Hi All,

I tested and it's a BFP! :) V happy but also anxious and scared!

Welcome Rainbow - sorry you're here, we all understand how you feel, I can't believe I had the willpower to test late this time - but know how horrible it is to see a negative.

Fingers crossed for your MrsY.

littlepooch · 19/10/2016 18:50

jbee congratulations! That is wonderful news! :)

Hello rainbow I could have written the same post a few months ago except my DD was 6 months when we found out I was pg and then a scan at 10 weeks showed no hb. She is now nearly a year and not a whiff of a bfp. It took us a long time to conceive DD with 2 MCs before I fell with her so we were overjoyed to be pg so quickly and to have the small age gap we dreamt of. So I understand. Fx AF stays away and it was just too early to be testing.

MrsY87 · 19/10/2016 19:03

Congratulations jbee great news!

Hi Rainbow sorry you are here too. It's so hard seeing a negative test when you so desperately want to be pregnant, fingers crossed it was just too early. I understand your feelings about the age gap getting bigger, we waited due to my work mat leave expecting it to happen straight away like DD so we'd end up with just over a 2year gap and now it will be more like 3 (hopefully) as stupid as it sounds I think it's hard to change the make up of the family you had planned in your head.

Alb1 · 20/10/2016 11:40

Congratulations jbee and amy Smile

I have tried posting a few times this last few days and it's either failed or my son and distracted me before I could finish so I'm not going to bother writing a long message this time incase it vanishes again!

Hope everyone else is ok, and good luck to those testing soon Smile

Brenna24 · 20/10/2016 12:59

Hi Rainbow. I am so sorry for your losses. It is really hard - I am hanging on in a job I hate for teh maternity leave and eaach loss makes it even longer I keep having to do this. We don't have any children yet but we want two and I am finding the thought that I could go through multiple miscarriages, to get one, to then have to do it all again really hard. The negative tests are so hard. I hold off testing until AF is very, very late now.

Congratulations jbee. That is so exciting. Everything crossed for you that it is a sticky one.

BertieBotts · 21/10/2016 00:49

Sorry I forgot to update - AF turned up so I think it was stress which had delayed it. Onto cycle 8 and hopefully by the time I'm fertile I'll be able to drive and feeling less anxious about finances!

MrsY87 · 22/10/2016 07:54

Sorry AF turned up Bertie, fingers crossed for next cycle for you!

Jaffacakes1234 · 22/10/2016 09:49

Hello! Just having a read, nice to see some positive stories!
I miscarried 5 weeks ago at 11+2, original advice was I was fine to ttc as long as I had negative tests, I have had negative tests since 5 days after the mc but scans show a very small amount of product left (2cm).
They were going to give me a d&c but then they decided as I had got to 3 weeks past mc they would just wait to see if it came out with my next period, well actually the nurse said she had never heard of it not coming out with a period, when I questioned how I'd know she said I needed to get my gp to refer me for a scan after my next period and not to ttc until after that, which conflicted to what she said before....... my question is does anyone know anything about this and if it's safe to ttc after next period? If the small amount of product is there and I got pregnant what would be likely to happen? They discharged me from the outpatients and feeling very alone. Any advice?

Brenna24 · 23/10/2016 10:59

That is a shame Bertie. Better luck next month.

Hi and welcome Jaffa. I don't know the answer. I didn't get any scans after any of my miscarriages. I just went by negative tests. I think that certainly in most cases anything left comes out in the next period but I know some people have problems with retained products even after that. Could you go back after your next period and get another scan?

Jaffacakes1234 · 23/10/2016 20:16

Hello brenna! Yes they said they would scan me after I get my period, but have to get referred by my gp which one nurse said would take 2-3 weeks and one said 6-8 weeks Confused just for the referral to go though.
I kind of thought I'd have my period by now (5weeks since mc) I'm so stressed out which probably isn't helping but it's a chicken and egg thing, I just want to get on and ttc, hating this state of limbo!!

Brenna24 · 23/10/2016 21:14

That is ridiculous! several weeks for an answer. That sucks. I wouldn't stress about not having your period yet. Mine was a bit late the month after my first miscarriage. My normal cycle is 29 - 30 days and I was 35 days, Given the miscarriage took 5 days, then I had a negative test but didn't stop bleeding for over 2 weeks after that, that meant that my cycle only started after the 5 days of the miscarriage. And that is fast. A lot of people find it takes a bit longer than that. I know it is hard but try and not let it get you stressed or down.

jbee664 · 23/10/2016 21:27

Hi Jaffa, sorry for your loss, I understand your frustration with not knowing! Can you get a scan done via EPU so you're not waiting so long? My AF after MC was about 6 weeks I think....and then returned to normal.

