Wow Karen they're amazing swimmers!! That should make you feel positive.

Sorry that you're uncomfortable. I've been really lucky. I haven't found any of my IUIs uncomfortable either at the time or afterwards (despite usually having dreadful speculum issues!).

Anyway, I hope you're feeling a bit better now and that you're managing to have a relaxing evening. I suggest chocolate and a nice film.

Welcome Pineapple Smile

Goodness this thread is getting busy. Is there something in the water!?

Caution I haven't heard from Taydex. I assume she's fine and is just not flaunting her pregnantness in our direction. I think she was a bit overly aware about being insensitive as we continue to TTC. Not justified because of course we'd love to hear from her!

Karendvm · 29/07/2016 20:29

Didn't taydex come to Canada for a long holiday? I thought she'd be back home by now but I'm not sure.

Welcome pineapple! It's great that you have all the tests out of the way. I understand about being a bit nervous. It didn't really sink in until I was on the table and my first iui done. Then I realized I was actually maybe going to have a baby! I'm much calmer now, and feel way less stressed than during my first TWOT. Good luck with everything!

StorkAhoy · 29/07/2016 23:19

Holy cow everyone, talk about busy bees!

caution glad you had a good consult with the donor team! I've been a bit absent due to supporting a friend through her IVF round. It was really interesting and taught me a lot, including that for my first go around I don't want it to be in Wales, that plus having an issue wth having someone stay with me in Wales it was all getting a tad much....

So I too was in contact with Care again today and booked in for my treatment consultation in mid September, gosh they are busy!

The money is going to nearly break me, so I may push it from November to December, but I think it's the right thing for me on this first try.

Welcome to latenight and pineapple nice to have you both here!

And yes, clearly something I the water, we've gone for a lull to everyone gearing up! Oooh, the anticipation....

StorkAhoy · 29/07/2016 23:19

*in, something in the water!

kwick · 30/07/2016 12:36

karen sorry IUI was uncomfortable. Have you got your fresh pineapple at the ready?
Magic potion sounds it was ace quality Grin

Welcome pineapple!!

kwick yes to the pineapple! Sitting on my counter, waiting for me to slice and dice. I'm way better today. No pain at all. I've been having massive ovary pain this cycle, and that's gone too. Very happy today! First thought this morning was that I could be making a baby.....lovely first thought.

kwick I hope you are having a lovely holiday.

stork happy that you have your consult booked!

Latenightreader · 30/07/2016 14:11

I've seen references to cayan pepper, pineapple, red wine and aspirin further up this thread. I am feeling woefully ignorant and unprepared - can anyone either enlighten me or point me in the direction of something good to read about them? I start ovulation testing for take two tomorrow and really want to give this the best possible chance...

CautionHormone · 30/07/2016 14:25

Karen that's amazing. Good amount of swimmers in there!

Pineapple welcome. Sorry to hear about your mc three years ago; that can't of been easy. Good luck on your journey though and be sure to keep us updated!

Shoes maybe you're right. Bless her, she shouldn't feel like that! It would be great to hear from her - she must be about seven months now, surely?

Stork, completely understandable. I felt the same. It's about a three hour drive from where I live, and although I had the added bonus of being able to stay with my best friend and her fiancé, I just felt like it would add a lot of stress to an already stressful thing.
Wow, they do sound busy! Was mid September the earliest they could fit you in? I may have to buck my ideas up and get my treatment consult booked too if that's the case, although now I'm thinking of starting in the new year.

Hope everyone's having a happy Saturday!

Karendvm · 30/07/2016 15:04

latenight I'm eating pineapple now (with the core) as it is thought to aid in implantation. Something about the bromelain that is found in pineapple. Not sure about the red wine, other than its my weakness but I've sworn off it for now. I asked my re yesterday about aspirin and he said I could take it to ease my mind if I wanted to but that he saw no medical reason to. I might start it anyway. He said it wouldn't hurt. Some people say it can stop clots during pregnancy, which can cause miscarriage. Other than that, I've been taking dhea to improve egg quality, coenzyme q10 for the same, and prenatals. Make sure you do your opks a couple times a day. Not sure what everyone else thinks but I did mine around noon and then around 6pm. My biggest thing was taking time every day to focus on breathing and being positive.

INeedNewShoes · 30/07/2016 23:52

Karen did you RE say when to start the aspirin? Straight away or once you get a BFP?

Latenight I read that red wine (in moderation) can aid implantation as it improves the lining. I've been drinking a small glass of good quality red wine most evenings since my IUI, with food and followed by a glass of water to offset any dehydrating effects. Who knows whether it's doing more good than bad? But my take on it is that people who are TTC naturally are often drinking normally whilst TTC until they get a BFP so one small glass of red isn't going to hurt...

I think with all of these things, especially aspirin, higher doses of folic acid etc. that you might read about on this thread (and other threads on this/other forums) you need to do your own research into them and decide which ones seem right for you. For example, aspirin could be risky to take for a number of reasons depending on your medical history, so shouldn't really be done without the approval of your doctor. All of us on here have our own take on alcohol, caffeine, diet, supplements etc. Unfortunately it can seem like a minefield because there's no proven correct way of doing things!

