Hi all
So I'm now almost 2 weeks after erpc.. We got to 6 weeks 6 days this time.. Although heart was still beating very slowly then but Baby never grew any bigger. First mmc baby stopped growing at 6w4d. Went to gp on Tuesday and she is referring me to recurrent miscarriage clinic.. Really don't know what to expect from it.. She didn't say much about it. Just told me I have to come back to her for bloods in 4 weeks time.. When I'll be 6weeks post miscarriage.
I really want us to try again although I am scared of it happening again ... Especially because we seem to get to around the 6week mark...
It's difficult listening to everyone say well it is good you know you can get pregnant...
I know some of you on here have been to rmc how long did you wait on Appointment? Did you wait for it before ttc again??
Thanks

theotherendofthesockportal · 18/03/2017 20:18

Thank you ladies for your support once again, I'm going to be a nervous wreck soon.

Thank goodness for this forum and the kindness of strangers, you really are my life line and sanctity.

@fluffiny31 how are you doing?

peachgreen · 18/03/2017 21:08

Well, I'm 12DPO, AF officially due on Monday but I just tested.Confused Nary a squinter so I guess I'm out for this month. I just can't work out what I'm doing wrong. We got pregnant our second month of trying before my miscarriage - this will be month 7 post miscarriage. Bah. I mean I know I'm not doing anything WRONG as such but it's just so weird that it was so easy last time and now so hard.

Miami81 · 18/03/2017 22:15

Smurf
Sorry you are here and sorry for your loss.
In terms of rmc, my gp referred me after 2 mc due to family history. At my rmc appointment they focussed entirely on clotting issues as that was what they thought could be the issue. They also arranged a scan for fibroids etc. Bloods results are back and apparently not got clotting issues and scan is on the 30th.
My last mc was December and our rmc appt was mid Feb. I think it can depend where you are.
My mc timings have been very similar to you, in that I seem to get to 6ish weeks and then not progress.
As you say there are a few of us that have been to rmc so feel free to ask any q's. all the best.
We have just started trying again this cycle (in tww at 23dpo at the moment), and I have to be honest it is one of the most head fuckey 2ww I have been through yet!!

Miami81 · 18/03/2017 22:18

Sorry you are out peach. Not out officially until AF rears her head!!
You won't be doing anything wrong, sometimes it just takes longer then you expect for everything to get back to normal. I know I didn't "feel" fertile again after the first mc until 6 months after.

WLMcI · 19/03/2017 08:35

sockportal I'm sorry you're stressing, it's such a head melt. Confused Fx for you and sending you good positive vibes!

Smurf I'm sorry for your losses; hope you get some answers from the rmc clinic.

peach it's a shit time coming up to AF's due date isn't it! We're all pulling for you and as Miami says, (and Lenny Kravitz) it ain't over till it's over! Xx

Smurf123 · 19/03/2017 09:44

Thanks miami my gp has referred me after two as she said she thinks it has been very difficult for us going through these two .. with the last one I found out I was pregnant by accident at a docs appointment when I must have only been about 2 or 3 weeks max so we watched it grow and the heart start and then stop at 3 scans over the following four weeks. Although I did have what may have been a chemical pregnancy at the end of December/ beginning of Jan so she has said for the purpose of referring she is including it as a third.
The timing just feels so strange I just feel that there must be something happening at 6 weeks ... but I don't know what :-(

Miami81 · 19/03/2017 10:14

Smurf
The six week thing does seem significant. From everything I have read, it is around the time that hb starts and also when placenta is supposed to be taking over. So if there are chromosome problems it can be as the hb starts that these seem to manifest. Also it seems from what I have read that if the placenta is not right, then this can be what makes it all unviable. That is why they were focussing on the clotting for me.
I have been doing acupuncture, a bit of yoga and taking loads of vits to try and give us as strong a chance next time as possible. We'll see.

BertieBotts · 19/03/2017 11:41

Yes we had both of our miscarriages at the same gestation, 5w+4d. In those early days it's literally one big system developing almost per day - I was reading about the thalidomide tragedy after watching call the midwife and it's astonishing that the literal day of pregnancy women took the drug denoted what disability their child would have.

5w4d is the development of the neural system which is the brain and spinal cord, so pretty major components there. I know it's not the same for everyone, but I do find it comforting to think that it's likely there was something catastrophically wrong and that's why the pregnancies ended. In our case we know DH has a balanced translocation which means an error on two of his chromosomes, we just don't know which ones, but we were thinking perhaps something related to that.

