Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

Best wishes,
K x

Hi ladies and welcome woody!

Af should be due any day now, don't know how long they are as only had one since coming off contraception. Today is day 28. Trying to hold out and not test until Sunday. I hate waiting!! ????

Brenna24 · 26/08/2015 18:17

Sunday test date here too. I'll keep you distracted if you keep me distracted.

Pixie1988 · 26/08/2015 18:51

Yes definitely brenna! Got an
Busy weekend with working 14 hour days, so don't really have time to think about it, but when it's my day off and I'm trying to relax my mind goes into overdrive. I've even downloaded jigsaw puzzle game and when I find myself getting frustrated I play that lol. How do you keep yourself
Busy? X

Brenna24 · 26/08/2015 19:09

I have a cake to make for a leaving do at work tomorrow (just out the oven now), I am off into town to meet up with a friend and I need to crocket a shawl to cover my shoulders for our wedding in Italy in 2 weeks. I got over halfway and discovered a mistake and had to rip it back to about 1/6th done. Plus I have work Thursday and Friday. That should keep me reasonably out of mischief. We don't have many plans for this weekend though, so that may make the time drag. If it is good weather I will go out tot he allotment and plant some spinach (somewhat late this year) and if not I think I may reorganise the spare room.

Brenna24 · 26/08/2015 19:10

*chrochet since I apparently can't spell.

I am really struggling not to POAS this month as I had a 1 hour bleed yesterday and though AF was here, ridiculously early and then it stopped and I had 2 drops of blood this morning then nothing. So I am really hoping that was an implantation bleed.

Pixie1988 · 26/08/2015 21:46

Wow you have lots to keep yourself busy! I have just learned to croquet but can only do basic stitches so just doing a blanket at the mo. Oh your wedding sounds lovely!!

Fingers crossed for you, sounds like implantation bleed but this is all new to me!! X

Brenna24 · 26/08/2015 22:14

This is wedding number 2 Grin. We got married officially in May but OH is Italian and only some of his family could come over, so we are having a second one out there. His parents have organised it all and it is quite cool to have a second run where I can relax and just do as I am told instead of organising everything.

I am doing this shawl

www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Clothes-Patterns/Goddess-Shawl-from-Naturally-Caron

It is actually really easy, just based on (american nomenclature) triple crochet, single crochet and chains. I think it is almost easier than a blanket as you don't have to join things together.

Vicky2307 · 26/08/2015 22:59

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining in here, I have been having a read of the previous posts, this looks like the right place to be.

I'm 27 and TTC#1
I came off of the pill 11th May & still waiting for my first AF! I'm starting to get frustrated with the waiting! (I'm deff not pregnant!)

Like most of you on here we haven't told anyone we are TTC, not sure I would like the added pressure of everyone knowing & am enjoying it being our little secret :-)

XL · 26/08/2015 23:58

Hi guys and welcome to woody and vicky! Well end of AF now so will be at it again next week #3 cycle lucky!! Suppose I'll be like a woman possessed again symptom spotting and peeing on opks..... Good luck brenna! That sounds like an implantation bleed fx it is! Ps shawl looks lovely!
Good luck to any other testers... I've well and truly lost the plot with who's testing when now!

Brenna24 · 27/08/2015 08:40

A tiny bit more spotting when I wiped this morning, no more than that though. I am so tempted to POAS now to get my BFP before AF arrives. Grin. If only it worked like that. Luckily my dear dog got me up at 3am with a dodgy tummy and needed to run 10 minutes away to the local park as he won't poo on grass too close to home, so I needed a pee by the time we got home and thus FMU would not have been brilliant this morning. Well done BennyDog for saving me from myself Grin. My poor old boy get the runs every now and then as a reaction to his tablets, I feel so sorry for him. I still had a floor to clean when I got up this morning too. Just as well I love the scraggly old bag of flies.

I just have to finish icing the cake, then off to work for me for the day. Someone remind me I need to get the dog new pills on the way home tonight please.

Brenna24 · 27/08/2015 08:57

I just had a really huge cramp right in my cervix. I think AF may be on her way. :(

Lou13e · 27/08/2015 18:37

Hi Brenna, boo to cramps, am hoping it was just a stitch caused by excessive crocheting :-)

Brenna24 · 27/08/2015 19:53

Thanks Lou13e. So far so good, it eased off and nothing so far. I am still in the running. This is driving me bonkers. Only a couple more days. I will try and lay off the crochet ;)

Lou13e · 27/08/2015 21:29

Good to hear Brenna :-)

Right I need help... Possibly in more ways than one however...