Karendvm · 31/07/2016 12:10

Absolutely agree with you shoes. There's so much "advice" out there, it's hard to know what to do. My re said I could start the aspirin now. Haven't gone to get any yet. And I do think one glass of wine won't hurt. I had a couple during my last tww and got my bfp. Just more paranoid now I guess. Even had a tiny dog jump into my lap yesterday and it had me straight on Google wondering if that could hurt me. Lol. Paranoid.

pickle162 · 31/07/2016 12:12

Hi pineapple and latenight welcome Smile I'm doing this solo too-currently in the saving up stage at the mo, but in 9months I should be starting and have chose the clinic im going so it's literally just money holding me back at the mo.
hope everyone is ok this sunny Sunday?I've gone to whitstable with my auntie! Gorgeous! Got some baby stuff in the charity shops-2 bits for a present and 2 bits for me. I'll put pics on later-could resist (naughty me!!!)

INeedNewShoes · 31/07/2016 13:00

So, what's the team's view on testing towards the end of the TWW?

Is it insane to test more than once a day? Last time, I got my first visible undoubtable second line in the evening, so I'm not convinced that FMU is best for me.

I know, I'm daft! I should wait until my OTD and then I would just get a definite yes or no, but quite frankly I don't have the self discipline for that!

Karendvm · 31/07/2016 16:00

Lol I did my first test on day 8 last time. Then got my bfp on day 11.

INeedNewShoes · 31/07/2016 16:14

I am so impatient to know. I'm finding myself quite annoying today if I'm honest. I suppose that's an issue with going it alone - we don't have a DP to tell us to get an effing grip when they see that we're squinting at that test strip for the fourth time willing a line to appear!

pickle162 · 31/07/2016 16:50

Awe bless you shoes, it must be like torture keep venting to us, we will be your substitute dp Flowers
Here are some of the goodies I got today...as I say some are presents

Ooh that's a nice shop you've done Pickle

I've been very well behaved on this front and I haven't bought any baby things yet. I'm hopeful that mine will survive in hand-me-downs because about six different friends have offered to pass clothes on to me!

Thanks for the moral support on the testing front. It's nice to know that I can witter on about things within the safety of this thread Wink

Lovelyholiday · 31/07/2016 20:30

Hi everyone!!
shoes test away! I'm sure i will...I have zero will power though, I'm the girl that would open presents before I should Wink

karen how are you feeling? Resting up I hope!

Second injection done, so far so good, even had some twinges in the ovaries today (hope that's normal)
First scan next Friday, then Monday 8th with possible collection on the Wednesday 😊

kwick · 31/07/2016 20:46

Wow you guys have been busy Grin

Agree to finding your own path. I was told by my FC's nutritionalist that cayenne pepper takes blood to the womble area so I dose myself up after IUI/IVF. Also last few tries I have drunk copious amounts of milk on run up to ovulation for egg quality.

My consultant told me take baby aspirin daily during 2ww.

shoes re: testing early - all I will say is do not start too early if you had a trigger shot as it remains in system for quite some days. I started testing 4 days before official test date (which for me is 16 days after) to gear myself up for a bfn. I cannot describe the joy that I felt when I got a bfp. I cannot describe the pain I felt when I MC. Frickin rollercoaster.

Lovely shopping pickle

lovely how are the shots going?

OP posts:
CautionHormone · 31/07/2016 20:58

Shoes in regards to testing, I would start earlier, I know I would! I agree with Kwick though; don't start too early in case it upsets you or in case you've had a trigger shot. Did you say your OTD is Friday coming? Maybe start on the Wednesday or something... It's not too early then!! I've got everything crossed for you... I'm excited to find out how it's going!

Pickle they're lovely! You bought some good bits there. Who are the presents for?

Kwick how's your holiday going??

I've not got a positive on my OPKs yet :( it was cd15 last month that I got a positive and it's cd15 today and not had one. Not even close. Ah my body is so confusing. Bought myself a new iPad today, cos why not!

INeedNewShoes · 31/07/2016 21:34

Caution my OPK pattern is always faintish lines then a couple of days of barely visible lines then 24 hours build up to positive. Maybe you're in the lull at the moment and it'll be day 17 for you?

No trigger here (still unmedicated IUI). Too late to tell me not to test too early Grin it hasn't paid off though - nothing yet apart from a grey line (an evap line) on an FRER and nothing visible on the Internet cheapies unless I squint - then I can see a line where I know the line would be but isn't actually there.

See, I've finally lost it! This way madness lies and I'm there...

Lovelyholiday · 31/07/2016 21:43

kwick shots are going well, not as bad as anticipated at all!

shoes you gave into temptation Grin I'm looking forward to your updates on testing, and feeling positive for you!

caution what a great feeling good purchase! Do you use any supplements to help regulate your cycle? I heard Angus cactus aka vitex is great for this.

pickle162 · 31/07/2016 21:49

caution someone at work had a little girl while I was on holiday in June but going to visit on Wednesday and thought I should take something (even if I did only spend £2 on them)

INeedNewShoes · 01/08/2016 08:57

11dpo and still no second pink line. I got another shadowy grey line today - wondering if I got a duff box of FRER as I've never had evaporation lines before. Last time I got a very faint, but definitely there, positive on 11dpo. If there's still nothing tomorrow it looks like I might be out for this month but I've not given up yet!

Hope everyone's ok today. It might be Monday but at least the sun is (kind of) shining Smile

Karen are you feeling more positive about things now?

Karendvm · 01/08/2016 12:30

shoes I think it's way too early for you to be out. All depends on when you implanted. My fingers are crossed for you!

I am feeling more positive, but I hate this two week wait. Has anyone done progesterone supplements? I woke up boiling hot last night and have been having weird dreams. And my dogs have been acting ridiculous. One has started peeing in the house which has never happened. And they all just want to smell my belly and lick me.
