Getting ready for baby challenge

Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Morning ladies. Ah this makes me feel a bit better as it looks like a few of you will be waiting a while too. We'd like to have 2 (if genders are the same would consider 3 but think 2 would work best for us). We ideally want a two year age gap so we will be hopefully returning to U.K. with two kids!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. Oh and wiggley- I just found out that one of DHs chavvy cousins has a kid with one of our names so I've had to ditch it too. Even though I really like the name, the association with them would bug me! It is hard. Don't beat yourself up!

Confused I didn't have the mirena I was on Cerelle same as redpony but I've had sore boobs and nausea and really bad tiredness!

That pill suppresses ovulation & I think also stops womb lining from thickening - hence why I had no bleeding at all while on it - only a bit of brown spotting now I'm off it. I highly doubt I could have ovulated in the ten days immediately after coming off it (and we only DTD without pulling out the day I came off it) and without a nice fresh lining to implant where would a fertilised egg go?
But of course I've tested - twice! Both negative. I thought I could see a shadow of a line but I think I imagined it. I attached pics!

Red I'm the same in wanting to continue my hobbies, travel etc so two little ones wouldn't be practical. if all goes to plan DD will be almost 13 by the time it's born! Scary!

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 10:27

Been out for a run this morning! First one in several months and it wasn't pretty. I managed 5k though and enjoyed it in a way 😂

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 10:29

I can't see a line squirrel.
I think you got away with it Smile

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 07/01/2017 12:06

We had an indoor ski lesson earlier. My legs feel like jelly but it was good fun! Going again next weekend. Had omelette and toast for late breakfast and doing a SW curry this eve. I do feel slimmer already from eating better this week. Just need to make sure I keep it up (or down rather!)

Oo, that sounds like fun theres! Definitely more adventurous than my morning of sitting on the sofa and feeling sorry for myself with a giant bag of peanuts! All I want to do during AF is stuff my face. Which makes me feel completely guilty on top of generally feeling miserable!!

JB1983 · 07/01/2017 15:19

We are hoping for two little ones (just not at the same time) but already feel like time is ticking!! Can't wait to get this baby show on the road!
I have serious baby envy today. I have spent all morning organising and baking for a baby shower tomorrow. I'm so happy for my friend but just wish it was my turn. Roll on April, even if we don't get pregnant straight away at least we will be trying, just feel in limbo at the moment!

Redpony1 · 07/01/2017 16:30

Well done Oyster on your run! It will get easier Smile
I done 7k today (incl Parkrun), but have a 10mile XC race tomorrow! (Less of the race for me, just taking part Grin )

I have a friends baby shower next weekend, going to be lovely. I hate al the games & stuff but love seeing the presents & little clothes!

MrsC2017 · 07/01/2017 17:42

oyster & pony well done on the running !!
I am between having one more and two more, I think if I have a girl this time that could well be it but if it's another boy I might consider another go, not that I don't love having a boy, I absolutely do, I'm very close with my mum though and would like that for myself also but we will see!
Totally get the jealousy, a friend told me before Xmas she was expecting and I was so happy for her but because we had decided in July to try in January and I was playing the waiting game I was so jealous! But time has really flown by and here we are ready to go in a week or so I'm sure your month's will roll in quickly too!

Wiggleyfingers · 07/01/2017 18:37

Looking for some advice from anyone who has successfully used OPK's!

This morning I felt cramps on my left side, suspiciously like ovulation pain but I'm only on CD9. I tried an OPK for the first time and it was an undeniable BFN, not even a hint of a second line. Fast forward to this evening and have been having the pain on and off now so still wondering if I am actually ovulating. But am I right in understanding that the second line gets increasingly darker the closer you get to ovulation? So there is no point in testing again now as it wouldn't go from nothing to 2 dark lines in a day? I'm so baffled by OPK's. I took it at 11:30 this morning after not weeing for 2 hours if you think that would make any difference?

