ermentrude - I know how you feel with the false hope of a +ve test. That happened to me last month. This month AF is 3 days late now but I won't be testing until Friday.

MoseGirl · 27/06/2004 20:19

Hi Azure and thanks for your kind words.

Reflexology is great, and I didn't think about the eating bit so I'm not sure?

I think another MN named 'rosies' is a reflexologist so maybe she can advise more - I would also be interested.

ermentrude · 27/06/2004 22:13

Hi folks - i am stupid...got my dates all wrong - af isn't due until sunday. That will teach me to half-heartedly ttc this month. I am fine!

Good luck to all those testing soon

rosies · 28/06/2004 02:16

before reflexology you shouldnt have a large meal. if you can, i would suggest a sandwich or something light about an hour before... you dont want to be hungry either.

make sure you drink plenty of water afterwards too. and keep a note of how you feel over the days afterwards. mind you, your therapist should tell you all this!

enjoy!

best wishes
rosie

Hi all, nothing new to report here really. Thought AF was going to make an appearance on Monday but turned out just to be light spotting. I always had some mid-cycle when I was on the pill but somehow forgot about it since TTC.

On CD34 now, done 2 tests and both -ve so I guess my system is just more messed up by the pill than I thought! Part of me is secretly wishing AF to hurry up so I can start a new cycle and try again.......

miranda2 · 28/06/2004 13:31

hiya. still feeling a bit sick. Can't help thinking - was throwing up everywhere on Saturday a reaction to conception??!! Am I now pregnant??
Lots of reasons why this is almost certainly not the case - like i wasn't sick at all with my first, and have never heard of sickness that early (ie at the moment of conception), and dh felt a bit ill a couple of days ago so prob got the same thing (though wasn't actually sick). But you know how it is - these things go round and round your head!! And then I think, ooh my boobs feel a bit sore actually... mental.

runtus · 28/06/2004 13:41

Miranda, I've been down that road....felt sick every morning for about a week and a half, managed to convince myself that although the test results were negative it was just because it was so early and the tests couldn't pick it up.

Then DH went down with a sickness bug. Have had to accept that I was probably just suffering the same bug. Big disappointment . My adivce would be not to let your imagination run away with you I'm afraid......

Staceyk · 28/06/2004 16:03

Hi all
Nothing much to tell really on CD 35! (last 2 cycles being 60days) still trying to hold myself back from testing, promised myself I wouldn't test til July! Really silly reasoning, a friend of mind told me she had a dream that I would find out I was pg in July! she doens't even know I'm ttc. Prob a load of nonsense but you know what it's like.... can't help hoping

miranda2 · 28/06/2004 19:17

Its OK runtus, I know I can't be preg really - was just posting to say how stupid i feel that I was even thinking about it... its so easy to get obsessed isn't it?!

Azure · 29/06/2004 11:26

I had my reflexology yesterday lunchtime, and very relaxing it was too - what a shame I had to go back to work. I seemed to be in reasonable general health. The reflexologist suggested a high protein, low carb diet - coincidentally I have just started a low carb one - and to drink at least 2 litres of water per day. I am on CD8, so positive thoughts for this month.

runtus · 29/06/2004 11:31

I feel like a totally obsessed woman already and we've only been ttc for a little over a month. I found myself in Boots yesterday checking out the ovulation testing kits, when only a month ago I was breezinly saying " oh no, we aren't really trying. Just coming off the pill and letting nature take it's course".

Now I'm checking out every website I can find relating to conception, hunting down a definite answer to every twinge, change and 'feeling' and if I'm honest...... deep down I expected it to happen first time.

Talk about impatient!

Azure · 29/06/2004 11:57

LOL Runtus - and I bet your DH doesn't give it a moment's thought!

rosies · 29/06/2004 12:12

hi azure, glad you enjoyed the reflex and yes, its always a pity to have to go back to work having said that, some people find the session very energising.

the question is... did you book another session?

Azure · 29/06/2004 12:47

Rosies - how often should I go? She suggested as much as once per week, but at £35 a go that's too expensive. This ttc malarky is costing me a fortune.

runtus · 29/06/2004 14:56

If only! Unfortunatley DH is as obsessed as me and ask if there is 'any change' every day.

He's never really had an 'education' about pregnancy and periods before now, think he finds the whole thing fascinating from a scientific point of view!

