Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

In other news I am DEFINITELY convinced I'm not pregnant because I didn't have a temp rise this morning confirming ovulation, which means it's probably happening today whilst H is in Paris and we haven't DTD in a couple days. Whoops, oh well!

They say sperm can last for up to 5 days though don't they maybe you are in with a chance?! Or is this part of your plot not to obsess in the TWW?!

wispaxmas · 12/05/2016 17:32

Part of the plot, at least partially! I know it only takes once, but this is a handy thing to fixate on to say I doubt I'm pregnant. Chances are we will never manage to DTD more than twice in a fertile week and we works away almost every week, so it's bound to happen again. At some point I'm sure everything will fall into place, though!

Yeah I have a friend whose husband is away mon-fri and she got pregnant first cycle with her first and second cycle with her second (but j suspect she might have had a v early mc on that first cycle) so it definitely can be done! And she doesn't track OV or anything!

How long did it take to conceive your DD?

wispaxmas · 12/05/2016 20:33

4 cycles, so not very long in the grand scheme of things. Two months without tracking anything aside from my period, then one just trying OPKs, then the 4th I temped and did SMEP - the whole shebang Grin. I think a part of me is hoping that we won't catch for a couple cycles as DH wanted a shorter age gap than I do (I always said 3 years minimum and DD is only 2 on June 10th!).. But I'm really getting into the TTC mindset now that we've started properly. I just want to keep like 3yrs age gap thing in the back of my mind because I do think it'll take us a few cycles and I don't want to be disappointed.

Hi all, just popping in as I've not been on for a while. So happy to see the lovely bfps! So, after the two periods in the space of four weeks thing I'm thinking my body is back to normal. Not really going off anything other than how I'm feeling but feel 'right'. I think I'm in my fertile window, again, just a feeling but pretty sure I am. We've been dtd almost every other day (was two days between once) so feel happy enough that even if we don't dtd when I ovulate we're doing it enough lol. Harder when there's other little ones in the house! Also don't want to make dtd seem at all like a chore. Hubby isn't really one for a quicky and would rather not know when I'm.ovulating so just been spicing things up.in general! X

TheresaMarie55 · 12/05/2016 22:36

Ooh, also I'm gonna test on 28th. If AF hasn't shown up by then I'm definitely late so will just have to see! Quite busy this month and next so am actually feeling quite chilled now. The refraining from google has also helped loads haha

SoozC · 13/05/2016 07:42

Sorry you've been sad Dynia and sorry af got you verticordia. Hope you both feel better soon.

I'm 7dpo today. Symptom spotting like crazy BUT refusing to get my hopes up. I'm taking more of a clinical interest in how my body feels if that makes sense. Although the pressure in my lower abdomen for the past day is a difficult one to ignore! Defo not testing until af due. I hate seeing a BFN. Fx for those still waiting! Can't wait to see some bfps, keeps the spirits up to know it is happening to people out there! :)

Eva30 · 13/05/2016 08:07

Symptom spotting is seriously addictive! I'm 11dpo but my basal body temp has started to drop so I think AF is on its way. If so I wish it would hurry up so I can get cracking with the next cycle! AF due Sun/Mon but I'm not going to test until at least Weds if still no AF because I've done 3 tests recently all neg and I need to take a break, DH says I've got a peeing on a stick addiction Grin

jennymac31 · 13/05/2016 08:15

Been feeling emotional and a bit overwhelmed this week. Dizzy spells, backache etc had disappeared for a couple of days (probably the antibiotics kicking in) but they seem to be back this morning. Really resisting the urge to take an early test as don't want to see bfn. Af due on Sunday so may take a test on Monday.

Eva30 · 13/05/2016 08:35

Hopefully we'll see some BFPs by next week :) sparkle, sunnydays & twocats have you tested, how are you getting on?

jennymac31 · 13/05/2016 09:18

I cracked under pressure and took a test. Got BFN and cramps are starting to get worse so think AF might be on its way. If not here by Monday than I'll test again.

Badgertastic · 13/05/2016 10:12

Hi ladies.

