When to expect period - Provera

EllaMenoPea · 06/10/2015 09:42

As above really. I finished 5 days of Provera on Saturday to induce a bleed to start Clomid. When should I expect a period? Just wondering if anyone has any experiences. Google is telling me lots of different times. Getting impatient Blush

Good luck tomorrow Boggle! I think the ovarian drilling sounds really hopeful.

Ella what date are you off to CP?

Amy any more signs of AF?

I had my first scan today, and the menopur seems to be working! I had a 6.5mm lining with a triple stripe (apparently this is a good thing) so it is 'thickening up nicely'. I've got 14 follicles on one side, 12 on the other, and a few heading towards 10mm. The nurse seemed pretty happy for this stage in the cycle, told me to keep stabbing at the same dose and go back on Friday for another scan.

On the downside, they've just announced that NHS fertility funding is being slashed in my area. I don't know what it means for me yet, if I'll have less menopur rounds or less IVF rounds or both. But what crappy timing Sad.

EllaMenoPea · 07/06/2016 22:10

You won't need them robber! I clearly remember them saying the triple stripe thing to me on the month I conceived DD...you've got loads of follicles too...nice work! Good luck for Friday Smile what cd are you on?

OP posts:
RobberBride · 07/06/2016 22:28

Thanks Ella Smile I'm on day 8 of stabbing, not sure what that translates to in CD terms on Menopur. I stabbed myself tonight as DH was out, quite proud of myself!

YouBoggleMyMind · 07/06/2016 23:24

I'll keep you guys in the loop, of course.

Did you start stabbing on day 1 of AF robber? Glad things sound promising and are going in the right direction! Don't worry about the funding, it doesn't meant too much right now and it'll prolly come into action when you're good and pregnant anyway!

I'm lying in bed scared of the thunder storm above my head SadSadSad

AmyC86 · 08/06/2016 08:36

No AF - CD45

BFN Monday
BFN Tuesday

Don't know what that random spotting was the other day x

Tryingtowait · 08/06/2016 08:56

Hi guys, this may be the wrong place and if it is I'm sorry! I'm impatient and worrying as I'm on cd 33 of a 29 day cycle. Absolutely convinced myself I would get bfp but still negative on a frer yesterday. So I think it's my pcos playing up after 6 months of 'normal' cycles :(

Does anyone know how long I would have to wait before a gp would induce a bleed so I can go onto my next cycle? Just hate waiting although I'm aware I'm impatient!

Again sorry if this is the wrong thread don't want to jump on someone else's

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/06/2016 10:32

Don't apologise trying, the more the merrier! I'd speak to your GP now and discuss your options. Don't wait! It just leads to more waiting!

I had my scan this morning and I have a lead follicle!!!!!!!! StarStarStar
I have a really good lining too (looks totally different to other scans)
I've been told to DTD and have a progesterone blood test on 17th. I'll then be waiting until after my brothers wedding on 9th July to test.
I went in this morning expecting to talk about lap/dye/drilling and this happened! I can't believe it!!

EllaMenoPea · 08/06/2016 11:09

trying like boggle said I would get in touch with your GP now but they may say wait until cd40.

boggle that is amazing news!!!!!!! Congratulations.....get going! Yay!

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 08/06/2016 12:20

I'm so shocked! I cried when she showed me and confirmed that's what we're looking for!! I might actually be in with a shot! Got to keep calm though, it's like 31 days to go until I'll test!! Longest wait ever!

Tryingtowait · 08/06/2016 12:46

Thanks for the advice guys but af has just come on its own now which I guess is a good thing but would have preferred a bfp! Wishing you guys all the best

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/06/2016 19:10

Any time trying. Please join our thread if you think it'll be helpful. I have the most lovely support here and I don't know what I'd do without these marvellous women SmileSmile

eskimoflo · 08/06/2016 22:09

Just jumping on to cheer on Robber's and Boggle's follicles and linings! I have the pom poms out for both of you. Hurrah!

Also standing by with Lucozade and cold wet towels for Ella in between her DTD-athon. (Obviously I'm outside the bedroom and not just hovering over the bed with these refreshments. That would just be weird...)

Amy So sorry you're facing limbo again. Flowers Hang on in there and hopefully your body will do something proactive soon, or you can start progesterone to get things moving again.

Shout out to Moomin Hope you're doing well!

Love you ladies x x x

RobberBride · 08/06/2016 22:15

Boggle that's amazing! Fistbump for our follies and linings. Break the wait down into little chunks: in just ten days you'll know for sure if you ov'd or not. And get some Lucozade!

Ella hope things (ahem) are going well.

