Great news Kwick Smile that's another 2mm in 24 hours? They're on a roll!

I've just received my blood test results. It looks as though I may have APS which is a possible cause of recurrent miscarriages due to blood clotting. My GP has just gone on holiday for two weeks (argh!) but another lovely GP at the practice has talked through it with me and said that if I get a BFP next week she will speak to a consultant at the hospital to try and get me seen as soon as possible with a view to starting blood thinning treatment (which has to be prescribed in a hospital setting).

I feel a mixture of a bit upset that I have a problem and quite relieved that they have identified a possible issue which should be able to be treated Confused

Karendvm · 26/08/2016 15:21

That's awesome kwick! Glad they are moving along.

shoes I'm happy that you might have an answer. When are you going to test? Are you going to just wait and see if af arrives? Willpower!!!

INeedNewShoes · 26/08/2016 15:30

Karen I'm not sure when I'm going to test. Definitely not until Sunday (12dpo) but actually the way I'm feeling about it I may wait until my OTD (Thursday next week). Where as this time last month I was obsessive about testing, I feel a lot more chilled out this time and can't be bothered to put myself through it. We'll see how long that lasts!

The only reason to test early would be to get the ball rolling as soon as possible with seeing a consultant for heparin which would need to be started asap. Having said that I think it would be better to wait until my OTD to report myself as pregnant in case I have another chemical.

Karendvm · 26/08/2016 15:45

Totally agree with you shoes. I was so disappointed when I tested early. I think I just might not have any tests in the house this next time around. in glad you are more chilled out this time. I know the iui was a disappointment but maybe being relaxed will lead to a great result.

Karendvm · 27/08/2016 00:10

Hi all,
Does any one else have problems with opks? I thought I'd use them during my rest cycle, just to see what happens when I'm off meds. The lines darkened until yesterday, but never got as dark as the control line, and now today I'm getting nothing. ???? Does that mean my surge was yesterday? The time I got pregnant I did get a positive opk, but any cycle since then I've had nothing. Of course, they've all been weird cycles. Just thought this one would be normal. Thoughts?

INeedNewShoes · 27/08/2016 00:41

I tend to have a pattern of the lines getting steadily darker to about 80% then it drops away to nearly nothing for a day or two, then I get a positive within two days after that after a build up to it.

So keep testing!

kwick · 27/08/2016 07:22

shoes I am extremely pleased your GP service is taking you seriously and it looks you may have a way to move forward.
I hope you remain positive - I know it is hard to have had a MC, also chemical pregnancies, but the underlying fact is that you can get pregnant - many people (eg moi) never have any luck with IUI.

karen I thought I did not have a problem with opks, but now after having read so many threads on the subject I am not so sure I was reading mine right... I think you should carry on testing - probably twice a day and see what pattern you get. I am quite relieved they are looking for my surge in my blood (even if I am a bit of a pin cushion at the moment).

Can you believe my neighbour is smoking weed at this hour? Just closed the window and bedroom door - trying to protect my nephew who is here for a sleepover.

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 27/08/2016 08:42

Kwick - that's really grim. I can't imagine waking up to the smell of weed Sad

I'm still feeling quite chilled out about things. I don't actually feel stressed, just aware that I need to be proactive about the things I need to make sure happen if/when I do get pregnant again. My neighbour said to me last night, 'It's remarkable; looking at you, you'd never know you've been through so much'. Apparently I always seem happy! This is good - it means I'm not just pretending I'm not stressed!

kwick · 27/08/2016 10:53

shoes My philosophy is if you show happy on the outside a) people generally respond better to you and b) you can increase your own happy Grin

So I am now at 14mm and 11mm. Apparently the reason why growth might be slower this time is because 2 follicles are becoming dominant... Well we do have a history of fraternal twins in my family....

After clinic apppintment is over we are venturing south to Clapham Common... We have our passports at the ready!!!

Eek lovely that's fab news Star congratulations...roll on the 16th!!

Yay keep going kwicks follicles! Glad they are growing well now. What is the best size to harvest them at?

