Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

Hi all, please may I join this thread? We have been "not preventing" for 6 months but haven't got a BFP yet. I have a 3.5 year old and he kept saying he wants a baby brother / sister. I reckon I'm about 12 dpo today (my guess, didn't go any temping / ovulation test). Tested yesterday with a early test from superdrugs but got a BFN. Will test again tmr and hoping for the best. This 2ww is so difficult as I've been thinking about testing since 7 dpo.

Fingers crossed for everyone hoping to get a BFP xx

SunnyDays1987 · 24/04/2016 09:32

Hi everyone. Definitely agree with the lack of symptom spotting. My other learned lesson is if you get a BFN, you're not pregnant (unless you're testing way too early, in which case STEP AWAY FROM THE TESTS!!) I had a cycle with DS where I was convinced I was pregnant and when I got a BFN I read so many threads of women who's friend, sister, aunty etc etc didn't get a BFP at all and had to go to the Drs for a blood test. No help whatsoever and if that does happen to someone it's probably very very insanely rare. It's just another way to build up hope and inevitably increase the heart ache when AF arrives late. I learned very quickly after that and didn't test until AF was 5 days late with my DS (I knew I was definitely late too because I was temping). Even then I was shitting myself about doing it.

TTC is bloody crap but hopefully we can all keep each other sane and with our feet firmly on the ground!

Fingerscrossedxx · 24/04/2016 10:03

Yes I know I should have waited abit longer before testing but it's easier said than done Blush also came across this website www.countdowntopregnancy.com/tools/pregnancy_test_calculator.php
and positive results are "common" even quite early on so couldn't resist the temptation especially you see those products that claim to work 4 days before AF is due (although I know it's better to wait until AF is due or even late) Blush

jennymac31 · 24/04/2016 12:01

Morning ladies. Hope you're all well.
Am feeling quite pants today.
Sunnydays1987 - you're right about TTC. It is quite crap!
Feeling guilty about not being motivated to lose weight. I know it will be so beneficial to lose weight in order to conceive and have a healthier/low risk pregnancy but frankly I just want to get knocked up asap. Also feel crap as I know dh would prefer me to lose weight before getting pregnant, although he's been happy to DTD recently.

SunnyDays1987 · 24/04/2016 12:06

Fingers sorry that really wasn't aimed directly at you at all! People definitely do get squinty BFPs at like 9dpo etc and I do get why people can't wait to find out. I just think the negatives outweigh the positives either way! You could get a positive but AF could still come. Or you could get a BFN and then actually be pregnant so you've got upset for nothing or tell yourself you might still be and then AF could still come. I personally don't want to be overanalysing squinters. So many threads on here where people share them and it looks like there might be a chance but then AF comes. It's just not for me. But for some people it's what they want to do. So no judgement if that's what anyone wants to do!! I'm sure it's half of the thrill of TTC for some people!

SunnyDays1987 · 24/04/2016 12:07

Sorry you're feeling crap Jenny. Have you got much to lose? Sorry if you've already said.

jennymac31 · 24/04/2016 12:17

Sunnydays1987 - I had aimed to lose 2 stone but probably need to lose more than that (am a fairly big girl). Have lost 1/2 a stone to date so I still have a long way to go. I know I need to just get on and do it but I've lost all motivation.

SunnyDays1987 · 24/04/2016 13:49

Have you tried slimming world and stuff like that?

Fingerscrossedxx · 24/04/2016 13:58

Sunnydays - no worries I wasn't taking it personally, and we all know that we tests are more accurate after the af due date! (Just that it's hard to resist sometimes...)

Jenny - good luck with weight loss!

happysunshineandrainbows · 24/04/2016 14:07

Well I think I was due on today (I think my cycle is around 25 days) but got a BFN when I tested this morning. I'm going to try again on Wednesday morning (assuming a 28 day cycle) if no son of AF, I'm not sure I've had any symptoms of AF arriving - I'm normally an emotional mess in the build up so hubby knows to have dominos on speed dial and chocolate on tap!!

SunnyDays1987 · 24/04/2016 15:47

Glad you didn't take it personally Fingers, I'm maybe still way too bitter to be on a TTC thread haha!!

Good luck happy!

jennymac31 · 24/04/2016 15:48

Am doing slimming world at the moment and I'm going to keep at it until I hopefully full pregnant, although I do understand that slimming world have a diet plan for pregnant women but you would need to get a midwife to agree/consent to you continuing with slimming world.

wispaxmas · 24/04/2016 17:52

Jenny, I've also lost my motivation for weight loss. I haven't weighed myself in ages, but I've probably stagnated with a BMI of about 29 and really should try to get back to being good and using MFP. Good luck to you and I hope you find a bit of motivation, it might are you feel a bit less crap?

