My stats are -

Cycle -- hard to put a number on, been trying a year but have had two losses, 5w and 12w so not sure where to count from.

Hi you lovely lot, would like to join the bus please!
Age: 33
Ttc #3 (but dc are 12 & 9) this would be dp #1
Cycle: 6
Cd 15
Af due 8th Jan (my birthday!)
Would be the best birthday present ever if we got a bfp!
Hope everyone's having a lovely Christmas and getting lots of bd in!
I fell pregnant 1st time trying with both my dc but I was in my early twenties, finding it hard that it's taking a bit longer this time, especially working in maternity services (I'm a sonographer) so spend my days scanning pregnant ladies!

Hippychic79 · 26/12/2016 19:20

Fx Kirsty xxxx
I get frustrated about timing the dtd ... your not alone. xxx

DuRezidal · 26/12/2016 19:27

JackiePaper I am also 33 and my DD will be 5 in a few days. I became pregnant really quickly with her but this is our 2nd cycle and I think it is going to be much harder this time around.

Kirsty8333 · 26/12/2016 20:00

Thanks hippychic. I think I'm finding it harder this time as miscarried in early November so want it even more now.

Hi Jackiepaper and DuRezidal I'm also 33 and fell pregnant really quickly with my other 2.

Lulu298 · 26/12/2016 20:47

Stats
CD: - 1
TTC#2
Cycle 1
AF due 28.1.17

DD is 14 months

DuRezidal · 26/12/2016 21:05

Kirsty I am worried that now, being mid thirties, it will be a lot harder for me to get pregnant. I have friends who started trying for their first baby and found it quite tough, then also have a friend who was NTNP and became pregnant straight away. So very mixed experiences of getting pregnant at this age.

Londonexhile · 26/12/2016 21:14

I don't know why I do it to myself...I know it's far to early to test.... but I'm a sadist clearly... Xmas AngryXmas Angry

7/8DPO but had all sorts of twinges over the past couple of days & unusually tender breasts so decided what the hell...POAS...late Christmas present... of course, BFN & now in a bit of a Boxing Day silk which I'm trying to suppress with Ferrero Rocher...

AF due 1/1 ish. I hope you all have more willpower than I do.

Londonexhile · 26/12/2016 21:19

*sulk

Twinges could also be due to ridiculous overeating & Brussel sprouts I suppose... Xmas BlushXmas Hmm

BertieBotts · 26/12/2016 23:27

Welcome newbies. It's so exciting! :)

AF has finished so waiting for fertile week now. Not sure when to expect it. I'm CD7 and ovulate between CD 14-21 so could begin any time this week. I don't think it's here yet.

Jackie that must be a very emotional job.

Jellybabie3 · 27/12/2016 00:17

Hi Bertie interesting you say ovulating cd14 but you dont think started yet...are you expecting it/can it be early? I am cd 11 now and so far have only negative opks. I am expecting fertile week to start wednesday according to ovia -when are my best dtd days?? I have family staying Blush

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 27/12/2016 00:27

Symptom spotting. ALL the symptom spotting.

Bubblegum89 · 27/12/2016 00:40

Took this about an hour or so ago. I did one this morning and got a faint-ish kind but now I've got this one (test line is the one nearest the "mark" part) so I'm guessing it's positive and I've been ovulating today. Which would explain the awful cramps I've been having! We DTD on Saturday and Sunday and probably again when I finally get to bed tonight/this morning. Fingers crossed we've been doing it at the right time!

January bus anyone?
BertieBotts · 27/12/2016 01:47

Really depends on your cycle Jelly. I have a 12 day luteal phase but my whole cycle varies between 4 and 5 weeks (literally 28-34 days), it's my ovulation day which changes. I went through the free course on fertility friend's app which helped me a lot. Apparently your luteal phase is always consistent, if you have irregular cycles, it's your ovulation date which changes. Ovia isn't very accurate and doesn't represent the fertile period very well. But you could input your data from Ovia into fertility friend and it will show you what the patterns are/have been. I temp and don't use OPKs. For me I tend to get very noticeable fertile mucous from 5-6 days before ovulation so it's very clear when I'm in the fertile period. Sometimes it happens just as AF ends (that will be my day 14 ovulation) and sometimes it can be up to a week or 10 days between the end of AF and the start of the fertile week (my day 21 ovulation, sometimes with short AF too).

