Anne I read your post about the RMC with interest. We went to see consultant today after mmc at 8.5 weeks and decided to pay for the tests to speed things up as had ectopic 11 yrs ago and now 2 mc's in 16 months. She's testing for killer cells, blood clotting, chromosome and thyroid. She said it is more than likely that everything will come back ok and it's just bad luck but she has prescribed me the tablets and injections for killer cells and blood clot in case we do get pg again quickly which she said is common. She said often the tests come back negative but it's very hard to actually detect some of these problems, it might be very underlying or your levels can be very low so it shows as everything being ok when it's not. Doesn't sound v conclusive and quite grey but she said it won't harm you to take the medication if you do get pregnant again even if your tests come back all ok so guess it feels like we're covering the bases.
We felt quite positive afterwards as feels like someone's taking it seriously and we don't just have to leave it to chance and also that there are things you can do if something does show up. I was v concerned as I have a heart shaped womb and came on here and people scared the life out of me but she said today it's very slight and that's the least of our worries lol think she meant in a good way!

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2017 15:19

Sounds like you've got a brilliant doctor Chlo and I can totally relate to having a plan and someone taking you seriously. I'm so sorry for your losses. Do you have any children? My DH has two but I don't yet. 4 pregnancies under my belt, when's it going to happen...?

When will you get the results back? And do you know the names of what you're being prescribed?

I'm slightly concerned, mainly following the last yet-another loss that our guy is overly fixated on clotting as the issue to solve, when I know it could be any number of other issues instead or as well. My uterus is okay from the scans I've had. And I had a huge number of tests at the first apt but I don't know what they were for and really have to find out. I know with thyroid in particular they only test some elements/levels at a time. Because I was pregnant again by the time we got the results there wasn't time to do anything but quickly plan for the future and leave past tests behind.

I have another appointment soon so will ask for a proper look at it all. Do you kind if I PM you to nerd out about test results?

keeponrunning85 · 20/03/2017 15:54

Hello all. How's everyone doing?

Congratulations harriet! Fingers crossed for a sticky bean.

I'm desperately trying to hold on to my sanity now I'm in the second week of the TWW. Not sure how I'm feeling about my chances this month. DH and I didn't manage to DTD a huge amount in my fertile week due to him feeling poorly and then us both being away for work. Had a bit of a moment this morning when I felt like I just don't know how much longer I can do this for but cheered myself up with a trip to ikea! Also, as I haven't yet given up hope.of one day having my own child I don't have any bloody choice! Anyway, planning to test on Saturday if there's no sign of AF by then.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2017 16:08

Fx for you keepon, good work on the nice distractions! I ended up shopping online from Ikea after we moved but I'd love a rummage in the bit at the end with the tea lights. And a veggie hot dog!

How's the house, are you in the waiting for legal stuff and surveys part?

I know exactly what you mean about not having a choice. Have you had any moments when you've wished you could tell DH you're having a break and he can incubate the next one?

I guess there are actually options, my DH's two were IVF babies, but we wouldn't qualify for anything free because he has them, and I'm not struggling to conceive, just keep them in there. Which I know is the main thing! But if it's a ttc thing I can see how assistedness is helpful to bear in mind.

In terms of frequency, it only takes one x

Miami81 · 20/03/2017 16:32

Anne
I found this on another thread. I will figure out how to post the thread as well, but it is a very helpful list of the tests. So for next time you could maybe take this with you and be happy that they have tested you for everything? That's what I am planning anyway.

Is it a line? Time for some wine? Yep, it's TTC after miscarriage thread number nine.
AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2017 16:40

Miami Flowers You're the best. Thank you so much. When's your next appointment? Will you get results?

Miami81 · 20/03/2017 17:00

Finally got a scan appointment through for the 30th march. I think that might be it for me on NHS tests until such time as I maybe mc for a third time. So that's great.
Just been looking and there is a private fertility clinic in Edinburgh that do a lot of the tests (incl nk cells) so we might have a think about that.

Chlo22 · 20/03/2017 17:23

Hi Anne yes the doctor is great and she's a lovely lady too and really helps you to be positive about things. I think we should get most of the results back in 2 weeks but the chromosome one may take slightly longer. We don't have children yet which is why we just wanted to get the tests done there and then today and try to move forward and get some answers either way. How long have you been trying for? Are you going back to discuss the test results you got before or do you think you will have to have them again? I would definitely write everything down and also do a bit of research online first. Lots of the info out there can be quite scary but there are some good, informed websites out there so that you can go with a bit of an idea about what you're talking about (and what the doctors on about :) I made sure this time that I was clear on everything before we left as I don't want to have any questions or uncertainty. Please do feel free to PM any time

Bisquick · 20/03/2017 17:47

Sigh, day 3 of what I am optimistically continuing to tell Ovia is merely pink spotting, but I think it's a wonky period instead. Also had our consultant appointment today where he basically told us everything is inconclusive so they can't find any reason for losing our baby, but at least that means we can keep trying I suppose. Really having to look hard for those silver linings today.

