Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Does anyone else find it hard to have the energy to dtd? DD is always up early in the morning and by the time she's asleep in the evening and we've tidied up etc we both crash out. It's going to take a long time to conceive at this rate!

AliceScarlett · 26/01/2016 19:50

I can put on 6lbs on my period, then I seem to wee it all out...gross. Really annoying though, hope the weigh in goes well.

Dtd is an effort I agree, life just seems to get in the way. I suggest quickies to DH, seems to help.

TheresaMarie55 · 26/01/2016 20:42

I know what you mean, I'm so tired by the end of the day sometimes and most mornings one or both of the kids are up and if not I try and grab a quick bath before they wake. My dh would dtd pretty much any time if I initiate it but I prefer it to be him lol. I'm still on the pill now but once I come off I'll make more effort x

Hello,

So
I'm 30 and we are going to start trying in about 10 days. Which is weird since I didn't actually think I'd ever get to the point it was imminent. Been taking folic acid last 8 weeks but diet has been rubbish, I have a stressful job and good is my vice. Joining a gym this week though so maybe reality will kick in and I'll sort myself out (BMI of 30).

Anyway, all the best!

Pointlessfan · 27/01/2016 07:19

Hi cateroo!
Not going well here, had one of my occasional and mysterious allergic reactions yesterday and was itching like made so had no choice but to take anti histamine which knocked me out. No dtd here last night, I can't see the bfp happening any time soon.

AliceScarlett · 27/01/2016 10:01

Hi Cateroo!

Pointless sounds so frustrating :( dtd every other day is pretty unachievable for some/a lot of people, is for us for sure.

Well on top of tonsillitis I've got tmi diarrhoea and cramps, yay! Only now do I remember that PMS/AF off contraception is actually horrible.
Consoling myself with knowing I can take ibuprofen when AF arrives, probably later today.

Pointlessfan · 27/01/2016 10:03

That's rubbish alice, hope you feel better soon.

Felipa · 27/01/2016 11:32

AF arrived for me today which may mean that I am now officially in a cycle of TTC!! Eeek.

We had originally decided on next cycle but I am so desperate to start. DH would love to start so if I hint to him he will be very happy. Just too scared to make the final decision.... Stick to our original plan of end of Feb or go for it a month early?!?!

The only deciding factor is that I am bridesmaid in a wedding the first of June and the dress is bought. That is literally the only thing keeping me from making the decision.

TheresaMarie55 · 27/01/2016 12:00

Welcome newbies! Sorry for those not feeling 100% hope you're better soon.

I weighed today 2.4lbs off and I'm on so I think that's pretty darn good! Picked up my last box of pills today, can't wait to finish them. I will be collecting another box though for after. Even though you can start taking the pill again three weeks after my doctor wanted me to wait until six week check, erm, not really his choice! I told my midwife who was not happy with the doctor and made sure I got my pills, just don't want the bother again.

I say go for it felipa! If that's the only thing holding you back I wouldn't let it, I'm sure they can take the dress out if need be. X

Felipa · 27/01/2016 12:36

Thanks TheresaMarie and well done on your weight loss! my heart is saying go for it and my head is saying be sensible.

As I have already been pregnant I know roughly what size I am around the 20 week mark and that's what is panicking me about the dress. Although what are the chances that I would have success this month anyway?! It usually takes me around 2-3 months trying anyway, and even then I've had miscarriages so don't even know why I'm panicking!!

isthatpoisontoo · 27/01/2016 14:16

Felipa, it only takes once! I wouldn't delay it for someone else's wedding, but you really could get pregnant first month.

Vanillaradio · 27/01/2016 16:06

Yes bridesmaids dress is one of the reasons I am currently stressing after promising myself it wouldn't affect anything. It is so fitted around boobs and my boobs were enormous in early pregnancy last time. It's a high street dress so may not be possible to alter.

