Hope it's not too presumptuous but the last thread was nearly full so thought I'd get a new one ready!

Hi jes I asked my consultant if short /light periods would be an issue and she said probably not. You might need an ultrasound to check your linning is ok. My periods only last 3 days and I have apparently a lovely linning.
I suspect if you ask three gynaecologists that question you may get 3 slightly differing answers.
If you wanted to try suppliments vit b complex and selenium may help you linning thinkness and then period? Don't take any high strength suppliments for too long without checking with a doctor however.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 25/01/2016 13:41

Hi ladies how are you all getting on?

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I hope 2016 brings you all a BFP. Keep going & don't lose hope. I was close to giving up myself & obviously so happy that I didn't now. I hope you've all booked nice holidays this year.

MagpieCursedTea · 25/01/2016 16:26

Hi beaut! How are you doing?

Amy how did you get on today?

Hope everyone is having a good start to their week! No change for me, still bleeding, still no word on the appeal.

magpie my ultrasound is only at 19:20 tonight!

Strange time i know and ive got a feeling that it'll be a separate surgery away from everyone who is pregnant xx

Any tips on when to drink the dreaded pint + water?!

FuzzyOwl · 25/01/2016 16:57

Sorry about your referral Blue.

Welcome JES.

Sorry about your dad Rainy and good luck with the race for life.

Hope it goes well tonight Amy. I find the sonographer is often late so I have ended up having to go to the loo whilst waiting but usually you will be sent back to the waiting room to drink more if you haven't had enough.

MagpieCursedTea · 25/01/2016 17:40

I started drinking the water about 2 hours beforehand (as instructed in my letter) and was pacing/dancing round the waiting room as I felt like my bladder was going to burst. I might've overdone it a little bit, best wee ever afterwards though Grin

Better start now then! Lol

MagpieCursedTea · 25/01/2016 18:31

I just had a call from my GP, the referral has been accepted! He said it was "after lots of email correspondence" so I got the impression he had to talk them into it but I'm so pleased. I have to book blood tests with the nurse at my surgery as well. Hopefully there'll be an end to this bleeding and I'll start getting somewhere.

loopylou1984 · 25/01/2016 18:52

Magpie!! That's brilliant news! Your GP sounds amazing! Xx

blueberry549 · 25/01/2016 18:53

Thanks for all the messages of comfort everyone.

magpie so happy to hear your referral has gone through! Really hope they get you sorted.

Went to see my GP this morning and he is now trying to refer me to Gyno re: 'irregular bleeding' and get some investigations done that way. He also repeated blood tests so we'll see what (if anything) comes from that.

Sorry for TMI but currently bleeding very heavily with lots of clots and constantly desperate for the loo! No sign of infection but seems to happen to me when AF arrives. It's very uncomfortable :(

Was actually quite funny when GP was asking about period and cycle length as I had to say 'depends which month!' and give him a snapshot from my app re some months none at all, some months constant bleed, some spotting in between, others just heavy AF etc - basically all over the place since last summer. My cycles have lasted from 19 to 57 days and my bleeds from 3 to 27 days!

He has also given me some Norithisterone (sp?) to 'kickstart my cycle' but warned me it would mean delaying my bfp by at least another month. But after 14 mths of TTC I figured I don't have much to lose, espeically if fertility clinic have rejected me. 2 more stone to lose before they'll see me!

Good luck with the ultrasound tonight Amy and fx for everyone else hoping for bfp soon xx

Kellz92 · 25/01/2016 19:45

How are we all doing. I've been quiet because I'm feeling a bit low. I peaked today dtd hoping this is my month. Not been feeling great lately, a lot of migraines so it's been difficult X

AmyC86 · 25/01/2016 20:12

Hi everyone, just got back from my ultrasound & it's not good news.

Last time I had a scan it came back clear (around 2 years ago) tonight I was told by the sornographer that both overvies are coated in what looks like small cysts. I didn't think that I'd be as gutted as I am but this has come as a huge blow, not stopped crying since walking out of the hospital.

