Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

Sorry af came Jenny, and that you got a bfn dynia.

Still no af here, I'm testing again on Saturday. I am still feeling sick quite a bit and off food sometimes but I've stopped thinking its a sign I'm pregnant and just expecting af to start at some point.

SophieBear13 · 16/05/2016 14:08

Dynia- sorry to hear that but until AF turns up there's still hope!! Keeping fX and good luck on the diss!

SoozC that still sounds very promising! Not long to wait now.

sparkle- hope your nausea gets better but also that it doesn't because that sounds like a really positive sign. FX for you also.

What do you all use to chart app wise if anything? I started off with clue which I really like but it doesn't really give you any extra info so I so I downloaded Ovia but it's confusing me. I am pretty certain I ovulated on Saturday/Sunday but my chart looks off to me and Fertility friend isn't sure about it either. My cycle is between 22-24 days and I know this because I've been consistently tracking it on Clue since last year and the before then myself. What do you all think looking at the chart? Does it look right to you?

I'm concerned that my fertile window is literally the day after my period but also that fertility friend said the below info.

Looking back at my chart (just on CM, not temping), I may have ovulated quite late so that might explain the delay. We were on holiday beforehand and ended up getting caught in the snow and I was feeling pretty under the weather for a few days so maybe my body decided that I was too irresponsible to make babies right then :)

I use fertilityfriend (the free version) and like it. Ovia seemed quite pesky with the emails and notifications.

SoozC · 16/05/2016 15:39

Sophie, have you put in all the previous data you have re. af days into Ovia and ff? I was using a different app to track af before starting ttc so when I got those apps I inputted all the data I had for the last year. Would help them to be more accurate.

I have both (never got notifications or email from Ovia) but now only use ff as I find it useful with all the analysis. I paid for a year's subscription for £19 last month and I love being able to check out the pregnancy monitor and do in-depth analysis. That's the geek in me!

SophieBear13 · 16/05/2016 15:57

Dynia that makes sense! So you are most definitely still in with a chance! That's good to know- Ovia does email me but I tend to ignore her!

SoozC I have for Ovia and clue but not ff. I'm inclined to trust clue for now because it seems to make the most sense in terms of when it thinks j ovulated. I think I ovulate day after cramps and heavy EWCM and it seems to agree. Oooh what does that entail? I like a good bit of analysis so may be worth it also?

SoozC · 16/05/2016 17:02

Depending when you downloaded ff you may be on a free premium trial for a certain amount of time. If you are, have a play. Lots of fun things to analyse! Grin

jennymac31 · 16/05/2016 17:30

It's good to hear that some of you are using different apps for ttc purposes. I've been using ovia and am not too keen on it (although I've only been inputting my info/stats for the last couple of months). Might give clue or fertility friend go to see if I find them a bit more user friendly.

Told dh about AF's arrival and he was a bit gutted but said we need to just keep trucking on and enjoy doing the baby dance until we get the bfp.

This might sound like a silly question but have any of you given yourselves a deadline to conceive? I'm still hoping to get bfp by July as I would like to have baby no 2 before dd turns 4 next April (mother nature may have other plans however!)

BuffaloCustardbath · 16/05/2016 17:36

Aw I'm sorry AF arrived jenny, it's really tough when you get your hopes up only to be disappointed. Hopefully next month is yours, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sorry about the BFN Dynia, but you're not out till you're out! I was over a week late when I finally got a BFP but like you in hindsight I think I must have ovulated late (the CM signs were there but I ignored them as I thought I'd already OV'd).

Sounds like a good sign Sooz, fingers crossed for you!

BuffaloCustardbath · 16/05/2016 17:41

Thanks for the hugs and Flowers wispa, I'm always surprised by just how many people have experienced at least one loss, it's very sad and it completely changes the experience of being pregnant afterwards, you can't just be excited and start to make plans as you've always got that niggling anxiety that it may all be for nothing - but fingers crossed it won't come to that again.

How are you feeling now, wispa? Hope those anti bs have perked you up a bit.

Sienna9522 · 16/05/2016 17:43

Sorry to all those that got AF or BFN's, I annoyingly but expectedly got AF this morning. On to Cycle 3, hope this is our month!

Jenny I have given myself a deadline of 'before I'm 26' which is in December

Lizziedoll · 16/05/2016 18:08

Hi everyone I'm 29 and ttc my first child. My period is super irregular, I have chronic BV too so I don't think it'll be easy to get pregnant. I'm just having sex with my boyfriend as much as possible and hoping for the best! Good luck everyone :)

AlexiaB · 16/05/2016 18:42

Aw really sorry Jenny and others who got the dreaded AF. It really sucks but try to stay positive for next month (easier said than done I know!) And about deadlines Jenny it's not silly I guess; it's hard not being able to predict the future! My mental deadline has almost passed. I wanted to be pg with #1 before my 5th wed anniversary and my husband's 31st birthday. So it's this month or bust :( I'm testing on Thurs because of a suspected IB.

