Anyone else starting their 2ww?

Hi all

I think I am 2dpo and think AF is due 4th Feb so 13 days until I will be testing, if AF doesn't arrive.

I know it's not really possible to have symptoms this early but I have had frequent urination, excessive saliva and a slight metallic taste in my mouth today. I think it must be all in my head, because I don't remember having these symptoms the last time I had a BFP (which ended in an early m/c).

Is anyone else just starting a 2ww?

Welcome back Kate! I was worried about you. Sorry you had to go through so much waiting and confusion.

The blood sounds like just maybe left overs from your MC. After I had mine they told me that I would get heavy period next as is takes a while to get back to totally normal. And it could also be ovulation spotting so I think nothing to worry about!

I understand what you DH said about giving it all a rest - it does help! I have this month and I've felt loads better! I'm on cd 23 with no symptoms so not caught this month. Onto the next!!

Good luck!

HopefulKate1980 · 21/02/2016 09:49

Ah bless you lily. Thank you. I was pretty low for a while - I just couldn't understand why my body was taking so long to get back to normal. I thought that having surgery and then having a big dose of antibiotics to clear up an infection would have cleaned out all the hormones and blood but clearly not. It is all so confusing.

Anyway, I am glad to be back! How are you? No symptoms doesn't necessarily mean anything? Did you DTD this month? xx

HopefulKate1980 · 21/02/2016 09:50

How are you this morning shopaholic?

xx

Lily35 · 21/02/2016 10:26

We DTD perfectly over ovulation! It's been quite a fun month too which is always good. It was becoming a bit regimented. I'm back at the fertility docs in March so one more month and I think we can talk IVF

HopefulKate1980 · 21/02/2016 10:38

Ah great that it is fun again lily!

Sorry to ask a personal question, but why are you going to the fertility doctors? I ask because I am thinking we may need to do the same if we don't fall in the next few months.

Before my first pregnancy in July last year, I was told by a fertility doctor that I had a low AMH and they recommended IVF. They told me I would never get pregnant naturally but then fell a few weeks later (the day before I was about to start IVF!). Sadly I miscarried that baby but fell pregnant again immediately afterwards, and then miscarried again. So if we don't have a successful pregnancy relatively soon I am going to go back and talk about IVF.

xx

We've been trying over 2 years now. Some months weren't quite right timing wise but still felt too long so we went to docs and I had all the tests. Tubes are open and OHs sperm is ok but I had a closed cervix. We sorted that out and I fell pg a couple of months after (right before we were due to start Clomid). She said to keep trying with the Clomid and when I go back we will talk about IVF cos I'm 35 now. I'm worried about the AMH and egg reserve but they haven't brought that up with me? How did they test for it?

HopefulKate1980 · 21/02/2016 11:41

They do a blood test but I also had a scan on my ovaries which showed that I don't produce many follicles each month which they said would make conceiving very difficult but we have fell pregnant twice so I am not sure what that means? My plan is to try for three cycles and then if it doesn't work, go back to them.

Don't worry about the AMH unless they bring it up. They would have tested earlier if they were worried. The Clomid must have worked if you fell pregnant so that is encouraging?

When can you do a pregnancy test? xx

Lily35 · 21/02/2016 13:03

I got pg the month before my Clomid started. I think I'll wait another 4 months and then move forward.
Thanks for the advice on those tests - I was starting to get worried. I've had a scan on my follicles and she seemed happy so maybe I'm just being a bit impatient!
No one told me it would be this hard - I was so excited when we first started TTC!

HopefulKate1980 · 21/02/2016 14:17

I know! It all feels so hard at times. We will get there though, I know it. Xx

shopaholic85 · 21/02/2016 21:31

Welcome back Kate! I'm glad to hear you were finally able to start ttc again.

I'm sorry that the ttc journey has been so tough for you both. We only started ttc 6 months ago, but with the mc, it feels like a lifetime.

Ovia says I can start testing in 9 days. No symptoms whatsoever yet, but I'm not obsessing like I did last month. We gave it a good shot so I think I will be able to cope with a BFN.

Lily, you'll be the first to test. On Saturday, I think?

Hi Shopaholic
Yep gonna leave it until Saturday! I'm due AF on Sunday. I don't think we have caught so I feel like you - I can cope with the BFN this time I think. Got a busy week so just going to get on with things!

HopefulKate1980 · 21/02/2016 22:27

Thanks Shopaholic! Lovely to hear from you.

God, so we all have a big week of waiting ahead! I'm pretty sure I haven't caught either cos bleeding is still continuing. But at least my cycle will be back to normal in a few weeks.

Let's keep in touch this week. Sleep tight ladies xx

mustthinkofabetterusername · 21/02/2016 23:52

Am new to this thread. Only just started ttc dc2, af due on Sat, so earliest I can test is Tues. Stupid question; how often do they start new tww threads? Every month? Or do people just stay on the same one and let it roll over?