6 weeks exactly is the lower face - nose, mouth, ears, a bit more brain development and the pituitary gland.

Hi all and thanks for the advice fluff and WL. I tested on Saturday and got a faint positive at 12dpo, then a stronger one today at 14dpo (I'm on hols in HK atm so 8hrs ahead). So it looks like managed to get pregnant the month after my mc with no period in between. Very nervous after two early miscarriages (5 weeks). If I get to beyond where I did before I'll feel bit better. bertie the info about what develops when is so interesting!

Crazyvaperlady · 20/03/2017 07:58

Hi all! Officially in the TWW after not ovulating until today (conformed with temp dip) which is CD21!!! Really think I'm out this month as won't have a long enough luteal phase for implantation so it'll be AF or another chemical this month I'm sure of it :(
How's everyone else doing? Anyone testing soon??

WLMcI · 20/03/2017 07:58

Ooo harriet, congratulations!!!

Still awaiting first AF after mc here, at CD 37. Loooonnngggest 5 (and a bit) weeks ever; I feel like it's been a year. I tested again this morning just in case, but still negative, so that has set my mind at rest regarding a certain 2 glasses of wine the other night lol!

fluffiny31 · 20/03/2017 08:25

Sock how are you getting on? Smurf i hope you get some answers soon. Harriet congratulations. I'll keep my fx for you.

Well i got my bfn today to say it's all over again now to decide how my life pans out. I'm going to leave the chat now whilst I get my head around everything i may pop back to see how your all doing. I wish you all every success you all seem wonderful ladies that deserve your rainbows fx for you all. Thank you so much for your support and advice whilst I've been here i actually don't know where I'd be without you all. Sending you all FlowersCake good luck everyone. Xxx

BertieBotts · 20/03/2017 08:41

Great news harriet, lovely to find out on holiday too.

I have a promising looking implantation dip going on. So the next week of the TWW is going to go sooo slowly. www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1ea3be

Hugs again fluff, good luck for the future, I hope it brings you happiness Flowers

Congratulations, Harriet! Did your lines get darker with your previous pregnancies? Mine didn't when I lost at five weeks, so it seems like a good sign if they are?

Fluff, I'm so sorry for what you've been through. I hope you have people around you to talk to, and that you're able to grieve in the way you want to.

Slightly confusingly, I got a flashing smiley on my Clearblue OPK yesterday - much earlier than expected, since this is only cycle day 11 (counting the first day of miscarriage bleeding as day 1). Last month I ovulated on day 14, but that was unusually early (it's always been day 18/19 in previous months) and I thought the miscarriage would probably delay it at least a little. Really annoyingly for the first time ever the test just didn't work this morning - the reader just didn't recognise the stick! I imagine I'm in for a fair few days of flashing faces, though, so I doubt today's reading is crucial.

NicolaC17 · 20/03/2017 10:09

Looks promising BertieBotts. Keep us updated. I'm 3dpo and already it's dragging. Holding out to test in 1st April (not making the mistake of last time and testing a week before and then have a chemical)

Miami81 · 20/03/2017 11:12

Congrats Harriet. Great news.
I am cd24/25. Cycle normally 26 days so I may test tomorrow, but is my mom's birthday and if I was and it all went wrong again I am not sure I want the date to be so memorable. Already did that earlier in the year with our wedding anniversary.......
but I haven't had a temp dip so I really don't think I am. May just do it to get it out of my system!!!
Ideally would wait to Thursday. I have been temping so if it starts to drop I just won't bother testing, which to me is the best part of temping. Removes a lot of the poas urges.

Miami81 · 20/03/2017 11:15

Lisa
Have you had a negative hpt? I think sometimes opks can pick up residual pregnancy hormone. Some people use them as early pregnancy tests for that reason. So it may not be ovulation yet, just some leftover hormones. Have you had any other signs of ov?

Bisquick · 20/03/2017 11:32

Ladies who've been pregnant before, did your period/ovulation symptoms change dramatically after a pregnancy?

I used to have mild periods, no pain during ovulation etc. It's now been 17 days since my first postpartum period, and I've been having pink mucus / spotting and v tiny clots + occasional twinges. It's too early for a period and for implantation bleeding - is it possible it could be ovulation bleeding? I've never had that before. Has made DTD rather unromantic (but we persist nonetheless).

Bisquick · 20/03/2017 11:33

Sorry, meant to add my OPKs have all been inconclusive so far although I've not always remembered to use FMU each day.
I know it's only been seven weeks since the stillbirth and delivery so my insides still feel a bit beaten up, but desperately hoping to get a BFP soon.

