I'm under the RMC Smurf, had two appointments with them, first one was 7 weeks after my MMC in November and I was referred by the hospital. My GP hasn't had anything to do with any of it.
As Miami says, there seems to be a big difference between them depending on where you are. I've been pleased with the care and support I've had so far. Back for another appointment end of the month.
My first appointment covered my history - pregnancies and miscarriages (I don't have any live children), operations, family history, test results from the surgical management and then I had blood tests taken.
It's a fortnightly afternoon clinic and I went back 4 weeks later, got a bfp that morning, so briefly covered the blood test results, which were clear, and a treatment plan to start that day. The consultant thinks clotting issues are to blame for a lot of mcs and my fatal tissue results showed a healthy baby with no abnormalities. The bloods for me were clear as well but I started on Fragmin/Clexane injections and had the option of progesterone suppositories as well in case of any spotting.
As it was, the pregnancy ended at 5 weeks in another mc so we're still ttc. But I feel good to have a plan in place/to go back to when we catch again.
They're all different though, waiting times, approaches, tests and drugs - in fact the inconsistency is crap and makes it hard to know what to expect or hope/ask for. I haven't called the miscarriage association to ask for more info on what tests they recommend, might still do that.
It's worth writing down a list of stuff you want answers to. My doctor has been really kind and patient with all my daft questions, and even anticipated others! You can also rule things out based on your experiences. Miami knew about her uterus shape already, for example, I have a vitamin deficiency and wasn't sure if that was a factor but I asked him and it's not. Try and build a picture.
Good luck. We're all here to chat to.
