Thread 28, TTC #1 | We may be hormonal giraffes but we don't eat no low fat humous

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

You have had an eventful time! So happy to hear from you peaches. So glad you have a healthy bean.

sk1pper · 20/04/2017 20:06

Gaelach - my progesterone was 55 so 20 seems kind of low. But it's a key ovulatory hormone so if you were too later after ovulation that could be why it's so low.

Peaches8Posies · 20/04/2017 20:11

Thanks hep first bit of good news for a while!

InspectorPenguin · 20/04/2017 20:38

Very sorry to hear about your dad Peaches but wonderful, happy, lovely news about your scan!

I'm sure your dad is getting great care. Mine has had treatment for cancer twice, about 15 years apart, and both times got very good treatment. The NHS really does prove its worth when it comes to acute care, it makes you proud.

Jam I'm doing fine thanks. Plodding along waiting for AF to show sometime within the next five days as I have all the usual premenstrual symptoms.
We've semi agreed that we'll ask for the IVF referral to get underway in June, but now we have the prospect of a very cool holiday in August so I'm in two minds about delaying until the autumn...

I think your AMH is totally fine btw. The levels need to be read in conjunction with your age, and like Kath said it's not something that correlates with ease of getting preggers so much as how many fertile years you have left. You've got nothing to worry about with those numbers.
(For context, my AMH was 114, but that's because of PCO and clearly hasn't helped at all)

Alexia sorry to read that about your DH, that's so sad. What a lot he has had to deal with in his life :(
I'm glad he got on well with the doctor today and you'll have made progress by next cycle. Sounds to me - in my completely unqualified and inexperienced opinion - he's suffering from the cumulative effects of TTC pressure and disappointment. The link between sex and the brain is so strong that he's probably affected without knowing. Is there any chance he would consider a few sessions of psychosexual counselling? I've heard it can do wonders for chronic stress - although no doubt you'd need to fund privately.

Harriet thinking of you Flowers

Hope work trip isn't too stressful Kath. Away jobs were definitely my least favourite part of working there, unless I lucked out with a fun team. That was rare though!
I was in Belfast last year for a clubbing weekend (clinging onto youth!) and we spent hours in the Titanic Museum on the Saturday. So if you're into the history of the linen trade, and nuts and rivets, I thoroughly recommend it 🤔

Good luck with all the C25Ks everyone, and congrats on the ParkRun PB Flash! It gives you such a lift when you get that text on a Saturday morning doesn't it? Makes you feel proud all day :)

I think PR is such a brilliant organisation, it's amazing to think how many people get up and do 5k every Saturday thanks to them. There's a man who goes to the one in a nearby village who walks with two sticks. He did his first one - being aided by two people - in almost two hours, and now, six months later, is getting around by himself in sixty minutes. It's inspiring.

Happy almost Friday everyone. Weekend countdown starts soon! 💃

InspectorPenguin · 20/04/2017 20:39

Christ, that was a long post, sorry everyone! 😲

sk1pper · 20/04/2017 21:15

Sorry don't have time to respond properly today but just wanted to send that message to Gaelach as I promised.

Also Alexia - glad you and your DH are on the right path to sorting your problems out. He clearly cares and wants to do everything he can to fix it so this is a positive step. I know you probably feel there's a long way to go but hang in there. Xx

Peaches - lovely to hear from you but so sorry about your father. At least you will have some good news for your parents when you decide to tell them, they will be so chuffed.

Hope everyone else is okay, I've had such a busy day at work I need to go crash now - love you guys!

Peaches8Posies · 20/04/2017 22:30

Thank you inspector and glad your Dad kicked Cancers ass! Smile

Thanks skipper, shared our news tonight with them both and my brotherSmile.

Hope everyone is having a nice day chilled evening WineBrewCake

Flashinthepan · 21/04/2017 09:23

I caved and did a FRER. Bfn.

Peaches so lovely to hear your bean is wriggly and healthy! So sorry to hear about your dad but lots of luck for his treatment.

Yeah Penguin if I've done park run I feel justified vegging out for the rest of the day if I fancy it, not sure that's how it's supposed to work but never mind!

HepKestrel · 21/04/2017 09:38

sorry flash

limboland sucks.
....no sign of AF here yet either......

Flashinthepan · 21/04/2017 09:42

It's ridiculous isn't it Hep. I'm CD 30! This is the longest cycle I've ever had in my life!

Will you POAS?

HepKestrel · 21/04/2017 09:53

my new normal is 30/31 days. currently at cd34.
I poas on cd32. I will poas each friday now I think. I am already starting to prepare myself for the longhaul again.

Last year I had one long 37 day cycle and then the epic 9 weeks late and still bfn (before bfp a month later and mc).

sk1pper · 21/04/2017 10:05

Ooh guys I'm so excited for you both!!! I know it's silly if you've had BFNs but I've got such a good feeling.

