Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

Best wishes,
K x

Sorry Ali... Still test on the 18th just to make sure tho xx

ren2903 · 14/08/2015 14:17

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining Smile

Name:Ren
TTC : cycle2
Baby: #1
Test: 6th sep

I've also had what I thought were ovulation pains in my left side but didn't last any length of time.

I'm only in my second month so don't really have a clue what's going on with my cycle! I was on the pill for 16y so I think my body might be taking its time to get back to normal. My first period off the pill was very light and short, anyone else had the same?

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 14/08/2015 14:45

Sorry to hear about your AF arrival sunflower - FX for next cycle or a later POAS just in case.

Welcome Ren! You're further along the TTC journey than I am, as I'm almost about to start trying. I came off the pill about 5 years ago I reckon, and I can't remember what my first periods were like after it but I remember being AS MOODY AS HELL. It was like the worst elongated PMT mood swings. I hope you're having a much easier time transitioning off it than I did. My DH was desperate for me to go back on the pill to end the horror! Ha ha.

I've heard it can take a while for your body to get back into the swing of things, but then again, you hear of some women conceiving straight away so I don't think there's any certainties!

Lou13e · 14/08/2015 15:16

Hello lovely ladies, please can I join you? Im so excited about this whole process. My oh has two children from a previous relationship and they conceived pretty much instantly so am keeping fingers crossed it won't take us long.

Name: Louise
TTC: #1
Cycle: #2
Test: 5th Sept

Good luck everyone x

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 14/08/2015 22:09

Welcome to Ren and Lou, nice to see we are still getting new joiners.. it's going to be a exciting few weeks for us lot huh?

Sorry to hear about your testing today Sunflower.. has AF showed up for sure? I know we shouldn't expect these things to happen in the first month of trying but it's hard not to be hopeful.. I know I will feel so disappointed next week if it turns out that way, which is silly really when you think about it logically! We were planning to avoid a July/August baby too.. but now that we've started trying I think I might be too impatient to put things on hold for a few months!!

Sunflower86 · 14/08/2015 23:45

Thank you all for being so lovely. I think this is 99% AF but my glass half full and stubborness meants ill still test next week. Booked a call with my doctor for monday to find out what might have happened this month. I also came off pill about 3 years ago so there should have been no change to me this month for any reason. At least because its early it means i can still try at the end of this month to hope for a may/june baby. Its silly really as i know lots of clever peeps born in july and august. I think we will just carry on without a gap because you just never know how long it may take

Horsey21 · 15/08/2015 00:24

Watch us all have August babies now! The due date of my miscarried pregnancy was 21st December! In a heartbeat we changed from not wanting a December baby to being super excited about having a Christmas baby!! A baby is really exciting whenever it's dueSmile Happy weekend everyone and welcome to the new joiners xxx

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 15/08/2015 09:19

3 September: bluepigoon
5 September: Louise

Fingers crossed today for Pandabarney.. let us know if you have any news!!

Wise words Horsey, we can theorise about different months all we like but I think it will be perfect whenever it happens!! My brother and my best friend were August babies and they are two of the cleverest, most successful people I know!

Lou13e · 15/08/2015 13:24

Hi everyone, any news panda? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

How's everyone doing? I joined slimming world today, they're pregnancy friendly and won't do me any harm to lose a few pounds either. Every little helps.

I'm with everyone on the August birth, but I'm that excited now that I don't want to pause trying for a few months.
X

Pixie1988 · 15/08/2015 21:03

Hi all, sorry I have been quiet, been super busy with work - can I ask you girls what you do for a living?

Any news yet panda??

Why don't you ladies want an August baby? My plan was to be due between April- September as don't want a baby bear Xmas/new year but things never go to plan! ????

Pandabarney · 15/08/2015 21:22

No news as yet as away at the moment! No AF as yet but could be that my cycle is still messed up as we started trying as soon as I stopped my pill. Will keep you posted!

Lou13e · 15/08/2015 21:30

July / August puts me off as (totally irrational I know) from my experience the youngest in the school year tend to struggle a bit, plus people don't go to birthday parties etc as on holiday (told you it's irrational). I was one of the oldest in my school year and felt I benefited in a way? Eg was first to drive / get served etc. on the grand scheme of things this is pretty insignificant though.

As for job.. I'm a police officer Smile

Sunflower86 · 15/08/2015 22:14

I spoke to my husband today as he wanted to take a break to avoid the 'youngest in school year' theory but we've looked at the pro's of bbq/garden bday parties, knowing everyone in the school year by then, enjoying the outdoor walks when they are first born. Plus keeping them out of pubs the longer you can cant be a bad thing! Going to keep on trying up to feb (to avoid xmas) but hope it doesnt take that long!

P.s I'm a graphic designer

Pixie1988 · 15/08/2015 22:16

Not really irrational, just your thoughts and opinions, I was just intrigued! Me personally, being born in May, my birthday and Xmas Are spaced out nicely thoughtful the year that's why I want the same for my baby- you may think my reasoning is silly lol. But as I said things never go to plan!

Wow I thought my job was demanding! X

Lou13e · 15/08/2015 22:25

Hehe, in all honesty I don't mind, I'm sure we are all the same in just wanting a squishy baby of our own.

