Hi ladies,

I hope it's ok to post here but it seems like a good place...

I know only I can decide but I'm confused about when to come off the pill!

Getting married beginning of may, and we want to TTC straight away but will have to wait until November as our honeymoon destination has a Zika virus risk.

I've been on the pill for over 15 years and I'm so worried my cycle won't come back naturally! So do I stay on the pill until after the wedding (which I'd prefer so that I know when my period will be etc) or maximise my chance of my cycle returning to normal by coming off it now?

Would so appreciate your advice!

Shoney85 · 03/01/2017 17:48

Hi teaping I would come off it now, I was in a similar situation last year. I had been on the pill for over ten years and got married in May with our honeymoon in July but didn't want to start trying till after our honeymoon. But I knew it would take a while for it too come off my system. I stopped the pill in January had my usual period then didn't get a proper period till June. And my first cycle was around 40 days. I was very lucky to conceive on my second cycle but had I not that would have been a long cycle as well

Shoney85 · 03/01/2017 17:49

Just use an alternative contraception once off the pill

purplek1tty · 03/01/2017 17:57

Hi Lovechild,

Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate it, especially as it's taken me so long to post!

My ultrasound showed a small cyst which my GP initially classed as possible Endometriosis, despite the consultant who did my ultrasound saying everything looked completely fine. The Gynaecologist agreed my GP was wrong too.

However, both gyno and GP are convinced that this is pill related and it will just settle down given time. I'm not convinced however that this is normal. Its really frustrating. Has anyone here had any experience of private treatment with the view to being taken a bit more seriously? I've been on AC for a few months too.

Lovechild is it worth trying to get Blood tests if you're convinced you're not ovulating?

Seven0fNine · 03/01/2017 19:41

Hi purplek welcome!

I am in a similar situation to you really but I have had 2 afs in 6 months so not as bad but I really feel as you do on the ttc side of things. Haven't been to the docs about it yet because I'm hoping things will start happening as my hormones get back to normal. I'm 28 on Thursday so not feeling in a great rush to have a baby but my husband and I do really want a family.

I know some ladies here have had awful cycles and got bfps so this is Deffo the best place to be.

I've been feeling a bit shitty since just after Xmas with stomach ache, no appetite, nausea, and not wanting to drink (very odd)... So took a test today just in case although I didn't think it was pregnancy related and confirmed bfn.

Hopefully af will appear in a few days as last cycle was 41 days.

Always got in the back of my mind that I could try agnus castus...

purplek1tty · 03/01/2017 20:00

Hi Seven,

Thanks for sharing, and it's good to hear that others are experiencing something similar. (for my peace of mind anyway)
Have you been using OPKs or tracking your cycle to confirm whether you've been ovulating at all?

I have been using agnus cactus for a few months and finally got my first period after a few weeks of taking it but this could have been down to chance or other lifestyle changes.

Well done for coming off the pill and getting things sorted before you're really ready to ttc. I wish I'd been a bit more prepared!
Fingers crossed you get another After soon!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 03/01/2017 20:02

Hi guys does anyone have experience of coming off cerazette / Cerelle? I took last pill on 26 Dec and hoping to conceive by May/June..

MouseLove · 03/01/2017 20:49

Hey everyone, just thought I'd drop back in and answer a few questions.

Am I ovulating?
I actually didn't realise I'd ovulated this past cycle since I didn't get a positive OPK. Let's be honest, those sticks are pretty useless since they give little gulps of joy and disappointment. If you don't believe them then you'll be fine.

Are my cycles normal?
No, probably not. I had a 50 day cycle coming off Cerelle and then a 23 day cycle. I got my BFP on my third cycle by complete and utter shock. So anything is possible. Aim to DTD every other day from AF end to AF start.

When will I be pregnant?
Who knows. But putting unnecessary pressure on yourself is no good. Take folic acid, relax, have lots of DTD and enjoy it. Many forget it should be a fun experience. I didn't really stress past my first cycle and it worked for me. It could help you too.

This forum is a reallllly awesome place for support. Many people get obsessive and I see people get totally stressed out.

My first cycle I was guilty of this, it took 50 days for my AF to arrive and I was ECSTATIC when it arrived. Cried happy tears. I took one test on CD36 and no more.

My second cycle looked great. I got 4 positive days of OPK while I was in Rome for DHs birthday. It was an ideal conception place. But AF came very early at CD23.

My third cycle when I got my BFP was a weird one. We actually were not trying. I got a letter that I needed an MRI scan so we stopped DTD and I never got a positive OPK. We DTD 9,10,12 & 13 and I got my BFP on CD34 on the morning before my scan. I didn't have the scan in the end but I think completely taking the pressure off really helped. I was testing to make sure it was negative. First with 2 IC and then with 2 cross tests and then a CB digital.

I'm 5+1 today. X

So I suppose I'm saying anything is possible. But dig down for the long haul, be positive, relax and enjoy. Sending hugs to everyone having a shitty day, remember your time is coming soon!!

Popcorn15 · 03/01/2017 21:08

Hi Teaping

Ever since I came off the pill in August I've had terrible skin. I am glad I got married first before stopping the pill as my skin would have totallly ruined my photos. Selfish but true Shock
Still no AF for me but I've ordered seven seas trying for a baby tablets which I've heard is meant to help.