Miami81 · 20/03/2017 11:43

Bisquick
Yes to random ov symptoms after mc. I had ov bleed in the cycle straight after, never had it before or since. It is all very weird, but I took it all as a sign that my body was working away furiously trying to reset itself.
Also think opks are maybe better later in the day? Not sure fmu is best, I don't really use them though so am sure someone with more experience will be able to help.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2017 11:47

Congratulations harriet, lovely news! Smile

fluff, sending you a massive hug. You've been on such a rollercoaster and you've kept your sense of humour and your kindness, you're an inspiration and have been such a support to so many of us, thank you x

Hope you're going alright with the waiting Miami, maybe have a drink of something nice for your Mum's birthday and poas the day after. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you. I was completely sure I was out the cycle before and I know it didn't get very far, but I did get my bfp. You never know.

Bisquick I had what I think was implantation bleeding in my first proper post mc cycle and soooo many stabs and twinges. Was such a shock! But a couple of the ladies on here had had the same. Didn't get it this cycle so was just a blip.

Lisa, I ovulated on CD 8 one post mc cycle last summer and caught. Completely mad but it definitely happened.

That's so interesting Bertie, thank you for sharing.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2017 11:57

I'm under the RMC Smurf, had two appointments with them, first one was 7 weeks after my MMC in November and I was referred by the hospital. My GP hasn't had anything to do with any of it.

As Miami says, there seems to be a big difference between them depending on where you are. I've been pleased with the care and support I've had so far. Back for another appointment end of the month.

My first appointment covered my history - pregnancies and miscarriages (I don't have any live children), operations, family history, test results from the surgical management and then I had blood tests taken.

It's a fortnightly afternoon clinic and I went back 4 weeks later, got a bfp that morning, so briefly covered the blood test results, which were clear, and a treatment plan to start that day. The consultant thinks clotting issues are to blame for a lot of mcs and my fatal tissue results showed a healthy baby with no abnormalities. The bloods for me were clear as well but I started on Fragmin/Clexane injections and had the option of progesterone suppositories as well in case of any spotting.

As it was, the pregnancy ended at 5 weeks in another mc so we're still ttc. But I feel good to have a plan in place/to go back to when we catch again.

They're all different though, waiting times, approaches, tests and drugs - in fact the inconsistency is crap and makes it hard to know what to expect or hope/ask for. I haven't called the miscarriage association to ask for more info on what tests they recommend, might still do that.

It's worth writing down a list of stuff you want answers to. My doctor has been really kind and patient with all my daft questions, and even anticipated others! You can also rule things out based on your experiences. Miami knew about her uterus shape already, for example, I have a vitamin deficiency and wasn't sure if that was a factor but I asked him and it's not. Try and build a picture.

Good luck. We're all here to chat to.

theotherendofthesockportal · 20/03/2017 13:11

@fluffiny31 I have nausea and spots, and trying to embrace it all as much as possible to encourage this baby to stick around. I'm sad to see that you are leaving us fluff, you are in my thoughts. I wish you well for whichever direction your life takes. We will all still be here if you want to come back

@AnneLovesGilbert I have the same vitamin deficiency as you and my doctor is carrying out some investigations as to how it should be treated in pregnancy. My experience is that doctors are clueless about this illness. I wrote a nasty letter to my doctor about it all, and will hopefully have an update on Thursday. I'll share my findings with you.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2017 13:22

I'd love to know how you get on with that sock, please let me know what they say. When I was 5 weeks pregnant I spoke to my GP who wanted a baseline as I hadn't had a test of B12 levels for a while. I didn't get specific results, just "satisfactory" via the receptionist, so not wildly illuminating. She was going to order more bloods as the pregnancy progressed to see whether the level was dropping and I needed more frequent jabs.

I've been on them for years and years now, no idea how many but probably 7 or 8, and since I went to 10 weekly ones the levels have been fine to good when I've had an annual test and I don't have the horrible dip when one's due unless I have a heavy period just before.

My other issue is chronically low ferritin, which they can't seem to get up with anything, and I've tried several things, so they gave up. It's meant to be 80+ but mine's never got above 28 so it's obviously an issue but I just don't respond to anything.

Have you got any other blood issues? How long have you been on the B12?

The RMC consultant made notes on everything but wasn't worried there were any implications for making baby or carrying but I might dig a bit further into that.
