Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Today is my first day of healthy eating...so here I am eating porridge and boiling eggs!

Off to make myself a little hamper of fruit, yoghurt, carrot sticks, boiled eggs and various fruit and green teas!

Must keep my morning builder's brew though to act like a normal human being wake myself up.

I definitely feel differently about eating healthier knowing that it's for TTC rather than just losing weight.....

Morning stumblymonkey! This will be day three for me of the healthy eating. I always find the first two days easy, the next few hard and then if I stick at it I find It's not to bad to stick at. Even though I'm doing it to lose weight, because the weight loss is so I can ttc I feel much more motivated than I ever have. X

Loki17 · 04/01/2016 09:24

I'm starting with healthy eating today. I'm back to taking prenatal vitamins as I want to give them time to build up in my system before we try. Thanks for all of your kind words. I'm really glad I found this thread.

Writerwannabe83 · 04/01/2016 12:18

Welcome newbies!! The thread is really picking up pace now!!

My doctor just phoned me and my referral to the epilepsy pregnancy specialist has been done and I've got an appointment in 3 weeks to have my Coil out!! I'm so excited!

Having the Coil has absolutely killed my sex drive so I'm hoping things return to normal once it is out otherwise TTC is going to be very difficult!! Grin

stumblymonkey · 04/01/2016 13:08

We need to revive our sex life too....my drive is low because I'm on anti-d's for my bipolar disorder and we just seem to have got out of the habit since we moved in together in August.

Before that it would be 2-3 times a week as we'd have sex when we saw each other. Now we can have it anytime we want to we don't at all....Alice...we make you look like sex addicts Shock

One of my five hundred and twenty three many NY resolutions is to initiate it more often. Poor guy won't know what's hit him!

Between my Coil and general exhaustion from non-sleeping DS and my job me and DH have only had sex about ten times in 18 months Shock Grin

Felipa · 04/01/2016 14:18

Welcome to everyone! There seem to be a lot of us who have previously suffered miscarriages. Really hope this is our year to have a baby!

This is day one of healthy eating for me...haven't managed to cut down caffeine today but small steps! Going to try and exercise at least three times a week, starting tonight.

toffeeboffin · 04/01/2016 15:30

Morning everyone! (or at least it is here, live in Canada)

First Monday back at work - not that bad really, work is quiet, so am trying to just get on with things.

Feel really good today - must be all the spinach I've been eating, ha!

Only had one coffee this morning which is good for me. Was tempted to buy one on the walk to work, but by the time I would have got to work it would have been cold anyway - minus 15 here today! Yikes.

Will stick to tea and water instead.

Loki, hope you are feeling better. Read your posts on the Miscarriage Support thread - I'm so sorry. It's so hard isn't it?

I'm the same, Stumbly my DH is not gonna know what's hit him soon, I am going to be jumping on the poor guy every night!

Have a good day everyone.

TheresaMarie55 · 04/01/2016 16:52

Hi all, I've been good with the diet again, really feel I've got the right midset for it now. My sex drive has been up and down since having my second. The pill definitely effects it though, confident it will rise more once I'm off the pill. We average at 1-2 times a week at the moment so not bad but we have the odd time were we go over a week. DH is tired with work sometimes but is more than happy to oblige 😂 . I should start initiating more though to x

Vanillaradio · 04/01/2016 18:05

Yeah, sex hasn't been happening a whole lot here either since ds's birth, due largely to my general exhaustion! I think dh is quite looking forward to ttc for that reason alone!
My sympathies go to those who have suffered losses, I have friends who have been through similar and have seen how hard it is. It does seem to happen a lot but I guess knowing that doesn't help, because you just want that one baby you lost.
I hope for a good year for all of us.

Pointlessfan · 04/01/2016 19:22

Caffeine reduction has given me headache, not good!

TheresaMarie55 · 04/01/2016 20:09

Oh dear, hopefully after a week or so of cutting it down and drinking plenty of water you will be ok x

AliceScarlett · 04/01/2016 20:22

Just read on the Internet that peas and soya are natural contraceptives!...not sure how much evidence there is for that though. I'm not being very relaxed here...maybe I should jump threads!

stumblymonkey · 04/01/2016 20:49

Well....heathy eating day one is done. Just finished off the Hairy Dieter's chicken jalfrezi with roast chicken leftover from yesterday...can recommend!

Now preparing to make homemade stock from the carcass. Seriously I have come over all 1950's housewife since I've been feeling broody...coincidence? Anyone else sort of 'nesting'?

DP isn't exactly complaining about the sudden spurt in homemaking though he does his fair share too...

Just on my January period....so thinking only two more of them to go before we start TTC which is madness!

