Original relaxed thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2537105-relaxed-ttc-feb-march-april-2016

Hi all, thought I would start a new thread before we capped the earlier one. Here's hoping for more laid back BFPs and a bit of OT chat.

Everyone welcome, waiting to try, TTC, not preventing, being hopeful, and trying not to flip the fck out squinting at lines on sticks.

Cycle 1

I have just started trying again after my coil came out on Mon 4th april. Not exactly sure how long my cycle is as I had the mirena coil so made my cycle was really irregular, however I used OPKs and know I had an LH surge yesterday and now it's on it's way down again so DH and I are DTD as much as is possible with a 2 year old around the house who doesn't nap anymore lol! Last time it took 4 months after the pill and then I MC and then got BFP on the 5 month and here we are 2 years later. I hope it will happen a little quicker this time as I had the coil this time. Trying to be relaxed as possble. VERY exciting though. xx

SoozC · 17/04/2016 09:18

Fingers crossed, Bertie!!

SoozC · 17/04/2016 09:20

Fluffy, I think it starts from the first day of your last period. I'm not a midwife though!

cheesemumma · 17/04/2016 09:22

Hi rausten.

thanks fluffy. Not insensitive at all. I'm not really an expert at all as still not a mummy however, I think they always count from last day of last period because no one is exactly sure of when they ovulated. I'll let the others congirm that for you.

oh no not another waiting game bertie. Fx for You. Let us know how you get on x

rausten · 17/04/2016 09:24

Fluffy
The doctor will go by the first day of your last period, for instance with DD1 my last period was at the end of january 2013 and they put my due date on nov 4th, however when yu go for your scan they can pinpoint it a bit more. My cycle was properly weird at that point so when I went I actually found my due date was nov 27th so it really does depend on how regular you were. mine was out cause I was generally irregular lol. hope this helps x

rausten · 17/04/2016 09:27

Now cheese has made me doubt myself but I think it is your first day of period as it counts as the first day of your cycle. Don't quote me on it though lol

rausten · 17/04/2016 09:37

I think I may have to stand corrected. It may be your first period day + 7 days. Obviously I need more practice with this helpful advice stuff lol. Fingers crossed Bertie x

twocatsandatoddler · 17/04/2016 09:37

Definitely first day of last period, but that probably won't be the exact due date unless you have really regular 28 day cycles. If your cycle is more like 5 weeks they'll likely move the due date by a week or so when you have your 12 week scan because they take a few measurements that are a really accurate indicator of due date at that stage.
My cycle is 27-28 days so I had a really good idea of when I ovulated, and they only moved my EDD by a day at my scan compared to my LMP.

FluffyPickleMonster · 17/04/2016 09:41

Thanks Sooz, Cheese and Rausten. I know they date it from the last day of your period but that's based on a 28day cycle and mine is 25days. I know I ovulated on 27th March as I was did an OPK. I'm happy that due date is 18th Dec but it's more I don't understand how to phrase how many weeks I am. I'm looking at the images of 3,4,5 and 6 weeks and I don't know which one I am. I guess I'll have to wait for the midwife! Thanks all Smile

FluffyPickleMonster · 17/04/2016 09:45

Thanks twocats. My cycles were always 28 days before I was on the pill, (pop so no periods when on it) then 25 days after, even had a couple of 19 day cycles. Im not fussed about the due date at the minute, I just don't understand how many weeks I am! Do I have a poppy seed or a sesame seed??? I'll just gave to wait and see Smile

Had coil removed last Thursday and AF is here with a vengeance this morning so this must be cycle 1, day 1!!

Considered doing OPKs but realised wandering round work with a cup of pee and squinting at lines might just verify to my boss that I am, in fact, completely bonkers!!

Glad I've come on today in a way- I've not had a period since I had the coil put in 3 years ago so know this one is the real deal!! Now I just have to remember where I keep my "feminine hygiene" (anyone else hate that term?!) products!!

Looking forward to everyone's BFPs!!!!

SoozC · 17/04/2016 09:57

Ah, Fluffy, looking at pictures, how exciting!! Grin

I was convinced I was preggers yesterday but today I'm thinking not!

SunnyDays1987 · 17/04/2016 10:19

Fluffy they go from the first day of your last period. I had a 35 day cycle when I conceived DS but they base it on a 28 day cycle so I was a week behind what they said I was. I didn't say anything though because it meant I got to have my scan at 11 weeks! But obviously my due date got changed at the scan to what I knew it was.

You're 2 weeks pregnant at ovulation basically, so if you have a 14 day luteal phase then you would be 4 weeks pregnant on the day that AF is due!

I think there's a due date calculator on the NHS website where you can change your cycle length. One minute.....www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/due-date-calculator.aspx

SunnyDays1987 · 17/04/2016 10:20

Welcome to all the new people as well! I'm rushing a bit but will have a proper read through later!

Sienna9522 · 17/04/2016 10:50

Congratulations fluffy Flowers

AF arrived in the night, so onto Cycle 2 for us...

FluffyPickleMonster · 17/04/2016 11:01

Thanks sunny, just tried that link and it confirmed 18th Dec which is what I though but said I'm 5weeks, which is more exciting than 4 and means I have a sesame seed!

Thank you for the congrats sienna, I'll keep everything crossed for you and will include you in my anti AF dance Smile

SunnyDays1987 · 17/04/2016 11:15

Yeah 5 weeks makes sense Fluffy because you tested quite late didn't you and you got the 2-3 weeks on the CB! Woohoo to skipping a week of the first trimester!!

rausten · 17/04/2016 12:59

I am kinda hsving mixed feelings about the whole thing. Half of me hopes I get a BFP this cycle as lets face it that would be amazing! Then the other half hopes it will take a couple of months cause if I catch this time, my birthday is in nov, DD birthday is in dec then christmas and then prospective new babe would be jan. very very expensive Confused

SunnyDays1987 · 17/04/2016 13:45

I know what you mean Rausten I'm kind of hoping to get lucky cycle 2 or 3 because DS is an early Jan bday so cycle 1 would put due date early Feb. However, I obviously don't want the TTC game to go on for too long so I would be very happy with a cycle 1 BFP too!

NJ81 · 17/04/2016 14:21

cheese not tested again yet. Going to wait til middle of this week when I'll be a full week later. Been talking to a colleague today who had 2 negatives before a positive which was 2 wk after missed period so trying to stay positive! Children will be a doddle compared to ttc!

rausten · 17/04/2016 14:33

cheese with my first I didn't have a AF for 7 1/2 weeks before I got a BFP. but I think I'm just weird lol x

rausten · 17/04/2016 14:37

Sorry I meant NJ81

cheesemumma · 17/04/2016 15:17

Nj
a full week late sounds like a good sign
I'm making myself a promise I'm not going to test until im at least a week late. I think me and dh are gonna plan a summer holiday to distract me. I had a sob today but he's good. Calmed down. Fingers crossed for next month. Really hope you get your bfp xxx
