Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

TheresaMarie55 · 23/05/2016 19:28

So lovely to see the bfps nj, wispa and twocats!

Cycle day 24 for me. No idea if I'm pregnant or not. No tests in the house so no temptation. Will be testing on the 28th as I'll be late of I'm not on by then x

wispaxmas · 23/05/2016 19:34

Fingers crossed for you Theresa, I've got my coil out tomorrow and then it's down to business!

Readytosettle · 23/05/2016 21:10

So I've been lurking for a while....great to see so many bfp's coming through this week! I'm ttc #2 and currently CD28. It's my first proper cycle since quitting the pill so no idea how long it is. I had pretty clear ov symptoms before my AF but didn't notice them this time.

Not really sure when to test as I've got no real reference point on cycle length. Thought I'd come on for a bit of handholding.

TryingToStayRational · 23/05/2016 22:48

Congrats NJ, wispa and twocats, plus anyone else I've missed! I've been staying off here for a bit as I needed to chill and not overthink. This cycle I haven't been temping, I've just used a fertility monitor that I got second hand from eBay and I found that really easy and way less stressful than temping for me. I probably also just settled into the whole ttc thing and finally realised what I knew in my brain logically which is that I need to get this back in perspective and enjoy life whilst ttc rather than make my life too much about it. So I'm feeling really happy and enjoying normal stuff lots. Etd around 4th June but trying to wait for late AF if I can (but won't beat myself up if I can't).

Peace and love and happy thoughts to all ttc-ers. It's a tough old game so go easy on yourselves. Hope you get BFPs soon but also have a blimmin good giggle and see some sunshine at least once this week! X

twocatsandatoddler · 24/05/2016 06:37

Just tested again with FMU and I am definitely not imagining things!

I can let myself get excited now - I know a line is a line but it's nice to confirm it with a stronger one. I really thought I was pregnant last week as I had so many symptoms but then all the BFNs threw me and by the end of the weekend DH and I had convinced ourselves I wasn't so now I'm struggling to get my head around the fact I am!

SunnyDays1987 · 24/05/2016 06:50

Yeah no mistaking that line at all twocats! Do you think you maybe ovulated slightly later than you thought? Yeah I bet it's strange imaging being pregnant again. Congratulations though, nice that we got some BFPs this month anyway!

twocatsandatoddler · 24/05/2016 07:22

Yeah I must have done, or implantation happened later than I thought. Last time I got a line this strong the day before AF, just goes to show every pregnancy is different.

marmitetoast1 · 24/05/2016 08:14

That's fantastic, congrats for definite then twocats!!!

Still no sign of the biatch for me. CD 34. DH convicted me to test with fmu this morning, bfn - as expected but frustrated!

We watched The Great Sperm Race for a bit of education last night!

Hope everyone else waiting for test/AF is hanging on in there. At least the sun is shining today!

wispaxmas · 24/05/2016 08:34

What's the great sperm race?? Can I get it on catch up?

Twocats, definitely a line there, I'd say your probably right about later implantation- eggs can hang around in the uterus for several days before finally implanting, up to 12dpo!!

I think it was on channel 4 a few years ago, it's available online. It's on YouTube in 4 parts and also on a few other websites. Just a really insightful look at what actually happens from ejaculation through the whole journey to implantation. its even harder for them than I realised!! It's a good watch. Plus, they upscale the whole thing to human size so have loads of actors dressed in white playing 'sperm' running around which is pretty amusing.
Imagine putting that on your acting CV Grin

wispaxmas · 24/05/2016 08:47

No way ShockGrinGrinGrin

Right, I know what I'm looking up when DD goes down for her nap.

OP posts:
marmitetoast1 · 24/05/2016 08:53

Ha, let me know what you think wispa!
The 'sperm' running around in the 'mountains of the vagina' cracked me up the most. We felt a bit like we were in sex ed at school sniggering away. The 'sperm heaven' sunbathing in a dingy on the sea as the Fallopian tube was also pretty great. As were the deaths squad attackers in the uterus...!

Readytosettle · 24/05/2016 10:08

So now I'm CD29, keep imagining I can feel my period then going to the loo & finding nothing....I know I need to hold off testing but it's difficult to ignore. What's the latest CD a 'regular tester' has got a BFP? Need to set myself a target date to aim for I think....

twocatsandatoddler · 24/05/2016 10:33

Ready, I didn't get a BFP until cd29 (I have quite a short cycle so that was 2 days after AF should have arrived) and that was with a super-sensitive FRER.

AlexiaB · 24/05/2016 10:36

Hi readytosettle, I'm also on cd 29! However my last cycle was 35 days so I'm not going to test any sooner than the 31st when AF is due. How long was your last cycle?

wispa & twocats did you have any pregnancy symptoms? I'm particularly interested if you saw a change in cm. Thanks in advance!

Poshpiggy123 · 24/05/2016 11:10

Hey guys!

After I was convinced last week I might be pregnant (was late, had nausea++ and hypersensitivity to smells) of course AF came the next day! In a way I'm glad because my mindset was all over the place last month.

I'm feeling really positive about TTC #1 this summer, and although I'm overweight I am not going to beat myself up about it - is better to just be the healthiest I can be from today onwards! i'm making better food choices, working out better, cutting down on sugar, taking my supplements (for a medical condition I've been on folic acid for a long time anyway) and just feeling really good about myself and my body! I also downloaded the Ovia app and i think its really great, really simple to use once you put in your data and feel its really going to help me stay on track!

fingers crossed for BFPs this summer!

wispaxmas · 24/05/2016 12:34

alexia, I'm not a symptom spotter at all and only pay any attn to CM when it's unavoidable (like pre-O when you can't help but notice EWCM, grim!), but I had some light pink spotting just once a couple days ago.

OP posts:
Readytosettle · 24/05/2016 15:38

That's the problem Alexia I've only had one AF so no idea on cycle length. I believe I OV'd exactly 14 days before my last AF but it wasn't as obvious this cycle, also with no history I could have irregular cycle lengths for all I know...maybe I should try & hold out til Friday which will be the first morning I'm home alone without a toddler/DH interrupting. That'd be CD32.

Readytosettle · 24/05/2016 15:48

Thanks 2cats that sort of ties into my waiting til Friday thing....must be patient!

neonrainbow · 24/05/2016 15:56

Where do you count to and from to know how long your cycle is?

I tested this morning, bfn as i expected i think im still too early. I feel periody as well so I'm expecting it in the next day or so.

SoozC · 24/05/2016 16:04

neon, the first day of your period is the first day of your cycle, not including any spotting before af.