Flashinthepan · 21/04/2017 10:05

I'm getting that heavy crampy feeling and boobs and gone pain-free again so I think today is my day. What I have realised is that I often feel sick in my LP/around AF, which means I have had all the symptoms of early pregnancy when I am not pregnant, and need never symptom spot again, as they tell me absolutely nothing!

Flashinthepan · 21/04/2017 10:06

Haha, sorry Skipper x-post with you. I'm keeping FX for hep but I really think I'm out.

Flashinthepan · 21/04/2017 10:19

Oh the witch has arrived with a vengeance. She laughs in the face of my hopefulness. Why am I sat at my desk at work and not home on the sofa with crisps and a dvd!

HepKestrel · 21/04/2017 10:23

so sorry flash

sometimes you want the uncertainty to end, but then you mourn that piece of hope you cling onto whilst telling yourself off for doing the samething every fucking month. (or is that just me?)

can you at least find some Chocolate from a cafe or vending machine?

hang on .... where has the Chocolate icon gone ??????? this is terrible.
you will have to have Cake instead. well it might be a little unprofessional for the Gin

Kathrino · 21/04/2017 10:29

Ah Flash, what a bugger. It always seems so much worse when there's been that little bit of hope.

Hep, still keeping everything crossed for you.

I'm leaving the office in Belfast at 3.30pm to fly home. Can't wait! I took myself out for a pizza last night because the alternative was working in my hotel room but still, it's pretty grim (although Belfast is a very nice place!).

CD38 here and feel a bit crampy this morning so expecting AF to arrive this weekend. My last cycle was 36 days and this one will probably hit 40. Hoping to get back to my usual 30 days after this as it feels like such a waste of time!

HepKestrel · 21/04/2017 10:31

have a safe flight kathrino
(never been to Belfast, or NI even)

sk1pper · 21/04/2017 10:34

Ugh fucking hell Flash ..... FlowersFlowersFlowers

harrietm87 · 21/04/2017 10:39

Oh no flash so sorry.

kath I'm a Belfast girl too, all my family are there - I miss it badly! (Lived
In London 7 years now). Let us know if you need any tips for your next trip!

Flashinthepan · 21/04/2017 10:46

Thanks lovelies. I do have a sneaky galaxy caramel easter egg in my drawer which I am about to break into as you've all twisted my arm. Wink I'm pleased at least that I have this gynae appointment next week so I can start moving forward.

Hep I do exactly that. I don't hope, then I do, then I think it's all over so I tell myself all the good things I will do until I get pregnant, then i feel bad for jinxing it, in case I still am. What a mess! At my work on a Friday i could well get away with alcohol!

The only time I went to Belfast Kath was for work and ended up having dinner in the same restaurant as Jamie and Tyrion from Game of Thrones and their real-life wives! Sat opposite their table!

Binkybunny13 · 21/04/2017 11:09

So sorry af hit flash 🍫 And hope limbo stops soon hep 🤞

Sorry I've been largely MIA- had the worst af I've ever had land on my birthday, and had a bit of a meltdown as this means no baby for 2017. Stupid but we set ourselves silly milestones don't we- i had hoped id be preggo before the end of 2016, then by my birthday..sure I'll give myself another unrealistic hope soon

Anyway, af has been longer and more unpleasant than ever, plus I seem to have put weight on (my boobs)- I've been away for a couple of days but they don't really fit in my dresses I had bought to wear. Even DH mentioned they looked bigger and almost got excited that I may be upduffed (he generally keeps it very low key as he knows how desperate I am and is trying to be the balance to my extreme)- crushing to have to pop his bubble 😞

So, now with the PCOS diagnosis and fat boobs, I am going to try and lose some weight- I'm in normal BMI territory but a couple of kilos heavier than I'd like, and I hear with PCOS a BMI nearer 21 is best so here goes. I know a couple of you had been talking about losing some too- can you hold me accountable? I know there are other threads for weight loss but I like you girls and know you understand it's about more than fitting into a bikini

Obviously my weight loss will include a diet full of grapefruit juice, whole fat milk and pineapple...any other fertility/PCOS food advice gratefully received!

Binkybunny13 · 21/04/2017 11:09

(Sorry for the epic ramble!)

HepKestrel · 21/04/2017 11:13

no apologies needed binky - ramble away

Kathrino · 21/04/2017 11:19

I'm totally with you on the losing weight regime Binky so we can do it together. My diet has been such a mess recently. We're going on holiday in June and I'd like to have lost half a stone by then through a mix of exercise and eating much (much) less crap. I'm so sorry that you've been struggling recently; those milestones are such killers.