Has anyone got/ had any experience of PCOS and a successful pregnancy? Is there surgery to remove the cysts?!

MagpieCursedTea · 25/01/2016 20:18

Sorry to hear that amy, I think the good news is that it is possible to get pregnant when you have PCOS. I have a friend who has it, she has two children, one conceived with the help of clomid and one naturally. Have you got an appointment to talk about your next steps?

Kellz sorry to hear you've been feeling low, migraines are awful!

OP posts:
heydiddlediddle123 · 25/01/2016 20:21

Thanks for doing the stats Nomio ☺️👍 and great news on your referral!!

AmyC86 so sorry to hear that hun 😣 I don't have any knowledge on PCOS but I'm sure someone here will have some words of wisdom encouragement! What have they said to you with regards to follow up etc..?

jes12 hello & welcome 👋😃

rainy sounds like you've had a horrible time of things lately. Hope things turn around and you have a good appointment with the fertility clinic Thanks

Great to hear your about your referral magpie. You're GP does sounds fab!

I'm gearing up for baby dance week! Lots and lots of water, healthy eating early nights and yoga 😇

FuzzyOwl · 25/01/2016 20:23

So pleased for you Magpie! Brilliant news.

What tests have been done Blueberry? That level of bleeding sounds horrific and I really hope that a gynae will accept the referral regardless of your weight. Well done as well on the loss so far and hopefully the last couple of stones aren't too stubborn.

Oh Kellz, migraines are so horrible and hopefully the massage I suggested will help. Really hope it is your month too.

Amy One of my closest friends has PCOS and was unable to conceive, despite years of trying. However, two cycles on clomid and she had her first child. A couple of years later and another couple of cycles on clomid and she is due her second child. What did the sonographer say are the next steps? Is it back to your GP or a referral to a gynae?

AmyC86 · 25/01/2016 20:53

It was gyne that sent me for the scan, i already have had all the possible tests around 2 years ago but decided to have a break in TTCing.

Got my follow up with consultant on the 29th Feb. Fingers crossed that it won't be that awful.

Thanks for your kind words, i'm trying to keep my emotions under control as it won't help matters xx

DizzyNorthernBird · 25/01/2016 22:29

Welcome to my world amy Sad. Sorry to hear you're cursed with the cysts too. I'm lead to believe it shouldn't prevent a bfp though so try not to let it get you down.

I've got my follow up appt this Thursday so will let you know what's discussed. I'm still seeing my GP though, not a consultant, so I'm not expecting much.

AmyC86 · 25/01/2016 23:20

Isn't it awful dizzy obviously people have mentioned it before, but the actual realisation is absolutely awful.

blueberry549 · 26/01/2016 00:03

Sorry to hear about the scan Amy - if it's any comfort my mum had PCOS and still had me, then even had to have an ovary removed and still managed to have my sister!

Have another friend who also conceived natually with PCOS too, so don't lose hope. Will depend on how bad it is, how much scarring etc. The consultant at follow up will hopefully be able to tell you more, but don't despair just yet.

Dizzy I had my day 2 & 21 done last year and they found no indication of ovulation that cycle (i.e. low progesterone), but tbh with my cycle so erratic that doesn't surprise me. They also did ultrasound and found nothing obvious (i.e. no cysts or fibroids etc) although they could only see one ovary. Doc has now repeated bloods so we'll see if that throws up anything, but suspect will come back same as before.

I think i'll be a bit stuck until I can see a specialist, so just got to hope gyno will see me, or will have to wait til i've shifted the rest of this weight!

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough hun

BorisIsBack · 26/01/2016 15:57

magpie brilliant news :)

amy I'm sorry lovely. I've seen a few women on these boards conceive despite pcos. As others have said keep the faith. You will get your baby.

