Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

Welcome umblub
Stay positive, I always wanted a biggish gap, definitely wanted DD to be independent before another came along. Only problem, like the rest of you, I want it now and am too impatient to wait!
Jenny I know how you feel...fingers crossed, I'm sure chocolate will help!

jennymac31 · 09/06/2016 11:38

I've already had a mini Mars bar and a couple of chocolates from a celebration box rara 25!

Novinosincebambino · 09/06/2016 12:33

Jenny one of my things during pregnancy was the rage - shocking rage! Including getting out of the car and telling a truck driver (big guy, big truck) to get the f... out of my road now. Only made sense when I got the BFP. I'm sure he thought I was a mental case (I am tiny and very polite usually) cause he did get out of my way. Chocolate helps when the red mist descends.

Hi ladies sorry I have been MIA, welcome newbies and congrats to If and Tink - good start to the thread!

Not sure if I mentioned it but I have PCOS, and they think my high levels of testosterone is what caused my MMCs, so I took metformin before I got pregnant with my son and for the first 12 weeks.

So I've finally got back to my 'correct' dose (I have to build up to it to cope with the side effects) and today I have got a very positive OPK on CD13! Given that my last few cycles have been irregular and nearer 40 days, I am very shocked!

tinkwastaken · 09/06/2016 20:41

Hi all,
Got my 3+ today so feeling a bit more positive. I am also still having symptoms so that is good but still keeping my fingers crossed.
Good luck to you all x x

RememberToSmile1980 · 09/06/2016 20:44

Hi ladies
Brilliant news tink!
Welcome to the newbies - sorry I'm on my phone so can't name everyone!
I have had some brown ovulation mucus yesterday and today? Not done opk's as wanted to chill out and go with the flow. How is everyone doing?

Hi all. Been a bit slack at posting as been on hol in Brittany. Nothing to report really CD20 so just waiting to see what happens. After my 42 day cycle last month not sure what my cycle will do but at least won't be driving myself crazy ha ha HA as I know to possibly expect a very long cycle so being late for normal doesn't necessarily mean anything. The really good news is that DD has slept through for 4 whole nights which is her all time record ever and means we have a bit more energy to DTD Grin!!

Jenny how are you feeling today? Hopefully the self medicating with some chocs did the trick.

Great news about your cycle Let's. Get on it!

jennymac31 · 11/06/2016 07:40

Penguin13 - the chocolate did help!

Been having cramps and backache since then. Had a brief episode of nausea yesterday morning and my boobs felt very heavy last night. Got BFN this morning but af isn't due for 5 days. Am having friends round for bbq this afternoon so at least I can have a drink because I think that's me done for this month. If af doesn't arrive in a weeks time then will test again.

Hope everyone is well xx

PurpleRibbons · 11/06/2016 13:21

Just checking in, I've had a very busy week. Welcome to newcomers.
TWW time here. DTD a lot at the start of the week and think I ovulated on Weds, been too tired to do it again since but fingers crossed we've done enough!

Penguin13 · 13/06/2016 05:37

Fingers crossed for you Purple. Hope you are feeling relaxed about the 2ww. Do you abstain from drinking and all that jazz during the 2ww? I have been wondering about this as I see lots of people do. I tend not to abstain because AFAIK there is no evidence alcohol would affect the embryo at such an early stage before a placenta has even formed but am wondering if maybe abstaining might help implantation. I don't drink much anyway - a couple of glasses at most usually.

Sort of in the 2ww but pretty sure again that we haven't conceived. DTD 4 times between CD11 and CD17 then massively ran out of steam Blush!and currently CD22. Not 100% sure when/or even if I ovd but zero symptoms and from previous two pregnancies (admittedly not the widest sample) I just knew fairly early on and my symptoms were fairly distinctive. I can't put my finger on why but my whole cycle feels different since having DD. Possibly it's all in my head though.

Novinosincebambino · 13/06/2016 08:26

I know what you mean penguin my friend conceived on honeymoon while at an all inclusive resort so she definitely did not abstain. The doctor told her not to worry as the baby is not completely a part of you until the placenta develops, it's more about a healthy environment for it to grow in. If you're generally healthy and not a heavy drinker and I'm not either, I wouldn't tend to worry.

