Totally get you pear drop on the show front. Currently want to throttle mine as he will not have a sensible conversation about ttc. He keeps saying "if it happens, it happens" having now explained to him at least 690 times that it won't "just happen" thanks to pcos!! Will possibly be up for murder if he says it again! Due to be seen in April by gynae and have explained to him they will likely offer clomid so we need to be 100% ready for it when they offer it! HE JUST DOESNT GET IT!!

peardrop2 · 10/12/2015 19:58

Hah hah Nurse!! Can't we just shove them in a room together until they GET IT? My DH has now today admitted to feeling the pressure now that the spotlight is on him improving his swimmers. OFGS...grow up and just drink the damn water is what I want to scream!! Seriously...he has no idea that many women have to inject themselves and and pop pills etc All he has to do is drink lots of water and pop some pills. If I hadn't had my smiley face this morning I don't think I would be talking to him because I'm that angry about it but I have to play happy wife because I need him Confused

Z - I should be ovulating in a couple of days. Probably Monday or Tuesday.

peardrop2 · 10/12/2015 19:59

I mean Sunday. I should ovulate on Sunday. I really need to count!!

peardrop2 · 10/12/2015 20:44

I'm being really thick with counting Blushhelp! My GP wants to do another 21 day progesterone test. He says I need to do it 7 days after I ovulate. Now, last month when I was temping I noticed that I ovulated 2 days after my first static smiley face on Cd24. This month if that happens again (I'm not temping this month to know for sure) I will ovulate on CD25. If I count 7 days after then that is CD32 which lands on a Sunday. I'll have to have the test on Monday Dpo8 on Cd33. AF is due Wednesday on CD35. Something is wrong here isn't it? The test it too close to AF? It makes my LP only 9 days which is v short isn't it Hmm The fertility specialist did say that she wanted to work on shortening my cycles from 33 days to 28 but I don't actually think 33 days is too long. I think I'm just ovulating too late causing the LP to be too short. So frustrating! Anyway, if anyone has any answers as to whether I should still do my 21 day test 7 days after OV but 3 days before AF technically will arrive I would be very grateful to hear what you think!! Thanks

Nurse15 · 10/12/2015 20:44

Hahaha! Water like, it isn't even that hard!! I'm pretty sure being in a same sex relationship would be easier, I tell my best friend that all the time! Maybe if he doesn't drink enough water you could just throw it round him instead Xmas Wink

Eightyeight · 10/12/2015 21:59

Lovely to hear some positive news. zazzles I will keep my fingers crossed for that BFP. freddie how exciting that IUI might be Monday.

bananafish urgh for the hormones and bladder infection, but hurray for excellent sperm!

Hi biscuits a ten month wait is crazy! Not long to go now though.

pear excellent question. I suspect day 32/33 is correct but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to help shortly It's great that you have got things moving with your appointments. Keep on nagging about the water!!

ellewalk · 11/12/2015 10:06

Morning all, sorry you are having such a reaction to the pill, fx that it will all be worth it in the end..

Definitely understand the DH frustration, we have been ttc for 9 months now and i think he is just starting to realize how much pressure there is on us ladies...getting him to bd at the right time has been a real bug bear of mine I have tried all sorts but as soon as he feels the pressure to perform he won't! Since starting all my tests this month he has seen how much I am prepared to put myself through to have a baby, so he just told me to tell him when my fertile period is and he will do the deed whenever, he has been busy it at it for the last 5 days........without complaint Smile. He gets his SA on the 29/12 so fingers crossed it is all okay, not sure how he will deal with having a problem!

Sorry pear no help here, I am only just getting my head around counting my dates as well. Fingers crossed on the ovulation.

So this morning FF says I may have ovulated on CD13, 2 days after the scan showed a good lead follicle? I have my CD21 bloods due on the 16/12 so will see......I am having them done at the GP's so the results will be there a few days after, now do I wait until the 29/12 when I review all the results with the consultant or do I call my GP and ask if my results showed I ovulated. At least if I know that I didn't the TWW will be much shorter?? What do you ladies think?

peardrop2 · 11/12/2015 11:44

Elle - I would call the GP and ask. Then you will be mentally prepared for your meeting. I'm going to call up my GP and find out. Always better to be one step ahead IMO Smile

RoseBud2015 · 11/12/2015 16:13

Eighty Great to hear you are ov'ing! That's a big step forward for us ladies!

Nurse Tell me about it with the preg announcements. Every person that does this on my facebook now gets swiftly de-friended! I cannot be dealing with their smugness (obvs if they were my actual friends I would keep them on fb and be happy for them and a little jealous but I don't think my real friends would be so insensitive)

Zazzles Welcome back!

Freddie BIG WOOP for the double dominant follie! P.s. I had a little cry hearing that song the other day for the exact same reason! So gald I'm not alone x

Banana Things are moving along nicley for you now! Funnily enough DH and I had a discussion the other day about him freezing a sample prior to my EC just in case he gets "stage fright" on the day Wink Defo a plan I am going to push for just in case!