As for me I've had a cycle of wierdness AF came today on cd 15, I had no possitive opks all month and spotting most days. I had a horrible smear test yesterday where she couldn't find my cervix and hurt me internally. As a result if AF coming early I haven't got hold of the drugs to start ivf next cycle so I'll have to wait till March, another month. I shut myself in the toilet most of the day at work today. Life felt so unfair. It's been 20 months already of trying, more than 20 failed cycles. Botched tests by the doctor. False hope. I got myself psyched to go to the Czech republic in a few weeks to start ivf, even booked time off work, all of which will come to nothing. Bah.

MagpieCursedTea · 26/01/2016 17:31

Boris that all sounds pretty unpleasant. I'm wondering if it's not actually AF but some bleeding caused by your smear test? Especially if she hurt you. Massive hugs for you, you've had a rough couple of days!

Blueberry hope you get your gynaecologist appointment soon, I'm sure your weight won't be a barrier to them seeing you as it's for the bleeding rather than directly for fertility.

DizzyN all the best for your appointment on Thursday. Hopefully you'll be able to plan your next steps with your GP.

Amy how are you feeling today? Hoping that the positive stories of others with PCOS getting their BFPs are helping you a little bit.

Hey sending positive thoughts for your fertile week! Enjoy all the DTD and yoga, maybe not at the same time. Although you never know, it might help Wink

The secretary from my doctors phoned to confirm that my referral had been accepted. I've also booked my blood tests but they can't fit me in until 9th Feb as two of the nurses are off sick. So much waiting!

OP posts:
DizzyNorthernBird · 26/01/2016 19:26

I know amy I went for my scan fully expecting to be told I had pco (still don't know if I have the syndrome so I'm just calling it pco for now!) but I still got a shock to hear the sonographer say it and I still had a cry on the drive home. Then I pulled myself together and focused on feeling relieved that I finally had an explanation...... No more worrying about thyroid disease/early menopause/false negative chlamydia test results etc etc...I just have cysts on my ovaries and its common and treatable!

blueberry fx for better test results this time and a quick referral!

boris sorry for early af...but is it definitely af? Could the nurse have injured you? I'm so sorry to hear your plans are spoiled, the law of sod strikes again. It seems like everyone who finally gets their ivf has one last hurdle thrown at them.......?

sammy how's things going with you?

Thanks magpie, I'm looking forward to the appointment but I expect she'll just want to do another blood test then preach at me about waiting for DP's sperm results! If I go with zero expectations then I can't be disappointed! That's great news about your referral, not long until Feb, hang on in there!

Cd23 here, big temp drop this morning and a shed load of wet cm so I'm hoping my ovaries will finally chuck an egg out....that would make a 37 day cycle this month with seems to be about average these days. DP is out for dinner but I've got him lined up to dtd when he gets home. Otherwise we've done it on cd19 and 21 and I'll see if I can squeeze an extra one out of him tomorrow or Thursday if my temp does start to rise. Roll on tww and another month of dithery ovaries behind me!!

loopylou1984 · 26/01/2016 20:15

Hey dizzy!

I'm cd30 today, expecting a temp drop tomorrow or Thursday. Then just St one more cycle until we attempt IVF again.

Magpie - the waiting sucks, but I'm so pleased they're seeing you :) xx

AmyC86 · 26/01/2016 21:13

Yes Ladies, today I have felt better about it & spoken to a select few in work about it & they also know people who have PCOS who are Mummy's which is positive.

I'm just holding out for my appointment on the 29th xx

Once again, thanks to you all for your support.

Nomio23 · 26/01/2016 21:30

I am pleased you are feeling a bit happier today, Amy. As others have said, I know several people who have conceived with PCOS. You still have a really good chance. Smile

Boris, sorry to hear about your horrible smear. I have had bleeding after nasty ones, but it normally stops after a few hours. Maybe yours is just an especially bad reaction. Sending you hugs.

Blueberry, my BMI was over 30 when I had a similar thing & I was still referred for the bleeding. I had to lose weight before they would do anything fertility wise, but only because treatments don't tend to work if you are overweight.

DizzyN, fingers crossed for that little egg!

I got my positive OPK earlier, so it is Cock o Clock for us tonight! Wink

Sammy, I still have my fingers crossed you will get your miracle BFP naturally.