I was doubled over with cramps yesterday and just wanted to lie down. Don't have any pain killers with me so had to drink some of DDs calpol! From the symptoms I think I ovulated around the 7th but not holding out much hope as we only DTD 3 times around then. Stranger things have happened I suppose.

Good luck to all in the tww!

jennymac31 · 13/06/2016 11:44

Af turned up this morning (3 days early!) so I'm out for this month. Gutted but this was my 2nd month of ttcing. At least I can have a drink or two, as have 2 parties to go over the next couple of weeks and then back to ttcing with the hope of getting bfp next month.

Penguin13 · 14/06/2016 05:02

Sorry the witch got you jenny and early too. I guess at least she didn't do her sneaky trick of getting your hopes up. Enjoy letting your hair down at those parties.

Currently staying at the PILs In France which has caused some challenges as we are in the squeakiest bed imaginable! Blush We DTD once more for luck as my cycle was so long last time. Hate the weird feeling of limbo not knowing when I will ov and therefore when my 2ww starts and ends. I guess I should work a bit harder on trying to pinpoint ov using sticks.

jessplussomeonenew · 14/06/2016 08:26

AF here too. Sigh.

Penguin13 · 14/06/2016 16:45

Sorry AF got you too Jess. Hope next cycle will be your month.

iemma321q · 14/06/2016 19:53

Hi all

Can I join you?

My ds1 is still very young but we are thinking of ttc from July as we are worried about leaving it too late and having difficulties. Does anybody here have a youngish child/ baby?

Penguin13 · 15/06/2016 08:37

Welcome iemma. How young is young? My DD is 18 mo and only just started sleeping through on a semi consistent basis and we've been trying for a few months - we would have started earlier but DH has a serious congenital heart condition and we thought he might have to have a valve replacement op.

iemma321q · 15/06/2016 15:33

He's 8 months old. Are we mad??

RaRa25 · 15/06/2016 15:53

Welcome iemma Yes you are mad!

Sorry about the AF Jenny and Jess, mine is due next week but not very hopeful.
Penguin I don't abstain from alcohol on purpose, I don't drink lots but did have a blow out on sat as met up with family members I have not seen in ages, the jäger bombs were not my brightest idea!
So who is still waiting for this month?

Buddahbelly · 15/06/2016 15:53

Hi iemma No I don't think you're mad at all. I think if it can work in your family go for it. Personally I would have had more children by now (ds is nearly 4) But realistically I had no help at home, was on my own most days whilst dp was at work and after the first year was going mad on my own, as ds was such a nightmare baby and didn't sleep through till he was nearly 2, so it kind of put me off for a while.

Now he's a bit older It's so much easier and I figure he can help out a bit more, he's so independant anyway so there will be no stopping him from helping- if it ever happens for us again that is!

Buddahbelly · 15/06/2016 15:57

jenny & jess sorry about AF making an appearance!

Im getting the cramps myself now, due on next week so it may be just a bit early Sad

Penguin13 · 15/06/2016 17:55

Iemma I don't think you are mad ok maybe a little Grin. Agree with Buddha that if it can work for your family then go for it. We have no grandparents nearer than 2 hours away so very little help on that score and like Buddha how DD slept or didn't was a factor too.

Rara Jaegerbombs - ouch! We have been drinking more than usual last 2 weeks being in France on hol it's practically the law but rather more sedately sticking to red wine and cider.

Am technically still waiting but almost certain it hasn't happened this month. Having said that, you ain't out till the witch shows up so there's hope for us yet Buddha.

Novinosincebambino · 15/06/2016 19:31

I'm waiting this month Rara and good work on the jägerbombs! We're just back from an all inclusive resort so I did have the odd glass of wine or four. Very unlikely as DD slept in the same room/bed as us most nights - thank goodness for afternoon naps in another room! Not having any symptoms apart from a possible UTI which I think says more about holiday swimming pools than a possible pregnancy!

iemma321q · 15/06/2016 21:17

We also have no family nearby. We just feel that we need to give ourselves the maximum amount of time to conceive. We were very lucky with ttc our pfb as it happened extremely quickly but that doesn't mean it will be then same this time.
