That's excellent news Karen Smile So pleased you can go for IUI this cycle! Glad we're all getting up and running again after our MCs.

Kwick If you ever fancy meeting for coffee/cake when you're in GPS for an appointment, let me know! Have a lovely holiday Smile €45 for aircon is definitely worth it even if it's a bit of a con! (sorry couldn't resist the pun).

Lovelyholiday · 27/07/2016 19:53

Hi! So I got my meds😁 I'm just on the stimulating meds for 10-12 days then it's all go!
They have given me Merional, cetrotide then gonsai
Hopefully I'll get my injections done properly!
kwick not fully yoga teacher, just baby and pregnancy (the best ones in my opinion 😂) teach baby massage too (yeah my job is pretty cool)
Enjoy corfu, the sun and the sea is so relaxing, grab a massage and look after yourself.

shoes I'll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts for you.

The first time in my life I'm looking forward to my period Grin Blush

Lovelyholiday · 27/07/2016 19:55

Sorry karen
Yey excellent news will be thinking of you on Friday Flowers

CautionHormone · 27/07/2016 20:18

Shoes, I'm glad you're starting to feel more positive. This is such a positive time, but don't forget it is scary and daunting so don't beat yourself up too much for having down days. What date can you test..?!!

Karen, that's great news! So glad you can go ahead with IUI this month, that's wonderful to hear. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan and you get your BFP!

Lovely, good news re your medication also. Exciting, huh?! I can't wait til it's my turn!

My appointment went amazingly! I was in there an hour and I loved the lady I had the consult with; she was lovely and made me feel so at ease. We went through IUI and IVF, and because I've been pregnant before (had a mc in October '14) and fell quite easily, she said IUI would probably be best to try first but it's only a 15-20% success rate. She said IVF would be a lot higher (in the region of 40-60% success rate) but it's just the price... I've saved enough for IUI whereas IVF would take a lot more saving. Im going to start off with IUI anyhow, I'm young, I'm (supposedly) fertile, so there's no reason not to.
My bipolar didn't seem to throw a spanner in the works either. She just said I'd need to speak to the doctor about my medications about what's safe and what's not, but to start on folic acid straight away and ring her when I want to have my consult with the doctor. It's all very positive and very exciting...!!
Sorry about the lengthiness of this msg; I'm enthusing here because nobody else seems bothered 😂

Lovelyholiday · 27/07/2016 20:24

caution it is exciting enthuse away!! Those first steps are incredible. Your turn will come soon enough, did they give you a scan? Or was it just a chat?

I think we all deserve a treat after today Grin

Karendvm · 27/07/2016 20:47

lovely that's wonderful! I am not familiar with the meds but I'm sure you'll do fine. How exciting!

caution I'm so glad you had a good appointment. It's nice to get good vibes.

My dr is so dry. I love him, but sometimes I miss his jokes. Today we were talking about my shot I have to give myself tonight. He told me to not do it in the nape of my neck, that the abdomen in preferred. I just nodded along but must have looked confused. He was trying to do some vet humour cause in my field we do so many injections in the scruff. Whoops! Went over my head. Lol

pickle162 · 27/07/2016 22:25

Eek everything sounds so exciting and positive for everyone at the mo.have a lovely holiday kwick very jealous!
Caution glad everything went ok...was that appointment expensive- if u don't mind me asking. When can u have the appt with dr? Did u have any scans or just a chat?

INeedNewShoes · 27/07/2016 23:40

So pleased that everyone has had good appointments today Smile

I've just stocked up on FRERs (got 4 for £13 including postage!) because I know Kwick will not tolerate lesser tests being used on this thread Wink
and I know that I will be doing some early testing against all advice to the contrary. My OTD (official test date) is a week on Friday. We'll see how long I last...

pickle162 · 28/07/2016 05:56

Nearly over your first week. Hope it goes nice and quick for you so u can test

kwick · 28/07/2016 10:30

karen 24mm is amazeballs - well done!

lovely I found the injections quite daunting but then after a day or two was like a pro Grin although after weeks if injections I had to talk myself into it each time.
You have the best job!

caution sounds like a great appointmenf Smile I think you said you were worried about your BMI? If over 35 then some recommend taling 5mg of folic acid daily - which needs to be prescribed.

shoes so glad you are stocked up on FRERs!!! You are a good girl Wink

Right off for lunch!

Lovely it was just a chat with the donor coordinator. I have to book an appointment with the dr who will do a 'detailed pre treatment scan' which will look at my ovaries and uterus etc.

Pickle, it was just a chat. It was a free of charge appointment! I'm not sure whether it'll be the same in your Care clinic but at mine the donor coordinator appointment is free of charge, and so is the counselling session that is mandatory. It's just the doctors appointment you pay for which will be £185, then the scan on top which is £110. Then I'll have to have the HyCoSy before I can go any further :)

Kwick, yes i was worried about my BMI and they said that regardless of what treatment I have done it'll need to be under 35... Even IUI. So I'm working hard on getting it lower than that at the moment. It's only about a stone I need to lose but it still delays things. When I spoke to the donor coordinator about folic acid she said the 400 micrograms or something; just the usual ones you can buy at boots or whatever? How's your holiday going?

Shoes ooh you're nearly through your first week! Keep going, it must be so hard being in the TWOT and not knowing!

Karendvm · 28/07/2016 22:58

shoes I can now very much appreciate your state of mind prior to your iui. I'm excited about tomorrow, but also very worried about the possibilities. I know I need to focus on the positive, having a baby, but everything inbetween worries me. What if it doesn't work? What if it does? Please don't let me miscarry again. I'm going to go and meditate and try and relax and picture the outcome I want. Hope everyone is doing well. X

INeedNewShoes · 28/07/2016 23:15

Karen If it's any comfort, I really am feeling a lot more positive now than this time last week so hopefully you'll gradually feel better about things too.