Amy try asking for norethisterone rather than provera this time - it is harsher but sometimes seem to kick the body up a gear.

Eskimo lovely to hear from you! How's your pregnancy?

Moomin hope you're ok?

Trying please feel free to join.

36 hours til my next scan. Feeling impatient...

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/06/2016 22:30

I'd like to rename today follicle Wednesday! I could prolly test sooner but it would be difficult to deal with being at a family wedding. I'll test the next day. I just have all the fingers crossed that it actually might work! I could do with a March 2017 baby!

EllaMenoPea · 09/06/2016 19:04

robber is it scan day tomorrow?? Good luck if so, got such a good feeling for you!

boggle how are you? Are you in the 2WW?!

moomin hope you're OK?

amy any news?

Hope you're well eskimo must be nearly end of term for you?

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 09/06/2016 21:02

I don't know when my 2ww will be! I'm not sure I've ovd yet and it's a month til I test anyway! Xxx

YouBoggleMyMind · 09/06/2016 21:08

I've just realised that this whole situation is completely new and I'm not sure what I'm doing other than DTD and hoping with every ounce of my body that on 10th July I get two lines on a pregnancy test.

EllaMenoPea · 09/06/2016 21:14

You got this boggle 👌🏻

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 09/06/2016 21:42

God I hope so. It was such a shock and now I have to do a monumental amount of waiting xxx

AmyC86 · 09/06/2016 21:44

Nope nothing from this end. Still getting BFNS.

I'm tempted to wait until nearer or after the time of my knee surgery before starting another round of norethisterone. The last thing I need is to not know if I'm pregnant prior to surgery!!

As for the rest, I've been trying a low GL and dairy free (as much as possible) lifestyle and lost 5.5lb in 2 weeks!

Tryingtowait · 09/06/2016 22:03

Thanks guys you all seem lovely and although I haven't read the whole thread just the first few pages I can see how much you ladies have been through and supported each other so much.

Although I don't understand follicles and a lot of the jargon it sounds like a lot of emotional strain. I was just curious do you all suffer with pcos or are there other reasons for the treatments you're going through?

I have a 3 year old ds (complete suprise) so not sure I'd get a lot of help if I went to the gp? Before ds I used to go 6 months at a time with no periods which when not ttc has its advantages! Then I had the depo injection then I literally bled for a year until they finally prescribed northisterone and apart from the lapse this month periods were normalish. I'm now on cycle 7 and have ovulated in 3 months I temped one month was a no go.

amy well done on the weight loss, I really should be doing the same

eskimoflo · 10/06/2016 16:31

Robber It's going well thank you! I'll be 27 weeks on Sunday and I think I'm fairly huge now, although someone told me today that my bump was little and 'neat'! Have you had the scan yet?

Ella 6 weeks left until we break up for the summer! Grin

Amy Congrats on the weight loss!

Boggle You can do this!

Cups hand to mouth and shouts ' Moomin! You out there?'

Welcome Trying. This is categorically the best thread on MN Smile I've been back a few pages and copied and pasted our introductions so you can get to know us. I've updated mine and taken out everyone else's milestones as I think we did this around April time, so they'd be a bit out of date. Since then, our lovely Moomin has bagged herself a BFP too Grin

Here they are:

Name: Eskimoflo
Age: 33
DC: 1 on the way (!) and 2 fur babies- greyhounds
TTC: from Sept 2014 until Dec 2015
Diagnosis: No official diagnosis. Amenorrhoea and annovulation after finishing the pill. Only ovulated twice in 15 months, resulting in 1 ‘natural’ Af and a BFP!
Investigations: Blood tests, Ultrasounds, HsoSY,
Treatment: Clomid (50mg, 100mg, 150mg)
Next milestone: Erm... Baby due 11.09.16! Eeek!
Location: Yorkshire
Most amusing moment as a barren:
Whilst putting in a load of red clothes into the washing machine, I think I've dropped a sock on the way through, so I shout to DH 'Have I dropped anything red?' and he shouts back 'Not for a while...'

