Old thread just about finished. Here is a new one... Fx for lots of well earned BFPs for those ttc over forty. We also welcome stories from those who have successfully had their babies over forty and we love hearing back from our graduates.

twinkly ababs and anyone else with due dates approaching I hope you have time to get a bfp before then! I need mine by April 15th as that would have been Ruby Rose's 1st birthday.
I really want it but I'm not sure I can handle the FFC!! Might have to travel a bit to Dublin with work too over the next few months which will make it a bit challenging. I'm already wondering how to have the conversation around 'Sorry can't come today cos I'm 44 and ovulating and I don't want to miss this egg cos it might be my last one!' .... Any suggestions of suitable excuses welcome Smile

ababsurdum · 10/03/2016 06:13

Grin at the FattyFishwife Challenge! I'm not gonna set myself up for failure, I know I couldn't do it but I wish you all well. You will need lots of Cake and Chocolate methinks.

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/03/2016 08:46

Well of course, ababs, one must fuel one's body properly for any athletic challenge! Grin

kk I hope you get your bfp asap. I think the obvious solution to your business trips is the vial full of 'expressed' swimmers for the hotel minibar and a syringe. Just don't forget and leave the bottle behind when you leave! Shock

FattyFishwife · 10/03/2016 11:02

ahahahah I love it pies you go girl!!

Kkmuppet · 10/03/2016 12:12

pies and when they ask me what the liquid is at airport security?! BlushConfused

ababsurdum · 10/03/2016 12:33

You should be ok Kkmuppet as it will be less than 100ml Grin

ababsurdum · 10/03/2016 12:34

Reminds me of the Ally McBeal ep where they take semen to a prison and get stopped by some cops. Female cop says hmmm I recognise that smell.

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/03/2016 12:57

Exactly. One more 'shampoo' bottle in the plastic bag. Just don't mix them up! Wink I've never had them sniff my product, if you'll forgive the term, at airport security.

Beegee3 · 10/03/2016 13:22

Hello ladies x well af turned up with her bright red hat on this morning. An hour after I used a FRER pg test. So that is af on 11 dpo...over and out this month x

ababsurdum · 10/03/2016 13:57

So sorry Beegee. I wish you better luck this month Flowers

joeywife · 10/03/2016 15:18

Gosh - lots to catch up on here. I'll work my way back....
begee sorry that you are out this month. I don't know a huge amount about supplements but I have read on here about some that have helped people to lengthen their cycles and get closer to 28 days (or 14 dpo) as 11 dpo does sound a tad short. It might be worth looking into that.
pies - I definitely don't think I'm up for the FFW challenge. I honestly don't think I could do it. Maybe when it gets a bit warmer, but at the moment I like nothing better than being snuggled up in bed in my pjs at 9pm (this is why I am not pg!!).
Sorry to read about the losses and sad tales earlier in the thread. I hope that we get some good news stories soon. I keep coming across people who are expecting their Third child when their oldest is younger than my ds. It's not their fault, but I feel like punching themWink.
As for me - well I'm about cd19/20. Not sure how many dpo as haven't done any opks or anything this month. I did have loads of ewcm on Friday - sorry if tmi but that is very rare for me, I can go months without any (including when I conceived ds) so we dtd that night. Who knows. I have no expectations this month as it's our first cycle since the IVF. I would love to do an ababs and conceive the first month after, but can't see it happening.
Anyway. Good luck to those coming up to 'crunch' time and onwards and upwards to those back at day 1.

Hula2 · 10/03/2016 16:55

Finger s crossed joeywife, lots of ewcm sounds promising.

Re the FFC Pies - go for it ! I love the ambition, i think we d have to be on holiday for a month (without ds!) to have any hope of that Wink

Sorry for those approaching difficult anniversaries. Kk april 15th will be a sad day in our house too as was the day i miscarried (2 yrs this year). A friend of mine whose 1st is in my ds class has a second child that is exactely the same age as the LO i lost would have been. A diffiucult daily visual reminder of what might have been..Sad Sending virtual hugs all round.

Sorry Beegee for af, i agree might be worth trying something to lengthen your luteal phase a bit (i think b6 and acupuncture worked for me).

Chewy thanks for the link, interesting reading. Wonder if getting the quenby uterine biopsy would have the same effect as a uterine scratch (thinking two birds one stone !). Glad your dd is over the worst of the chickenpox.