Biscuit Hi! Did you used to be MrsBiscuit? I replied to your other thread about your god-awful shit 'friend' the other day. Hope you are ok and have swiftly removed the bitch from your life! xxx

Nurse It took my DH approx a year of ttc before he accepted that this wasn't "just going to happen" Now he's as eager as me to get things abroad started! Men are such slow-burners at times.

Stealth Any side effects since finishing your latest clomid round?

Pear How do you know AF is due on CD35? If you ov later, usually your AF will arrive later. Your LP should always be the same so how long is your LP each cycle?

Elle Defo phone the GP and ask! Good luck!

AFM- My first round of IVF drugs are paid for and in the post; being sent over from Czech. I finished Provera 4 days ago so am awaiting AF then have a HyCoSy booked in for Dec 23rd- lovely early Christmas present that will be Confused. IVF will start in my January cycle Probably around the 22nd Jan!

Hola rose. Just sitting waiting for my useless acupuncture appointment. It is doing absolutely nothing for either my cycle length or my ovulatory status yet still I persist. Ho hum. I am not sure re symptoms, I've been really disproportionally tired for the last few days, had a headache today and had a bit of cm and feel a bit full in my tummy that's probably all the eating and drinking I've done this week but tbh not much really? I am pretty much resigned to being Clomid resistant at this point so am not really paying too much attention. Still, all will be revealed on Thursday at my scan in a clinic far far away!

So exciting for you - you are on the road to ivf. Have a fabulous Christmas and then get going in Jan!

Banana you poor thing with your uti. I used to get them all the time, have figured out mostly how to manage them but live in fear of them coming back. AND my dh is also 45, with a high sperm count but borderline morphology. Are you SURE we're not the same person?!

ZazzlesTheCat2 · 12/12/2015 17:33

Thanks Rose just replied to you in the Dec bus thread by mistake Grin

It's good to be back and good to see some familiar faces / names Smile

Nurse15 · 12/12/2015 18:00

My other half has announced yesterday that he doesn't feel ready for a wee one and therefore doesn't want to continue trying - feel so disappointed! Have been working 2 13 hour shifts since so haven't got speaking to him about it properly - plan to have a proper talk tomorrow. Not sure what has freaked him out all of a sudden l!

peardrop2 · 12/12/2015 23:44

Nurse - ConfusedSad good luck! I hope the chat goes OK and that something positive comes from it.

peardrop2 · 12/12/2015 23:50

Rosebud my LP has been 9 days in the last two cycles. It has varied between 10-12 days in months before that. It was 11 days for quite a while but as I've skipped temping so many months I can never be sure. I'm going on last months dates and what Fertility is telling me in regards to knowing when AF will show!

Is anyone else making up nonsense fantasies in your head about how you would announce your pregnancy to DH on Christmas Day? In my dream world I've decided on wrapping up the CB bfp stick and putting it in his stocking. Lovely... A pee stuck in his stocking Grin Also thought about hanging it off the xmas tree but that's just ridiculous and would probably backfire by me forgetting to take it off the tree when the in laws visit Blush

bananafish81 · 13/12/2015 14:26

rose so excited it’s all happening - if I do ever get the go ahead to start stimming, we might be cycle buddies, woo!

elle good luck!

nurse big hugs, hope the chat goes well

pear re: the ideas about a BFP Christmas pressie for DH - LOVE it! These are just fabulous. PMSL at the thought of HPTs dangling from the tree Grin

Can you ladies believe I have NEVER yet taken a pregnancy test? Actually, that’s not true. I tested an IC strip after my trigger to see what a BFP line might look like - who the hell has a practice BFP run?!!! Confused

I’ve never POAS (well, apart from OPK, never done a HPT) because there’s never been a month when I thought I could have even been remotely in with a chance, because of my crappy lining :(

I’m terrified about OTD (if we ever do actually make it to a transfer), as it’ll be the first time I’ll have ever POAS with a glimmer of hope that it might genuinely be a BFP.

I think if I’m lucky enough to get to the point of needing to take a test, I’ll try to follow the advice I’ve been given about not testing before OTD, and then on the day not testing alone^, and doing it together with DH.

Really regretting never having POAS just for the hell of it, even though I knew what the result would be, as it means the first time I ever buy a FRER will be when £12,000 of IVF money are riding on it!!

peardrop2 · 13/12/2015 17:00

Banana - Awwww that's a hell of a lot of pressure on your shoulders! No pee stick would appear expensive on that occasion!! Definitely think it's a good idea to have your DH around for that! I can see why you would feel so nervous about it. I've always said I wish there was a much simpler way of finding out. Like your pee just turns pink when you're pregnant or your belly button turns blue...something that nobody would need to see! Wink

Freddiesmother · 13/12/2015 18:11

rose good I am pleased as I felt properly mad at my reaction!

banana so excited for your first POAS. Good luck with following the advice I Just dont have the self control!

peardrop totally had those thoughts.... dangerous territory.

