Oh my goodness! Yes, read Harry Potter! Skills such as apparating are necessary!

INeedNewShoes · 16/08/2016 04:06

Hmm a middle of the night positive OPK just to make timing tricky!

kwick · 16/08/2016 08:24

shoes are you all set then? Did you get flights? Best of luck!

I have actually read Harry Potter but I have a REALLY bad memory... Is that when get into a fireplace and then appear elsewhere? Yep defo need that as a life skill!

This dope smoking is really getting me down - yesterday evening when I got home, whole flat stank and opening windows did not help as they were smoking outside and it just comes in. I was so hot that I opened my window at about 3am only to be woken up by fumes again at 5ish. I went on my council's environmental health site - no mention of this type of issue... Maybe I will just ring for some advice.

INeedNewShoes · 16/08/2016 08:48

Nope, that's floo powder :-)

I think you should phone for advice re the smoke - that's really unpleasant to put up with.

Yep, I was booking flights and a hotel at 4am this morning Confused and then at 7am my clinic phoned to confirm my appointment.

After much going around in circles with the nurse at the clinic we decided that tomorrow morning is a better bet than this afternoon so I'm heading out there this evening, IUI at 10am tomorrow and then flying back in the afternoon. I just couldn't run to two nights in hotels (£200 a night for something relatively basic at the moment!) but I've paid for parking right next to the airport terminal so that I have as easy a journey home as possible.

I feel excited Smile which I didn't last month. Hopefully I'm in a slightly better place now.

Lovelyholiday · 16/08/2016 10:07

shoes great news!! Best of luck 😍

kwick I have neighbours just like that! It's a very sickly smell, definitely call someone.

Karendvm · 16/08/2016 12:13

kwick I had a neighbour like that! Every single day, and I hate that smell. I hope you can get it sorted.

Yay shoes! I'm glad you are feeling more positive. Hope the swimmers catch a good egg.

How are you feeling today lovely?

Latenightreader · 16/08/2016 12:31

Hope everyone is doing ok, and best of luck shoes!

I'm on day 10 of the 2WW. I did a test yesterday (more to see how the weird strip things I bought online worked than expecting a result). It was negative, but I'm not giving up until AF actually arrives. Incredibly sore boobs as I usually have at this point in my cycle, so I am not hugely hopeful... Mostly I am really scared that if it doesn't work this time the clinic won't have another go until my wonky anatomy has been investigated, which will either be done privately and cost a lot, or via the NHS and I'll wait ages and feel guilty. However, maybe the pineapple, red wine, and cayenne pepper will have done the trick!

Lovelyholiday · 16/08/2016 17:09

Hi karen I'm feeling good today, although a little scared I'm doing too much lifting and carrying heavy bags, but (I have no choice as it's work) I just did several trips instead of my usual donkey impersonation Grin

late I hope it works for you, 10 days is still early, we are on a similar time frame, Im officially 6dpo, sore boobs is a good sign so fingers and legs crossed

kwick · 16/08/2016 18:53

For the love of GOD... Ok shoes point taken, I will re-read Harry Potter!!! Grin

shoes your clinic is in Copenhagen right? This is high season due to the cruises - I remember it well# as the first week with my current employer was spent in-training in Copenhagen.
Flying straight after is said to be good for magic potion Wink best of luck!!! Let us know how you get on!

disclaimer: clearly I have a memory for some things, just not Harry Potter

I am gonna call "Ghostbusters"!!!!
Do you think I should say something directly to the neighbour? I am normally fairly assertive but I find this situation very intimidating...

Hang in their late!

lovely do NOT trust the boobs! Especially if you are on progesterone supplements.

Lovelyholiday · 16/08/2016 19:58

Hahaha kwick my boobs have been hurting since the trigger shot Blush

INeedNewShoes · 16/08/2016 22:04

Kwick do I remember rightly that you speak French (or have I made that up)? I'm re-reading the whole Harry Potter series but in French. Highly recommend it as it helps already knowing the story a bit and it's a good excuse to read the series again.

I am indeed in Copenhagen. I arrived just before sunset and I have never in my life seen such a beautiful sky! The range of colours between blue and red just seemed to be on a whole other level to anything I've ever seen in the UK. Luton airport was absolute chaos today - I've never seen it so busy, and I had not one but two toddlers sitting in the row behind screaming and kicking for most of the flight - that should have served as a very effective contraceptive, but it'll take more than that to put me off Grin

I'm looking forward to a full night's sleep after getting less than 3 hours last night between finishing working at 2:30am, then getting a positive OPK, booking flights etc. and then trying to get a full day's work done before leaving for the airport at 3:30pm.

Thanks for everyone's good wishes. I'm using the same donor as I did in March when I got pregnant. I decided that he and I must be compatible for that pregnancy to get as far as it did, so I'm giving him another go.

Late well done for making it to 10dpo before testing! 10dpo is still very early. The earliest I've had a definitely visible (if very faint) positive is 12dpo so there's definitely time yet.

Fingers crossed for you and for Lovely

Kwick I would think it's pretty pointless for you to talk to your neighbours about it. They're very unlikely to change their habits if they haven't already considered that their smoke will be drifting into other flats. Is your block managed by an agency or is it a local authority block?

