Can't believe we've filled that thread, hope you all find this one!

Ali - so uncomfortable isn't it?! But I like that I can feel it happening, gives me a bit of warning at least. Yeah, I'm expecting I'll ov Thursday/Friday now which would work out much better than Saturday so fingers crossed.

I'm doing alright thanks Blossom. I hope this week of waiting for your scan goes quickly for you...

CD11 today so we'd normally DTD tonight but I had my smear test this afternoon & am feeling a little sore. It all went fine & the nurse said my cervix looks normal, but when I asked if I could have intercourse tonight or should wait, I think she felt a bit sorry for me! She said it was fine if I felt up to it, but it might not be a bad idea to give myself a month off, as I'm still clearly distressed about the mc's. It made me realise how much pressure I'm putting on myself.

thatsnotmybear · 27/09/2016 18:46

Mel - what blood tests are you having?

jinglebellmel · 27/09/2016 19:17

do you think you'll take this month off bear? I was thinking it might be a good idea but don't think I can bring myself to do it (unless I get this sickness bug, then I might not have a choice!). I'm not entirely sure on the blood tests! Dr said hormone levels and clotting disorders, I didn't really take it all in at the time but will ask when they do them on Thursday.

thatsnotmybear · 27/09/2016 19:36

Definitely taking tonight off Mel, can't quite bring myself to DTD hours after my cervix has been poked with a stick! Will see how I feel tomorrow and whether I get a positive opk - it might be too much of a green light for me to resist!

Would be interested to know about your blood tests when you go to the GP. My thyroid came back normal (and nicely normal too - right in the mid-range, so that's a relief). I didn't request any other tests though. I wonder if it's possible to develop a clotting disorder over time then?

Thebean123 · 27/09/2016 20:23

Hi ladies :) had my uncles funeral today.....all went well considering. He was buried with my grandad and that was very upsetting to see the grave open again but it's all over now, and I'm hoping that now for the rest of the month (and the foreseeable future!) the stress is over and I can finally relax a bit. I ended up hosting an impromptu after funeral gathering at my new house with cousins and aunties and had the inevitable questions about babies etc......nobody apart from my immediate family know I suffered a MC. But all in all it was a positive day and nice to catch up with everyone. Onwards and upwards....:)

Good luck with your scan Blossom....am sending you positive vibes and wishes!

Coming up to fertile week here and am feeling excited and positive but also a little bit like ...."oh here we go again". Bad isn't it? I just hate the fact that me and DP are having sex for a purpose. Just doesn't feel right sometimes.

Glad your smear wasn't too traumatic today bear....give yourself some time. If you want to continue trying that's great....if you feel like you need a month off then that's great too. The most important thing I feel is to be pregnant and a mother when you're happy and ready. I feel like it's a slippery slope with us ttc ladies into becoming consumed and making ourselves unhappy.

Sorry have just read this back and realise I'm being a bit of a negative nelly.....I don't mean to be! I'm sure I will be back to my sarcastic, piss taking self very soon ;)

Thebean123 · 27/09/2016 20:24

Oh sorry I meant to say keep us up to date with your blood results and tests Mel.....would be interested to see what they are testing for :) x

Alibaba2 · 27/09/2016 20:29

Thanks for the tips. It feels like an age since the last TWW.

Have my hot water bottle tonight and really need to get off my arse tomorrow and do some exercise.

Intrigued about the heated car seat Blossom! Good luck for next week, keep us posted. Is that first or second scan?

Bear, totally understand re the smear. Sometimes I even bleed a little afterwards. When do you expect to get your pos opk?

Oh yes, I remember now it's your second. Not long to go until these next 2 scans.

I've been very sedentary this week so definitely need to get the blood pumping.

jinglebellmel · 28/09/2016 08:46

Hope you're okay after the funeral bean, well done for keeping your cool with people asking awkward questions.

I can imagine blossom, but this time you will come away with some good memories I'm sure :)

Bear, you can develop the clotting issues over time - some are inherited but others are in response to anti bodies. I will ask exactly what they are testing for let you know tomorrow. I'm almost hoping they find something, I'd love to be able to just take a pill a day and reduce the risk of it happening again. They'll also be testing hormones for pos as that can increase mc rate up to 50%, don't think there's a quick fix for that one though unfortunately :/

Good luck with mission implantation Ali, really hoping it happens for you this month. Vit c and e are also supposed to be good for increasing womb lining and helping implantation.