He was gobsmacked at the weekend when I explained how you use a pregnancy test......I didn't even ask what he thought you did with it!

Cyndii · 29/06/2004 15:55

Hi to everyone ttc, I've just recently joined the "club". Even though I have a little boy it just happened first time round ~ no planning as such just a calculated risk but now after 3 periods I WANT A BABY!! Are most of you using tester kits to see when you are fertile I don't want to go down that road yet, trying other methods to begin with. Any advise? Have any of you any experience with alternative methods e.g. watching for discharge, which I was told, means that you are fertile. Gosh I really do sound like a green horn but to be honest that's exactly what I am. Really enjoyed reading all the below info!

runtus · 29/06/2004 16:00

Hi Cyndii,

Bit of a new girl myself so don't feel too daft asking questions, we all have to go through it! I have been ttc for just over a month in fact so you are ahead of me already.

malinki · 29/06/2004 16:00

Well its CD30, very sore boobs, so did a pg test, big fat no-no , also phoned hospital (under a gynie for PCOS and Endometriosis), they have decided not to waste anymore time (I turned 34 over the weekend), so it looks like, i'm headin for the IVF list. Good luck to you all, I'll pop back from time to time to check on you all. Have fun

rosies · 29/06/2004 18:28

azure,

blinking heck... 35 quid???? where are you? i charge 25

well, i would also suggest once a week, at least for say 4 goes... that way you can see how you like it, if there is improvement, do you feel like you are benefitting etc etc.

finances of course are a consideration. i do think thats steep, unless you are in central london/ posh suburbs. is she independant or attached to a salon/ spa? see if you can do a deal by booking 4 treatments up front.

god, no wonder you are all reluctant to give reflex a go with those hiked up prices!

miranda2 · 30/06/2004 17:35

Some woman in a shop said to me 'you're pregnant aren't you' today!!!!! In a conversation about dress sizes - I was flabbergasted, didn't know what to say. Ended up going 'er - er - no, I'm not actually - must just be my tummy'. She didn't even have the decency to look embarrased.
And I lost a stone Feb- March! Am not thinner than i have been since i was about 20 - 10stone (I'm 5'7, so not exactly a lardarse). B*h.

misdee · 30/06/2004 17:40

i'm pregnant!!!

i found out on monday. i've been waiting patiently to get back from hols to let u know.

am in shock a bit, no sickness, sore boobs or anything. only indication was no AF on monday, so did a test and OMG!!

Cyndii · 30/06/2004 18:05

Congrats Missdee!!

Best of luck and enjoy your pregnancy!

Staceyk · 30/06/2004 19:18

Congrats Missdee. How long had you been trying?
Wishing you lots of luck, spend that baby dust this way.

alterego · 30/06/2004 19:25

Congratulations misdee and good luck

Having decided I wasn't going to test until Friday (today), on Wednesday I decided the symptoms were so clear I really should test ... and it was positive, although quite faint. Then yesterday AF arrived. So I've done it again - +ve test one day, AF the next I've decided that it AF is late again I just don't bother testing - I'm tempting fate, I recognise the early symptoms for me (needing loo in the early hours of the morning, slightly light headed) so I'll just go by that in future and save the expense. However, I will keep on using the OPKs - they're working well for me - I've got pregnant 3 out of 4 times using them - the problem is just maintaining the pregnancy.

I was reading today that once you're 40 (I'm 39) the failure rate for conceptions is as high as 1 in 2. So I shouldn't be surprised that it's proving difficult for me now. Will keep going for another few months and then maybe seek GP's advice. I'm not interested (I don't think) in IVF, just something more basic that will help me to hold onto these babies. Do any of you have any advice for me in the meantime? I have tried reflexology in the past and was unfortunately totally unimpressed. It was probably the reflexologist - she "diagnosed" several conditions which I can honestly say do not apply to me whilst ignoring the (admittedly minor)conditions that do apply! I've just got some wheatgerm oil today which is supposed to help. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Girly · 30/06/2004 20:52

Congratulations Missdee

Monday must have been a good day, cause thats when i got my positive too . I have sore boobs, am dropping off to sleep at 8pm everynight and have a sicky/burpy feeling as well as a rubbery taste in the mouth! Lovely

I hope this spreads some babydust to everyone else and that you all get the positives results you are waiting for
