Thread 22. TTC #1 - The one where the BFPs rolled in & long may it continue

Calling all Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers, IUI-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Congrats ns! 🎊

A strange sad start to the year for me. My grandma passed away just after midnight. I had spent the last couple of days with her and so glad I had that time with her now. I'm sad we never got to share pregnancy news or a baby with her as she knew we wanted to start a family ☹️ She was a very special lady and I'll always treasure her.

Hope you all had a happier start to 2017. Let's hope the BFPs keep coming 💐

Kathrino · 01/01/2017 12:09

InspectorPenguin · 01/01/2017 13:01

Wowsers, it's been busy on here!
I just popped on to wish everyone a happy new year and then saw all the BFPs! Shock
Huge congrats to you NS, Mouse, FX and KWIIIIKKK!! Star Star Star How wonderful for you all. Wishing you all very easy and enjoyable pregnancies.

Very sorry indeed for your loss, Jam Flowers. I hope your family is doing okay x

I have pledged to take a step back from OPKs and cycle day counting this year, so next test date will be around 26th Jan but that's as far as my monitoring will go this month.

I had my appointment with the hospital consultant last week and he says there isn't anything he can see preventing us getting pregnant (he said the PCO was very pronounced, but doesn't usually affect TTC when there are no other issues).
He gave me the NICE guidelines speech about OPKs not being recommended due to the (subconscious) pressure they add, and even though I'm not convinced about that I think I'm going to shelve them and just focus on the regular sex - which we manage pretty easily anyway.

The surprising news was that we can now ask for an NHS referral the private clinic for IVF whenever we want to, and there is no waiting list. So if we decide next month we want to go down that road, we can. Seems like amazing service and although we don't intend to do it soon I have to admit it does take away a lot of the perceived time pressure; fingers crossed that does the trick for us and we conceive before we need to go down that road.

He also talked about some research currently being done which might suggest the thickness of the endometrium does not affect chances of successful implantation - interesting eh? I guess there'll be more to come on that in the next few years...

I have quite a lot of travel booked for the first three months of this year so I'm just going to relax, enjoy the trips, and hope we can get our BFP before the summer.

Congrats again to all your lucky ladies who've just got your news and best of luck to everyone in their TWW. Lots to look forward to in 2017 for all of us :)

Miranda234 · 01/01/2017 13:08

miwelaisjacydo · 01/01/2017 13:22

Sorry for your loss Jam 💐

HepKestrel · 01/01/2017 13:27

so sorry for your loss jam.

Think I am approaching end of FW. think its a been to boozy to be successful, but think we have a couple of rolls of the dice in. My pma is not great atm.

had beautiful clear positive OPK yesterday, and some new year (drunken) dtd.

will try to remember to hold my bladder and will test again this afternoon.

Binkybunny13 · 01/01/2017 14:36

London so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you- hope 2017 improves and your BFP is not too far away

Inspector that sounds like the best possible outcome! Great news about there being no waiting list- fx you don't need it after all but good to know there's options there and that there's nothing causing the difficulties.

I think many of us have been boozy recently hep- let's hope you continue the trend of thinking you're out and then getting a BFP!

I can't recall who was being really lovely about the cramps (maybe sk1pper- sorry am on plane awaiting take off so can't check back!) but thank you- AF still not shown and cramping remains low level, never had before AF...but don't want to symptom spot too much as that makes it even worse when AF arrives!

HepKestrel · 01/01/2017 15:41

hope you have a good flight binky

so todays opk was equally strong, so today must be the second day of the lh surge, so ovulation is today or possibly tomorrow?

