Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

Of course DH came home from work with two CB digitals last night so I did one at 7pm and it was BFN Sad unless AF arrives before I'm going to try and leave it a couple of days and try again first thing in the morning. This is driving me crazy!!

TryingToStayRational · 05/05/2016 10:49

I've reached the crazy stage. 10dpo and I'm a symptom-spotting, temperature-chart obsessing mess. Woke up early this morning with AF-like pains and as I'm on CD28 (normally 27 day cycles) assumed the witch was here. But she isn't. Temp hasn't dropped. And the pains have stopped. All very weird. Think my body is teasing me so am determined not to test for at least another two days. Gahhhhhhhh I hate the tww! Angry

Ah, I feel slightly better for that! Solidarity to all in the tww, hope you manage to hold on to sanity better than me! I know I need to just chill out and stop being ridiculous but somehow I don't seem able to today. I blame hormones! Angry Bird

verticordia · 05/05/2016 11:26

Hello folks, I'm new

27, TTC #1, cycle 1. My cycle is irregular as hell so I'm never entirely sure when my period is due so I'm just trying not to stress.

sparkle789 · 05/05/2016 12:04

I'm also in the tww. On cd 22. This is my first month off the pill, so I'm not sure of my cycle. I'm basing it on a normal 28day one so will test in a week getting nervous now, and I'm been dreaming about being pregnant and taking the test a lot

SunnyDays1987 · 05/05/2016 12:18

TWW is hell! Just got to try and keep distracted and make the days go as fast as possible I guess! Hope to see some BFPs soon. CD17 for me here so in the FW now I think.

Welcome to the new people and sorry for any BFNs!

jennymac31 · 05/05/2016 14:44

Afternoon ladies.

Am definitely not feeling as relaxed with TTC as I had been before but have stopped myself from doing temperature charts etc, as I think it would stress me out even more! I'm trying my hardest not to symptom-spot but have not been feeling 100% (dizzy spells, funny feelings in tummy, bloated/windy). I'm 20dpo but I know it's way too soon to even consider doing a test (wasn't planning on doing test until my AF is a week overdue).

SunnyDays1987 · 05/05/2016 14:46

20dpo?!

jennymac31 · 05/05/2016 15:08

Am 20 days into my cycle SunnyDays1987.

SunnyDays1987 · 05/05/2016 16:12

Ah dpo means days past ovulation! You're cd20 (cycle day)! I was thinking 20 dpo is more than late enough to test! What day do you think you ovulated?

jennymac31 · 05/05/2016 17:34

Sunnydays1987 - I thought I had ovulated a week ago but now I'm not so sure, as ovio has updated my stats recently. Maybe I need to start doing the temping etc but my husband is reluctant for us to go down that route, as he knows that it would stress me out even more & make me even more anxious.

SunnyDays1987 · 05/05/2016 18:45

What does Ovia base the OV date on?

jennymac31 · 05/05/2016 19:04

Changes in CF, symptoms etc. To be honest I'm not sure if I'm inputting the right information on ovio for it to produce an accurate ovulation date. I didn't use ovio when I was the for dd but I thought it would help 2nd time round.

twocatsandatoddler · 05/05/2016 20:22

CD12 for me and I have a 27 day cycle so think the next few days are key for me this month! So hard not to get my hopes up - last time I was pretty sure I was pregnant as early as about 4 dpo because my boobs were sore, and by the time the 2ww was over I pretty much knew I was pregnant as I felt so different so i know I'll be symptom spotting like crazy this time round and be really disappointed if it doesn't happen this month.

happysunshineandrainbows · 05/05/2016 20:38

I think my fertile window is Monday to Friday...I'm currently really pissed off with hubby over weekend away we were going to book but since he never pulled his finger out I've given up on it. Feeling pretty fed up today so I'm glad I don't have to try and get him into bed Sad good luck to everyone DTD tonight though Smile

wispaxmas · 05/05/2016 21:10

Great update, Dynia, sounds like you're really in with a chance this cycle.

buffalo, CBD aren't the most sensitive of tests even when you've held your wee in for a while before testing, so FX you're still in with a chance.

trying, fight the craziness and distract yourself for a while - but good luck when you do test.

