Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

It's cycle one Confused Shock I really didn't expect anything to happen so fast! Same thing with DS many years ago. We've been using withdrawal for contraception for the last 5 years and yet apparently I just look at a penis with intent once and Confused

But I don't want to be complacent. It's early days. We are high risk. So just taking things one step at a time. First faint positive is a lovely step one :) Step two is either a nice strong one later in the week, or getting through the next two weeks without bleeding. I'm not going to do anything or book any appointments until then.

I have another faint one this morning but I can see it with the naked eye. DH won't be able to see it. So I haven't informed him. I have started feeling sick today though and my boobs are straining at my t-shirts.

Fuzy, I did a test on Sat which was 4 days before AF and got a BFN. No hint of anything. I even drank wine! (Not too much luckily.) I think I must have ovulated later than I thought this month, meaning AF is due later than I thought which is leading to faint tests.

SunnyDays1987 · 13/04/2016 12:11

chelle I'm not really sure. I came off the pill after being on for about 10 years and my cycles were totally messed up, so we were officially trying for 5 months but I didn't have many periods in that time and some months I bled randomly throughout the month. I think probably second cycle I could have got pregnant I did!

Fuzy I know people do test early but you end up in a situation like this where you might be pregnant but you're getting an BFN or you might get a BFP and find that AF still arrives. If you can it's probably much better to wait until AF is overdue. I know some people find that impossible though!!

Bertie laughed a lot at 'looking at a penis with intent'!! Good sign if you're starting to feel rough though! Aw congratulations. What's your EDD?

BertieBotts · 13/04/2016 12:58

I think it would be 17/18 December Sunny. Eeeek!

wispaxmas · 13/04/2016 14:56

fuzy, some people don't get a bfp until several days AFTER their period is due. Just because it's a bfn today doesn't mean it won't turn into a bfp in a few days. And if it doesn't, next cycle might be the one. TTC can be a roller coaster, so try to relax.

Bertie, I properly chuckled at that. My SIL is the same- once and pregnant!!

Exciting Bertie! I have a friend like that too. Got pregnant first cycle first time and second cycle second time despite having a husband who is only home at weekends! She's from a family of very fertile women too so I think it might be genetic if that's possible?!?!

TheresaMarie55 · 13/04/2016 19:05

I broke my phone yesterday so had to get a new one Shock I'm apparently in my fertile window in three days time so am going to make sure we DTD plenty now! Our four year wedding anniversary and my birthday today Grin x

SunnyDays1987 · 13/04/2016 19:31

Happy birthday and anniversary Theresa hope you get a BFP as a present!

TheresaMarie55 · 13/04/2016 20:17

Thanks sunny Smile I'm not 100% sure I'm even on my first cycle though tbh. I took my last pill (stopped half way through a pack) , had what definitely seemed like a proper AF and then came off after about five days. I'm treating this as a proper cycle as I caught first time with my other children but we'll just have to see x

Starmist · 13/04/2016 20:32

Congrats bertie! Flowers
Sorry to have to ask this but I haven't got a clue... What is it that ur supposed to notice with cm to let you know that ur ovulating?

Starmist · 13/04/2016 20:34

Jenny - really pleased to hear you aren't being made redundant, must be a huge weight off ur mind. At least now you can focus on TTC Grin

SunnyDays1987 · 13/04/2016 21:31

Theresa you're lucky to go back to normal so quickly after coming off the pill. You must be very fertile!

Starmist your CM goes like an egg white, so totally clear and very stretchy (EWCM= egg white cervical mucus). It helps the sperm to survive apparently. I think women get it in very varying degrees!

Starmist · 13/04/2016 21:43

Thanks sunny

Been trying to DTD every other day & tonight DH couldn't finish. I can tell he's upset now & I feel terrible.

Starmist · 14/04/2016 06:31

Didn't really explain myself in that last post. I meant I feel terrible that I've clearly put DH under pressure. This is only the start of what could be a very long journey, I really need to work harder on this whole 'being relaxed' thing. We've DTD twice this FW so I might suggest to DH that we take the rest of the month off.

rylea · 14/04/2016 07:28

Poor you, it's so hard to get hung up on DTD on the right day and thinking about it all the time! Might be worth having the month off and just DTD when you feel like it, sending lots of hugs Flowers

TheresaMarie55 · 14/04/2016 07:31

Try not to get down about it starmist, its easy to get carried away when TTC and I font think the men do fully understand how easy it is to let it take over. Hope you're OK x

TheresaMarie55 · 14/04/2016 07:34

My husband prefers to take the approach of not knowing when I'm in my fw and just DTD as and when. This is all well and good when we're having a month full of DTD but on those months when we're busy, tired and don't get much time for it its not so good! I'm two days away from my fertile window now, DTD last night and now hoping to DTD every other day for the next week x

SunnyDays1987 · 14/04/2016 07:35

It is a lot of pressure starmist, could you just DTD a couple of times a week every week and not mention when you're fertile so he doesn't feel like he's really got to perform?!

SunnyDays1987 · 14/04/2016 07:38

Sorry starmist I don't mean you're putting him under pressure, just that TTC is a lot of pressure in general!

FriendlyGhost · 14/04/2016 08:50

Hi all, I lost the thread and have just found it again. Welcome to all the newbies!
I'm currently mid AF but the good news is that my cycle lasted 31 days so it's back to where it was before DD. I've also managed to cut down DD's feeds a bit so I'm hoping that will help with fertility.
DH still wants to wait until June but I'm hoping I've convinced him that the end of May will be a good time to start trying. If my cycle stays the same I should be fertile around the last weekend. Saying that, I had absolutely no sleep last night as DD yelled and fed for most of it. I don't know if it's teeth or illness or just her being a general nuisance but I started to wonder exactly why I wanted another one. Typically she's being cute now so I'm back to wanting another baby!

jennymac31 · 14/04/2016 09:03

Thanks starmist - it has been a huge weight that's now been lifted.

AF was supposed to arrive yesterday but am starting to feel cramps so think it will be imminent.

I'm in a bit of a quandry about starting ttc. My head is saying wait until june so I can lose some more weight (have only lost 7lbs) but my heart is saying start ttc now. My hubby is happy to start now while we both continue to lose some more weight.

Lykke1000 · 14/04/2016 12:16

Jenny why do you want to lose wait before if you are able to conceive?

Lykke1000 · 14/04/2016 12:25

I'm on cd28 myself and ovia told me to test today and I got a BFN. Sad probably no luck this month then Sad

chelle792 · 14/04/2016 14:08

Ah starmist I know how you feel worrying about putting pressure on! DH was really reluctant to ttc after a had a mmc in the summer. This week he finally decided he was ready but we have only dtd once this week so far and I'm due to ovulate Saturday. Plenty of time still but I can still feel his reluctance - although he says he is just tired so I don't know!

jennymac31 · 14/04/2016 14:35

Lykke1000 - I have quite a high bmi & am overweight. My pregnancy with dd was deemed high risk so chances are my next one will be as well! I'm also 36 now so think the more weight I can lose the better chance I have of conceiving.
