Anyone else starting their 2ww?

Hi all

I think I am 2dpo and think AF is due 4th Feb so 13 days until I will be testing, if AF doesn't arrive.

I know it's not really possible to have symptoms this early but I have had frequent urination, excessive saliva and a slight metallic taste in my mouth today. I think it must be all in my head, because I don't remember having these symptoms the last time I had a BFP (which ended in an early m/c).

Is anyone else just starting a 2ww?

That's shocking. Makes you wonder how many people go through that, it's potentially incredibly cynical and aimed to manipulate people who are understandably at their lowest.

Fertility treatment can be the most wonderful thing and transform lives. My DSC were IVF babies and my DP and his ex could never have had children without it. But it's grim thinking there are people working in it, like every industry, who are dodgy. Though I'm sure there are others who just make mistakes too and as we all know, there's apparently sod all rhyme or reason to baby making.

Anyway, as you say, relax and look forward to a fun evening!

Dress is pale pink, full length, sleeveless with crossing straps at the back, bit of a crystally thing on the waist. Simple and relaxed, feels lovely. Exciting!

Ive not been trying for three years following a MC at 5 weeks. The emotion of it scared me. I felt so numb afterwards, but a few months later the grief was unbearable. I was never going to try again. However, this month is not so much trying to get PG, more just seeing what happens. Having said that I have wanted another child for about 15 years. I have two who are 21 and 19 but I had them in my early 20s and it flew by so fast. If it happens, it happens. But I REALLY want it to happen. I know I defo ovulated during the weekend and had a busy time in the bedroom dept so fingers crossed.

HopefulKate1980 · 03/04/2016 11:39

Frantastic so sorry for a slow reply. Had a busy weekend and a painful back. I am so pleased you are wanting to try again after your MC. It is the hardest thing but so glad you are over the pain. I have had two MCs and a chemical pregnancy and have no children already, so know how difficult it is to keep trying, but you have to keep hoping...But welcome to this thread!

How do you know you ovulated?? I don't know how to tell.

I am in my fertile window, we have DTD three times now and my CM seems to suggest I am ovulating - it's EWCM and now it is creamy. Does anyone know if that means I have ovulated?

How is everyone else?

Anne your dress sounds utterly gorgeous. Perfect spring / summer dress. How exciting.

x

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/04/2016 14:02

Good job on dtd with your sore back Kate! Star, how are you feeling? Is creamy CM meant to follow EWCM? I'm CD18 now, you?

I'm 3 dpo I think, based on Ovia and weird left pelvic aching on Thursday and Friday. Boobs are massive again since yesterday. Feeling alright. Quite tired but manic long weekend.

Thanks! I now need all the other stuff... Shoes, hair ideas, nails etc.

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/04/2016 14:03

Just realised that about anyone getting their bfp this month will be having a xmas baby! Smile

(numbers not my strong point! Wink )

Julia2016 · 04/04/2016 15:53

I'm very confused. I'm on the 2ww. Is It the case we shouldn't get any symtoms until after implantation as that is when the hormone is released from the brain to tell the body it's pregnant and so the symptoms start? How do we get symtoms so early post ovulation? Oh and I have a load of them, nausea, sore boobs, I'm 8dpo.

HopefulKate1980 · 04/04/2016 20:15

Hi Julia - I am not sure what the science is with when you should get symptoms. I think everyone is different. With both my pregnancies (which ended in MCs), I had some small symptoms within about 5 -7 days, and I had very distinctive flutters in my tummy from about 3/4dpo. I think some women can feel symptoms if they are very in tune with their bodies as when the egg is fertilised, and before it implants, it produces hormones which can cause bloating and sore boobs. Also implantation can cause cramping. I am not 100% sure of the science though.

And I know Anne! That would be a Xmas miracle for us, but hoping it works for you and others on this thread!

I am on CD 11. Ovia said I ovulated on Friday or Saturday - so I guess I am 2/3 dpo. My CM is now just watery and was very stringy yesterday so think I have only just ovulated. That is great you are getting such strong symptoms though! When can you test?

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/04/2016 10:15

Hi Julia you read all sorts out there, some people swear they knew straight away, including my Mum!

How's everyone?