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 18:41

I used opks last time and I pretty much always got some kind of line that gradually darkened until ovulation then darkened again a little bit as af approached.
I would think that on CD9 and a negative opk I'd be surprised if it's ovulation pain you're having.

Wiggleyfingers · 07/01/2017 18:47

Thanks - I thought as much! Just random cramps then. Fingers crossed for a few days time. Smile

ChunkyButFunky · 07/01/2017 19:17

Hello you lovely ladies,

Please can I join in? Grin I've been lurking quite a while.

Not actively ttc yet, but had a very long and deep conversation with DP at the beginning of the week and we feel that soon will be the right time to start our little family. Getting excited already at the thought :)

Looking forward to getting to know you all x

DancingUnicorn · 07/01/2017 19:53

Hi chunky! Exciting times ahead Smile

samidolls · 07/01/2017 20:05

squirrel I was on cerelle and it took 8-9 weeks for AF to arrive after coming off it. And my boobs were soooooooo sore. Even if we had of been ttc I didn't want DH anywhere near me my boobs then!!

coragreta · 07/01/2017 20:58

Well done on all the running. I'm running too, although not today and not as far as you. Tend to do around 3 miles a few times a week.
I've lost 3lbs this week too. So getting closer to the stone I want to lose before March.
Just wondered if anyone was putting off ttc to avoid an awkward birthday. DH has said March but that was when our DC was conceived and birthday is very close to xmas and mine is just after so I'm thinking of waiting an extra month.
It's a pain because I feel like you JB. It's like limbo just waiting to start trying. Plus it took 18months last time. Could take twice that now.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 07/01/2017 21:26

Thanks Sami it's great to hear others' experiences. Still nothing here except sore boobs and bloating. 12 days since last pill. Boring!

I'm going to weigh myself Monday, I can't put it off any longer.

Been feeling a bit down today as DH has apparently "gone off sex" because of his "complicated feelings" about TTC why are men so bloody dramatic while I'm climbing the walls with frustration (sign of ovulation or natural libido returning maybe???) Blush

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 21:28

I was on cerelle before DD. My periods returned almost straight away but my cycle was a bit long for a couple of months. It took 5 months to conceive.

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 21:29

"Complicated feelings"? Hmm
Men! Do you know what his problem is?

TheGrumpySquirrel · 07/01/2017 21:35

Oyster I've an inkling it's like baby mode and sex mode are so far apart for him.. also he's worrying about the practical side of a new baby (as am I) but he insists he still wants to go ahead... he is scared of me getting pregnant right now though I think!

DancingUnicorn · 07/01/2017 21:40

Grumpy 🙄 men! I can totally empathise with the sore boobs. Also my libido bounced right back after coming off cerezette (having hated sex for months). Frustrating that he's not as up for it!

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 22:32

When you're properly trying maybe don't talk to him about ovulation dates etc? I think it can be a bit of a turn off for them if they know they need to perform on a particular day.
Ttc isnt very romantic, I'd be lying there after wondering if it'd be impolite to add dtd to my app or if I should do some cuddling first.

MrsC2017 · 07/01/2017 23:37

coregeta I like u am humming and hawing about birthdays, my ideal is to have a baby in October for work reasons, but that relies on me falling pregnant on my first try this cycle which lets face it isn't likely, being due in the summer is currently not good for me work wise although I'm hoping my job will change in the next few months so that might too. DS is January so I think if I haven't conceived before April cycle I'll skip it to avoid another January birthday, DS wouldn't take kindly to any imposition on him being king of the castle Grin
grumpy men..... Can Never mean what they say or say what they me and then they say we are the confusing onesConfused
chunky welcome!!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 08/01/2017 06:53

Aww Grumpy one of my friends DH was a bit like this. What she did was keep all ovulation chat to a minimum. He wanted to just try with no pressure for a while and see what happened. Meanwhile she was charting and tracking behind the scenes and they conceived on second try! Best of luck!
