Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

I think I'm going to wait until April before I start temping just because we're going away over Easter and I want to relax without stressing about it, plus I'll have been trying for 4 months by then.

dynia · 18/02/2016 14:01

First post-Cerazette period arrived last night (I didn't have any bleeding after coming off and seemed to have signs of ovulation - EWCM, tender breasts). I didn't have much warning it was starting - a slightly grumbly tummy but I had eaten meat (which I don't normally eat) so I was a bit surprised.

25 days between last pill and period - historically my period has lasted 3 days. I start temping after this finishes, right?

Probably not going to try this cycle in the unlikely event it happened right away (interfering with teaching) but pretty excited that things seem to be working normally!

AliceScarlett · 18/02/2016 15:00

Day one of blood not just spotting is cycle day one :)

dynia · 18/02/2016 15:16

AliceScarlett Thanks, for some reason it didn't click that your period was the end of your cycle. Have started tracking on FF.

AliceScarlett · 18/02/2016 15:41

I like FF, think it is the most scientific one.

Pointlessfan · 18/02/2016 18:48

Feeling more positive this evening. Realised I've been calculating my cycle slightly wrong!

redstrawberries101 · 18/02/2016 20:06

Hi everyone just checking in again. Theresa I recognise you from when I posted a while ago on this thread, well done on your weight loss! You are putting me to shame. I have about a stone to lose. Had a lot going on recently including a miscarriage last month so not beating myself up about it.

Just finished my first period post miscarriage, it was quite normal thankfully. I still feel a bit emotionally erratic though. I don't think we will
bother using contraception but am not going to actively start trying yet if that makes sense. Just take it easy for a few months and see what happens. I do feel more positive about it all and it's nice to read how excited people are about this new journey Smile

Lemon27 · 18/02/2016 20:41

Hi everyone wow there's been lots of posts since the last time I was on!

I finished my last pill pack on Tuesday so it's going to be interesting to see how my body reacts over the next few months coming off the pill, like someone else said here I've been on it almost 17 years 😮 We aren't going to properly TTC until May, plan to use condoms till then. Hoping my skin and weight doesn't go haywire from the changes.

Zeetea- I'm the same there are no grandkids in our family's, we are together so long that I think people were expecting it for a while and have almost given up on it now 😂 My parents got themselves a dog last year I think it was a consolation prize for having no grandkids 😂 I think both would be so excited but I know what you mean about feeling the pressure. Altho my sister in law is getting married this summer and I wouldn't be surprised if they had a honeymoon baby as I think they are keen to start a family soon, so that might take the pressure off a bit!

Inspectorpenguin - I'm the same too hoping to just take folic acid and refrain from the temping etc as long as possible - will see how I get on.

I don't know about anyone else but the weather lately just has me hibernating and eating....I'm afraid to step on the scales as need to get back into good habits. I've signed up for a 10k run in April to motivate my lazy ass!!

Good luck to the ladies on the 2ww!

wispaxmas · 18/02/2016 21:29

cheeky, I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks

wispaxmas · 18/02/2016 21:30

pointless, I'm intrigued, how have you been calculating your cycle wrong?

wispaxmas · 18/02/2016 21:32

lemon, good idea with the 10k motivation!! I'm trying to shed a bit of weight, too, probably about a stone before TTC, though I'll still be overweight then.

redstrawberries101 · 18/02/2016 22:18

Bless you wispa, thank you xx

jennymac31 · 19/02/2016 03:06

Hey there. Haven't checked in for a while. Hernia wound still hasn't healed fully & should find out in April whether i'm going to be made redundant! Diet has gone out the window. Put on 3lbs last week & didn't have the heart to go to my weigh-in this week.

Not the best start to 2016!

jennymac31 · 19/02/2016 03:09

On a different note - i'm planning on buying some conception/pregnancy vitamin tablets and I wanted to get some recommendations. Am over 35 so understand I need to take 500mg folic acid but all of the conception packs i've seen only have 400mg folic acid in them.

jennymac31 · 19/02/2016 03:13

I know I might be a bit mad to still consider preparing for ttc when facing possible redundancy but am trying to stay positive. Plus I think (or hope) that taking the vitamins will give me a further push to get back on track with diet/weight loss.

Still feeling very broody!

redstrawberries101 · 19/02/2016 06:40

Hi Jenny, sorry to hear about the potential redundancy. In my opinion,it will never be the 'right time' so don't hold off. You don't know how long it might take to fall pregnant, nor do you know if you'll definitely be made refusing. Just a lot of what ifs. I'm sure you are financially comfortable enough to bring up a child and a baby wouldn't be a total disaster.

I think you can buy folic acid on its own, it might be easier to get 500mg on its own!

Vanillaradio · 19/02/2016 06:53

Jenny for 500mg folic acid you can ask the doctor to prescribe some. The only place I have found it to buy is Amazon.

Nimisha · 19/02/2016 09:27

jenny you could just take 2 *400 mcg folic acid or one standard conception vitamin and a cheapo folic acid. In high risk pregnancy the dose is 5 mg (eg 5000mcg) so you don't need to worry about overdosing I think.

Who has advised you to take 500mcg? I thought in this country they generally advised either 400 mcg or 5mg If high risk (in which case your gp would prescribe it). I found this link.

Flashinthepan · 19/02/2016 10:49

Hello all, can I join? I've been lurking for a while but this thread seems to fit my situation pretty well. 27 and Planning on TTC in May this year (although DH is a bit of a goalpost mover). He's sort of been occasionally lapse in the last month or so contraception wise though, so fingers crossed!

jennymac31 · 19/02/2016 13:20

My apologies Nimisha - I meant 5mg. My pregnancy with dd was deemed high risk due to being overweight/high bmi so its likely that any other pregnancy would also be deemed high risk!

Trying to stay positive and don't really want to put things on hold, as it took 6 months to conceive with dd & i'm over 35 so it might take even longer.

Cateroo · 19/02/2016 13:40

I'm now 10 dpo - BFN tastic and fed up, I know it's still early (ish) but expect to be out this month.

SoozC · 19/02/2016 14:10

thisisbloodyridiculous Another BFN for me today. And I mean, seriously negative, it was so bloody bright it was like the stick was laughing at me :(

Cateroo I know how you're feeling, that's me, too.

I am fully expecting AF tomorrow, due to cramps today. We shall see.

Felipa · 19/02/2016 15:49

9dpo and bfn, of course. Have been squinting at the sticks like a mad woman!!

Cateroo · 19/02/2016 16:09

Sooz I am getting indisputable negatives. Nothing to even suggest the faintest line - except a FRER with an indent that can be seen from space - not very impressed with them.....

I'm now not testing until Tuesday, my period due date.

SoozC · 19/02/2016 16:39

FF suggests I don't test for a week, even though AF due in the next few days. So if it doesn't turn up I'll test next Friday, not before. I get the feeling it'll be here tomorrow though. Fx for everyone!