One thing for certain though - I wish I'd realised how blooming technical getting preggers actually is, I use to fly into blind panic if missed pill etc.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday night x

xmaslisa · 16/08/2015 00:43

Hi guys! I don't know if it's me but I seem to be having a bit more cramping than usual. Don't normally get it until AF is here... Mmmm strange! Although I am looking out for every single thing like an obsessive! Hope everyone else is ok... I'm impressed that you're keeping up lily!!
Btw I'm an emergency nurse practitioner

Monkey1987 · 16/08/2015 04:05

I'm the same Lisa, noticing every little twinge! Although these could be there all the time and I'm only noticing now because of TTC!
My brother was an August birthday and I remember quite a few parties when we were younger with his friends, I think my mam handed out invitations before the end of term... As for BBQ parties, there is one year I remember were my dad was outside in the pouring rain and there was a gang of 10yo in the garage Grin
I'm a bid administrator Smile

Katilo2 · 16/08/2015 08:47

Lisa, I mentioned earlier that I used to feel ovulation pains most months, but for the past few (maybe 6months) I haven't, so was chuffed to feel the ones this month, for obvious reasons! I have been getting more crampy/ovulation-y pains than normal.. And I think that if this were normal for me every month, I would have noticed before now, and would maybe have put it down to ovulation..! Given that I wasn't really paying attention to my cycle, just documenting it I wouldn't have known when to expect ovulation so would have just accepted it... So hopefully good things are happening! I'm also a bit more spotty than normal.. And for the last 3days, my bra has left red marks on my boobs (where the top of the cups sit) as if they are suddenly bigger? I'm not sure symptoms would have started this quick, maybe it's the donuts ;)

And my job? Wasn't gonna say, but since we are sharing and caring.. I'm a nurse...

And a midwife ????

OP posts:
LilyMyOneAndOnly · 16/08/2015 10:20

We have a midwife on the thread?! That's it Kat - you're never allowed to leave Grin

I'm a Project Manager (in the NHS) so organising stuff comes naturally to me.. and I do like a good list!

I'm having no symptoms at all Sad so mostly giving myself pep-talks about how it's ok if I haven't been successful this month, I'll be able to drink on our holiday etc etc. Will still be disappointed for sure, don't know if I have mentioned by my husband works away so timing wise things are always going to be difficult for us.. it could be months before I see him during my fertile window again!

Oh and with the August thing.. I've read in various places that it puts them behind at school as they will be the youngest. My mum is a primary school teacher and she said it is a general observation, but all children are different and it's the ones that have supportive and engaged parents that come on the quickest.

Katilo2 · 16/08/2015 14:04

Midwifery is very new to me... Don't get too excited :)

I'd love to get a bfp first time (obviously) and I keep thinking I am pregnant.. My hopes are well and truly raised.. :/ I feel bloated, I read somewhere that someone was having difficulty sucking their tummy in, I kind of feel like that. I was stood next to a touch screen computer at work the other night which has a keyboard shelf underneath and I kept noticing that my stomach was pressing up against it, it doesn't normally.. Alas, It's all psychological. I know nothing would have changed so early on. Anyone else have these itrational thoughts? I keep thinking about testing early.. Maybe Wednesday.. I am going to be so disheartened.....

Que Sera!

Oh and i forgot to say, I was due at New Years, but was born in early January.. winter is my favourite time of year, I like my birthday being in January and would say I'm of average intelligence. My husband was a very late July baby and had interviews at Cambridge Uni, got the highest marks in his year for some GCSE's and a-levels, got a first class degree and almost has his phd. I realise you're talking about the average but as someone said above, it's very much to do with how well supported and encouraged they are :)

Katilo2 · 16/08/2015 14:13

Lily, there will be lots of women who have no symptoms at all and get a bfp..... and there'll be people like me who imagine alsorts and will get a negative..! Just make the most of it when you can BD! :)

Hi All,

I'd never thought about what time of year id want a little one to be born but I am now! Not something I can do much about at the mo as Its a bit difficult for us to dtd at the mo as we have family lodging with us in between house sale and purchase... So it's do it while we can and hope for the best the next few months Smile

P.s I'm an Accountant (don't all groan Wink)

Horsey21 · 16/08/2015 21:22

Ren I'm a management consultant which is another groan job! Very pleased to have a midwife on here Kat, you will be very handy when we all have our BFPs and we need your advice!

Well, my tww is officially over, period is now one day late, I have 5 pregnancy tests sat in the bedside table and not peed on one of them yet! After losing a pregnancy at 9 weeks in May I think I'm a bit anxious to be pregnant again, going to enjoy this week, see if period shows up and test on Saturday. Still no symptoms here, although I do feel a bit more aware of my nipples over the past few days, can't really explain it, they're not sore, I'm just very aware they are there!!! Grin

What a head wrecker this conception and pregnancy lark is!

Lou13e · 16/08/2015 22:39

Keeping my fingers crossed for you horsey.

I just had a melt down... Went to the loo and noticed pinky red in the bowl.. I'm only on day 8 so was well freaked out... Try to tell other half (even though he knows nothing about me tracking my cycle / using mumsnet etc) that I must be infertile as having a period so soon after last one... When I realised I've only been eating blooming beetroot all day! Panic over - duh (my oh now thinks I'm even more of a loon though) x