I've been browsing through mumsnet the last few days having decided with DH to TTC and DTD. I've been in ovulation stage, I think the last few days, and we have DTD to see what happens.

I have to confess all the acronyms scared me to the edge and back when I first started reading the site! I had to google it to find out what half of them meant. I didn't realise there was so much to this baby making. I've spent so long trying not to get pregnant that now we are trying it feels quite scary.

I've downloaded Ovia to see if that helps. I previously used period tracker light but Ovia seems to have more information about trying to get pregnant than just tracking the cycle.

Hopefully we will all get our BFPs very soon.

I'm 36 (37 next month)
TTC Baby #1
Cycle 1 this week

I saw somewhere that there was a recommendation for ovulation sticks from Amazon but for the life of me I can't find the thread it was on which contained the link. Does anyone have a 'favourite' type from Amazon?

Smile
Eva30 · 13/05/2016 10:19

Hey Badger. I had to google them all too! I ordered 20 X One Step highly sensitive ovulation tests for £2.95. I'd also get some cheapie preg tests while you're there as you'll soon be a test addict too Wink I'm 29, ttc#1, just coming to the end of cycle 1.

twocatsandatoddler · 13/05/2016 14:38

eva no, not tested yet. AF isn't due until next Saturday and last time I tested too early and it was a waste of time so I'm going to try and hold off until next Friday which is about when I got BFP last time.
I'm trying not to read too much into symptoms but I do have slightly sore boobs and am exhausted, which could be nothing or could be early signs of pregnancy! Who knows!

I remember the 2ww dragging on last time but it's been almost a week already and it's flown by - I think juggling work with looking after a 17mo is a good distraction!

SunnyDays1987 · 13/05/2016 15:23

I won't be testing until about a week on Monday or Tuesday. AF due any time from next Friday-Monday ish. I don't want to do inconclusive tests! Last time I tested at 15DPO and had a massive BFP within seconds so I want that again when my time comes!

I have convinced myself of a few symptoms too twocats but I'm probably deluding myself! It's definitely going quicker in general this time round but still wish it would go a bit faster!

wispaxmas · 13/05/2016 16:11

Toddlers are definitely a good distraction!

sunny, I'm going to test around the same time... But it'll be early for me since AF isn't due until that Tuesday. So I will be using Internet cheapies so I don't care if it's too early and I get a bfn and waste a test.

OP posts:
SunnyDays1987 · 13/05/2016 16:31

How sensitive are the cheap ones? I have a pack of 2 FRERs so will just crack one of those out if AF doesn't arrive!

wispaxmas · 13/05/2016 18:17

They are apparently 10 mlu or whatever the unit of measure is.. If I remember correctly from last time around they aren't as reliable or sensitive as FRER, really.. I've got 4 FRERs, but in reticent to break them out first cycle trying Wink

OP posts:
SunnyDays1987 · 13/05/2016 18:29

FRERs are 10 whatever too though aren't they?! I did a FRER at 15dpo and then a tesco one and an IC at 17dpo and the IC was the lightest of them all!

Haha yeah if I was playing that game I'd 'confirm' a line on an IC with a FRER!

twocatsandatoddler · 13/05/2016 18:33

I think the Superdrug own brand ones are the same sensitivity as FRER but a fraction of the cost. That's what I used last time and they worked for me before AF was due.

SunnyDays1987 · 13/05/2016 18:44

Yeah I've seen quite a few people use those, how much are they?

sparkle789 · 13/05/2016 20:23

Sorry you got a bfn Jenny.

Eva I'm either testing tomorrow or Sunday. I'm a bit scared to test I really don't want to see a negative.

I've got the cheap tesco ones (2 for £3.50) does anyone know how sensitive they are?

SunnyDays1987 · 13/05/2016 20:57

Ooh good luck sparkle! I think they are 25 whatever the measurement is. But I did a tesco and an IC on the same day and the tesco was darker! I'm sure the IC was an early test one too. Let us know how you get on!

wispaxmas · 13/05/2016 21:07

sparkle, they should say on the info sheet or back of the box how sensitive they are!