Other things I am thinking about is holiday booked in May and might be nice to be able to drink and financial reasons, might be better to have a few months before mat leave when ds's free hours at nursery kick in so we can save.
On the other hand, there could be reasons to put it off forever, so I am tending towards just dropping contraception, currently condoms, in April and letting what happens happen. ......

jennymac31 · 27/01/2016 17:52

Evening ladies.

Haven't posted anything for a while, as I had to have an emergency hernia operation on Saturday! I'm still quite sore & slimming world has gone out the Window this week (put on 2lbs at weigh-in yesterday). Yet despite being in pain, my urge ttc has now picked up a gear! Wasn't planning on trying until end of February, as I was gonna come off the pill after my birthday, but have now got babies on the brain. Don't think it helps that dh doesn't want to start ttc until march/April.

Hope everyone's ok xx

Pointlessfan · 27/01/2016 19:50

jenny you poor thing! Hope you are feeling better now.

Cateroo · 27/01/2016 21:46

Get well soon!

I have my first TTC challenge approaching - the Big Weekend Away. It'll be two days prior to ovulation and personally I'm a bit scared of drinking that close (I know how my brain works and I'll just fret) so know I need to abstain. But it will be very tricky to get through the weekend unquestioned. Tips required!

stumblymonkey · 27/01/2016 22:27

Oh no....how are you feeling after the op Jenny?

Not much going on here....AF is here so waiting for that to finish.

Started taking evening primrose oil as I've read that can help with TTC but you're only supposed to take it for the first two weeks of your cycle and then stop for the second two weeks.

thisisbloodyridiculous · 27/01/2016 23:33

Hope you're ok Jenny that sounds really scary!! Take care.

I've just taken the last pill of my last pill packet - !!!!! Shock can't believe it's come around so quickly it felt like the other I was talking about it being 6 months away! Exciting though.

I agree DTD every other day might kill me! I'm so exhausted at the end of the day I usually struggle to drag myself up to bed! Maybe an earlier bedtime is the key?

thisisbloodyridiculous · 27/01/2016 23:34

Oo and Cateroo excuse for not drinking could be you're on antibiotics ?

stumblymonkey · 28/01/2016 06:58

This....welcome to the club. It's very strange having unprotected D of TD when you've tried for so long NOT to get pregnant!

Cateroo...I agree, antibiotics is a good excuse or perhaps you've started dry January very, very late? Grin

OP posts:
Cateroo · 28/01/2016 07:45

Agreed - have spent whole adult life swerving pregnancy, it is a weird feeling! And antibiotics, of course, classic.

mangocoveredlamb · 28/01/2016 09:54

Bad luck Jenny!

I've gone a bit bad looking a cycle tracking apps and things!

14 weeks to go for me, which seems like a lifetime!!

jennymac31 · 28/01/2016 11:11

I'm still quite sore and the wound just doesn't seem to want to heal properly (been back to the doctors twice already this week). Trying not to let it get me down but its difficult not being very mobile, especially when my dd just wants to play with her mummy!

jennymac31 · 28/01/2016 11:14

Cateroo - antibiotics are a good excuse to use. Unfortunately when I tried to use that as an excuse during the early weeks of pregnancy with dd all of my friends/work colleagues cottoned on that I was pregnant, as they all knew I liked a drink or two!

TheresaMarie55 · 28/01/2016 15:22

Cateroo, not sure if it would work for you but I went to a party on Saturday and didn't drink. I'm not pregnant and still on the pill but am dieting so that was the reason. I will be having a drink this Saturday though as its my treat day (have one a month). Two people asked why I wasn't drinking as I like a drink at a family party and I just told them I wouldn't be able to resist the buffet lol, it was the truth. You can always say antibiotics but it's whether you think they'll believe you x

thisisbloodyridiculous · 28/01/2016 15:37

I am so broody today!! Got babies on the brain! Will only get worse as it's my friends baby shower on Saturday Grin

OH seems to be getting more on board though with little comments he's made... TMI but I'm being a bit too optimistic & thinking if we DTD over the weekend we might get lucky Wink it happened three days after finishing the pill for my friend so I guess anything could happen [/wishfulthinking]
