Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

Thanks everyone for ur comments. I really get a lot out of reading this thread & hearing that others have similar feelings.

Sunny I wish I didn't have to tell DH when it was the FW & could just leave it & DTD 'naturally'. Trouble is before TTC we only used to DTD once or twice a month so would never get pregnant that way!

wispaxmas · 14/04/2016 22:51

starmist, that happened with my DH last time we were TTC - the pressure was just too much I guess, but that was the cycle we got our BFP!

Jenny, I need to lose weight, too! I've had some crap family news the past week and obviously been comfort eating and put on 0.8kg when I'd been previously losing steadily (but slowly). I would say why not just TTC now, it's not like you'll have to give up losing weight when you get pregnant - any exercise regime you start now could be continued throughout and if your plan is healthy eating then all the better so long as you're eating enough of it, right? That's my plan for if we get pregnant quickly, anyway.

My plan three years ago was to wait until he's four. Then I decided I wanted to lose enough weight that I wouldn't be classed as obese by the midwifery teams. I've got a month to lose 6lb then I'm officially just fat and not obese for ttc in may 😂

Blink1982 · 14/04/2016 23:33

Fertility when your overweight is not as low and problematic as it's made out to be in my view. I was bmi 30/31 with dexter and was pregnant the first month of trying. Also at slimmingworld there have been two very very large ladies manage to have successful pregnancies. Clearly its a good idea to be as good a shape as poss but i wouldnt prevent weight from stopping me ttc. I just want to get to bmi 29 so I'm not refused a waterbirth for being obese again. Plus the lower I get to the less heavy I'll be at the end of 9m to start all over again.

jennymac31 · 15/04/2016 06:28

Thanks wispaxmas & blink1982.

I'm going to crack on with ttc while continuing with slimming world and see what happens. It took me 6 months to fall pregnant with dd so we'll see what happens. Am 2 days late but not giving it much thought as I know my periods haven't worked themselves out yet.

SoozC · 15/04/2016 07:14

Jenny that's what I'm doing. BMI just 29 but cracking ahead with ttc. At 34 I feel I need to and losing the weight would just take too long!

wispaxmas · 15/04/2016 07:48

Another BMI of 29 here, but my BMI was 28.5 or something when I booked in during my first pregnancy and the midwives didn't mention anything about it when they weighed me and when I asked if weight was a problem she gave a sort of bemused laugh and said the risk was really more for people with a BMI of over 35. I actually lost weight in my last pregnancy even though I didn't have morning sickness or anything. I was 2kg lighter after having my daughter than when I'd booked in! It was mat leave and cake that really did me in! I'm determined to not fall into that trap again.

Starmist could you maybe just start doing it a few times a week whilst you were TTC or is that too much hassle? It's a difficult one, you might find it easier to relax as you get in to it though, obviously I hope you just get pregnant quickly and don't have to worry!!

I found that I ate an obscene amount of crap when I was pregnant with DS and put loads of weight on. I'm really determined not to do that this time, I'm sure it contributed to how awful I felt. I do have a friend who lost weight throughout her pregnancy because she was determined to eat well and exercise for her baby's sake so I'm guessing it's doable if you're committed!

Starmist · 15/04/2016 08:15

Sunny DH is stressed with work at the moment & I hadn't realised quite how much. He's tired & just wants to have early nights so he said any time I've initiated DTD he's not been in the mood. We agreed the tactic for May will be a brief, targeted attack of TTC in the FW. He seemed v relieved. Maybe that could be the plan until things calm down at his work & then we could try to move back to regular DTD through the month

chelle792 · 15/04/2016 09:39

starmist I could write your posts myself!! DH is currently doing a long commute for work and is shattered. Luckily today is the last day on this job and he doesn't have anything lined up for next week yet so will be off.

Anyone on the ewcm hunt? I've had nothing this month so I doubt it matters that dh hasn't gone anywhere near me!! Feeling a bit gutted tbh

NJ81 · 15/04/2016 10:00

Hi ladies. New to this thread and noticed a lot of people are TTC #2. I'm still trying. To conceive #1 after a miscarriage in December. I'm 2 days late for AF with no signs of coming and my boobs are pretty tender which is not normal for me at all. I'm holding off on doing a test as I can't face the disappointment of a negative so wanted a couple more days. Would appreciate any shares on what others experienced... Thanks!

TheresaMarie55 · 15/04/2016 11:51

Good luck NJ, sounds promising!

