Can't believe we've filled that thread, hope you all find this one!

Ali - so uncomfortable isn't it?! But I like that I can feel it happening, gives me a bit of warning at least. Yeah, I'm expecting I'll ov Thursday/Friday now which would work out much better than Saturday so fingers crossed.

It was only the same bloody dr as I spoke to yesterday which was awkward! I told her she wasn't following NICE guidelines and she has now started a v low dose of medication (token gesture I think as its so low) sending me for more bloods on Wednesday and referring me to an endocrinologist. Really surprised to be honest, I thought I was fighting a losing battle.

Do you have any symptoms Ali? I'd def ask your dr for the full hormone blood tests (and clotting and thyroid if they are willing) as it seems not everyone with pcos actually have cysts on their ovaries (in fact if you ovulate you probably won't have them) but the hormones can still be out enough to cause problems. It can't hurt to rule these things out - I'm really grateful to the dr who agreed it was a good idea to get the ball rolling.

Oh good Mel, glad you got a result. Sometimes you have to really push for these things.

No symptoms - I get regular periods and no weight/skin/hair issues. I must be ovulating if I get a temp rise right? And is it possible to develop PCOS at my age?

I'm seeing GP on Monday so will see what tests I can get.

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 16:59

I'm pretty sure that if you get a temp rise you are oving. I think you usually develop it in your 20's, but if your pretty symptomless is it possible you could have had it a while and not know? Why does your acu suspect it?

He saw something on my tongue today but he said he never noticed it before so it could be new.

Alibaba2 · 14/10/2016 17:10

And I've had quite a few scans over the years and it's never been mentioned.

Alibaba2 · 14/10/2016 17:13

From a quick Google... Apparently you can have the cysts but not the syndrome which makes it asymptomatic. But you would get irregular periods and no ovulation.

jinglebellmel · 14/10/2016 18:36

I thinks normally your cycles are irregular with it. However mine aren't and the GP I saw a couple of weeks ago about tests said they are now aware that not everyone with pcos has all of the symptoms or cysts on ovaries. I think you'd probably have a couple of symptoms at least though. Hopefully if your GP does the bloods you want it will become clear either way. I think if you have it you're likely to have elevated lh and testosterone show up in the tests.

Pcos seems like a very misunderstood syndrome. I was diagnosed with it in 2001 as I had very irregular periods and a scan revealed so many cysts in my ovarys that the consulatant was going to use them for teaching slides!! I was told conceiving would be difficult.

I did gi diet and had Accupucture in 2001 and my periods were more regular so 4-6 weeks and stayed like that till 2011 when I fell pregnant by accident (I wasn't that careful due to the diagnosis)!

After having 2 children in 2 years my periods came back totally regular after a 4 year absence and have been 28/29 days and the scan showed no cysts!! The consultant said it was unlikely I ever had pcos!!

Bear, hope everything is going okay with you x

Thanks Mel, I haven't had any further cramps or spotting, AF officially due tomorrow. Taking each day as it comes. Well done for pushing your GP to prescribe the thyroid meds for you.

I've just lit a candle for my two losses. Sending virtual love & hugs to you all at the end of Baby loss Awareness Week xxx

jinglebellmel · 15/10/2016 21:26

That's good bear, I'm sure the spotting would have continued if it was significant. Taking one day at a time is all we can do really.

I was feeling a bit too raw to think about the mc's today, it adds to the anxiety right now, but I've been so surprised by the amount of friends on Facebook lighting candles - people I had no idea had suffered a loss. It really needs to be talked about more.

Thanks Mel.

The GP was lovely and is going to look into what tests she can refer me for (she's new to the practice).

How are you guys?

jinglebellmel · 17/10/2016 13:25

That's great, makes such a difference to get a helpful gp. Having some tests made me feel much more positive as though I was doing some thing :) hopefully they'll be helpful for you. Which cd are you on now?

I'm okay, still full of doom and struggling with anxiety a bit, but had more blood tests for thyroid today and should hopefully get these results in a few days.

Hope you're okay bear.

That's good news Ali.

Mel I'm sorry you're feeling anxious, I'm not faring much better. I'm struggling to relax on holiday & can't think about anything other than whether everything is ok. I'm trying to accept that what will be, will be, but I know that if I have another mc I'm going to be in bits. Every time I go to the loo I'm looking out for blood, & every tiny twinge (even digesting food) has me panicking that it's cramps. I don't want to get ahead of myself & am still just trying to get through the days. Awful isn't it?!

jinglebellmel · 17/10/2016 18:59

Oh bear :( sorry to hear you're finding it tough too. I think mc is always something you worry about in pregnancy, but knowing, rather than just imaging, how it feels makes it seem so much more real and scary. Did you do any more hpts or are you just trying to put it out of your mind while away? Hope you can get some enjoyment out of your holiday X

Hi ladies..

Just wanted to offer some support. Bear I was exactly the same ( and still am ) with regards to checking for blood and panicking about EVERY twinge! I get horrible gas pains, back ache etc etc so I know how nerve wracking it is. Although I don't have a solution, I just wanted to say you're not alone! I hope you can find a way to relax on your holiday.

Again Mel, same to you, I was anxious and quiet for weeks in the beginning! OH was concerned but it's just something we have to ride out I think. The only thing that helps is time!

Glad you had a nice GP today Ali.. at least you've got the ball rolling with potential tests.

Hugs to you all!

McBaby · 17/10/2016 19:18

I still check if I'm bleeding every time I go to the toilet and bat bad trapped wind that freaks me out! You just have to find a way to cope day to day, I count down the days from scan to scan. I have relaxed a bit after a scan yeterday at 10+5 but still counting to my 12 week scan which is in 18 days!!

thatsnotmybear · 18/10/2016 09:48

Thank you so much ladies, it helps to know I'm not alone in feeling anxious. I don't really want to bother my DH with how worried I am because he likes to fix things & there's nothing he can do, plus he's just as worried about finding a new job so I don't want to stress him out about this as well (obviously he knows I'm pg but we're not really talking about it, both too scared to make plans I think!)

I hope everyone else is doing ok.

jinglebellmel · 18/10/2016 10:26

Thanks bee and mcbaby. Dh says it's all about the little victories but he's a much more positive person than me! I'm just trying to keep my mind on other things.

How many weeks are you now blossom? Glad it's all going well :) I think the home Doppler thing is fine, only a concern if you use it instead of getting checked out for reduced movement (which I'm sure you wouldnt). Good that you've helped find something to put your mind at rest.

I will definitely have an early scan if I get that far. First mc was just an empty sac when I had the scan at 10 weeks, baby possibly never developed at all. I'd want to know as soon as possible if that were the case again. Somewhere near me does a package where you get a scan a week from 7-13 but it's pretty expensive and I'm not sure if indulging my anxiety so much is a good idea. Will see how I feel if we get to that point I guess, don't really want to plan ahead too much.