Kkmuppet · 10/03/2016 17:31

Sorry af got you beegee. I was getting frustrated with my cycles as I seemed to be ovulating a couple days later and then having a shorter luteal phase of about 10 days. I saw a consultant who said it could just be hormones going back slowly to normal after giving birth or could also be that I was ovulating but the eggs were not sufficiently mature for the corpus outrun to sustain a normal luteal phase. He put me on clomid for a few months to give my body an extra push which has def worked to bring o back to cd14 and push my lp to 12 days..... No pregnancy yet though :-(

Kkmuppet · 10/03/2016 17:32

Oops not outrun! Luteum!

Beegee3 · 10/03/2016 18:30

Hi, my cycle was 27 days, ovulated cd18 and like I say af 11 dpo. Do you think this could be a problem?? I have been off the mini pill 3 months kk not sure if this could be a reason. Just don't know now if I have a problem ?? 😕 x

Beegee3 · 10/03/2016 18:34

Reading about luteal phase defect now 😕 x

joeywife · 10/03/2016 18:42

Sorry beegee didn't mean to worry you. I've only heard that a short Lp may be an issue but I don't know facts and figures to know what counts as 'short'. Definitely worth checking out.

ababsurdum · 10/03/2016 18:44

Beegee I seem to remember reading that a LP of less than 10 days could be problematic so I don't think you need to worry too much. Hopefully there are things you can do to help lengthen it.

Rugby01 · 10/03/2016 19:33

Haha I love the FFW challenge! Good luck Pies! I'm up for it...!

Beegee- sorry AF rudely entered the room. Fx for next time. 😕

Heehee - the discussion about the extra shampoo bottle made me smile.

Rugby01 · 10/03/2016 21:08

On the luteal phase thing -I also seem to have a short one (10-11 days). my acupuncturist (who I can't afford anymore) said he could help to make it longer too. Though I found the month when I completely gave up sugar it was slightly longer (like by 1 day!) and I O'd earlier but who knows. It was so hard giving up sugar that I can't do it anyway! And anyway when I went to the GP to start the fertility checks he didn't think a short LP was a particular problem.

Beegee3 · 10/03/2016 21:19

No its fine joey so my lp was 10 days long and that isn't ideal apparently. I know i'm getting my lh surge as I get my +ve opks and had my static smiley this month. I have just ordered some agnus castus as that is supposed to help?? My boobs seemed to be progesterone-y since ovulation (very tender at the sides and nipples) x

FattyFishwife · 10/03/2016 21:59

beegee so sorry the witch invited herself to visit :(

the other day i made a decision that i would come to the end of my suppleents that i have 'in stock' at home, then give up this TTC lark, as it clearly is all down to me and my eggs must be hard boiled....this gave me a rough finish date of end of may......

Today I found myself googling how to get my eggs/ovarian reserve tested and how much it would cost......wtf is wrong with me?!?!? I make a (very difficult) decision, then without meaning to, or even consciously thinking about it, find myself looking to get myself checked out.......

Id suppose id just like to know if it was my eggs being shit quality or hardly any of them left that was making all my efforts in vain...knowing the reason I suppose, would give me closure....least thats what Im telling myself!!

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/03/2016 22:13

beegee sorry about AF. For me, there is nothing like testing to bring on AF the next/same day. I guess, from my perspective, if I'm going to be out anyway, it's better to have it be cd1 and a fresh start than lingering on at cd27, 28, 29, 30... I've also read that the evidence for luteul phase defect being a problem is rather weak, at least in terms of making bit hard to sustain a pregnancy (the theorised problem.) I hope this month you kick the witch's arse.

rugby yes! Bring on the FFC. I'm a lot more likely to be able to have sex every day than I am to be able to give up sugar.

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/03/2016 22:15

Fatty I know what you mean. I'd like to know that it's all for naught, instead of just being pretty sure it is...

joeywife · 10/03/2016 22:16

Oh yes fatty I'm in exactly the same boat. I said to myself that if the IVF didn't work then that would be it. I had great plans to clear all of the baby stuff out of the loft. What have I done? Upped the supplements and I've got my first appointment with a new acupuncturist tomorrow! Sigh - can't give up!
To be honest Fatty I don't think that the tests are going to tell you anything you don't already know. Yes we're old (in child bearing terms) - is there anything you/we can do? Unless they discover anything clearly wrong, I don't think that the amh/fsh tests tell you anything that you didn't already suspect.
Sorry - I don't mean to sound like a doomonger but I've had tests galore and it doesn't get you any closer to that bfp. All they say is that it's about the 'quality' and there are no tests for that. Every time I just get suggested about donor eggs and that's not something I feel comfortable with, but it's always the option that's given to me.