Name: RobberBride
Age: Almost 34
DC: None
TTC: #1 since October 2014
Diagnosis: Hypothalamic amenorrhea (lack of ovulation due to an energy deficit) though they occasionally toy with the idea that it might be PCOS
Investigations: Blood tests, ultrasound, HSG, several rounds of Provera and Norethisterone
Treatment: Put ona significant amount of weight, reduced exercise. Five failed rounds of Clomid. Going to start ovulation induction using injectables (Menopur) at end of May
Next milestone:
Location: Southeast
Most amusing moment as a barren: When first telling GP about suspected lack of ovulation - which involved me having to tell her details about my periods since age 14, CM, sex life etc - suddenly the Receptionist hammered on the door and burst into the room. "Doctor! You're leaning on the intercom switch!" The entire consultation had been broadcast to the waiting room, which I then had to slink back through on my way out of the surgery. DH now won't go to that surgery branch, he always goes out of his way to go to the sister surgery

Name: EllaMenoPea
Age: 28
DC: 1 DD (conceived via Clomid first round)
TTC: #2 since September 2014 currently on round 4 of Clomid
Diagnosis: PCO (not the S as I'm not overweight, no excess hair etc)
Investigations: Blood tests, HsoSY, lap & dye
Treatment: Clomid
Next milestone:
Location: Southeast (waves at robber)
Most amusing moment as a barren:
Nothing compared to robbers! Probably would have to be the GP asking if "are you having intercourse vaginally as opposed to anally as you won't get pg anally" no way, thanks Doc.

Name: Moomin37
Age: Very nearly 37
DC: None (just a cat)
TTC: #1 since July 2014
Diagnosis: Hypothelamic amenorreah (lack of ovulation due to an energy deficit)
Investigations: lap and dye / hcosy
Treatment: One round of Clomid and just finishing third round of ovulation induction using injectables (Menopur)
Next milestone:
Location: Southwest
Most amusing moment as a barren: When in hospital after lap and dye was walked down the ward to the toilet by two nurses (I was all wobbly as had very low blood pressure) and it wasn't until several days later it occurred to me that the back of my gown was billowing open and I'd flashed everyone (did have pants on, but even so ).

Name: Amy
Age: 29 (soon 30)
DC: none (although 2 border collies
TTC: since January 2011, but took 12 months out due to getting married.
Diagnosis: PCOS. This is a new diagnosis when investigations where started in 2011 there wasn't any mention of PCOS and tests came back inconclusive.
Investigations: blood tests a plenty, lap and dye, lots of ultrasounds
Treatment: clomid
Next Milestone:
Location: Northwest
Don't understand the embarrassing moment bit ha!

Name: youbogglemymind (boggle for short)
Age: 28
Location: Home Counties
Ttc #1 since July 2014
Diagnosis: pcos
Treatment so far: 3 rounds of clomid (50, 100, 150) with provera to induce AF. Now taking metformin too and starting round 4 of clomid in a couple of weeks.

EllaMenoPea · 10/06/2016 18:24

Thanks eskimo...how are you 27weeks already! So nice to hear things are going well.

trying I've had to go private this time as I already have a DD but I think it varies by area so do check with your GP...they'll need to refer you anyway.

OP posts:
Tryingtowait · 10/06/2016 19:05

Thanks for the intros eskimo much appreciated :) I'm also 28 like I couple of you and I was born and grew up in the southeast before moving to the southwest 4 years ago.

Good old postcode lottery ella I don't know if it's my self-consciousness or I'm doing the right thing but as I know I'm overweight and from reading the pcos board I know that clomid and things aren't offered unless you're a certain bmi so I haven't told my gp I'm ttc I'm trying to lose weight first while ttc so I don't get turned away for being a fat :/

Also my son was born at 31 weeks as he stopped growing properly so I imagine if I do get pregnant I'll be at the Drs/ hospital being monitored more and the amount of time spent there with ds ugh hospitals make me nervous. Also not that they can tell people but in my line of work I work very closely with the Drs so it seems awkward seeing them at work them knowing I'm ttc if that makes sense. But I expect if I wait much longer I'll have to go and see what help I can get.

Can't believe robbers embarrassing moment I would be mortified!

RobberBride · 10/06/2016 22:29

Eskimo so lovely to hear all is going well. Can't believe you're at 27 weeks - that's past the age of viability, it is a real milestone!

Ella how's the DTDathon going?

Moomin please come back and tell me how many follicles you had over 10mm and then what you had when they triggered you. Google is useless for ovulation induction on menopur, I can only find IVF prep stories.

Boggle hope time is going quickly? Also, stupid question, but how come so long til you test? If they think you'll ov this week, surely you'd test in two and a bit weeks?

Trying you're lovely and young, and PCOS seems to respond v well to losing a bit of weight, so I'm sure you'll have another bfp soon.

Amy what date is the surgery? (Sorry if you've already said.)

So, scan news. My least favourite quote of the day was 'cripes, you've got 3 follicles over 11mm. We'd better hope some stop growing or we might have to cancel the cycle.' My favourite quote of the day was 'Oooh, look at that lovely lining. That's perfect, textbook.' Please all keep your fingers crossed that just one or two follies grow this weekend, and that my lining stays lovely. Next scan on Monday morning, and we've been ordered to start our DTDathon tonight.