As I was waiting for my bath to run I realised how I've not poas for 4 days, the two week wait is killing me so I thought... What the hell, let's not have a normal wee, squatting over the loo with a beaker trying to catch it is much more fun.

I then realised (in a temporary sane moment) that it's too early for a pregnancy test as I'm only 6 days post ovulation (v bright positive followed by negatives) so I thought I'd dip a opk in instead... Here comes the eek bit...

There was a faint second line.. Wtf? I was completely negative before and after ovulation and now this.. Can someone with some sanity explain this.. In fact, it's mn, scrap the sanity.. Anyone will do.. Confused

Brenna24 · 27/08/2015 22:07

There are 2 possible explanations.

  1. your levels of LH can fluctuate a bit over your cycle and it has gone up a bit

or

  1. hCG is very similar to LH and it could be picking up the early stages of a pregnancy.

Fx for 2.

XL · 28/08/2015 02:14

Lou13e we pretty much always have LH in our pee but at differing levels that's why unlike the pregnancy test where any faint line is a positive coz we only have hcg at pregnancy, the opk is only classed as positive when the line is darker or as dark as the control line. Hope this makes sense x

Brenna24 · 28/08/2015 08:44

I am sorry Pixie I caved this morning. My temperature went up instead of down and I decided I would give it a shot, then retest on Sunday or Monday if it was a BFN

New here TTC baby #1 Cycle #1
Lou13e · 28/08/2015 10:24

Brenna... Is that not a bfp!????

Brenna24 · 28/08/2015 10:56

Sorry, it is indeed. Before I did it I was thinking that I would be retesting in a few days. I won't be needing to, although I probably will with a different make bafore I believe it.

Lou13e · 28/08/2015 11:04

That's blooming brilliant news! Congratulations, how do you feel? Also how many days post ovulation are you? Am made up for you x

Brenna24 · 28/08/2015 11:11

I had only just started reading up on how to measure etc, only ordered the test strips and thermometer later on this month, so I don't know exactly when but probably between 10 and 14 days. My cycles vary between 28 and 32 dyas long and today was 29 so I wasn't going to test until Sunday if AF still wasn't here, but I had a 1 hour bleed on tuesday evening, and after 10 days of temp taking and it being roughly constant it went up instead of down this morning so I thought I would give it a bash. I thought I was going to be too early to tell yet and I had said to Pixie further up I would keep her company until testing on sunday sine she was the same day as me. I was weak and caved though, but mainly because I had a feeling.

At the moment I feel fine. I am getting AF like cramps in the mornings, but then they are disappearing during the day and normally they just get worse until she gets here. No nausea or anything but I do have tender boobs and I have been really, really hot and clammy for the last few days. It is about 8 deg C and windy here on the east coast of scotland at 6am when I take the dog out for his morning walk. I have been going out in a strappy top and bare arms and coming back sweating and sticky. How glamourous.

Brenna24 · 28/08/2015 11:14

I stuck the stick in an old chinese takeaway box, wrapped it in wrapping paper and then went through and gave it to OH and apologised that his anniversary present was a bit late (we had a meal together on Monday night to celebrate 3 months since we got married). He opened it, picked it up by the weed on end and went "What, This?!?!?!"
Confused
Confused
Confused
Confused
"Oh wait, is this.........?"
Grin
"Are you......?"

It was so funny

Lou13e · 28/08/2015 11:38

Aww, got tears in my eyes.. How sweet, yippee!

Brenna24 · 28/08/2015 12:21

Thank you

TheCatsMother99 · 28/08/2015 14:17

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining in Smile.

I'm 29, got married about 18 months ago and came off cerazette at the beginning of the month (27 days ago) after being on various pills for about 13 years. I didn't get a withdrawal bleed when I first came off but have the beginnings of what might be AF today. I'm guessing it's that, or could it be a delayed withdrawal bleed? Does anyone know?

I'm saying a little prayer that I get in to a normal cycle ASAP as I had no idea how long it can take and naively thought that pretty much as soon as you come off the pill you can start trying & I think I'll drive myself mad if I have to wait for ages before I can really start TTC. And as it is I'm desperately trying not to talk about it (or babies) too much to my DH as I know I'll become a baby-bore.

I've only popped up on these threads every so often as I feel a bit silly/in limbo when I'm not properly TTC yet but am keeping my fingers crossed things start moving soon!
