TTC - anxious over early pregnancy possible symptoms?

Hi,
First time post so please be kind :)
Been TTC for 4 months now (though month 1 we missed my fertile window)
I'm around 5ish days from AF being due but wondering if I could be pregnant for a few reasons: I e been really struggling to sleep the past few nights and when I manage to I have really vivid dreams (the kind when you aren't sure if they have actually happened when you wake up) I've been peeing almost double what I normally would and every now and then I get a weird feeling in my stomach, in a similar place to where I have period pains but it's not pain, it's more like when you over extend a muscle, just a twinge then it's gone.
Was wondering if anyone had similar symptoms? Sorry to pour all this in here (you've probably heard it a million times before) but nobody knows we are TTC so I'm kinda on my own with this!
Thanks

Aww Godmother not a good start to the day :(
There's a few things I guess (purely from experience, no medical training) could be that you are but your body doesn't produce a ton of the hormone that's detected until later on in pregnancy, could be that you didn't ovulate this month in which case your period will arrive after CD36 or so because it's not caused by the unfertilised egg but the lack of hormone.
Your doc will only do the same test you can buy over the counter, not sure they count 8 days as overly significant if you have been having regular cycles :( that being said if I was you I would give it the weekend then try doc if no AF by Monday x

I use monthly cycles think I will stick to what my phone one says for now and have ordered digital ov kits from amazon x

Heheh, that's true Prty! Hopefully people won't bother with the clichés because we told everyone we're moving to give DS a garden and more space now he's walking... I've only told two people (my closest female friends) we're properly trying, also to avoid the questions and pressure. And the inevitable pity when (if?) it doesn't happen for ages Sad

You made me laugh with the chocolate-throwing-rage! Never waste comfort food Wink

I agree with Prty, Godmother... just hang in there, weird symptoms and all, for a while longer... the BFN may change if it is just early days. Or, AF will arrive and we'll be here with virtual Wine and Cake - entertainingly, there's an advert on my page for 'boozy lollipops'! MN knows us all too well Wink

Hi Bug! Welcome to the monthly round of hope/positivity followed by crashing sorrow when AF turns up.

Anyhoo, last day of work now before the move (no, we didn't intend for ttc to coincide... based on pregnancy #1, I should've been knocked-up by now Confused). So at least that'll distract me from symptom-spotting and counting, etc. Wouldn't it be perfect if that's the exact time the baby fairy decided to visit? wistful sigh Ha. As if.

Hope you all have as nice a day as you can, and don't throw anything at the numpties who make insensitive comments Wink

Thanks Prty - will deffo go next week if still not here. And will take it easy on the vino on Sat night too - tho I hate that it might invite questions given we are out with another couple so will be pretty obvious if I abstain (am usually a massive lush). I actually think even when you 'secret try', other people will always speculate anyway. Hate to admit I have done it myself in the past - and usually been spot on!
Be interested to know how Neetie (& Prty?) get on with the ov kits. Is anyone else using them? I worry it will open me up to more to be paranoidcasually concerned about!

AlwaystheGodmother · 09/07/2015 10:49

And Em - I don't have ads for lollipops just maps.... Er, think they're trying to get me to focus on going in the right direction after all my crazy googling!! Good luck with the move & look forward to hearing your sage advice when you are on the other side!

bugista · 09/07/2015 11:03

Thanks Em and everyone! Lots of GOOD LUCK for your move!

Always sorry to hear about your BFN - that sounds really stressful when you have the symptoms and no period...so confusing!!

I'm currently using three phone apps (HAH) because I wanted to test which was best - fertility friend is usually quite accurate and I find their graph the easiest to use (you can see it all in one go to check for patterns). Ovia is also good but it struggles with my crazy cycles a bit (I think if you have quite regular cycles this one is the best). Have just started using Glow too - it's quite good but a bit too fancy for my liking!!

Annie2311 · 09/07/2015 11:04

Sorry about your crappy start to the day godmother, def think Docs next week if still no sign of AF to set your mind at rest. In the meantime sending you best for a lovely weekend to keep you happy and distracted (I know how hard that can be!) Xx

PrtyPsn · 09/07/2015 11:12

Ok, prepare yourselves for a huge response to all of this!!

Em I did tell a close female friend and she normally doesn't question but she's constantly lookign for hidden meaning - like when I mentioend I could do with some new clothes, becasue I really could, she thought it was a pregnancy announcement :/
Hahaha it was close call for the chocolate but it was Giant Buttons so to see them laying all over the floor (and hopefully a few stuck to her face!!) could have been beyond damaging!
Good luck with the last day of work and woo hoo for moving!! Careful with lifing, bending, stertching and twisting though... just in case :)

Godmother I too, am was, a massive lush. I decided when we started TTC that I would give it up completely - seemed impossible at first but I've soon got into the swing of it (praise the Lord for Becks Blue!) I decided to keep it up even after AF's and BFN just because I figured it would be harder to stop again if I started!
It has seriously impacted my social life and I have used every trick in the book to avoid questions re: alcohol consumption. When my drinking buddy friends came over I pre-made cocktails for them and a 'mocktail' for me in a flavour they didn't like. When I visited family for a birthday celebration I bought a botttle of Bacardi and secretly emptied it into a plastic bottle then refilled it with water. I'm at a party this weekend and it's gonna have to be ordering just lemonade instead of Bacardi and lemonade and begging the bar staff to put it in a tall glass so it looks alcoholic :/
People can secret guess al they like as long as they aren't talking to me about it! even though I have never shown any mothering instincts and everyone knows I don't want kids (hehe!) I'm sure there will be a few who say 'I knew it!' when I announce (when, Em no if - positive thinking!).

