Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

sk1pper I had a bit of a melt down first time.... not too sure why... had a bit of a cry, went to the loo and then was okay. It is the only part of treatment where you need to have someone with you due to general anaesthetic and you feel sore after. Whilst I may profess that I would like a life partner, I am very independent and do not like having to rely on others (even close family) for anything....
Oh yeah and they have to put in a canula and I hate how that feels...
Also not too keen on backless gowns and being knickerless and showing my bum-bum to whole fricking theatre.... Grin

kwick · 02/01/2017 21:35

Welcome colour!!! What is a static smiley? if in doubt LSFX!!!

Kathrino · 02/01/2017 21:36

Thanks kwick, that looks pretty convenient and the website makes some impressive claims! (PS I can't seem to reply to your PM but will do so tomorrow when I'm not on my phone!)

Welcome colour, I've never really got OPKs to work for me but I like the attitude of just DTD a lot! Welcome to other newbies too :)

Londonjam · 02/01/2017 21:39

Thanks for all the information ladies. So so helpful. Okay I won't pursue any illegal clomid / femara routes 😬. I will mention it when we see the specialist though. We don't have an appointment yet but GP said chase mid January if you haven't heard anything.

I've read a bit around it and not sure if IUI is best route when you have low morphology - although as kwick points out it does get optimised before they pop it in. Like you said gee I wonder if putting it in an ivf savings pot makes more sense

Please do report back on SA improvements! DH has another SA this month, am hoping less alcohol and all the proceed has helped

Pugmummy87 · 02/01/2017 21:40

Pug
Age 30 (as of today!)
TTC #1
Cycle 16? Well over a year anyway.
PCOS diagnosis 6/7 years ago.
Recent blood tests normal, DH has a ridiculously good supermarket count, no issues with him!
Our first fertility clinic appt on the NHS is in April.
Trying Ovusense sensor at moment.

Happy birthday for yesterday Harriet! January 87 a good time to be born eh? Wink

Thanks for the positive vibes alexia I appreciate it. AF due Friday. However temp drop today and the spotting has started, so I'm not overly hopeful now. I'm out for my birthday party on Friday too, so will have to test if af doesn't show just to check if I can drink or not!

I've had a lovely day in London today with DH. He has got me a voucher for a boudoir photo shoot! I asked if that was more for he's benefit than mine and he said no, he just wants to give my self confidence a boost. Bless him. I'm very lucky.

colourmylife · 02/01/2017 21:41

kwick static smiley face symbol on the digital clear blue opks means peak fertility and that I will ovulate in next 12-36 hours but think I got a false positive as they normally need a few days beforehand to test your hormone base levels. I'm seeing this as a practise run and next month I'll read the instructions properly.

sk1pper · 02/01/2017 21:50

Kwick - I had to Google cannula, I'm fortunate in that I've never been to hospital for anything major especially as I have mild Nosocomephobia and anything like that gives me the creeps. I kind of hear the term IUI a lot on MN and haven't fully realised what women like yourself have been through!

kwick · 02/01/2017 21:53

pug supermarket cout 🤣Love it!!!!
Your DH sounds lovely.

colour you need to get going with DTD!!!

kwick · 02/01/2017 21:54

Oops * supermarket count

Londonjam · 02/01/2017 21:57

Kathrino we've used Create for the SA. I don't have much to report as I didn't go! Good luck with your gp

Good luck also skipper tomorrow let us know how it goes

HepKestrel · 02/01/2017 21:57

colour I have used clearblue, and IC. In fact I used them both for one month. My conclusion is just to stick with IC.

You can consider them as a clear analogue measurement that you interpreter as opposed to clearblue where you have to trust the device interpretation.

If this is a test month for you, I recommend using both simultaneously to learn. You can pick up the IC very cheap on Amazon.

Londonjam · 02/01/2017 21:57

Ahh and happy birthday pug 🎊🥂

colourmylife · 02/01/2017 22:04

Thanks Hepkestrel I will have a look at ordering some.
The clear blue tests are so expensive!

colourmylife · 02/01/2017 22:05

Happy birthday Pug I'm also 30 this month. Lots of January 87 babies on this thread.

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 22:06

Welcome colour. Did you do a CBAD test yesterday morning (what face did you get)? I'd be inclined to trust it as those static smileys are hard to come by but would want to back it up with an internet cheapie opk. Dtd asap because sperm needs time to capacitate.

Jam will definitely update. Fx the changes make a difference for your DH. I'd get calling asap because I'm impatient

Oh no Pug so sorry to hear about your temp drop and spotting Sad Glad you had a great birthday though, and I agree your DH sounds lovely!

Sorry crossed posts with Hep. Completely agree re clearblue - huge waste of money! I still have one full box unopened.

Happy birthday pug! We're only a day apart! I always thought I'd have babies by 30 (silly and arbitrary I know) - let's hope we manage it this year!

Welcome newbies and good luck skipper!

ERest · 02/01/2017 22:24

Thanks for the welcome Alexia!

MouseLove · 02/01/2017 22:42

Kwick you got me cracking up on the old thread. 😂
😊
😊
😊
I'm currently replaying all the things I shouldn't have done in the past few weeks (coffee, hot bath, no DTD, deli meats) and scratching my head as to when I ovulated. I will not worry myself. What will be will be. Ordered some new vitamins. Trying to keep my feet warm.

MissyJones83 · 02/01/2017 22:45

miwelais sorry no to cymraeg Smile

skipper all best for tomorrow. Would love to know more about how you sorted your screwed up luteal phase...
