londonjam · 23/04/2017 10:17

Skipper sorry you regret doing yours. It's a tough one to make a decision on. Our consultant said it's up to you and that it was unlikely I was blocked up as I've never had any infections. On the other hand it's the only test we haven't had and our numbers are all normal, so it's too tempting to say we will do it to have everything covered and know for sure that's not the problem. I realise it's different but I'm reassuring myself that I'm pretty good with smear tests they've never bothered me too much. But I am nervous.

Am on my way to cheer DH running the London marathon today! I feel so nervous!

Thanks for the list Jam. I'm right at the back now, next test date will be 22 May apparently. That seems like a stupidly far time away! Good luck to your DH today Jam! I just said to mine that I'm so glad he's not running this year although he is doing a marathon on Sept I think.

Thanks for the commiserations, I never for a moment thought I was pregnant so had made my leave with it long ago. Just hoping to get back to normal cycles now. Sorry to my AF buddies Gaelach and Penguin. Gaelach, I remember cycles 9/10 being particularly tough so I hope you're doing okay today. 2018 babies are definitely the way to go Flowers

sk1pper · 23/04/2017 10:36

Jam - I don't mean to dissuade anyone. The gynaecologist told me it would feel like bad period cramps and she was right. Unfortunately "bad period cramps" for me are at the chronic pain level and it took the radiologist 20 minutes to get the dye up on tube as my womb had flopped at a funny angle. I'm glad I know that my tubes are good but I guess I'm disappointed that I didn't get a magical BFP after all that trouble. Chances are you ladies will go and be put in 10 mins with minimal problems.

WingingIt83 · 23/04/2017 10:39

After just managing wk5 of c25k yesterday (3x 5 mins) there's no way I could ever contemplate running a marathon so respect to your DH jam!!
Put me down for 15 May please

AlexiaB · 23/04/2017 11:07

Thanks for the list Jam. Good luck to your DH!!!

Hopeful hope you continue to heal well and get back to ttc very soon Flowers

Winging can you give them a call?

I'm so pleased with our FW Grin DH has been amazing, so proud of him! Last night we got into bed after 11 and were done by 11.43! No stress, no tears. Can't believe it! If my temp rises tomorrow like it should we will have hit 0-5, 0-3, 0-2, 0-1 Smile

Gaelach · 23/04/2017 12:06

Well done MrAlexB that's some great GOS action.

jam my new bfp date is 18th May now Sad

Thanks for all the commiserations everyone, and you're right kath this one feels much worse than before. It's even worried DP a bit. Up until now he's been pretty breezy about the whole thing, always confident that the next month is the one, but this time I caught him Googling fertility clinics in NI and the cost of private semen analysis. Looking more and more like we'll need some intervention. Ugh. Who are these women who accidentally conceive twins 3 weeks after missing a pill.

Pyjamas81 · 23/04/2017 12:32

That's such great timing alexia!!! So pleased this cycle has worked out better 😊

I remember cycles 9/10 well gaelach - they were particularly horrible. I really hope the clouds lift for you soon xx

Have to say - I'm really rating the Body Coach HIIT sessions on YouTube - did a half hour one this morning which was hardcore, but feel like I've accomplished something! Meal prepping for the week this afternoon 👍🏼 AF due on Thurs which is when I tend to just think 'fuck it, fuck everything' and eat a load of crap and exercise goes out the window so if I've got things prepared, it's hopefully less likely to happen!

Feeling very inspired by all the marathon runners today 😊

KerryLeanne84 · 23/04/2017 14:31

😾 So I'm on cd20 and my ovulation test this morning is still on flashing smiley (which would mean if it's right then I still haven't ovulated). Bah! Will test again later with one of the one step opks, but this cycle is very weird. Confused on the plus side we did get a gos in last night when I got back from my trip. Oh and I woke up with the worst sore throat and foggy head today and it's such a lovely day!

Hope other people's days are going better! ❤️

QuietTime · 23/04/2017 18:29

Sorry about AF kath, penguin & gaelach - hope you're all doing OK; gaelach sorry it hit you so hard xx Flowers

Glad there was no OH drama, pyjamas impressed with the exercise!

Great job at HS Alexia Grin hope this is a less stressful cycle

Got asked 'which one is yours' at a christening today Hmm I thought, but didn't say, 'NONE dickwad'... Halo

QuietTime · 23/04/2017 18:30

And jam hope OH isn't suffering too much! I find it nerve-wracking watching/tracking too

InspectorPenguin · 24/04/2017 07:40

Well done to your DH Jam! Was he happy with how he did? It's such an inspiring even. The shots of that Swansea runner helping the man down the last 300m really made me well up!

Quiet that is a crappy thing to have been said to you. I know people don't mean harm and fertility issues never cross most people's minds (lucky them), but still.... 😠

Awesome news on the shagging Alexia! Well done your DH, what a star. I hope it helps you to have a slightly less stressful TWW - although I know that's near to impossible for any of us.

Good point re Japan travel maybe changing my cycle length, I hadn't thought of that. I kind of hope 27 is the new normal since it speeds everything up but I guess time will tell.

Pyjamas how much space do you need for that HIIT workout? I could do with something I can do at home for the days I can't get into my usual gym class or just want to be back before 10pm.
Very impressed with your meal prepping by the way - I could never have the discipline or organisation to do that!

Hope you're feeling a bit better now Gaelach.

Happy Monday everyone, not long until another bank holiday 🤗

Flashinthepan · 24/04/2017 08:31

Haven't read back yet but will later. My grandad died unexpectedly yesterday so that's hit me like a ton of bricks. Will read through later. Hopefully everyone is ok.

InspectorPenguin · 24/04/2017 08:47

Oh Flash so sorry for your loss. Hope you and your family are bearing up okay, what a sad shock for you all xx

HepKestrel · 24/04/2017 08:53

Flowers so sorry flash

Londonjam · 24/04/2017 08:58

Oh flash I'm so sorry Sad I lost my grandma at New Year and I still feel like I'm coming to terms with her loss. Look after yourself xx

Apologies kath I don't know how I managed to miss your day 1 update. Glad you are feeling strong and dealing with it so well

Skipper thanks for the explanation. I'd rather go in informed and know what it can be like. I'll be stocking up on pain killers!

Great work on FW alexia

Pyjamas I didn't know the body coach had stuff on YouTube, I'll check that out! Do you worry about intense workouts in the TWW? It occurred to me the other day that doing intense stuff might not be ideal, but also I do want to work out...

Ugh at the christening comment quiettime Hmm

Penguin he did really well thanks - got round in 3:38! I am so proud Smile he really enjoyed it too. The whole day was so emotional, I really enjoyed cheering people on

7 DPO today and feeling guilty about being very stressed at the weekend (had DH parents to stay and his dad was driving me nuts) and having a few drinks Friday Saturday and Sunday evening. I keep thinking maybe I should quit booze, perhaps it's stopping things happening? But is that just guilt talking? DH parents are clearly very impatient to become grandparents and were saying really annoying things like "when you stop work you can move up north as DH can commute". I said errr I'm not giving up work... but he said it again several times. And things like "we can just turn up whenever we like can't we" when we have children. They are so full on.