Jaffacakes1234 · 23/10/2016 22:08

Thanks for your replies, it seems forever, I'm debating just ttc after I get my period, if it turns up..... then I think it's probably a bad idea. It's good hearing that periods don't always turn up when they should, I got worried too much googling about it and convinced myself I'm not ovulating due to the retained material (hate that term!). I was 11+2 wondering if it takes longer to get your period the longer you were pregnant for?
Hoping for bfps for all of us in the near future Smile

Jaffacakes1234 · 23/10/2016 22:09

jbee was contemplating just calling the epu and forgetting the part about needing a referral..... I am a bit of a mess and easily cry..... might get me scanned quicker as the thought of that wait is breaking me.

Brenna24 · 24/10/2016 00:17

It has to be worth asking. I was 11+3 for my first one, almost exactly the same as you.

XxxJadexxX · 24/10/2016 00:20

Hi All,

This is my first post on here, so apologies if I am in the wrong place. I was wondering if anyone has been in the same position as me.

My husband and I decided to try for our first little one and to our amazement caught in the first month. Unfortunately, at 12 weeks, I went through quite a difficult miscarriage (lost a serious amount of blood) which ended in an emergency D&C.

My periods were always around 30-35 days, but since, they have pushed out to around 40+ days. We'd like to try again and have been unsuccessful the last couple of months and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Any help would be gratefully received.....

Thanks in advance,

Jade

Thingymaboob · 24/10/2016 00:26

I'm sorry for your loss.
Those cycles are pretty long. I am wondering what my cycle will do after my mc. Might be worth speaking to your GP.

Thingymaboob · 24/10/2016 00:30

Hi jaffacakes- were you seen at an epu? My EPU said that if I don't have a negative pregnancy test or my period doesn't turn up / any problems I can go back straight away! If you make an appointment with your GP they can normally get you scanned quickly. Have you got any pain / fever / funky discharge suggestive of infection (associated with retained products).

Brenna24 · 24/10/2016 08:29

Hi Jade. I am sorry for you loss. It is perfectly normal for your cycles to be different after a miscarriage, especially if it was physically traumatic and your body needs time to recover. It is also quite normal to take 6 months to a year to conceive, even if you are young and healthy, so two months isn't necessarily a problem. Do you know if you are ovulating or not?

littlepooch · 24/10/2016 12:14

Welcome jaffa and jade. I am sorry for your losses.

I got positive tests for weeks and weeks after my ERPC. My gynaecologist wasn't worried and said my first period should sort it out and it did. Everyone is different though so if you're not sure definitely contact your EPU or even your GP.

My periods have been all over the place since my ERPC in June. I've had super short cycles (25 days) and last month my body tricked me and I had a 34 day cycle. Pre my most recent MC I was always a bang on 30 day cycle girl.

I'm a bit worried as the last few months I've been getting pretty bad period pain and cramping as early as 5/6 dpo. I can't help but think this can't be a good thing but don't know what to do about it. I'm 9dpo today and bored! I know AF is on her way so just want her to hurry up so I can get on with next month!

jbee664 · 24/10/2016 12:30

Hiya,
It's not for everybody but I started acupuncture after my second mc to regulate my cycle and get things back on track (the first 'AF' after my first mc lasted about 10 weeks!) and I really think it helped. It helps ovulation too and I'm convinced it help me conceive too :)

TheLegendOfBeans · 24/10/2016 12:34

pooch - totally hear you on AF impatience!

So, I miscarried on 8 August, and my first period after came on 12 September and the latest one started 14 October so I'm sitting at a 34 days average, much as I was before. Now getting impatient for AF #3 as I'm keen to get cracking again but promised, promised myself I'd wait until I'd had three periods, just to give my uterus a break.

Miscarriages - they really bake your head and turn you into a period watching obsessive nutcase don't they or is it just me

XxxJadexxX · 24/10/2016 13:09

Hi All,

Thank you for your messages and I'm sorry for your losses.

Think maybe seeing the GP isn't a bad idea as have also been experiencing more pain like you littlepooch.

Thank you all for your help....

SayItIsntSo1 · 24/10/2016 13:30

Hello to the newcomers and sorry you're here.

I'm well in to the tww. Due Saturday and after a CP last cycle not feeling like it will be a positive result. I keep trying to tell myself it won't happen this cycle, whilst also desperately hoping it will!

No real symptoms, bit of back ache and cramping. No sore boobs, no implantation spotting... hoping I can hold out until later in the week to test- even bought my first (2) FRER as everyone on MN seems to suggest them! Grin

Jbee how did you find an acupuncturist? Did you find them online? I don't know of any near me but will be willing to try anything if this month isn't successful!

jbee664 · 24/10/2016 13:50

Yes, I just googled fertility acupuncture in my area - they usually have reviews against them too. Mine acts as a bit of a counsellor too, I talked through my history and felt like she really listened and understood and had advice to offer. It really helped me as I felt like I was doing something and taking positive action.

I'm also going to carry on seeing her until 12 weeks.
