Old thread just about finished. Here is a new one... Fx for lots of well earned BFPs for those ttc over forty. We also welcome stories from those who have successfully had their babies over forty and we love hearing back from our graduates.

beegee re the lp 'defect' I have been told anything under 10 days may impact ability of any embryo to implant. I was given the clomid as I was borderline on the 10 days - oh and my day 21 progesterone was not great at 16. I have heard Angus castus and vit b6 help

Beegee3 · 10/03/2016 22:43

kk I am not sure if I should be talking to my doctor? X

ababsurdum · 11/03/2016 08:03

Beegee it couldn't hurt, might as well cover all the bases. I don't think you need to worry too much though as you're not less than 10 days.

ChewyGiraffe · 11/03/2016 08:22

Hula - you're absolutely right about the endometrial biopsy. Prof Brosens told me exactly that; i.e. that the procedure has the same beneficial effect on encouraging regeneration of the endometrium in future cycles as a scratch would.

Ooh lots more to catch up on, back later x

Beegee3 · 11/03/2016 09:41

Thanks everyone 😊 agnus castus coming today, just going to be extra healthy I guess and see what happens this month x

Beegee3 · 11/03/2016 09:45

Has anyone used maca root? X

Kkmuppet · 11/03/2016 10:29

beegee It's up to you re dr - you're on that borderline and you'll prob find that small changes make a difference. I have read that agnus castus can take 2-3 cycles to kick in by the way so don't set your expectations too high this cycle. But it might be worth going and getting your progesterone checked - 7 days after ovulation.

ababsurdum · 11/03/2016 13:06

I take maca root when I remember (haven't had some for a while). I have the powder that you add to drinks & food. I haven't noticed any problems with it.

Rugby01 · 12/03/2016 16:32

Well I about to ovulate and now the OH has gone and started a massive row with me. Wonderful. I don't want to make up as he's been really rude to me, but on the other hand I need his sperm. Brilliant. This seems to happen every month at O time which isn't helping our chances. Very miserable and hurt.

ababsurdum · 12/03/2016 17:25

Gah Rugby, I'm sorry. Why do you think it's happening every month? I hope you can both sort it out in time.

Cd9 here. We dtd last night and I'll start opk's tomorrow. I decided to (semi) man up and try 25mg of DHEA a day to see how I got on but am now sporting another headache. However, I'm really not sure if it is the DHEA or the Method almond floor cleaner that I used for the first time this afternoon. It's really strong smelling, quite sickly though it seemed to work quite nicely. Not sure I'll be using it again.

Rugby01 · 12/03/2016 17:55

Thanks Ababs. It's so annoying. Maybe it's hormonal or something. But I can't dtd when he's been so horrible to me. That floor cleaner sounds potent! I hope the headache shifts. I guess you'll have to do an experiment to see if you get a headache with DHEA and then floor cleaner independently. Hope the opks come up positive soon!

Hula2 · 13/03/2016 08:46

Oh Rugby I feel your pain ! It s so stressful when you know its a critical time and it seems to get sabotaged. Could you talk to him at another time so he understands how upsetting it is when this happens. Could he be feeling under pressure to perform and finding a way to avoid it because he s struggling with that ? Or is he just being oblivious to the biology that there are only a few days a months you can conceive ? Whatever way its not fair to start a row and must be very frustrating for you. I hope things get resolved in time.

Welldone abs for perserving with the dhea, hope you don t get any more headaches.

Fatty and joey i decided i could nt take anymore and 'give up' at xmas, lasted one month and was more stressful so agreed just nttp and now seem to have got right back to timed sex and considering endometrial biopsy and flushing tubes ! Arrggh seems so hard to step off to the merry go round while at least apparently popping out an egg every month (albiet a probably hard boiled one). !

IAteSomeofthePies · 13/03/2016 09:46

Sorry, Rugby, that is so annoying. When you say it's happening every month, is it really? Could it be linked to performance anxiety/ ttc pressures?

ababs that experiment would be easily run in this household, as floor cleaner makes such an occasional appearance it would be quite an easy variable to isolate! I hope the headache goes away soon.

I know what you mean, hula. It is so hard to do this casually.

I'm on cd2, alas. Onwards and upwards. At least I have the FFC to look forward to after AF takes herself away!

Baby dust and happy Sundays to everyone.

Rugby01 · 13/03/2016 11:25

Thanks Hula. It is so difficult when it all has to be in one or two days isn't it. We managed to discuss it all and I think things are ok now but even the stress of a row is annoying as I hear that stress can be a major cause of not conceiving. I think you're right - I need to discuss it properly next week - and explain he needs to bite his tongue on fertile days! How are you? Is it the tww?

TwinklyMusic · 13/03/2016 12:01

Oh Rubgy01, I do sympathise! I've had that happen too. It is so frustrating. I wonder whether it he might 'behave' better if he didn't know when in your cycle you are? I ask because sometimes I think knowing might put pressure on.