Congrats to Buffalo on your BFP!

It's not over until AF so fx for you all in the dreaded TWW

SoozC · 16/05/2016 19:02

When I was younger I wanted to be married before I was 30 and have children before I was 35... For one reason or another neither of those things have happened yet and I'm 35 in August. So no, I don't have any 'deadline'; if I'm lucky I'll get pregnant sometime and if I don't after some trying then we'll look at IVF or adoption.

What will happen if you don't get pregnant by the deadline? You'll stop wanting a child? No, you'll extend the deadline again and again because it's what you want. So what's the point in having a deadline? Unnecessary stress.

And I don't mean that to sound harsh to those of you who have deadlines, just offering my thoughts, from someone whose life has not turned out how she thought it would and worries that these things may never happen. Enjoy being young and having these opportunities. Give yourselves a break, please.

dynia · 16/05/2016 19:03

I have a window / deadline which is around academic hiring schedules. I'd like to get babied up between now and late September which would give me a bit of time off between having the baby and starting a new job (if I find one, academia is rough). Not sure what we will do if we get to September. I wouldn't want to start a new job with a newborn or pregnant, particularly as it is likely to be a short term (2 year post). At 31 and with a chronic but stable health condition, I'm hesitant to wait ages.

SoozC · 16/05/2016 19:07

Anyway, I am sorry for the rant, just disappointed in my life sometimes! Sad

Fx for you all who haven't been hit by the witch yet! I've had very few symptoms today so fully expecting af, just looking out for the spring to signal its arrival. My cycle is anywhere from 29-31 days so will have to wait until Sunday to see if I'm late which is a lifetime away right now!

SoozC · 16/05/2016 19:09

*spotting not spring!

SoozC · 16/05/2016 19:14

(Am going to put 'emotional' down as a symptom! Lol)

sparkle789 · 16/05/2016 19:23

I'm giving it until October and then dh and I are going to decide if we want to carry on ttc. I don't want want a bigger gap than 4years between dd2 and baby and October would be a 4year gap. I've already got a big gap between dd1 & 2 (6.5yrs).

AlexiaB · 16/05/2016 19:24

SoozC I understand where you're coming from! I know it's added pressure but I made a mental deadline because it wasn't happening as quickly as I'd hoped. Obviously I'm going to continue trying but I'm a massive over thinker as it is. My next deadline is at least have a baby when I'm 27 like my mum did. It's just my hopes/thoughts. Really sorry it hasn't happened like you planned hun, sending you good vibes and baby dust xoxo

jennymac31 · 16/05/2016 19:29

'Deadline' was probably the wrong word to use but was just curious as to what others had planned in respect of ttc.

I know that it's unlikely I'll conceive by July given that it took 6 months to conceive with dd and I'm now 36 and a lot heavier than I was 4 years ago but I live in hope.

jennymac31 · 16/05/2016 19:38

Soozc - totally get what you're saying and sorry things haven't panned out for you as planned.

Sparkle789 - think I'll be having the same chat with dh in October if we haven't conceived by then, especially as I'd probably be discussing ttc with doctors (as would have been 6 months trying and I understand that if your over 35 you should see a doctor by this time to discuss further).

wispaxmas · 16/05/2016 19:58

jenny, I don't have a deadline, really.. But I will take a break if we don't get lucky by August - I don't want to risk another June baby since we have so many things then. Within 4 weeks we have my birthday, both PsIL's birthdays, DH's birthday, DD's birthday, and our wedding anniversary. So if we aren't pregnant by August we will wait until October/November to try again.

Thanks, buffalo, picked up the ABs this afternoon and am already feeling much better!

Sooz, I missed my marriage and babies deadlines, too - FB memories reminded me that a decade ago I was under the impression that I'd be having kids by 27-28 years old!!

Poshpiggy123 · 16/05/2016 20:44

HI Guys
Not sure what to think... could i be pregnant!?
we DTD last month a day or two before i thought my fertile window was, and then we thought to take a break from it after I got really obsessed about thinking i'd missed the fertile window.

My cycle is usually 32-35 days but last few months it has been exactly 1 month
first day of my last period was 15th April. I did 2 tests yday but both were negative.
however I had a strange brownish discharge once off (?implantation bleed) and I've been feeling really nauseous and really sensitive to smells (this never happens to me) my boobs are so heavy and sore, and i've been very tired having naps but thinking its due to starting a new job and longer commute.

i'm so confused because both tests were negative, and i thought i had missed my fertile window (though looking back i did get EWCM 4 Days after we DTD...)

what should i do? i don't want to get my hopes up I'm so new to all of this!

AlexiaB · 16/05/2016 21:00

Hi poshpiggy, there's a chance you might be pregnant but so many times I've been in a similar situation and then got my period so I don't want to get your hopes up. Take ankther test in a couple days :) it's just a waiting game so try not to over think it. Good luck!