Sending positive thoughts in your direction. Highly recommend listening to some chilled out music during the post-IUI half hour rest. On all three occasions I've left the clinic feeling really relaxed. Also I'm not very good at lying about doing nothing so the music helps me stay put for the full half hour!

Latenightreader · 28/07/2016 23:57

I'm 37 and had my first (unsuccesful) IUI last month - when the doctor called for a third type of catheter and then starts to mutter about drawing a diagram for my file I discovered that my tilted uterus is in an even weirder position than they thought. Then I was asked to half empty my bladder - I had no idea I could stop mid flow! Luckily I found it all very funny, but the 2WW was tougher than I expected.

Now I am gearing up for round two - I start testing for my smily face on Sunday. I'm really anxious that it'll all happen on the day of the meeting I can't miss, and they won't be able to offer a later slot... Any suggestions are welcome - I'm doing this on my own and it feels very much on my own at times.

Karendvm · 29/07/2016 01:13

Welcome latenight! First, you aren't alone. Even if it feels like it. Quite a few of us are walking this path, and know how you feel. I've spent some time feeling alone. But I do know that this is what I want and that thought pulls me through. I guess my advice is to try and not worry about what might happen. Lol. I'm Terrible at that myself! I hope you get your smiley face soon!

Karendvm · 29/07/2016 01:14

shoes that does make me feel better. Thank you.Smile

kwick · 29/07/2016 07:29

karen best of luck for today! PMA all the way!

shoes half hour? My wait was only ever 15 mins even with IVF! How do you manage with the wee-wee? I am always desperado to go!!!

latenight welcome!!! And LOL about only letting half out - no way I can do that!!!

What kinds of tips you looking for? Grin I too am footloose and fancy free! It can be quite daunting at times but we are here for you!

So day 3 of Corfu holiday - on a Grand Island Tour today.

INeedNewShoes · 29/07/2016 07:58

I've always emptied my bladder just before IUI! Is that not the done thing?
(FWIW I also have a tilted uterus).

And, yes, half an hour, though I'm sure as long as it's 15 minutes minimum then that's fine (I think there was a study that found that lying down for the first fifteen minutes makes a difference, where as lying there all day doesn't).

Welcome Latenight you're in good company here. Most of us are single. It can be daunting at times but none of us would be doing this at all if we didn't each know that we're capable of it Smile

Hope you're enjoying Corfu Kwick

Happy IUI day Karen Smile

Latenightreader · 29/07/2016 11:10

I was told to make sure I had a full bladder because generally made it easier to insert the tube. It also made the somewhat potholey drive to the clinic...interesting, as well as the nurses attempts to get the catheter in before she transferred me to the doctor in the scan room to check angles. When they pressed down with the ultrasound wand it was an little tense for a few secs before they decided it would be easier if I released a little pressure...

After they'd found their way in, the nurse gave my foot a comforting squeeze and told me to think fertile thoughts while I relaxed for my 15 minutes. I have been taking folic acid, and stopped drinking, but does anyone else have tips or suggestions? It is lovely to know there are others in a similar position, and I am so much happier now I have made the decision and am taking steps.

Lovelyholiday · 29/07/2016 13:04

karen thinking about you today Smile I am currently having all those same thoughts so can empathise. Visualisations do help me, re-training your mind as soon as a negative thought floats in, replace it with its positive counterpart.

Welcome latenight I'm waving the single flag too, there are lots of positives on going it alone (well i think so anyways) and we've still got the rest of our lives to find Mr or Mrs right!

Cycle day one for me today GrinGrin
Here we go!

Karendvm · 29/07/2016 13:39

lovely yay for cd1! Seems like we all have exciting things happening or just on the horizon. Thank you all for your thoughts. Sitting in the waiting room, waiting for my turn. Kinda shaking a bit but focusing on breathing and thinking good thought. Pretty sure I ovulated this morning based on my cramps. I'm actually feeling pretty excited.

CautionHormone · 29/07/2016 16:11

Welcome latenight! Whatever you think, you're not alone. As others have said, a lot of us here are waving the single flag, and I've been quick to realise that this place has kept me sane! When's your next IUI scheduled for?

Karen; happy IUI day! How did it go?

Kwick are you enjoying your holiday? 4 weeks today and I'll be at the airport Grin

Lovely; yay for cd1! Here we go!

I started using opk's again today... Fingers crossed I find my surge again this month!

This losing weight malarkey is harder than I thought - why must everything look so much more appetising when you're trying not to eat it Hmm

CautionHormone · 29/07/2016 16:12

Has anyone heard from taydex recently?! Missing her input and updates on pregnancy!

Karendvm · 29/07/2016 17:36

So......not feeling great. Forgot how uncomfortable I was after the last Iui. Not sure if it's just me or what. But everything went well. My sample was 50 million post wash! They said they have never seen a frozen donor like it. Same donor last time was 26 million. I'm pretty happy about that. Just lying here, hoping everything is going well on the inside. Lol. Happy Friday everyone!

PineappleInaPalmTree · 29/07/2016 18:42

Hi all
Been lurking on this thread for ages, finally got the bottle to speak to you all!
So, I'm single and have decided to try to have a baby with IUI. About 3 years ago I was pregnant, but had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. I wanted to try again, he didn't, so we split. So I'm going it alone!
Have had scans and had HyCoSy on Wednesday, and it looks like I can go for the first IUI in August...mega excited but slightly scared too! I have to make a final decision on a donor as well - think I'm sure on the one I'm going for, but then I get all indecisive! But I kind of just want to get going now, have been thinking about this for about a year.
Anyway, hope everyone is looking forward to a great weekend!