Karendvm · 17/08/2016 03:21

shoes I'm thinking about you, hope you are sleeping well, and I hope that you wake up feeling positive and I hope things go well.

late and lovely everything the I can cross is cross for you both.

kwick I forgot to say yay for af! I go distracted by Harry Potter.....lol. I never said anything to my neighbour about the smell. You'd figure he would know that I could smell it, right? Just stayed inside while he smoked, which isn't an ideal solution.

INeedNewShoes · 17/08/2016 09:41

Hmm my usually fantastic clinic mixed up my donor request. I asked for the same donor as I used on the 7th March and they used the donor from last cycle instead who I've got in my head wasn't compatible. Trying to feel positive but it's a bit of a battle Confused

Karendvm · 17/08/2016 12:11

Oh shoes I don't know what to even say to that. Hugs

Latenightreader · 17/08/2016 15:37

Oh shoes, what a blow.

kwick · 17/08/2016 18:29

Bloody hell shoes Angry

Lovelyholiday · 17/08/2016 19:11

Oh shoes how frustrating!
I hope they make it up to you!!

pickle162 · 17/08/2016 20:41

Oh shoes :( that totally sucks! Stoopid clinic!
I really need to do my list about what everyone is doing! My head is Bleugh!
Late and lovely good luck with your wait! Hopefully the days whizz by!

INeedNewShoes · 17/08/2016 23:25

Thanks for your support. I've just tried to type out an explanation about what happened with the donor mix up but it was getting very long and boring so I've deleted it and written another attempt which is nearly as long anyway! Please ignore this if it's just too dull!
When I booked the appointment I requested the same donor as I'd used in March; receptionist confirmed availability. When I turned up today the midwife (who does the IUIs) said to me 'I think we've got something wrong here because the sperm is from the donor you used last month, not from the cycle where you got pregnant'. I said that I specifically hadn't wanted to use sperm from last month's donor as I was concerned about compatibility and that I would rather have had any other donor rather than that one. She had checked availability for the March donor before my appointment when she realised the mistake and there was none available. I was then given the choice to either use the sperm from last month's donor or I could use another donor. As I was already 30 hours after my positive OPK I decided it was better to just get on with it with the sperm that had already been prepared rather than waiting for a new sample to thawed/washed etc. It was so frustrating because I had arrived at the clinic in a really positive frame of mind and this whole palava really threw me.

After the insemination I asked to speak to a manager and was presented with the secretarial manager of the clinic who was lovely and understanding but did basically imply that I mustn't have been clear enough on the phone (funny how the midwife understood that I'd wanted the March donor after looking at my notes and had immediately understood the mix up). I said I didn't want to argue about it as I was doing my best to keep calm and relaxed(!) but that they need to look at their systems to avoid this happening again. They're going to refund me the cost of the sperm (£300) which I think is all they could do really. I haven't decided whether to write to the actual manager of the clinic. Some women would be devastated not to have their chosen donor, so they were lucky it was me that this happened with as I'm relatively philosophical about it. The main issue is that I arrived at the clinic expecting things to go a certain way and it was very off-putting to have this curve ball thrown in just at the crucial time to be happy and calm!

Right, wittering over Blush

Karendvm · 18/08/2016 01:32

Oh shoes I think you have every right to be upset. What we are doing is hard enough. Things really should go as planned. Of course they want to place blame on you. That just isn't fair though. BUT maybe things will turn out well. I really hope that they do. X

kwick · 18/08/2016 08:04

shoes what karen said. Please try and keep PMA strong and eat loads of pineapple and cayenne pepper. BTW just heard on another thread that carrots are very good too...

shoes I know the odd word/expression in French mainly coming from Agatha Christie's Poirot and 'Allo 'Allo Confused I am bilingual in Spanish though - I am half Spanish and lived over there for a while when I was younger.

So one less country to be in next week but still is going to be a tad complicated logistically... Cannot believe it is coming round so soon... Which is wierd as it felt like an eternity to get here....

Still no news from caution - I am getting very worried.

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 18/08/2016 08:18

Kwick probably best not to read Harry Potter in French then! Whereabouts in Spain did you live? I love Spain. Have had lots of lovely holidays in Galicia and all along the North cost.

Have you tried sending Caution a private message? Hopefully she's just on holiday or something.

I've woken up feeling a bit ugh but I'll pick up as the day goes on.

kwick · 18/08/2016 18:03

shoes I love Galicia too!! I lived in Seville (my all time favourite city), Valencia, Barcelona and a little beach resort called Denia. My family is from Madrid so have been there loads too plus in 1988 we spent 6 weeks in a camper van travelling through Spain plus all the travel I have done on other holidays Grin
I remember when I was 15 going to the Islas Cies near Vigo - beautiful!

I sent caution a PM last week....

OP posts:
pickle162 · 18/08/2016 18:16

Caution was going on holiday wasn't she....I can't remember the date without going through all the posts but was definitely coming up so fingers crossed she is just sunning herself somewhere nice

INeedNewShoes · 18/08/2016 19:58

I've just looked back and on the 3rd of August she said she was off on holiday 'in 22 days' so not quite yet. I hope she's ok.
