Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

No further news on my side really. Caved and used an Internet early detection cheapie today which was a very definite BFN.

Four or five days until AF is due. Not feeling at all pregnant and just have a feeling nothing will happen until I shift some of my masses of extra weight. I sort of think it would be a miracle to get pregnant hoiking this much extra weight around.

Started SW this evening at my first meeting so excited to start seeing the number on the scales coming down!

I feel silly and like I'm just spouting random facts, but I think I heard of a study recently that showed that a woman CAN ovulate twice in one cycle, but I think it's within 24 hours or something. Crazy.

mangocoveredlamb · 16/02/2016 22:40

I honk you're right wispa, isn't that how non identical twins happen?

mangocoveredlamb · 16/02/2016 22:40

I honk?!? Oh god I meant I think!

mangocoveredlamb · 16/02/2016 22:42

I'm 5 dpo here. Reminding myself that I'm supposed to be relaxed is balling with the symptom spotting.
I have terrible terrible heartburn, which was an early symptom for me with DD, but I suspect it's more to do with the large cupcake I had at lunch (having previously given up sugar since Christmas!)

mangocoveredlamb · 16/02/2016 22:42

Helping not balling. I'm going to bed, these typos are killing me!

Nimisha · 17/02/2016 09:34

I'm still waiting to have my coil out, got an appointment at the hospital mid March but as I've had two failed attempts I don't know if I will have to wait longer for a procedure or something.

I'm using fertility friend in the mean time to chart my cycle. I like it better than Ovia but I'm getting to the end of my free trial and I don't know whether to stump up for VIP membership. Anyone get any tips to get it cheaper?

SoozC · 17/02/2016 09:42

Welcome, Feta!

Stumbly, I think we're cycle twins. My AF also due in about 5 days and I do SW! Lost 6 1/2 lbs since beginning of the year. I haven't had many other symptoms, or else I think I'm imagining them.

Wispa - I'm still having normal coffee at home once or twice a day but drinking decaf from coffee shops and at work because I drink A LOT!

In other news, my cm seems to have dried up. So I think I'm going to be out this cycle :( Not going to poas until Friday or even Saturday if I can hold out!

Pointlessfan · 17/02/2016 19:23

Welcome newcomers!
I think I'm ovulating, about 5 days earlier than I'd calculated. Thinking about it I think this has been the case for the last couple of cycles but I just stuck with the dates.

AliceScarlett · 17/02/2016 19:49

Welcome new people :)

I've just finished reading "Taking charge of your fertility" highly recommend it. Makes me cross I thought relying on Ovia was a good idea, I didn't realise that charting CM was a primary fertility sign and this ov'ing on day 14 thing is a myth.
It also spoke about coming off hormonal contraception and how much that can impact your first few cycles. I'm charting CM everyday and getting confused about it when I'm not actually having a "normal" cycle yet really, 2nd cycle off BC in 15 years! The book says the pill can cause CM to be scant, overly creamy or create multiple patches of EWCM regardless of ovulation....I don't know when I'm ovulating yet, need to accept that.

On that note we have dtd with swimmers 3 times (twice without, DH never gets precum) this month and I'm having a good symptom spot today. No idea how many dpo I am or even if I have ov'd but my nipples are super sensitive and I'm SO bloated, also been getting up twice a night to wee....probably nothing but impossible to tell, I don't know what my body is like off contraception yet. Need to accept that! Tolerate uncertainty.

stumblymonkey · 17/02/2016 21:16

The book sounds interesting...might invest in that and I've also heard 'Expecting Better' is a good one for actual pregnancy.

I need to start taking more notice of what's going on with my CM.

I have some creamy CM today which can he a symptom if it's in the run up to AF but I definitely don't feel preggers so I think it's just playing with me!

I've had a dull lower abdomen ache most of today. I don't think it's an AF symptom because I get my AF stomachache the day before, quite bad. This is just...a pressing-type feeling below my bellybutton. But still no CM.

Fx for people who are testing soon.

thisisbloodyridiculous · 17/02/2016 21:39

stumbly Expecting Better is really good I read it just after we decided to start TTC Grin

Alice I know how you're feeling. I'm frustrated with not knowing what's going on with my ovulating post pill! Feel like it just makes the whole thing much more confusing!

thisisbloodyridiculous · 17/02/2016 21:40

SoozC omg I've had the same thing all day! Didn't know how to describe it to DH but a pressing sort of sensation is exactly right! Hope it is a sign for you Smile

wispaxmas · 17/02/2016 22:05

alice, that's interesting, I didn't know the pill effected CM like that. If you really did want to be sure of when you ovulate you could always temp, but I know it's not for everyone.

wispaxmas · 17/02/2016 22:07

nim I think I paid for VIP membership for 3 months last time after my trial ended and fell the first month of that! I think the only extra thing I paid attn to was the traffic light system, but I've been charting without VIP this time around and don't feel the need to cough up for extras.

wispaxmas · 17/02/2016 22:09

sooz, I drink looooads of coffee as well, so I did switch about half to decaf. I think I bought 300 decaf Nespresso pods last time I was pregnant GrinBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

wispaxmas · 17/02/2016 22:10

stumbly, I really can't recommend Expecting Better enough! It's the only pregnancy book anyone needs, really.

TheresaMarie55 · 18/02/2016 06:01

Just checking in, some people are.quite close to testing now Grin will have my fingers crossed for you. I've got two pills left in this packet then just two packs to go, eek! Lost another 2 and a half lbs at weigh in yesterday so definitely on track, only 20.5lbs until my goal now!

I personally don't track anything really when ttc. We just try to dtd as often as possible but I understand for others it's not.always as easy as that. I normally have very regular cycles to so pretty easy to know if I'm ovulating. When I am we dtd most days. X

SoozC · 18/02/2016 08:58

thisisbloodyridiculous - still got the feeling this morning but a BFN. No idea what's going on anymore!

wispa - I really find decaf not as nice. Bit sad! But I do drink a lot of coffee so have to cut down somehow. It'll be good for me even if I don't get pregnant!

Pointlessfan · 18/02/2016 09:50

I'm so confused. From age of about 15 until I conceived DD I have always had EWCM and sharp ovulation pain so always known when ovulating. Then I was pregnant, then breastfeeding so had no periods for almost 2 years. Since they have returned they have been heavier but shorter, no CM whatsoever and no pain. I get a bit of light spotting about a week after my period which I think could be an ovulation sign but it occurred to me at 4am that I might not be ovulating at all. If I'm not is that it for me? Or will it start again eventually, like coming off the pill??

stumblymonkey · 18/02/2016 09:58

Pointless. The only real way to know whether you are ovulating is to take your temp every day and chart it.

I will be doing this next month as I'm not sure if I'm ovulating and I want to check.

If you're not ovulating there are meds the GP can prescribe to start it again.

OP posts:
AliceScarlett · 18/02/2016 10:07

Remember though that not everyone has a temp rise, Professor Robert Winston says less than half! You can get a false negative.

stumblymonkey · 18/02/2016 10:29

Oh really? Argh!

It's a minefield!!!

thisisbloodyridiculous · 18/02/2016 10:55

SoozC ditto again! Still got it but BFN for me this morning. Wtf!