Hiya verticordia, welcome, I hope you manage to stay relaxed Grin

Jenny, I've never used that app, but as you're not temping I'd stick with saying ovulation is around when you have fertile CM - if you know how to spot it. Sadly I learned it all last time around and can never forget. I don't know why an app without charting temp would move your O date around..

Get on it, twocats, Netflix and chill and all that, hah.

Right, as for me - fertile week should be next week based on previous cycles. DH has managed to postpone his work in Paris until Thursday/Friday, which means we are back in with a chance! I tend to O on CD15, which is next Thursday, so we'll see if we manage to DTD in the days before... I have a feeling that if we do hit the window more than once I will get my hopes up and be an early tester and if only once I will be able to assume we haven't caught this cycle. I really don't want to become a gibberish mess in my first TWW. At least I'm managing to be relaxed about DTD and not putting pressure on DH like I did last time. The one time he got performance anxiety was the day I ovulated when we got pregnant with DD and I remember feeling so guilty for the way I'd made him feel.

So we have done it, gotten over the hump Wink
Not worth making a fuss for, as you predictably told me, and I realistically knew in my head. I'm just glad we can get into the game and I'm not 'broken' over it.
And thanks for listening to my rambling! We have spoke about it and can be completely frank about, but sometimes you need a stranger to tell you you are not completely absurd!

I imagine the 2ww is hell, I never really considered it all much first time round. This time I'm quite interested in learning more about my own body.
Good luck to those waiting to test, hope it doesn't drag too much!

I'm on CD 13, I'm under no illusion that it's unlikely I'll get pregnant this month, but it's all part of the process, and I am loving hearing your stories and experiences

SoozC · 05/05/2016 23:34

I had a +opk today so fx for this cycle. But trying not to think of it too much. I met a friend's two-week-old baby today and thought I'd be down afterwards but actually it made me excited and hopeful. I am really looking forward to the day I have my own, if it ever happens.

BippityBoppityBullshit · 06/05/2016 10:13

Can i join?

Supposedly relaxed trying for dc2. Our grand life plan had us ttc next year, but as i run my own business and to be able to take mat leave would ideally have a jan/feb/march baby, and knowing it took 6 months to conceive dc1 we though we would 'see what happens' for the next 3 months.

As a result i can't actually remember when my last period started, so based on my 28 day cycle (i'm normally 27/28 days) my period is due today or tomorrow. Last time my first symptom was sore nipples but as i'm still bf that symptom is unreliable to say the least.

Should i test today? (i have a cheapie in the cupboard from last time).

sparkle789 · 06/05/2016 12:50

Hi bippity.

I'm not symptom spotting I've had period like pains on and off yesterday and today, so expecting af to start but it hasn't. But then today I felt really nauseous so think ohh maybe I am. Very confused and now stressing.

TryingToStayRational · 06/05/2016 13:09

I'm feeling the same, sparkle - V frustrating! I wish AF would make up her mind rather than teasing me! Fx for you, hang in there X

Bippity it sounds like you could test but depends on whether you can handle an uncertain result I spose. I've been trying to wait til AF late but cracked this morning and got BFN so now back in limbo land. Hope you soon know one way or another!

jennymac31 · 06/05/2016 16:29

I'm having the same issue - sparkle & tryingtostayrational.

I've been having dizzy spells, stomach cramps, back pain etc but I'm pretty sure that it's probably ovulation symptoms as opposed to pregnancy ones. Dh's been asking if I'm going to take a test but I'm sure I'll get bfn.

jennymac31 · 06/05/2016 16:42

When is the best time to take a pregnancy test? Apologies for the daft question.

wispaxmas · 06/05/2016 20:41

jenny, first morning urine is the usual, but anytime after holding it for a while and not drinking loads to dilute it would be fine. Or just waiting until 14dpo when basically any time of day would register a positive for most people.

wispaxmas · 06/05/2016 20:50

bippity, I properly lolled at your username GrinGrinGrin. As for when to test, I can't help you there, I'd have tested already probably.. But then I don't mind getting a BFN as I would just plan to test again in a couple days if no AF.