I actually had my IUI on Friday as when I went for the scan she said Monday would be too late. It was pretty traumatic for both me and DH. That means I can do a test on Christmas Day.... Just the worst timing. If I can muster the strength I will try and hold off till boxing day.

bananafish81 · 13/12/2015 19:41

Oh freddie so sorry to hear it was traumatic, keeping everything crossed for you to have a restful 2ww and a fabulous Xmas BFP Flowers

Have to say you ladies watching Catastrophe are braver than I am - from what I’d read about it (gets accidentally knocked up after weekend of shagging, hilarity ensues) I just couldn’t deal with the thought of it. Oh to have the ‘problem’ of getting accidentally knocked up!!

Thanks for POAS support, although tbh as we have no idea if we can get my lining to play ball, don’t yet know if I’ll manage to have an OTD, as unless I make it to transfer, there’ll be nothing to POAS for. Was supposed to have transfer back in Sept, if I’m lucky it’ll be in Jan sometime…but frankly who knows, given my persistently crap lining :(

If I ever do get to POAS, I will def need DH there as I don’t think I’ll be able to dip the stick in without shaking like a leaf!!

pear I’m SO with you on the blue belly button idea - someone submit to Dragons Den Grin

Nurse15 · 13/12/2015 21:26

Hi everyone :) hope you all had a lovely weekend and no one has the Sunday evening blues tonight!!

Had a talk with OH earlier, he told me he was worried that things would change terribly - he likes being able to do what we want when we want was basically his reason for worrying about having a wee one, after a bit of discussion about what would change he seems a bit more settled and this evening has said he would like to continue to ttc until my gynae appointment (likely August 2016) and if they offer us clomid then he will be happy to proceed with it if that's what it takes to get pregnant.

And I thought it was us ladies who where complicated!! Xmas Wink

Pear drop - how amazing would a Christmas bfp be!! Af should in theory show for me somewhere between 17th - 26th December so unless I start feeling weird I don't think I'm gonna do a pregnancy test - although the pile of them lying around work makes it super tempting haha!!

Banana - I can't believe this, shall I send you lovely hospital spec ones so you can have a practice haha?! Fingers crossed for you!!

Freddie - have everything crossed for you! Defs have the OH around while doing the test!

sophied1983 · 14/12/2015 10:45

Went to see doc to get blood test results today... LH and FSH levels normal (so it isn't PCOS)... so why 51 day cycles is what I want to know?!?!?!

bananafish81 · 14/12/2015 10:50

Hi Sophie, I can’t remember exactly what tests you’ve had run, but FSH:LH ratios aren’t actually part of the official diagnostic criteria for PCOS - elevated LH is common, but you don’t have to have it to be diagnosed PCOS

As you have irregular periods, you only need one of the other two Rotterdam criteria for a diagnosis of PCOS

either (or both)

  • biochemical or clinical signs of hyperandrogenism (in human speak, either elevated testosterone levels in your blood tests and / or outward appearance of too much testosterone i.e. acne, hirsutism etc)
  • polycystic ovaries on ultrasound

If you have either or both of these then you are PCOS regardless of the FSH:LH ratios…can you ask your Dr about the Rotterdam criteria (if he or she doesn’t know about these, (s)he needs to get clued up!!)

Good luck xx

sophied1983 · 14/12/2015 11:28

It was awful. He didn't understand any of what I was asking. He has referred me for an ultrasound but reception said "be prepared for a lengthy wait". I wanted to see the same doc but no availability so had to go with a male locum doc. I wanted to cry when I came out. I just want someone to listen and say that's normal or it's not and to help with next steps. Having a 51 day cycle can't really be considered "ok" surely?! x

RoseBud2015 · 14/12/2015 17:59

Sophie I'm afraid Banana is right FSH/LH ratios aren't a definite indicator of someone having PCOS or not. Your doc is cIearly clueless (as are many GPS on this issue unfortunately! ) I'm severely PCOS and my ratio is LH-7 FSH -8. In fact the 1:2 or 1:3 ratio is only present in approx 50% of PCOS sufferers. See this article for more info: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14737959
The scan will be more indicative. Until then I would recommend taking supplements like Myo inositol as if you are PCOS to try and alleviate some of your symptoms x

Rosebud just reading a bit about yo inosotiol here, do you take it? How do you find it? Just asking as I haven't heard of it before! Thanks in advance x

RoseBud2015 · 14/12/2015 22:24

Nurse yes I do. I take it in tablet form now as I find it quicker that way but used to take it in powder form that you take in a drink. I buy it from Amazon and take 4000mg per day. Half in the morn and half before bed. I always buy the Jarrow brand as it seems to work out cheapest x
