Thread 26. TTC #1 - Calm as a hysterical cucumber

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Here's our Grad's Thread. May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Hi alexia. I don't post much here anymore seeing as I'm starting IVF (start injections tomorrow!) but I came on to say when my best friend miscarried at 6 weeks when I had been ttc for about 7 months (and that was well over a year ago!) I had such conflicting emotions. I felt very sad for her of course but I hated myself for feeling something else - relief? It was her first month trying properly I think and she got pregnant and had her dd the very next cycle after her MC. However I still battle that feeling. I wanted you to know you're not alone in mixed feelings. Infertility isn't just a condition - you feel it like a loss every single month and I think as a result we go through the full range of grief including disbelief, anger etc. It's tough but just try and focus on one day at a time. Take care.

sk1pper · 01/03/2017 07:39

Alexia - I can't imagine what it must feel like to loose both tubes Sad

kwick · 01/03/2017 08:07

Fricking hate emotions Alexia!!! Completely understand what you are saying.

geeup best of luck with injections!

On my way to work - first day in since mc... very anxious, hopefully without cause. Know I have over 800 emails..

Kathrino · 01/03/2017 08:25

Good luck for today kwick, I hope it goes as well as it can in the circumstances. Thinking of you Flowers

Geeup, I hope your IVF journey is as easy possible. Good luck with the injections!

harrietm87 · 01/03/2017 08:28

Oh kwick good luck. It will be fine. Good luck to you too geeup.

I'm on day 4 of flashing smileys now - has anyone had this? Think I felt relieved about cycles returning too soon.

Londonjam · 01/03/2017 08:33

Thanks alexia

Good luck today kwick take it easy as you can

I'm feeling quite crampy today and keep having to suppress runaway thoughts that I'll be one of those 'got their BFP right before their fertility appointment' people. Yeah right - not going to happen. I really should just POAS to shut my poor desperate brain up but I can't face starting the day with BFN. Sorry to be a broken record this week!

Londonjam · 01/03/2017 08:34

Meant to say good luck starting injections gaelach

Londonjam · 01/03/2017 08:35

Geeup !! I'm half asleep please excuse me 😴

harrietm87 · 01/03/2017 08:38

jam how many dpo will you be tomorrow? Maybe you should test in the morning?

Londonjam · 01/03/2017 08:46

Tomorrow will be 12 DPO harriet yeah I reckon I'll do one in the morning so I'm armed and ready. I'm in such a bloody mard again today! So sick of all this!

harrietm87 · 01/03/2017 08:50

Yes I would do a FRER just in case. Though would still be pretty early. Even if it's bfn though at least with the appt you'll be making progress. I'm seriously considering one of those private checkups - if there's something wrong with me I want to know!

FXSkip · 01/03/2017 09:26

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop in and say hello, and congrats Tonks. Please come and join us on the grads thread, apart from Poppet I think I'm the last one there. If there are any other bfp-ers out there please join us on the TTC1 Grads thread!

geeup I guess you're coming up to 2 years, great that you're getting IVF and I hope you get lucky first time 😊🍀 Jam fx for you tomorrow and kwick I hope today is nowhere near as bad as you fear. Chin up, you'll get through it xxx

Kathrino · 01/03/2017 09:35

Jam, doing a FRER in the morning sounds sensible. I imagine it's the first thing the doc may ask you anyway. I really hope it goes well tomorrow, I'll be sending lots of good vibes your way.

Harriet, I'm so glad that we paid to get some tests done privately. We've probably spend about a grand (2 x appointments with consultants, DH's SA and my ovarian reserve test) but it was money well spent to give me the peace of mind that, apart from the slightly low morphology which I'm not too fussed about, there's nothing wrong and we're not wasting our time by trying! I realise that it still might not happen for us without IVF but at least, for now, I'm happy knowing that we just haven't had that one lucky sperm yet!

Flashinthepan · 01/03/2017 09:55

Morning all. Hope everyone is doing ok. Good luck today Kwick and Geeup.

FX for you Jam both for a surprise BFP but also that your appointment is helpful and positive.

Sorry for anyone I've missed, Brew for anyone who needs it.

AlexiaB · 01/03/2017 10:09

Thank you geeup, that's sadly very true. Best of luck with your IVF journey. Please don't feel like you can't post much here? I'm very interested in following your journey to motherhood. Also, if you haven't already found some other supportive online communities, the FF forums are very good for info/support with IVF. Loads of people doing IVF on there.

Hope today isn't too awful kwick. Take it easy BrewFlowers

Jam I'd definitely do a FRER tomorrow before your appointment. Good luck 🍀

Keep at it Harriet, hopefully you'll get your smiley in the next few days. How's your CM and other signs? Are you using ic opks as well to check progression?