Sorry, I missed your post Bean.

Glad the funeral went well and well done for dealing with the questions. That's the only one good thing about ttc at 40, everyone assumes you're done.

Good luck for FW. What cd are you on?

Bee1234 · 28/09/2016 16:36

Hi all..

Bean I'm sorry about today, sounds like a tough day overall.. well done on getting through! Good luck for FW!

Mel it was me who is taking the baby aspirin, just as a precaution not because of any diagnosis, however that's what they will prescribe for the clotting disorder you're talking about! Good luck with them, I bet all is fine!

So in reference when to stop taking it Ali, I can't help as I'm still on it! Best of luck though! The 2ww wait must be over for u soon?

Bear I'm not surprised you don't feel up to it! Perhaps this month you could dtd as and when you feel like it and just see how it goes? Almost like taking the month off.

Blossom I know exactly how you feel, my first scan at 8 weeks was a big milestone for me ( my loss was at 7 and half ) and I was literally shaking throughout the whole thing! But look how mine has turned out :) all positive! And I also freak at every ache and pain ( including recurring backache ) but I just have to try and remain positive! I have my next scan booked for Tuesday.

jinglebellmel · 28/09/2016 18:02

Thanks Bee, hope everything is going well with you :) are you just taking on of the low dose aspirins a day?

Dh now has sickness bug, hoping he gets over it quickly as I'm expecting a positive opk Thursday or Friday!

Bee1234 · 28/09/2016 18:21

I'm actually on 2 a day! One in the morning one before bed. My ob/gyn said 1 or 2 a day is fine.

Ironically same thing happened to mine on the month we conceived! Just before I got my pos opk he fell ill! Some how we still managed it though so fingers crossed for you. Glad you're doing ok and going for it again 😊

jinglebellmel · 28/09/2016 19:33

Thanks bee, I've warned him that he needs to make a recovery by tomorrow!

Alibaba2 · 28/09/2016 20:05

What day are you on Mel? Let's hope the tummy bug is a good omen for you!

Managed to walk 10,000 steps today so treating myself to a slice of banoffee and just sitting down to watch GBBO. And relax!

Bee, you're doing really well! Nearly through the first trimester!

I'm only on 3dpo. Thanks for the vit e tip Mel. I might try that next month. I take extra vit c already.

Did you say they may test for PCOS Mel? A few friends have it, I think the symptoms are quite clear including irregular periods, which I presume you don't have?

jinglebellmel · 28/09/2016 21:01

Hi Ali, cd 10 today. Yes, they are testing for pcos. I had some blood tests for other issues a few years ago and the hormone levels were all wonky, apparently suggestive of pcos, but my periods are regular, no cysts on my ovaries and I ovulate so they didn't do anything about it. GP I saw the other day seemed to think it was worth checking hormones again as pcos does increase mc rate - not sure if it's even possible for it to be that without the normal symptoms though.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 28/09/2016 21:09

Fingers crossed its not that. I doubt it. And even if it is, it's not insurmountable. One friend with it got pg twice easily. And the other got pg twice fairly easily although had one MC.

And you've been pg twice in the last 6 months which is a good sign.

It's always good to rule these things out though I guess.

jinglebellmel · 29/09/2016 11:40

Bear, I asked the nurse about what they were testing for in the bloods, she said pretty much everything. A full range of hormones (although I'm not sure how useful these will be as I'm sure they are supposed to be tested early in your cycle and I'm on cd 11) thyroid, clotting factors, liver and kidney function. I've looked online at a private recurrent miscarriage clinic near me and I think the tests the GP can order don't really scratch the surface of possible causes, but at least it's a start (hopefully unnecessary and we will be 3rd time lucky).

OP posts:
thatsnotmybear · 29/09/2016 11:51

That's interesting Mel, thanks. I have heard of a mid-cycle test for hormones; the tests on CD2/3 & CD21 are specifically to determine egg supply (FSH level) & ovulation (progesterone level). I think they would do these tests if there were concerns about your fertility i.e. ability to conceive, and as you say that's not a problem for you. It's good that they're being so thorough. When can you expect the results?

I'm still hopeful that it'll be 3rd time lucky for both of us too.

Alibaba2 · 29/09/2016 14:46

Great for anyone to get a fertility MOT. I'd like one!

jinglebellmel · 29/09/2016 15:59

Should get the results in a week, will be nice to rule somethings out if nothing else. But yes, trying get to stay positive that there will be no more problems 3rd time around.