P

Seven0fNine · 03/01/2017 21:47

purplek not been opking but was going to try next cycle maybe. Just using Ovia to keep track and logging symptoms.

popcorn I tried seven seas as I heard good reviews about it helping with cycles. It did nothing to help mine but I have been meaning to order more as I liked days of the week on the packet like the pill and I seemed to remember to take it everyday. I'm taking folic acid atm when I remember but it's more like every other day!

We've been talking tonight about upgrading our car to something more family friendly. DH is starting to talk more and more about having a baby. Think he's getting broody....

purplek1tty · 04/01/2017 08:10

Hey Seven,

If you're not actively trying yet then Opking might not be necessary, but it could also put your mind at rest.

How are you feeling? Still under the weather?

Seven0fNine · 04/01/2017 08:56

I wouldn't say we weren't actively trying as we are dtd every few days but it certainly feels I'm not with these long cycles and not knowing what's going on is what I was getting at! I guess I'm just not too worried about it at the moment cos I know I'm still young!

This chat has certainly exploded again which is lovely :) any one testing soon? X

Seven0fNine · 04/01/2017 09:00

Still not 100% thanks purplek but soldiering on! Xx

purplek1tty · 04/01/2017 09:32

Apologies, I misunderstood. You're in a good place to catch ovulation if you're DTD every few days :-) And you absolutely have lots of time on your side Smile

LuciBee231015 · 04/01/2017 11:29

TheGrumpySquirrel - I was on cerazette for 6 years, and on mycrogynon before that for another 6 years. I came off cerazette on 31st July, had a withdrawal bleed about 5 days later, took 52 days after that to get my period. I took agnus castus as soon as I got my period to make the next cycle shorter. I ov'd on cd16 I think (positive opk) and then I got my bfp on cd27! There is hope! I'm now 15+5 weeks pregnant.

LuciBee231015 · 04/01/2017 11:33

Bobo, are you still around? How are you? X

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/01/2017 11:34

Thanks Luci good to know.. I have had some spotting but not a real withdrawal bleed yet - 9 days off the pill so far. Will look into agnus castus and I have the clear blue fertility monitor so am going to try and figure out when / if I'm ovulating again.

OnNaturesCourse · 05/01/2017 01:09

Guys, I've been stalking a little! Can I check is this the agnus castus you talk about? I knew it relieved symptoms but didn't know it could help AF in the hunt for regularity!

Thread 5 ttc post pill: join us for wacky cycles, far to much poas action and support from some lovely ladies!
purplek1tty · 05/01/2017 07:42

OnNaturesCourse I get mine from Amazon. You can get 100 for a similar price and are much stronger than these. Smile

Lovechild2016 · 05/01/2017 08:41

Woke up to AF this morning, it's like back to teenage days when I fist pumped the air for her showing up! I knew I wasn't preggers so really just wanted to reset, so here goes cd 1. Don't think I'm going to bother with OPK or temping. Just going to shag at least every other day and see if this works. If no luck this month then going to the GP to get the ball rolling.

Thanks for your advice mouse it's really good to hear about what worked for people.

Ok my new stats:

Age 32
Ttc#1
Cycle 4
Cd1
Cycle length:26-34 (I think maybe I'm moaning too much I realise this is actually fairly normal)

I think we will need a new thread pretty soon, as this is almost maxed out, if get time today then I'll make one.

Good luck everyone!

purplek1tty · 05/01/2017 10:50

Great News Lovechild! It's funny how we've ended up desperate for a period just to know things are working. Hopefully this is the start of some regularity for you Smile

SmittenPears · 06/01/2017 03:11

Hi everyone... I'm new. :)

Definitely feel all of these stories about crazy cycles post-pill. I was on a pretty good track the first couple of months (stopped the pill in Sept), then my most recent cycle was just over 50 days... whoa. It actually really confused my Clue app, has anyone had that happen? Now it thinks my AF and FW are overlapping...!

First month TTC. :)

CatMum87 · 06/01/2017 09:12

Hi Ladies.... just wanted to pop by and say to all the newbies experiencing long cycles that I totally feel your frustration! My first cycle of the pill was five and a half months!! Still not regular a year on but have had 90, 45 and a 28 day cycle since. Over the last 6 weeks I've been having accupucture....it's expensive but it makes me feel like I am doing something to help get my cycles on track as I feel that it's the helplessness that's the really annoying thing, having no control over what my body's doing! It also helps talking to someone who unewsstands!

Anyway positive vibes to all......Here's to regular cycles and bfp's (it just changed that one baps which made me chuckle!) X

Seven0fNine · 06/01/2017 09:36

Wow Catmum you must have been going spare. Glad things are getting better for you.
smitten I use Ovia and it just has ? Whenever my AF is more than a few days late. Then it recalculates when I put its arrived but it's still thinking I should be having 28 day cycles.

AF arrived yesterday and I am delighted to report it is much heavier than in previous months and feels much more real. FX this is the start of back to normal! (lol you watch I'll be eating my words this time next month)

Good luck for your first month smitten let's have a BFP please x