Hi there everyone - have been quiet but still following and rooting for everyone! Am on CD21 here with AF due a week today - no symptoms at all (but I never have any symptoms) and am not tracking anything so it's been easier to carry on with life 🙂

I felt the same about our tests kath - I just wanted to know, and it's valuable to know that there isn't anything fundamentally wrong and knowing my lower than average AMH means we'll spring into action sooner rather than later if we have no luck over next couple of months.

Fx for you jam - am rooting for a pre-appt BFP for you too, I would test as well, but remember it's still early.

Am feeling a bit 'meh' about the whole thing to be honest. I was catching up with a friend yesterday and she said that once I get a BFP, I'll forget all of this and it won't seem like it was that long a wait. I find that difficult to imagine!

macsworth · 01/03/2017 10:31

Just popping on to say good luck to kwick for your first day back. I hope you're able to take it easy.

And to jam. Pre appointment BFP would be magical but if it's not there at least you're finally in the right place and taking a massive step forward. I hope it's all smooth. Have you got a list of questions prepared?

All quiet here, just chugging on with life. Got offered a new job on Monday which is brill because my current one is not so great. And have been busy planning Japan. Not focusing on TTC going pretty well so far!

Londonjam · 01/03/2017 10:57

Don't have any FRERS!

These are my questions / topics ;

Me
Prolactin
Short periods
Abdo pain in night
Hycosy / HSG?
Ovarian reserve test?
Clomid?
Should I take anything to improve egg quality
How often should we have sex?
Lifestyle changes e.g. Alcohol

Him
Morphology
Proxeed
Lifestyle changes e.g. Alcohol
Does low morphology suggest other sperm problems e.g. Sperm survival or DNA?
Further sperm tests
IVF / ICSI
Treatment timelines

Am I missing anything?

I'm all over the place today. So emotional angry wired impatient despairing sad mad !!!! So much for being calmer - this is what hormones do to me!!

Well done on job offer macs that's awesome
Flash how are you doing?
Hello fxskip hope all going well with you thanks for thinking of us
Pyjamas I think I can safely say I will never forget going through this!! I'm hoping it will make me a very grateful pregnant woman one day who will never take the miracle of conception lightly or for granted

AlexiaB · 01/03/2017 11:24

Congrats on the new job macs 🎉

Same Jam! I'll be the happiest, least moany pregnant woman in the world. I'll never ever forget this journey. It's been 2 years of absolute hell, it also makes me so scared thinking about TTC baby #2. Would that be the same hell or would our luck change? Scary!

Your list is very thorough. Only thing I'd add is Sperm DNA fragmentation testing, but you did mention DNA so you probably know that. Also buy a FRER!

Flashinthepan · 01/03/2017 11:49

I'm ok thanks Jam. AF lasting for 5 days rather than the recent 3-4, so hoping that might signal some change of fortune. I'm on the B50 Mega Complex so FX that helps regulate my whole cycle. It has folic acid in it too, so other than that not going to do anything TTC related other than GOS.

I'm focusing on fitness and weight loss atm, would like to lose about a stone. So obsessing over that is leaving less time for worrying about TTC.

harrietm87 · 01/03/2017 11:51

jam you sound so well prepared. It will be good for your DH too - might help him realise how complex it all is and how he can help by not drinking etc.

alexia you are such a font of knowledge! I did an ic last night and it looked darker than normal so I'm hoping I'm getting there but just a bit slower than normal. I usually ovulate cd20 but for some reason ovia has predicted it will be cd19 so my FW is a day out. Lucky really as DH is away tonight.

ViSovari · 01/03/2017 12:55

Just had a quick catch up to say thanks Alexia for the tip- it probably is an annovulatory cycle after doing a google but usually I still get the full flow cramps etc. So this is my body now adding in a new symptom! Font of knowledge you are!

Good luck at work today kwick

I'll try and catch up later today and not be so self centred just posting about me and my bloody crazy cycle!!!!

Pugmummy87 · 01/03/2017 13:14

Welcome back kwick. Big unmumsnetty hug to you. Hope your first day back isn't too bad.

Good luck with your appt tomorrow london. That is a very thorough looking list of questions, hope you get some answers.

Good luck with starting IVF geeup, I echo others, please don't feel you can't post on here, we are all interested in your journey.

I got a phone call from the hospital yesterday offering me an earlier appt for 2 weeks time, but DH is away and can't get out of it. They did say if they put on any more extra clinics then they will call me. I'm happy with April (as nice as it would be to get some answers sooner), gives me more time to get rid of this blubber I'm carrying around.

QuietTime · 01/03/2017 13:55

Congrats on the job macs!

Good luck with the health drives, and all the best for the appointment jam, hope you get some useful answers & peace of mind
