New here TTC baby #1 Cycle #1

Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

A bit of history - got married in May (and am going over to Italy in September for a second wedding to keep the new in-laws happy as not all of them made it over). I am a lab technician at a university. I have a grumpy old dog to keep me trained in the art of keeping my patience while wiping floors or puke and poo, getting wakened up at odd hours during the night and making a good old mess over everything.

I'm 8dpo and getting impatient just trying to keep myself busy and working lots!
We have not heard from sunflower? I wonder how she is and if she got her bfp xx

Still no sign of AF.. had to give my husband a quick biology lesson last night - he was so disappointed by the negative test (more than I was I think!) I guess it could still happen, and if not and it turns out I have a longer cycle than predicted it will push my fertile window forward in September which might be better timing for when he is due home from work!

It's all just ifs and maybes though huh? I'll drive myself mad thinking about it lol!

Well done for getting your smear sorted Toffee not he nicest of things to do, but not that bad in the end really! We have a little tradition of my DH buying me a dress after each smear test.. well I've only ever had two!

I use that app also but mainly been using it to try and track my cycle as with coming off the pill I have no idea how many days it should be!
I agree some of the data they ask you to track makes me laugh, I got a little message from them today asking me what was going on down there...

Can I ask what is everyone doing with regards to having the odd glass of wine while ttc?

I'm in the second half of my cycle now and have a few social events coming up so I'm wondering how to deal with the questions of why I'm not drinking, any thoughts or good excuses you have will be welcome

Hi ren I quit booze about 5 years ago but I'm pretty sure that a few glasses of vino won't hurt! Look at all those people barely trying to get pg and still going out, enjoy yourself I say! x

Or if you don't want to say you're taking some antibiotics atm...

Lily we are off to Rome and Senegalia. DH was born and grew up in Rome but all the rest of his family is on the Adriatic near Senegalia, so we are going to have the blessing and meal there for his grandparents and other family.

Ahh Lily, that's amazing about a new dress as a smear treat! I told my DH last night and he seemed on board with the idea - lol. Does this mean I can go dress shopping on my lunch break!? I do need something to wear for an upcoming wedding and my favourite dress shop has a half price sale on...

Ooh good question on the drinking with TTC front. I ended up drinking a couple of glasses of wine last weekend as I kept thinking people were raising eyebrows at me when I was declining a drink. Probably just being a bit paranoid but I have this weird aversion to people knowing that we're trying or guessing that we're pregnant when we are... I don't know why. I have a real fear of it! So keep telling myself I'll be good and not drink to increase our chances... and then I spoil it because I'm obsessed with people not thinking I'm preggers.

What is that about!?

I think that later down the line, if we've had many cycles without success, I'll cut out alcohol and caffeine completely... but for now... I'm just consuming everything in moderation!

Brenna - sounds lovely, I love Italy. How is everyone today? Ovia has moved my fertile window again.. I was getting mad but then had a word with myself.., it's just an app, it's not actually controlling my body just trying to help, so going to try and dtd whenever we can between us both working long shifts and stop stressing!

I got some cheapy opk from Internet.. Have started using them but not seeing any bold lines just yet.

Am I really sad or does anyone else kind of enjoy this? I love paying more attention to my body although can go ott symptom spotting, hehe

We got engaged a few months ago so now we are getting lots of questions about kids anyway! We always agreed we would get married before the birth of any children (lol) but the ring was a surprise to me from the OH to mark us starting to try

Id insisted for years I didn't want an engagement ring one, but now I've got one...

Not due until the 27th but I caved with cheapie eBay tests. BFN so far. Going to pack it in as it does rather spoil the start of a day!

Baby names are an ongoing topic of conversation in our house. We used the only girls name we both agreed on for DD, so if we have another DD we're buggered. Various names we both love for boys, so it'll be okay if a DS comes along.

I'm not a big drinker anyway, so the odd glass of wine hasn't been a problem. On the couple of accasions it has come up, I've just said I'm really tired, so don't want to drink anything or I'll fall asleep! Working part time twilights with an energetic toddler during the day means they believe me.

Test day tomorrow! Can't help thinking AF is gonna show up tho... I have that AF feeling... Never mind! It's only cycle #2 have to keep reminding myself that ppl that are young fit and healthy can sometimes take up to a year to conceive and I'm 37 and post a shed load of major surgery so I may be expecting a bit too much!! Be realistic Lisa!!!.... There I've had a word with myself!

Not due AF for another week. I have cramps, backache and I am really hot and clammy. Trying not to symptom spot. Bet I just have a bug coming or something.

Tested again today and another bfn, cycle day 32 and no sign of AF. No idea what's going on!!

I've got 4 days until af is due, time is dragging so much. My boobs are really sore (never got this when I was on the coil) and dp says they feel bigger! Trying not to symptom spot or could be af symptoms ahhh!! X

Hi everyone, sorry to hear about AFs arrival XL, this is all such a roller coaster isn't it!

I'm blooming estatic today.. Did an opk and the bottom line showed for pretty much the first time ever, wasn't as strong as the control line but I'm hopeful for ovulation maybe tomorrow. I know this will seem small time to most of you but I'm so paranoid and irrational about being able to have children, I think because i want them so much that I can't let myself believe it?

Anyway.. Fingers crossed for all you girls, love being able to talk on here as its a secret in real life xx

Yeah I'll probably leave it another few days and test again on Wednesday if nothing has happened.. I'd like to say I'll hold out until next weekend but I just don't have the will power!!

Brenna - yes I have two rescue dogs (my current babies!) love them to bits and they keep me company while DH is away for work.

Pixie my boobs are always the first place I put on weight, they show me up if I've been eating too much! I lost loads of weight in the run up to our wedding a couple of years ago and went mad on our honeymoon eating everything in sight! When I came home with massive boobs everyone thought I was pregnant!!

Sounds like good news for you today Lou, I don't know anything about opks but it sounds like a good result?! I wasn't planning on telling anyone that we are ttc but already told three girls at work and my cousin.. I just can't keep it in! All sworn to secrecy mind.. If my mum found out she would be unbearable (she's so desperate to be a grandparent - I couldn't handle the pressure!!)

Naughty and eat something I shouldn't my stomach goes so hard and round people have actually mistaken it for pregnancy!! Mostly strangers as people close to me know I have bad stomach days!

Yea it's difficult as we haven't told anyone were ttc! Don't wanna feel pressurised and people asking etc if I don't get pregnancy quickly x

Lilly - you put weight on to your boobs? I'm so jealous, it's the first place I lose from (and they're not big - like my arse to start with!)

Pixie - good luck holding out and not testing, you've more willpower than me, I did 3 opk yesterday and 2 today... Have attached photo... Newest is at top.. Really want to go to sleep as up at 5am for work but oh won't be home tonight until at least 11pm in order to DTD (will not be in the least bit romantic if we do manage) think it'll be ok to leave until tomorrow evening? Really want to go sleep...