Miami81 · 21/03/2017 07:07

Looks like I am out for this month. Big temp drop this morning at cd25.

NicolaC17 · 21/03/2017 07:24

Could it be an implantation dip Miami81?! When is AF due? X

Miami81 · 21/03/2017 07:38

Af due today or tomorrow. Did a test just to check. BFN. But that's ok. It would have been the same dates as my first mc baby from last year and I think that would have completely messed with my mental wellbeing! Thanks

keeponrunning85 · 21/03/2017 08:20

We've been in our house nearly 4 years Anne. Although, someone on here is buying a house, I can't remember who though! At the start of the year I finally gave in and painted the room I always thought I'd decorate as a nursery so was buying some bits for that. It is now a study and I haven't found doing it as upsetting as I thought I would.

Sorry about the BFN Miami. How long are your cycles? You know what we say though, you're not out until the witch shows up.

MulderitsmeX · 21/03/2017 08:58

Got a bfn this morning, only dtd 3 times last month due to Dh working so late, but concerned about having an Xmas baby but still going to try next month. Just want AF to come now.

Thinking of going to the doctor for tests but might leave it one more month as haven't actually been ttc for too long. Feeling rubbish today!!

NicolaC17 · 21/03/2017 09:00

Ahh sorry Miami81. It's so hard isn't it each time?! I'm currently in the TWW post chemical so not feeling optimistic even though we had a two month break to get some testing done.

Sorry to hear mulderitsmex Flowers

AnneLovesGilbert · 21/03/2017 11:20

Oh god, so sorry keepon, I'm being daft and mixing people up Blush It's peach, who namechanged. Forgive me. And I remember your thinking about what to do with your room so I'm glad it hasn't been too tough getting it sorted xx

Sorry for the BFN's today Sad Miami my cycles have been a bit longer since MMC and when I got my BFP the cycle before I had a BFN two days earlier, when I thought I was due, and a BFP two days later.

A really boring question if I may, and thank you to everyone who had advice when I asked about it before.

I contacted the Trust for my test results from RMC and they've sent a very confusing reply with an encryption link, costs of up to £50 and several mentions of my medical records, as if I've asked for everything they have on me. I really only want a list of the tests they did in that one appointment and the results.

Does anyone who works in the NHS know if this is possible? I might wait till my next appointment there and just ask him rather than risk a very expensive load of paperwork I don't need!

I was reading up on NK Cells last night as my doctor hasn't mentioned them. I'm trying in my head to rule out stuff based on the length of my longest pregnancy. Does that make sense? My longest one and mmc the baby developed till nearly 9 weeks, I found out at the 12 week scan, so I don't know what it's possible to rule out as a cause. The tissue they tested didn't have any issues, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't have been something wrong with me.

keeponrunning85 · 21/03/2017 15:07

Anne my understanding is that if you just want to see the results then you can ask that at your next appointment but if you want a hard copy this has to be requested formally and there usually is a fee.

I hope this link helps

keeponrunning85 · 21/03/2017 15:20

I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with all those posts people put on the conception boards with pictures of their pregnancy tests. I think rather than squinting at my own I'm just squinting at those instead! Not sure which is worse Confused

LisaSimpsonsbff · 21/03/2017 15:57

I'm also weirdly fascinated by those, keepon, BUT I'm also rubbish at them. I can never see anything, there's always a chorus of people saying 'definite BFP' and I always wonder whether I should take it upon myself to point out that that's a negative test and that there's no need to get this poor woman's hopes up any further. They then always, always come back two days later with an absolutely blazing BFP! Clearly I'm just missing some sort of line detecting vision!

BertieBotts · 21/03/2017 16:09

Squint to your heart's content!

Ha ha! Thanks Bertie! I'll literally never get any work done if I go on that.

Lisa the ones I don't get are the blatantly positive ones. Do they really need someone to confirm it?!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 21/03/2017 16:52

I think they probably do, and I kind of get that! When I got a positive I went straight out to buy another FRER and a clearblue digital, even though there was a very clear line and I knew perfectly well how unlikely a false positive was. When you really want something and then get it it can be hard to believe!

It does make me a bit sad that I'll never be that happy about a positive again. I also knew perfectly well how common early losses are, and I remember telling DH that it was too soon to be really excited. But there's a difference between knowing that in theory and knowing it because you've felt what it feels like when it goes wrong.

keeponrunning85 · 21/03/2017 17:17

Yes, totally. I desperately want another BFP but am also kind of dreading it because of the anxiety it'll bring and I know I'll just be waiting for it to go wrong again. As crap as the disappointment of AF arriving is each month I'm well practiced at that routine!

Bisquick · 21/03/2017 17:22

Ah sorry about all the BFNs this morning. Fingers crossed for anyone still on the TWW.
