Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

This is going to sound like a daft question but what is the best unit measure to test for pregnancy? 10mlu or 25mlu. I'm pretty sure the test I took today was 10mlu (superdrug early detection pregnancy test).

wispaxmas · 13/05/2016 22:52

The lower the better because early days your hcg will be really low - starting below 5 and doubling every 2-3 days after implantation, which happens between 6-12 dpo.

Tested today and it was another bfn. I'm honestly not sure what's going on, I feel so sick, and my boobs are really sore which are always my first pg symptoms. I was
Convinced I was pregnant. I think I'm going to leave it a week of I can and test again if no af.

SunnyDays1987 · 14/05/2016 07:53

Might it just be a longer cycle whilst you're adjusting off the pill sparkle?

SoozC · 14/05/2016 08:09

sparkle I've heard some people don't get a bfp until af is seriously overdue. Sorry it's stressing you out, I hope you get an answer one way or the other soon, but fx it's a bfp!

jennymac31 · 14/05/2016 08:22

Soozc - that's why I'm gonna take another test next week if AF doesn't arrive. When I feel pregnant with dd I had waited a week or so after Af was due to arrive before testing. I just couldn't wait this time around.

Fx for bfp's for everyone over the next few weeks!

SoozC · 14/05/2016 09:15

It's hard, isn't it jenny, to wait! I'm only 8dpo and wondering how I'm going to wait another week. My abdomen feels so different to normal, has done for a few days, that if (when) I get af I will be seriously wondering what my body was up to! Fx for you next week, jenny. I'm testing next sat earliest, what about you?

SoozC · 14/05/2016 09:19

Badger, I'm 34, nearly 35, like you ttc #1, cycle #4. I've just about got to grips with all the slang on here, took me a lot of googling to figure some of it out! Welcome :)

neonrainbow · 14/05/2016 09:44

Can i join in? Im late to the party i know!

Age 30 ttc number 1, first time trying last night as it was ovulation day.

To be honest i was so scared taking the plunge... Like i was standing over a big red button and getting ready to detonate life as i know it. I got a bit emotional last night after dtd because I've been thinking and thinking about it for months and I don't have that massive broody urge that everyone talks about but i think i want 2 by age 35 so ultimately i just need to crack on. I thought I'd best just get on with it and break the seal so to speak so hopefully it can stop being such a big deal. If i think about having a baby i get massively overwhelmed . if i think about having unprotected sex its much easier to deal with. I've been tracking my cycle for a few months mainly because i felt like i should know what my body was doing and so i would know when AF was due and I've been taking vitamins and folic acid for about 5 months until i felt more ready. Dh is over the moon that I've finally agreed to ttc. So i wouldnt say im relaxed about it to be honest but im going to try not to obsess about it.

SoozC · 14/05/2016 09:47

I understand your fear, neon! I like that we're now ttc but ultimately wondering what on earth I'm doing! It's a massive upheaval, so understandable that people feel overwhelmed by it all. Welcome and fx!

jennymac31 · 14/05/2016 09:59

Soozc - i'm planning on testing again towards the latter part of next week but there's a chance I might find out sooner, as I need to see doctors again to review my infection so will no doubt have to give another urine sample.

neonrainbow · 14/05/2016 10:04

Im glad someone else is feeling it too sooz!

Eva30 · 14/05/2016 11:06

Hey all, update from me, I'm 12dpo, Test neg this morning. No sign of AF yet. Does anyone take vitamins? I'm taking pregnacare pre-conception but might just switch to folic acid on its own as they're expensive.

twocatsandatoddler · 14/05/2016 11:26

Hopefully it's just too early eva. I'm just talking folic acid at the moment as it's cheaper but I have some pregnancy vitamins left over from last time so will switch to those when I know I'm pregnant for definite. I think it's fine to just take folic acid and vitamin D separately though.

I'm feeling a lot of AF type cramps today and I think I'm 7-8 dpo so timing is about right for implantation. I don't remember cramps being this painful last time but I had an EMCS with DS so I guess the scar could affect things. Or it could all be in my head!

SunnyDays1987 · 14/05/2016 11:45

I'm just taking folic acid and will definitely take at least vitamin d when I get pregnant. I took seven seas trying for a baby last time and started taking them this time too but they seem to mess up so cycle so I stopped.

7/8dpo is when I definitely started with symptoms last time twocats!! Hope it all real stuff haha!

SoozC · 14/05/2016 12:34

I take conception vitamins but they do make me spot before af which concerned me the first couple of months! Might switch to folic and vitamin d only if I don't conceive this cycle.

I just went into Boots to buy batteries and came out with 5 hpt strips and a two-pack of CB digi... Blush

cheesemumma · 14/05/2016 12:45

Ugh af arrived today 2 days early. I hate that bitch. Party tonight then on to cycle 6 I think

wispaxmas · 14/05/2016 13:20

Hi everyone,

DH and I DTD yesterday and the day before- being on honeymoon has had a very positive effect on our enthusiasm! According to Clue I'm due to ovulate tomorrow. If we feel in the mood we may DTD again this eve after a cocktail or two as there's an event on tonight. Felt very cramps yesterday which is what I usually feel when I ovulate and had a bit of Bach ache too so not sure if I ovulated early. If not, do you think the two days and three days before ovulation will be enough? As this is our first cycle I know it's unlikely to happen. I'm not tracking my temperature or anything but have been tracking my cycles for the last year.

SophieBear13 · 14/05/2016 13:43

Sorry for spelling mistakes- on my phone!

SoozC · 14/05/2016 14:00

Sorry to hear it cheese.

Sophie, sperm can live up to five days so 2-3 days before ovulation sounds fine to me!

SophieBear13 · 14/05/2016 14:20

Thanks SoozC! Still having mild crampy feeling today. Haven't had EWCM this cycle but have had the watery, stretchy stuff which is meant to be good for the swimmers also so we will see! I know my DH wouldn't mind if it didn't happen this cycle as he's a lot more chilled than me! We shall see!

Sienna9522 · 14/05/2016 14:24

Sorry to hear that cheese, I'm still awaiting AF wish it would hurry up and show an appearance so we can crack on with the next cycle Sad

SunnyDays1987 · 14/05/2016 14:30

Sorry cheese, hope you have better luck next cycle.

Sophie the watery stretchy stuff is EWCM!

wispaxmas · 14/05/2016 14:33

What sunny said, sophie, the watery stretchy stuff IS EWCM! FX, you're definitely in with a chance, but just go enjoy your honeymoon now, congratulations Grin