I've never used ovulation kits but that's cos I trusted my body to do what it was meant to! I'm not saying I've lost that trust but I'm starting to get edgy and feel like I need to do something more than just DTD to be actively TTC... I don't know :( will let you know how I get on with them!

EmFlat · 09/07/2015 15:59

Yeah, sorry for the massive post earlier: I usually use my app but am at work so was carried away with the ease of typing! Grin

Thanks to all for the moving-luck: I'll be careful, just in case Wink

Hope you all have a nice weekend and trick everyone who's watching alcohol consumption! Prty, you go to the most jaw-dropping lengths, bless you. I too am partial to a pint of boozy apple-juice, and that was how I was sussed a mere 5 weeks after conceiving DS Blush Oops.

TTFN xxx

PrtyPsn · 09/07/2015 16:20

Haha thanks Em not sure it's a good thing though - just highlights how much I used to drink... let's just say I was the beer pong champion in my friends and I was always the first with the shots Blush in fact my family and friends would be more shocked if I told them I've been sober for four months than if I told them I'd spent those months TTC!!
Good luck with the move :) see you on the other side!!

OP posts:
neetie1 · 09/07/2015 17:44

Am lucky in a way as don't drink that much so no one suspects if I do not drink at functions /parties etc

PrtyPsn · 09/07/2015 17:54

That is lucky :) I just feel the old 'I'm on anti biotics' is a bit over used and obvious :/ think my line will be 'I had tons last night and I'm still recovering' probably just as obvious!!

We have end of term party next Friday but luckily as I live half hour from school I can use 'Oh I'm driving' ;)

Annie2311 · 10/07/2015 09:05

Hey bugista only just saw your app recommendations from yesterday, thanks! xx

PrtyPsn · 10/07/2015 14:56

neetie driving is always a good one, I'll add that to my list :)
bugista three apps - that's more hardcore than my alcohol hiding lol! would be interested to know which you find best

OP posts:
AlwaystheGodmother · 10/07/2015 21:52

Me too Bug

Prty - my excuses so far... big day at work tomorrow; migraine; water infection; early start in the morning & health kick. I admire your commitment!

Happy nearly end of term time Neetie. Still no AF here but think will treat myself to a glass or 2 tomorrow when out for tea - don't judge me, I can't put my life on hold for 3 negatives right?! Hmm

AlwaystheGodmother · 10/07/2015 21:53

Bug me too on the apps front is what I meant!

PrtyPsn · 10/07/2015 22:11

Hey, I started this thread and I say no judgement from anyone :) we are all in this together and support is unconditional, my work role depends upon non-judgemental practice and it's dangerous to hold people against your own standards! Basically you can all do what you like and nobody gets to judge - thread rule!
Still no ding of AF then?

OP posts:
PrtyPsn · 10/07/2015 22:13

Ding? Ding?? Damn you fat fingers autocorrect!!
Also, loving the fuel to me 'no alcohol' fire, I'm spoilt for choice for the party tomorrow lol'

OP posts:
AlwaystheGodmother · 10/07/2015 22:35

Oh Prty you do make me chuckle - and thank you Brew. A cheers to you without booze (week free for me) for your supportive words.
Still no dinging here, nope! It's getting bloody ridiculous. Or not so bloody. I can accept my body has probably just freaked out & skipped a period but does this mean I just jump back on the horse (aka DH) & randomly never know when I may ovulate/be due on/waste cash on HPTs willy nilly?! (fnar) Docs for me next week for a slap sense check me thinks!

How is everyone? Enjoy your sunny weekends & the big bash tomorrow Prty x

PrtyPsn · 10/07/2015 22:40

Haha it's always good to have a purpose and what finer pleasure than making people laugh!
Still think it could be anovulatory cycle - no egg, very late period. But who knows? Our fine female bodies are just not cooperating! Might be worth having a chat on the phone to your doc (if they do that?) not sure how much they can/will do for one missed period :/
The biggest party of the weekend will be the farewell party for AF as she's hopefully on the way tomorrow so I can get back on my horse... well, ya know, stallion Wink

Yee-hah!

Stripes1983 · 10/07/2015 23:58

Hi everyone , hope you don't mind me jumping in here - I've been reading your posts for a few days now so thought I'd get involved :)

Been casually ttc since March but only this cycle have been monitoring ovulation and all that comes with ttc ! My last day of my fertile window today and been doing a ov test everyday but nothing ! Should I just keep doing the tests until I get a positive (if!) ?

MissPepper8 · 11/07/2015 01:03

Well it was kinda too good to be true, but my spotting turned into AF. I am very gutted.. I'm not sure why I was so poorly with cramps and nausea, I occasionally get cramps a week before AF but never nausea so very strange.

Felt very disheartened right now and had a little cry as my DH thought I was too. I'm probably being really daft I know.

PrtyPsn · 11/07/2015 05:51

MissPepper sorry to hear that, chick. You're not being daft, it's really hard when you feel really different with strange symptoms then AF appears - I felt completely the same this month, it's totally normal xx chin up, sweetie, there's always next month and you will get there. For now just enjoy some chocolate and cuddles and count the days until AF packs her bags :)

Hi Stripes of course you're more than welcome to join us (though I would have thought reading our posts for a few days would scare people off, not encourage to join lol!)
I'm guessing you're basing your fertile window on an app or previous cycles if you have had no positive ov stick? If you think the fertile window is over then Id stop peeing and just keep DTD every 2 days or so (tee ha indeed Godmother Wink ) sperm can live for up to 5 days so even if you do ovulate late then you would still have a decent chance of catching it?
Or maybe I'm projecting my fears onto you cos I reckon when my OPK turn up I'll peeing like a mad woman every 15 minutes every single day just to check!