There isn't really a "best" time to DTD if I understand correctly. Any time within the fertile period (5 days before ovulation plus 24 hours after) is good timing. Even just doing it once within that time is enough, the reason they suggest that it's better to do it more is because it increases the chances that you actually hit that window. If your calculations or estimates are off then you might miss it with DTD only once. If you do it a few times over the estimated week, then it is more likely you'll have managed it. With Ovia, the percentage chances of each day work much better if you read it as being what percentage the app is sure that you're fertile on that day, ie, whether that day is within the fertile window. When it's a high percentage it means that you might ovulate on that day or a few days after that day but it's definitely in the right zone. When it's a low percentage it means it thinks that day might be somewhere on the edge of the fertile window and hence may or may not be a fertile day after all.

Bubblegum, that looks positive to me! :) You ovulate 24-48 hours after the surge so your timing sounds great.

krakentoast · 27/12/2016 02:09

CD23. Symptom spotting like crazy too, even though I promised myself I wouldn't!

But, I keep telling myself, who doesn't feel bloated and nauseous just after christmas?!

Hippychic79 · 27/12/2016 06:57

Welcome all new passengers :)) let's hope we're not on here for long!
London - I'm no expert but that sounds very early to test so try not to be too disheartened. I've got a selection of pregnancy tests (a poas addict in the making) and they all state that earlier you test the lower the % rate of accuracy- I'm sure 4 days early is only something stupid like 56% on one of them and I'm guessing your testing more than 4 days before the stupid witch anticipated visit. Remain positive my friend and try not to poas for a while longer - easier said than done I know ... I got two dfns last cycle and I was crushed as I was convinced it was my month!
Jelly - have a shagtastic time over your fertile window period - fx for you buddy xx

Bubblegum - looks positive to me!

Thanks for the details Bertie - bloody apps confuse the hell out of me :))) I've just bought some more digital cb opks - hefty price tag I know but I like the fact that it's yes or no ... can't cope with the line ones :)))

Happy symptom spotting toast ... we will all be joining you soon I'm sure :))))

Xxxxx

Hippychic79 · 27/12/2016 06:58

*bfns sorry not dfns :)))

Londonexhile · 27/12/2016 08:34

Thanks hippychick, I'm much more rational this morning! Will step away from the ICs!!

Agree completely kraken!!!

JackiePaper · 27/12/2016 09:38

Bertie - yes it is emotional, very lovely the vast majority of the time though, not good for my broody-ness though!
Think I'm joining all you symptom spotters, even though I know it's waaaaaay too early, but my boobs are killing me today.
Sending lots of baby dust! Here's hoping this is a lucky thread!

Wingingit88 · 27/12/2016 10:15

So yesterday I had really bad lower back back and today I have ewcm but I'm at my parents sharing a room with the kids and we haven't managed to dtd! So frustrating! We did the 24th and 25th and will have to wait until tonight :( v annoying!

Kirsty8333 · 27/12/2016 10:45

I'm symptom spotting too. Only 4/5 dpo but sure i had tender boobs last night.

I understand how you feel Wingingit88 I missed one of the important nights dtd because dh was too tired! Fx we managed enough.

Bubblegum89 · 27/12/2016 11:17

I'm still so confused by OPK's lol so last night I got a dark line which I'm guessing is the surge. I didn't test until very late, almost midnight as I was out all day so now I don't know if my surge was yesterday or started last night! I did take a test about half an hour ago but I had a lie in and so it was FMU so the test line was faint. I've had sex once a day since Saturday, do you think maybe I'm covered? My OH works nights and is back in tonight and my DD is off school so DTD during the day is going to be difficult!

MrsC1982 · 27/12/2016 11:17

So being pushed around by AF resulted in the purchase of some conceive plus, wellman/woman conception vits a bbt thermometer and a truck lock of OPKs and Early tests Grin

Must say, impressed with amazon, didn't think next day delivery for a Boxing Day purchase would actually mean it came today! But it just arrived! Ha!

BertieBotts · 27/12/2016 11:20

Bubble your timing sounds fine.

Honestly I did some research on this and apparently timing is not typically the problem. Try not to stress about it, everyone :) Even if you get the timing right it's still only 20% that you'll conceive in any given month.

Bubblegum89 · 27/12/2016 11:26

Thanks Bertie :) hopefully you're right. And I know, I read up on it too and didn't realise how difficult it actually is. 20% chance and that's with EVERYTHING being right at the time, it's a wonder how anyone conceives at all!