Just a few days ago H was being a right arse and I was feeling annoyed/ anxious because it was CD 9 and time for whispering sweet nothings and not his man-tantrums about whatever ridiculous nothings Hmm. I sometimes think he is more likely to throw a wobbler around this time of the month because he thinks I'm more keen to smooth things over. But I have been opk-ing with CB and had a clear circle that day so I let him stew (in the spare room). He apologised in the morning and nothing to do with the flashing smiley I got so I 'forgave' him! Grin

I started opk-ing last month and it was a disaster - I started too late, did it all wrong once (out of practice, I hadn't done it in a while), ejected the stick too soon another time by mistake, and didn't bother trying later in the day as CB always worked before for me with fmu. So when I didn't get a smiley I didn't know whether it was because I am a clutz or because I am now a barren old lady in her mid forties and I'm not a drama queen obviously.

So this month I was delighted to get a flashing smiley on days 10,11 & 12, and now a static smiley on day 13. And DH (he's 'D' now again) didn't even need any prodding for dtd! He performed his husbandly duties with aplomb!

I am hugely relieved that this suggests I might still be ovulating after all, as I was stressing about that. When my cycle was 28 days, I always got a static in CD 14, so I guess a static smiley on day 13 fits with a 26 day cycle.

ababs I've started reading 'It starts with the egg' and am a bit Shock at the contact with chemicals chapters. I wondered if that is why you were trying 'method' floor cleaner?!! I ask because I went out earlier this week and bought a lot of Method cleaning products!! I've also ordered a load of 'natural' shampoos/ body creams etc. It's compelling stuff, that book!

ababsurdum · 13/03/2016 17:17

Pies, sorry you're back at cd2. I hope this month is your month (& all of ours obviously!).

Twinkly glad you got a flashing smiley, what a relief for you. I've been using Method products for some time now, though not exclusively, in an effort to be kinder to the environment as well as fewer harmful chemicals around the house. I use the kitchen, bathroom and glass cleaners and the multisurface one occasionally. I've stayed away from the floor cleaner because it seemed such a small bottle for the price (you use it undiluted) and all of our downstairs is laminate flooring. However it was on special offer last week so I bought some to try it out in my Lakeland spray mop. I actually didn't use a great deal at all so the value was not bad but the smell I found quite unbearable really.

Anyway, cd10 today. My opk was somewhat scuppered by a 4:30am loo trip but wouldn't expect anything yet. I've had ewcm today and we need to dtd tonight.

I've also been reading an old thread on the blood type diet and am intrigued. I wonder if there are any potential implications for fertility. It's not a million miles away from my current veggie diet though would mean giving up some major staples - tomatoes & potatoes including sweet potatoes. Need to do more reading.

ababsurdum · 13/03/2016 17:23

Sorry Twinkly, static smiley!

Rugby01 · 13/03/2016 18:01

Hula, Pies and Twinkly - thanks for your support and kinds words and sharing you experiences. I think it probably is made worse by me feeling so much pressure more than him. It's like I want this baby thing to happen and maybe I then feel the hurt if a careless comment more than usual as I feel (like so many of us on here) that I am doing so much to make this happen and what exactly is he doing apart from starting arguments about nothing. Bah. Glad you got your opk positive Twinkly. Good luck this month and hoping no rows get in the way for anyone!
Pies - sorry about cd2. Hope time speeds up for you so that you O date is here again before you know it.
Ababs- good luck to you this month too! Lots of dtd for lots of us....!

Kkmuppet · 13/03/2016 18:05

rugby we have regular monthly arguments at the key time - all driven by him basically picking a fight! I haven't quite got to the bottom of exactly why but I know it's connected with the pressure of ttc. I think it's because we are not getting pregnant and he doesn't want me to blame him for it. It makes it so tough though as I really don't want to dtd when I'm cross with him and thinking he's an arse!
ababs and twinkly we are close in our cycles - I'm on cd 12 with flashing smiley right now and hoping for solid tomorrow!

Rugby01 · 13/03/2016 19:06

Kk - glad it's not just me. And totally know what you mean. Difficult to be in the mood when he's a contrary, fight-picking, over-sensitive idiot. Sorry just venting...

I'm also about to O and then do tww so that's at least three of us....

TwinklyMusic · 13/03/2016 19:10

I think Rugby must also be close to us Kkmuppet as she just had a row with DH when she was about to ovulate!

Let's hope we all share similar BFP dates too then!

I've used Method before too ababs and found the products quite good generally. I don't know the almond one. I think the floor product I've used is for wooden floors.
But since reading "It starts with the egg", I'm feeling a bit more purposeful about banishing the stronger chemical products. I might have gone slightly overboard... Blush

ababsurdum · 13/03/2016 20:01

Commiserations to all those with fight picking dh's. It can be a tense time can't it and at least we have no pressure to perform. Good luck to you all.

ababsurdum · 13/03/2016 20:07

Twinkly I always feel bad getting rid of all the more 'toxic' stuff so I end up keeping it all and using it when I need something a bit tougher. We live in a very hard water area and limescale is a pain in the backside. Generally I also find Method very effective and it leaves a nice scent, I use it daily. I'll give the floor cleaner another go next week and see how I get on. I think I'm definitely knocking the DHEA on the head though.

Kkmuppet · 13/03/2016 20:23

I wish I had time to clean....Blush

ababsurdum · 13/03/2016 20:47

I'm a sahm since having my ds Kkmuppet so it's much easier for me. I try and do a bit every day to keep on top of it, the house is certainly not perfect though.