MissyJones83 · 01/01/2017 16:01

Sorry to hear that jam

bluebird3 · 01/01/2017 16:13

So sorry to hear jam. It's really good you got to spend some quality time with her in the last few days. My grandparents aren't doing too great (dementia) and that's a big part of the reason I came home for a visit. I wanted to see them as every time I know it could easily be the last. Just reminds us we have to make every moment count. FlowersFlowersFlowers

Hippychic79 · 01/01/2017 16:26

Flowers for you and your family Jam xxx

Londonjam · 01/01/2017 16:33

Thanks for your thoughts girls 💐💐💐

MouseLove · 01/01/2017 16:42

London, so sorry to hear your sad news. I'm sure your grandma is with you in spirit. I lost my nanna just before I met my DH and I think about them meeting often, but I know in a weird way DH took up her time with me so I feel a comfort about that. I'm glad you got to spend time with her. X

miwelaisjacydo · 01/01/2017 17:27

AM fully aware that I know I sound barking mad but I have this feeling that this month I will be pregnant. I know not to tempt fate or get hopes up just got this feeling.

Ps me and DH had a lovely chat last night about TTC and how much it's hurting us both.

Hippychic79 · 01/01/2017 17:58

Trust your gut instinct miw that's what I say :))) and check this article out ....

Good luck to all those in fw xxxxx

kwick · 01/01/2017 18:21

jam I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmummy. So good that you have lovely memories of her Flowers

inspector this is encouraging news and I really hope you get your BFP very soon.
Interesting about lining - this is something my clinic looks for.

hep the booze will help!!! Sorry that your PMA is low - have some of mine:
You are a juicy fertile lucious lady
Your body is ready to conceive a healthy happy baby
You are in perfect time

binky safe travels

Kathrino · 01/01/2017 18:22

Winging, best of luck for cycle 11!

Inspector, it must be reassuring to know that there are options there if you need them. Hopefully your relaxed attitude will pay off and you won't need it at all though :)

Hep, I'm willing to bet that the majority of babies are conceived with the involvement of booze so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Sounds like a lovely juicy egg is just about to pop so you've timed DTD well!

Binky, I will join you with the low level cramps. Mine seem to be worse in the evenings for some reason.

Miw, you don't sound barking at all! And I'm so glad that you and DH have been able to talk about it too. It makes what can be such a lonely journey that it easier if you know you're in it together.

I've felt mildly hungover all day (tired, headache, feeling sick). I did have a couple of glasses of fizz last night but we were home by 9 and I was just drinking water from then until I went to bed. Sadly I fear it's nothing more than a sign of old age though...

kwick · 01/01/2017 18:26

miw follow your intuition babe Grin

We went for a lovely walk on the heath and then had lunch - and I told my family about BFP - I cried!!!
My gorgeous nephew gave me a mahoosive hug and asked me when we would know if boy or girl and the respective names. I keep in joking with him that baby will be called Great Uncle Bulgaria!

kathrino I found a Boots and now have 2 FRER and a digital one at the ready!!! Grin

MouseLove · 01/01/2017 18:59

Awwww sounds like a wonderful reaction Kwick.

I on the other hand. Have just had probably one of the worse meals ever. So much so I ate 1 carrot and a fork full of mash before having to come home in tears.

Made my parents, sister & fiancée a card telling them about our BFP. Sit down for meal, sister stays in kitchen making salad, her fiancée goes to the loo, DH is poking his food around sick to his stomach with nerves, sister puts salad on table, dad starts shouting at her, then complains his food is cold, then shouts some more, then tells my sister to get out, then mum gets upset. So I'm crying. Whip the card up, get my coat on and leave. Seriously couldn't have written a worse reveal. So I think we will wait now until we're a few more weeks. I'm gutted.

Miranda234 · 01/01/2017 19:20

Aw so sorry to hear that mouse I can imagine how upsetting that was as its one of the things you imagine for so long telling everyone so it must be hard when it doesn't go how you thought it would Flowers

MissyJones83 · 01/01/2017 19:42

Sorry to hear that mouse what a nightmare. Im sure the perfect moment will happen for you, sometimes when not planned. Enjoy your big secret for now Flowers