Lily35 · 22/02/2016 15:32

Hi ! And welcome. This one has just rolled over!

Good luck this cycle - how long did it take for you to conceive no 1?

mustthinkofabetterusername · 22/02/2016 15:39

Thanks lily35

DC1 took ten months to conceive. I was quite relaxed about the whole thing until 6 months, after that was a bit more stressed about it (have a family history of "unexplained infertility"), delighted to get pregnant before one year and having to go to hospital for further assessment etc

This time we're going with the old-fashioned (and recommended by NICE guidelines) dtd every 2-3 days. I'm not checking temps, but do feel when I ovulate to track this.

Testing tomorrow (four days before period due). Anyone else testing tomorrow also?

Lily35 · 22/02/2016 16:06

Saturday testing day for me but it will be BFN so I'm not rushing! Have u got any symptoms?

mustthinkofabetterusername · 22/02/2016 16:30

You never know! Do you have any other dc or are you ttc dc1?

Have myself convinced I felt pain and "pop" of implantation, a couple of days after ovulation. But I'm also aware that the the power of suggestion can make the mind and body believe just about anything!

It could be a waste of time and money testing tomorrow (four days early) though. With dc1, home pg test was negative four days early and on day period was due, it only came up positive four days after period was due!

Lily35 · 22/02/2016 16:53

Still TTC no 1 - it's been a long and heartbreaking journey!

I definitely know though this month that its a BFN. I just feel so normal and well.

HopefulKate1980 · 22/02/2016 20:19

Hi mustthinkofabetterusername! It'a small group this one, and it keeps rolling, but it's a real comfort to have people going through the same thing... so welcome!!

I feel like I am going out of my mind with this bleeding! It has been 5 days now since I supposedly ovulated (according to the OPKs) and I am STILL bleeding. There is no chance I could be PG with this much bleeding surely?

I started to think today it could be a period, but surely it wouldn't happen so soon after a positive OPK? I am so confused and it is getting me down. I feel like there is nobody I ask what is happening / wrong - my GP doesn't seem to have a clue about cycles after miscarriage and I don't want to bother the EPU again. Last time I spoke to them they said it is probably ovulation bleeding, but from what I have read online, it wouldn't last this long. I also have quite uncomfortable bloating and cramps which suggests it is a period...

ARGH!!!!

Hope you have all had better days??
x

mustthinkofabetterusername · 22/02/2016 20:19

Hi! Sorry to hear your journey is a long one, hope there is a positive for you soon. Have you heard of the facebook page Saltwater and Honey?

It is written from the perspective of a couple of people going through infertility and trying to maintain positivity (as opposed to being out the other end and already having a happy ending, or the other extreme of being really cross/bitter, as some infertility blogs etc can be. That's not a criticism, it's just sometimes hard to find that happy medium in and extremely difficult situation.

Lily35 · 22/02/2016 20:51

Kate - you aren't half having a confusing time! It could be period? Have u had one since your MC? It could be lining left over from the MC? Personally I think I would count day 1 of the bleed as cd 1 and see if u get positive OpK again in 10-14 days?

Thanks Mustthinkofabertername - ill check that Facebook page out!

Shopaholic - any symptoms??

HopefulKate1980 · 22/02/2016 20:57

I know lily!! It is driving me round the bend. I have asked myself the same questions!

I was told by the EPU that the minute I get a negative p test, my body would realise it wasn't pregnant and start to ovulate. So that is why I started using OPKs after my negative test to find out when I was about to ovulate...

It was low fertility for a few days and then went to high and then peak.... so surely this isn't a period as I have only just ovulated!! But then if it is leftover lining, does this mean the egg that I ovulated might be unhealthy?

SO MANY QUESTIONS! We should set up a business staffed by doctors and nurses that answer questions about MC. We all have so many questions all the time and no real answers...

xx

shopaholic85 · 22/02/2016 22:00

Oh Kate, you poor thing. Like an mc isn't bad enough without all these ongoing issues! I have no answers I'm afraid, but like you say, that's sadly the case for women after an mc. I just hope the bleeding stops soon.

Welcome mustthinkofabetterusername to our little group. The more the merrier!

Lily, I have no symptoms whatsoever! Absolutely nothing. I know that doesn't mean anything, but can't imagine implantation would happen without me noticing a single change. I don't understand my body at all!

HopefulKate1980 · 22/02/2016 22:13

Thanks shopaholic! I'm going to wait until Thursday & then if I'm still bleeding call the doctors or EPU. I may need another bout of antibiotics maybe. So bloody bored of all this.

Did you get any symptoms last time? When are you testing again?

Xx

mustthinkofabetterusername · 22/02/2016 22:25

thanks for the welcome ladies

hopefulkate that souonds like such a confusing situation to be in a the moment, and as a result stressful :( Would there be any supportive practice nurses in the gp surgery you could speak to?