Pretty sure I have cystitis. Never had it before but my poor sister is a chronic sufferer and it feels like it. No pain urinating but lower abdominal pain, really bloated, keep wanting to wee even after I've just been, general feeling of low level infection and keep getting clammy and goosebumps. Delightful. Called the doc and waiting for someone to call me back. Weirdly, had the same on Friday night, felt rotten, but it went away and is now back.

Anyone an expert?

HopefulKate1980 · 05/04/2016 21:34

HI everyone.

You poor thing Anne. Are you feeling any better now? Did the doctor call you back?

I have had ALOT of cystitis in my time - been to A&E with it about 3 times and had it recurrently as a kid. It is always agony to wee, like weeing daggers and I get searing pain in my tummy. It has always gone v quickly with anti-biotics, but I imagine you may not want to take those if you are in your TWW?

I would suggest tons and tons of water, hot water bottles and if you can, stay as calm as possible because for me it was always much worse when I was stressed.

Hope you feel better v v soon xx

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/04/2016 08:59

Thanks Kate, started antibiotics yesterday and feeling a bit better. God, yours sounds grim! Have you stopped getting it? This is my first time, pretty lucky I think! I told the doctor and pharmacist I'm ttc and they said the meds are totally safe. I was a bit worried but have to trust them.

Feeling pretty grumpy and low today despite feeling better. I'm shattered and life just never seems to calm down does it? I'm sure, for no particularly reason, this isn't our month, and that's fine. I got suckered into thinking it would happen straight away as it does for so many people. I feel bad even saying that as some of you have been through so much already and been trying much longer. But there you go.

It's my birthday in a few days, we have a happy weekend away to look forward, wedding planning's going well. I have a huge amount to be grateful for. But for anything I'd crawl back into bed and sleep for a week, have a good bawl then sleep for another week.

HopefulKate1980 · 07/04/2016 18:20

HI everyone

I am so sorry you have been feeling low Anne - I know it is a tough situation we are all in but I always find that antibiotics make me feel depressed too. How are you feeling now? Has the UTI gone? Poor thing, hope you are feeling better.

How are you Julia, Lily?

xx

HopefulKate1980 · 07/04/2016 18:22

And Frantastic? Theaks - are you getting on ok too? x

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/04/2016 20:36

Feeling but better thanks Kate, still quite low but happy to have finished work for the week today and getting my head into a nice weekend away. How are you doing? Can you revise when you can test based on ovulating early this cycle?

HopefulKate1980 · 07/04/2016 21:03

Ah that's good Anne pleased you are better and have a nice weekend ahead.

I am so confused about my cycle. Been getting a bit down about it. As you know, I thought I ovulated last Fri and Sat, which would mean I am now 6/7 dpo - I have been getting bad bloating, gas, tiredness, swollen boobs, cramps etc so thought things might be happening. And then today, I did an OPK out of curiosity and it was PEAK which has totally thrown me as it could mean that I didn't ovulate last weekend and I am ovulating now. However I have creamy CM which from what I know isn't fertile so I am VERY confused and getting a bit peed off with it at now. Why can't it be easy eh?

xx

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/04/2016 23:16

How are you doing now Kate? That's so odd about your OPK, I haven't done it so no experience at all.

I've felt so shite I've even been off work. Don't remember last time that happened. Cystitis done, followed by nasty ear infection and then came on 3 days early. Feeling. Wiped. Out. Also quite worried about how short my cycle's got so quickly and cocking up our honeymoon plans :(

How's everyone else?

HopefulKate1980 · 16/04/2016 12:44

You poor thing Anne that sounds nasty. Can you rest this weekend?? Hope you feel better soon.

I'm now about 12dpo I think and Ovia says I can test. Got a v faint line a few days ago but I think it was an evaporation line in truth. I'll test tomorrow I think. AF due on Wednesday. Feeling v crampy, bloated and got swollen boobs so feel like AF is on its way. I'm seeing my consultant on Wednesday night & going to ask him about going on Clomid I think as reckon my ovulation has changed since the MC.

Does anyone have any experience of Clomid? Does it work?

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/04/2016 13:30

Kate! Test again! OMG, you never know...

Crampy, bloated and sore boobs could be either surely? And you've had those symptoms for a while. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you x

Good you're seeing your consultant. You should be sure either way by then.

I'm not doing anything apart from resting, still wiped out. But watching a lot of TV which is nice!