I had a bmi of 29 with both previous pregnancies weighing around 13 stone at the start. I gained a massive 4 stone in my second pregnancy and struggled to last she it. Decided enough was enough though and went on a diet. Am now weighing around 12 stone and only have 11lbs until in classed as a 'healthy' weight. I can deal with that though. At my hospital you aren't classes as high risk unless bmi is above 34-35 . I will be watching what I eat this time, don't want to hit 17 stone ever again like I did. All my life I've been around 10-12 stone and am planning on not going over 13 stone even at full term thus time. Easier said than done though isn't it! X

Sienna9522 · 15/04/2016 13:22

I caved in and did a clearblue digital test this morning which is supposed to be able to detect pregnancy 4 days before a missed period, it was BFN! I'm due on Sunday or Monday so think I'm out this month. Can't help but feel disappointment Sad

GummyBunting · 15/04/2016 13:42

Don't mind me as I slide into the thread:

Age 28
TTC #1
Cycle 1

Came off the pill in December and have been logging periods since then on Ovia. Am now armed with 4 months of data and ready to go (I'm a planner; I love a spreadsheet).

It's been nice reading all the posts on here, makes it all a bit less lonely. Part of me wants to discuss cycle dates and EWCM with my nearest and dearest but you can't really can you?!

sparkle789 · 15/04/2016 14:14

Hi can I join you all?

Age 28
Ttc #3
2 dd's (9&2)

I am trying to be very relaxed this time. I was relaxed with dd1 and it took 3 months, when we were ttc dd2 I was extremely stressed about it and it took a year. Probably a coincidence but you never know.

I took my last pill last week and started bleeding yesterday. So cd2 today.

wispaxmas · 15/04/2016 14:53

Ugh, Chelle, you shouldn't have to go hunting for EWCM, it makes itself known!

Sienna, I thought CBD were less sensitive than FRER? If it's not your cycle, sorry, though.

Gummy, spreadsheets? You sure you're relaxed? Haha, I'm similar in that I wanted to 'gather data' before TTC, but I've not gone so far as to make a spreadsheet, lol. Welcome! And welcome to you, too, sparkle!

OP posts:
Sienna9522 · 15/04/2016 15:11

Wispa, I think they probably are less sensitive. 25 I think, which is strange as they say you can test 4 days earlier but with another test I have where the sensitivity is 25, it says to test on the day of the missed period but who knows

chelle792 · 15/04/2016 15:11

haha wispa don't panic, I'm not busy rooting around for it. I definitely know when it's an ewcm day. Grin I just think this month doesn't look to be an ovulation month as I'm supposed to be ovulating tomorrow and there's literally been nothing

gummy a spreadsheet is pretty impressive. What do you record?

GummyBunting · 15/04/2016 15:43

Ha, my spreadsheet is for BBT.
I'm from an event management background so for me relaxed means feeling in control. Organised fun is the best fun etc.

cheesemumma · 15/04/2016 15:53

Hi ladies,

sorry to add another one to the list! Ive been ttc #1 for 4 months. I have been following you the whole time in a non stalker kind of way since the previous thread. I wasn't registered before but couldn't keep my gob shut anymore and so registered so I can be involved!

im due af today but I've had bad period pains and cramps and bfn so looks like I'll be here nect month.

amyway. Just wanted to say thanks, you guys have kept me sane the last few months even if you didn't know it!

NJ81 · 15/04/2016 16:32

I love the fact there's a forum like this where you can share with other women. Helps keep the sanity!
For those that have conceived before, what were your first symptoms?

finova · 15/04/2016 16:46

I'm going to tentatively join.
We are thinking of trying from next Dec for #3. That would give a 4 1/2 year gap.
Just going to use withdrawal till then though, and I've not been on the pill for ages.
I'm 34 and suddenly feel that I'm getting older (though realise I'm not really).
Not sure if I'm going to track cycles as think I typically ovulate on day 17 but DS was conceived on day 7!

cheesemumma · 15/04/2016 17:38

Exactly mj81, dh refuses to talk about any of it.vi honestly think he'd prefer me to turn up one day and be like 'tah dah' heres your son! I don't think he can handle this disappointment each month-worse than me. However, it's not as easy for us girls just to pretend it's not happening. I live away from friends and family as well so these threads are a life line!

sparkle789 · 15/04/2016 17:43

NJ - with both of mine my first sign was really sore boobs. I didn't get many early symptoms but I still always symptom spot like crazy!

SunnyDays1987 · 15/04/2016 18:33

Hello to all the new people!

Sienna I'm pretty sure clearblues are less sensitive. I think it picks up 25 (whatever the measure of hcg is) where as FRERs pick up 10! So you might not be out yet.

Gummy loving the organisation. I'm a bit of a control freak too so I liked temping. But it doesn't actually help with the getting pregnant part, not much you can do to control that other than the obvious!!

NJ my only real symptom that was different to anything else I've ever experienced was the random couple of dizzy spells I got. Other than that everything else was the same as pre AF.

cheese glad we've been helping you!!

Still waiting for AF before cycle 1 officially starts. Yawn!
