Can't believe we've filled that thread, hope you all find this one!

Ali - so uncomfortable isn't it?! But I like that I can feel it happening, gives me a bit of warning at least. Yeah, I'm expecting I'll ov Thursday/Friday now which would work out much better than Saturday so fingers crossed.

Have you spoken to the GP yet Mel?

jinglebellmel · 13/10/2016 11:24

I should probably stop temping but like you I think I'd like a heads up if it's going wrong. Will re test with hpt this evening and see if that sheds any light.

Dr should be phoning me sometime today Ali, not sure when though.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 13/10/2016 11:33

Try to switch off and relax. I understand that you want to know what's going on in there though...

jinglebellmel · 13/10/2016 13:17

So the abnormal result was thyroid. They want to re test in 4 weeks as it can fluctuate and won't treat until then. Worried 4 weeks might be too late if that's the problem though :( gp said she didn't feel the result was enough out of the ordinary to panic over, I wish I'd thought to ask for the actual numbers so I could do some research

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 13/10/2016 13:36

Did they give you the actual result so you can see if it's borderline? How would they treat it anyway?

thatsnotmybear · 13/10/2016 16:47

Mel when I had my thyroid tested as part of fertility investigations in 2011, the result was sub-clinical hypothyroidism (so it was at the very low end of normal, but not low enough to diagnose hypothyroidism & treat with thyroxine). But I then fell pg with my DS & it was a healthy pg. Try not to worry!

Alibaba2 · 13/10/2016 16:51

Oh sorry, you said you didn't have the numbers already.

jinglebellmel · 13/10/2016 18:12

Thanks both, no I didn't think to ask for the numbers, I'd been fo using on the clotting this and hadn't really considered that it might be the thyroid.

Just did another test and the line is still there - I'm not sure it's any darker which I'd hoped it would be, but I know I need to try and relax and just wait and see what happens.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 13/10/2016 19:16

It's still very early days Mel. See how you feel in a few days. You might not feel like testing but it won't be getting darker for a few days yet...

jinglebellmel · 13/10/2016 19:46

Thanks Ali, sorry for being such a moaner. I know I should just be grateful I got a bfp. I'm a bit of a pessimist by nature incase you hadn't guessed! How are you feeling anyway?

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 13/10/2016 20:09

Don't worry, I'm a fellow pessimist. It's totally understandable given what you've been through. And I know you're very grateful for a bfp but just feeling cautious.

Your GP knows what they're doing and there might not be any point giving you the thyroid drug if your levels are fine in 4 weeks. Especially if they're borderline.

I'm feeling ok thanks. Slightly better as each day passes. I'm so over all the tablets etc though. I'm going to try to drink 2 litres/day during fertile time but can't muster the enthusiasm right now.

Have been invited to a work trip in a couple of months which falls exactly on my fertile time. It's optional so think I'll say no. I'm a very regular 25 day cycle at the mo with ov overnight from cd11-12. The trip would be leaving early on cd9, back late cd11. So I think I'll have to say no.

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 07:38

Yes I was thinking the same about the tablets, not sure I'll carry on with them all if this month doesn't work out. So annoying having to plan trips around ttc, could be the month though so hopefully be worth it :)

How are you getting on bear?

OP posts:
thatsnotmybear · 14/10/2016 08:29

Not so good. I've started spotting and I have that crampy, full feeling like AF is about to start. No point rushing to the GP today, just have to wait & see how it pans out. I'll definitely make an appointment straight after my holiday though. I can accept that once or twice is bad luck, but surely there has to be something wrong if it happens a third time?

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 08:47

Oh bear :( I can imagine all too well how you are feeling. Crampy/Af feeling is normal though at this stage I think (although that's not stopping me worrying as I have it too), and spotting can be something or nothing, so I hope it's not what you think. I can understand it's hard to think positive though and maybe easier to expect the worst anyway just incase.

I think after 3 you still have more than 50% chance of having a successful pregnancy next time, but I agree it's hard to believe it's just bad luck after 3 in a row. The only comfort I can take is that if it does happen again I'll be eligible for referal to a specialist and hopefully closer to finding the problem. Have you/will you take another test to see what's going on?

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 08:50

feeling stressed again today after lots of mc dreams last night. Planning to test again later as I feel that I need a heads up if it's going wrong, but I'm terrified of doing the test. Can't eat, and my heart is pounding.

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 14/10/2016 08:59

Bear I'm so sorry that you're going through the fear all over again :( I doubt reassurance is going to help but I would like to say that implantation spotting happens around the same time / a couple of days before AF is due. I also had cramps for what felt like weeks. Anyway I'm just hoping for the best for you, but I know it's easier on you if you expect the worst.

Mel, are you using first morning wee? Or at least holding it in for a few hours before you test? Hcg will get weaker throughout the day and I don't want that to freak you out!

thatsnotmybear · 14/10/2016 09:04

Test is still a faint but visible positive. I expect it will need to be negative before AF starts. I didn't have any spotting with the CP last month. I was more than half expecting this so not devastated, more frustrated. And I really must stop testing early! (Ha, famous last words, I can't help myself!)

Sorry you are feeling so anxious Mel & my update this morning probably hasn't helped, but try to stay calm & be kind to yourself! You have to eat! (I unfortunately have developed the opposite problem & resort to stuffing my face when stressed!)

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 09:52

I really hope it's just normal early pregnancy spotting bear. Keep us updated and I hope you manage to relax on your holiday if possible X

I just went in to Drs and asked them to print off my blood results, thyroid was 5.74 and needs to be between 1-2.5 for a healthy pregnancy. I'm so angry that they know I am pregnant and aren't prepared to do anything.

OP posts:
McBaby · 14/10/2016 10:50

Fingers crossed bear. I had bleeding and spotting between weeks 3-4 with this pregnancy which scared me so much!!

thatsnotmybear · 14/10/2016 11:59

Spotting & cramps seem to have stopped for now. Still worried that AF will arrive this weekend.

I'm sorry to hear that Mel. Is that number your T4 or TSH, or do you not know? The range seems quite narrow?

Alibaba2 · 14/10/2016 12:21

Fingers crossed for you both.

Sorry, having a manic day. Will write more later...

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 12:24

It's tsh bear. Apparently the normal range GPs use goes up to 4.20 which is why I guess they don't think it's of to much concern, but that isn't a safe range in pregnancy. I've made an emergency appointment this afternoon to see a dr to discuss it, the receptionist sounded really annoyed when I argued with her for saying it could wait until Monday. Not sure if I'm just over reacting and being a nightmare patient?? Glad your cramping and spotting have stopped for now. There really is a good chance it's nothing (but I'm sure like me you aren't really interested in the statistics now, only how it's going to pan out for you).

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 14/10/2016 13:14

Totally understandable Mel, I would do the same. You're not overreacting.

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 13:18

Thanks Ali. I hate making a nuisance of myself but I think need to know I've done everything I can here. Fingers crossed for a nice dr!