HopefulKate1980 · 17/04/2016 08:51

I'll test again in a few days if still no period. Got cramps still, and increasing amounts of CM but that could mean AF is on it's way so...

Glad you are feeling better. What stage are you at now? Has your bug knocked you out with the old TTC efforts? Hope not.

Such a beautiful day here. Lots of sunshine ahead apparently too. I need to get my pale legs into shape quickly!

xx

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/04/2016 14:30

What news Kate? Sorry you're still cramping Sad

My af arrived days ahead of schedule, not as heavy as last time and only one day of real pain so count myself lucky. Quite worried a suddenly shorter cycle will have ballsed up my plans for the next couple of months. But what can you do!

Currently CD 6. Kept dtd through various ailments, always makes me feel better. I'm going to (hopefully) ovulate 3 days earlier than I otherwise would have to reflect the shifting cycle length I think?

Focussing on generally looking after myself after weeks of being run down, lots of fruit and veg, vitamins, water, minimal booze.

No sun here today but glad you've had some! How are you feeling?

HopefulKate1980 · 22/04/2016 15:06

Hi Anne

I got my bloody period on Monday! It has been so heavy which makes me think it must have been a lovely big egg. I am so annoyed but when I look back at Ovia we didn't actually DTD that much, and I think all the drugs I was taking for my back might have delayed ovulation? I don't know, but all I know is this is the month where it all matters! I am still bleeding but we are going to start tomorrow and then not stop for about 10 days! No more OPKs this month or obsessing about symptoms, just lots of time together and rest. Fingers crossed!!

How are you feeling today?

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/04/2016 15:25

Oh Kate, how disappointing and sorry it's been a rough one.

You sound like you have a good plan though, crack on and I'm crossing everything for you for this month x Time together is the best, eat well, rest, look after yourself and do things that make you feel happy and relaxed.

Hope your back's better and you have a brilliant 10 days of dtd a lot!

I'm alright thanks, feel like the pill has now been gone a while and everything's settled down nicely. Boobs aren't constantly changing size and I feel a bit less riotously hormonal all the time! Did wonder about trying OPK as I haven't before and I think the reassurance would be nice? Would you say it's best not to start though?

We've been dtd near enough constantly so will carry on and hope something happens....

HopefulKate1980 · 22/04/2016 15:42

Thanks Anne. I was so upset at the start of the week. I even told my boyfriend that I'd had enough and couldn't stand the pain any longer, but I perked up on Wednesday and now feel positive again.

Some people swear by OPKs but my consultant said not to use them as they can cause unnecessary confusion. They only detect a surge in hormones but they don't predict ovulation. You can have a surge and then not ovulate until a week later, but if you trusted the OPK you'd miss that second window. He just said to relax and DTD as much as possible.

I'd give them a go though, cos they are useful. Just don't let them stop you DTD or change when you would have had sex normally... if that makes sense.

I think CM is a good indictor and also lots of people on here temp, but I haven't got into that yet.

This month is all about being ZEN for me!

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/04/2016 15:12

How are you feeling this week Kate? I've had some good advice on here about OPK, plusses and minuses and I think that, as you say, if it's not giving you much that's actually accurate I'll leave it for now. Something to bear in mind though.

Everyone else doing okay?

I'm on CD13 and feeling good. Not looking forward to the 2WW but like Kate I'm trying to be zen!

HopefulKate1980 · 28/04/2016 13:50

Much better thanks Anne. How are you?? I'm on CD11, still got lots of EWCM so imagine I'll ovulate soon if I haven't already. DTD every night since Sunday so far. So tired, but we are going to try two or three more times then I hope that will cover this month. Fingers crossed. I'm not sure how much disappointment I could take tbh.

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/04/2016 14:53

Good news! Hope you ovulate soon, do you feel alright about not OPK-ing? Keep on dtd if you both want to, that's got to be the main thing, but also good to know you're giving yourselves the best chance you can.

I'm manic, last bits getting sorted for wedding, work is insane, just so much going on. DTD every day but hardly sleeping, must try and prioritise rest and relaxation where possible....

I'm day 16 today, so nearly out of the green zone. I came on so suddenly and so early last month I didn't get a chance to start stressing! Assuming the same will happen again and maintaining the zen.