Had my sisters wedding yesterday, went really well, altho I was home by 10.40 and went straight to bed,I'm absolutely shattered! Been to shops this morning now to hibernate for rest of day
Happy weekend everyone x

kwick · 28/08/2016 10:21

pickle so happy you enjoyed the wedding. Enjoy your restful weekend.

Just getting ready to go to clinic again... It is official: it is my second home!

shoes you how doing?

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 28/08/2016 10:32

I'm doing ok thanks. I caved (no surprise there!) and tested and it was negative. I'm 11dpo today. On the cycle where I got pregnant I think I got my first positive test at 12dpo so I'm holding out hope that it could turn positive yet.

The good news regarding my sanity is that I tested once yesterday and once today and after looking at them after the 10 minutes had passed I threw them in the bin, whereas last month I kept looking at them repeatedly trying to find a line!

Have you had a scan today Kwick?

kwick · 28/08/2016 12:48

Just on way back to my mum's after scan: 16mm, 11mm, 8mm and lining 8.8!! They gave me Merional and Cetrotide to delay ovulation and I have Pregnyl with me for when they say to administer. So egg collection very soon methinks :) I am not giving up on the milk yet!

shoes way to early to test! But I am glad you are ok and not getting into a bad headspace is now the time to admit that I kept all the tests from my bfp and they are stored under my bed, alongside the baby books I got?

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 28/08/2016 14:12

Sounding good Kwick! 16mm is really getting there.

I've got my OTD BFP FRER (bloody hell check out those acronyms) from my pregnant cycle but I chucked the rest away.

kwick · 28/08/2016 17:08

Look at our allotment harvest!!!

Also egg collection is on Tuesday morning!!!

Brilliant news re egg collection Smile

pickle162 · 28/08/2016 17:33

Yummy!!

Wow kwick so happy for you, seems a loooonnng time coming. How exciting :)

I now have £2000 in my baby pot Grin

INeedNewShoes · 28/08/2016 17:41

Wow Pickle good for you for saving so much! Admirable Star

I've got to the point where I've run out of money for the Baby Plan so I just kind of gather the money somehow every IUI. This approach does mean I'll be forced to take a couple of months off soon though because I can't get into debt getting pregnant or I'll be in a complete financial pickle once a baby shows up.

pickle162 · 28/08/2016 19:21

Yeh this is why I'm trying to be strong and resist just going to do it asap. I want to have enough to do a few in a row and hopefully have some left over so I have some savings for when (hopefully)bubs is here as doing it on our own is going to be hard.
Hopefully will all work out for us :)

kwick · 28/08/2016 20:12

pickle I am so impressed! That was fast! Well done!

Let me tell you all the ways you can consume milk:

  • by the glass
  • in tea (decaff of course) Wink
  • with rice krispies
  • in an almond magnum
  • in an aubergine bake
  • in homemade custard (Spanish recipe)
Yep all done today!!!
OP posts:
pickle162 · 28/08/2016 20:34

Hehe sooooo much milk! I would be sooooo poorly if I had any of that- lactose intolerant and alpro alternatives make me poorly. I can tolerate natural yoghurt tho so that would have to be my alternative.
My pay goes down in October tho so won't be able to save as much :(

Lovelyholiday · 28/08/2016 21:08

Gosh so much to catch up on! kwick hurray!!! Egg collection on Tuesday....wow!

shoes well done for not stressing! That's brilliant!!

pickle you're doing great with the savings! When do you plan to start?

pickle162 · 28/08/2016 21:24

I'm hoping May. I've got to have my last op in November (which is just round the corner from the clinic) so hope to visit for an informal chat/look round around then and find out what I need to do, then maybe have appointment with consultant Feb time and tests so that can have first iui in may. That's the plan :/

Lovelyholiday · 28/08/2016 21:39

Amazing pickle the time will fly by! You'll be having you're treatment before you know it! How exciting!
I'm sticking around because I need to see you all get your bfp's Grin

kwick · 28/08/2016 21:43

pickle not sure what I would do without milk - but yoghurt is a good alternative. Can you cope with Goat's milk?
How can your pay go down? Are you reducing hours?

How are you doing lovely?