Toffee...didn't realise you were in Canada! Minus 15....wow! No wonder you're craving hot drinks! Brew

That curry sounds yummy! That's very exciting stuff, two more and then officially ttc! I came off my totm a couple of days ago. If I've lost the amount of weight I want to by the end of my March totm I'm gonna br so tempted to come off the pill. We've said I will come off after April's pills but we'll see. I'm due on again last week of January, last week of February and then around the 20th of march (easy to know when on the pill) . This means the earliest I could fall pregnant I'd early April which I wouldn't mind at all and ideally we would like a baby born between January and May. Obviously I'll be happy as long as we get pregnant lol but does no harm to plan! X

YogaYoga · 04/01/2016 21:15

Oh my, Alice that's so exciting you get to start TTC! Hmm, I think your plan re gently encouraging him during your fertile period is good! BTW LOVE that terminology :)

Vanilla so glad to meet you, its so frustrating having to wait. Wish I'd taken better care of my diabetes ages ago so I could just get cracking now! My last HBa1C was 8.4 and my doctor said they need it down to less than 6.5, eek! Will keep fx for your next appointment in Jan.

Writer I totally get you when you said you sometimes hate the fact that you can't just simply want a baby and have one. Its a pain in the arse! And so exciting that you got your referral and are getting the coil out!

Stumbly I am testing so much! I am decorating, and cooking, and even considered taking up knitting! No coincidence I am sure.

I too am worried about how often we DTD, we used to do it several times a week, but I have put on weight in the past couple of years and now I feel gross and unsexy. I need to lose weight and get initiating, otherwise this baby aint gonna happen!

And to all the ladies who have MC I am so sorry, it's heartbreaking, FX for smooth journeys from here out!

Pointlessfan · 05/01/2016 09:54

Have bought my folic acid! Asda had an own brand one, 180 tablets for £1 - bargain!

Writerwannabe83 · 05/01/2016 10:38

Wow - that's a good price!!

I had an absolutely horrendous night with DS last night (21 months) and am now seriously considering if I'm mad to consider having another Sad

Avriljen · 05/01/2016 11:18

I know this is meant to be relaxed ttc but I'm already overthinking everything! We are def not going to be trying until March (ovia says fertile period first week March) we are away on a skiing holiday so I know it would be silly/dangerous to be pregnant when we go, if anything happened then I wouldn't forgive myself. But I really want to try sooner, it's like a switch has flipped now it's the new year!

Avriljen · 05/01/2016 11:22

The other thing that I can't stop thinking about is that I'm bridesmaid for my best friend in June, there is potential for me to be 16-17 weeks pregnant, or not at all. We are looking at ordering dresses now but nobody knows I am ttc and I don't want to mention to bride in case doesn't happen quickly, don't want the pressure. But what if it happens quickly and then my dress doesn't fit? I've convinced everyone that the flowy dresses are the nicest so it won't be super fitted so should be ok, but still worried. What would you do? Would I be showing by that stage? I don't want to wait to ttc as already desperate to get started!!

Pointlessfan · 05/01/2016 12:06

Avriljen I wasn't showing so that anyone noticed until about 20 weeks with DD but I was in maternity trousers before then as normal ones felt a bit tight. Obviously everyone is different but I'd have been fine in a flowing dress at that stage.
Writer we've been having awful nights with our 21 month old too, it is making me think I must be mad to want to go through it all again!

TheresaMarie55 · 05/01/2016 13:07

Afternoon everyone. Hope hose having bad nights start getting more rest. My 14 month old still gets in with me at least once in the night and my 3 year old often ends up in with us. We need a bigger bed lol.

I think a flowy dress will be fine Avril, will this be your first? With my first I didn't have a proper bump until around 16 weeks. second time people could guess from around 8 weeks though lol x

AliceScarlett · 05/01/2016 13:42

Avril, I'm sure you could have the dress taken out slightly if you needed too, be worth it to not have to wait too long :)

I was sucked into buying slightly more expensive superdrug pregnancy vitamins, I was planning to take a multi vitamin and cheap folic acid but the multivitamin said don't take if you're planning to get pregnant!! So I got ruffled and got the expensive ones Hmm oh well.

Tomorrow is the day I'd normally put my patch on...now I'm slightly freaking out, typical, wanted this time to come for years and now its here I'm getting cold feet.

Avriljen · 05/01/2016 14:05

Thanks girls - sorry I don't know how to tag you all! This will be my first and I have quite a strong core so fingers crossed would be able to still fit a dress, although I suppose everyone develops differently, but I'm maybe being a bit optimistic thinking it would happen first cycle anyway!

I'm taking normal multivits just now with some cheap folic acid just to use up my supply as took multivits anyway. I've got some seven seas trying for a baby to start in the next couple of week but it doesn't have as many types of vits as my usual multivits but obviously has all the correct ones for ttc, and no vit a. I was tempted by pregnacare as more of a range of vits but saw some posts on here saying it messed up people's cycles. Anyone got anyone experience of this? My cycle is long (35d) and sometimes irregular anyway so don't want to risk messing it up more!

YogaYoga · 05/01/2016 14:37

I'm not taking specific TTC multivits, but am taking: 5mg Folic Acid, Calcium, Iron, D, B, and C.

I wish my cycles would start to get back to normal already. It's my first month off the pill and I am pretty sure I didn't ovulate Confused