Hello.
DH and I are about to start the ttc journey again.
TTC #2 (DS will be 4 in July)
I'm 30
On CD 2, recently came off the pill so using Ovia to track to learn about my cycle.
With DS I didn't really think about it too much, and DH was only home at weekends, so was fairly easy. Now we've got a couple of months before we move and back to DH only being home at weekends, so would be amazing to get a BFP before that!

twocatsandatoddler · 24/04/2016 19:32

Well AF just arrived, and we decided to TTC in May so looks like this is cycle 1 for me! Have had a 27 day cycle for the two months I've been off the pill which is exactly the same as when I came off last time to conceive DS so hoping that bodes well!

wispaxmas · 24/04/2016 20:50

Yay, two cats, good luck this cycle then!

I'm still awaiting AF, but it should be here on Friday and I am SO ready to get started. Going to be tough trying to get DH to stay home for the fertile week as he usually works away in Paris at least part of the work week. Nice to know I'm not the only one with a DH working abroad!

You are definitely spot on there about symptom spitting wispa, really trying hard took it it out of my mind now :)

What prenatal vitamins are you all taking?

FriendlyGhost · 24/04/2016 21:43

Hello all and welcome loupee. I'm cd14 today so was really hoping to dtd this weekend. Unfortunately dd had other ideas for us and came down with a sick bug which DH has now caught. I've resigned myself to the fact it's not going to happen this month and we can hopefully try in May. So frustrating!
I know what you mean about losing weight Jenny and Wispa. I wanted to get back to my pre baby weight before ttc again but I'm starting to think I can't be bothered to work hard only to put it all back on again. Still got a stone to go and my body just wants to hold onto it!

BuffaloCustardbath · 25/04/2016 07:42

What a shame Ghost, it really is frustrating! I hope they're both feeling better now and you're fighting fit for May.

chelle792 · 25/04/2016 15:32

Hi all, I've disappeared off the thread again! Sorry. I'm finding the tww really hard. It's my first tww since my mc in the summer and it's awful. I'm planning on testing thurs, I think (but need to order more ic's)

I've been getting really bad cramps and an awful taste in my mouth. Having lots of nausea this last two days but that's pretty normal for me in the week running up to AF anyway so not unexpected.

I'll read back the thread when I get home from work just about to start work now! or I might sneakily check in at work

wispaxmas · 25/04/2016 19:32

Ghost, that is SO frustrating. At least this TWW won't be agony, though? Trying to find a silver lining and failing, sorry.

Chelle, I'm sorry you're struggling this TWW - anything that you could do as a distraction? Focus on something else?

OP posts:
ktt512 · 25/04/2016 20:40

Hi everyone,

I've entered the tww and i've already convinced myself that i'm definitely not pregnant. I have one of those cycle tracker app things and it said that I should have ovulated on Friday, however, my CM completely disagreed, so if I go by that, I ovulated either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday - when the CM is clear and stringy, is that when you ovulate or is it the day after that stops (sorry tmi)? By Friday we were back to regular, every day CM, so i'm pretty sure I wouldn't have ovulated then, right?

We dtd Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, so i'm hoping I covered it...? This is my first month actively TTC and I have no idea what i'm doing Confused

So, if I ovulated Tues/Weds, I'd be 5/6DPO today and I feel absolutely no different, no tender breasts, no nausea, no nothing. Is it too early for all that? Am I prematurely psyching myself out? Should I feel no different at this stage if we had managed to conceive this month?

I know the chances are super slim, but I don't think i'm doing too well with the 'relaxed ttc-ing' !

RoseBaby · 25/04/2016 21:04

Hello everyone,

I'd like to join the thread please! Grin

We're not TTC just yet, holding off until June starts. In the meantime I'm having my implant out on Thursday in preparation and we will be using the barrier method until June.

This will be DC #3 for me (DC aged 10 & 5) and DC #1 for DP.

We're getting married after the summer so we've decided to wait to TTC until June just so I'd still fit in my dress should we catch immediately (which would be extremely lucky!)

I've started taking pregnacare conception tablets and bought some ovulation tests to see if I ovulate in May. I like to be prepared Grin

A little apprehensive as caught with both DC on the first month of trying - so I'm not sure how I'll cope with a possible long TTC time period this time round!

chelle792 · 25/04/2016 22:53

Thanks wispa DH is going away tomorrow so it'll be a bit quiet around here this week.

wispaxmas · 26/04/2016 08:19

Chelle, mine left this morning, too! Solidarity!
