TTC - anxious over early pregnancy possible symptoms?

PrtyPsn · 27/06/2015 07:53

Hi,
First time post so please be kind :)
Been TTC for 4 months now (though month 1 we missed my fertile window)
I'm around 5ish days from AF being due but wondering if I could be pregnant for a few reasons: I e been really struggling to sleep the past few nights and when I manage to I have really vivid dreams (the kind when you aren't sure if they have actually happened when you wake up) I've been peeing almost double what I normally would and every now and then I get a weird feeling in my stomach, in a similar place to where I have period pains but it's not pain, it's more like when you over extend a muscle, just a twinge then it's gone.
Was wondering if anyone had similar symptoms? Sorry to pour all this in here (you've probably heard it a million times before) but nobody knows we are TTC so I'm kinda on my own with this!
Thanks

Aw Jeez, Prty :'( fuck it, that is the crappest timing.

Yes, great news for your friend, obvs - but I empathise with you, and would agree that crawling into bed and crying is the only option!

AlwaystheGodmother · 08/07/2015 14:18

I hear ya too Prty - the timing does suck. And always so much harder when you trying to keep TTC a secret too - tho imagine the pitying, cheery false positivity if people DID know you were trying when you get given news from your friend and I figure the private pain and horrible jealousy and irrational crying and clutching of hot water bottles and seeing kids EVERYWHERE is better than the public.
Stay strong & rest assured you are not alone x

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 14:49

Thanks ladies. It's good to know I'm not alone.
Feeling pretty deflated about the whole baby thing right now, I'm sure it will pass - it's just that for every gram of happiness I've got for her there's ten grams of bitterness, jealousy and downright heartache too :(
I do think you're right though, Godmother - I would hate that look in people's eyes if they knew, the eggshells and awkwardness (one of my favourite songs has the line 'the only thing worse than not knowing is you thinking that I don't know' feels kinda relevant) At least even privately I have you all to share my grief with x

No probs Prty - you prompted me to make my second-ever post as I understood how you felt. (And is that Fall Out Boy?!)
Mumsnet was a saviour for a friend of mine when she had DS1 for myriad reasons and hopefully can help us all too. Part of the reason I avoided trying for so long in the first place was the sure descent into crazy symptom spotting & here I am three months later like a hormone crazed loon! (Difference is at 38, I fear I have left it far too late.)
Wine to you & take care of yourself - plenty of folk here to keep you company on the bumpy (or no bump as the case may be) journey!

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 15:32

'Seven Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)' good spot Godmother OverCast Kid for life!
I'm moved that your second ever post was to comfort me, thank you. Crazy symptom spotting is my new hobby and I'm only four months in. The people here have been hugely helpful, partner is incredibly laid back and any rational or irrational worry I have he just smiles and hugs me and say 'It'll happen' which is lovely but sometime you just need a sister to rant with/at!
Cake and Brew for everyone today!

Well I am even more confused now. ..woke up with not nice cramps thinking af was here or close but nothing , wiped ...nothing
all day cramps have been on and off but no sign of any bleeding at all ..If it's coming wish it would get on with it

Annie2311 · 08/07/2015 16:49

This is such a comforting feed to read! I am on my third month of TTC (early days I know) but I didn't realise I would be this un-chilled about it! Every small thing that I feel makes me start suspecting I'm pregnant... and I've learned very quickly that googling any symptom + pregnancy leads to a positive response somewhere on the internet. Last month I convinced myself that a bout of conjunctivitis was a sign of lowered immune system as a result of pregnancy! This months shopping list of symptoms are queasiness, sore boobs and a dry mouth, I'm due on Saturday so we'll see.
It's also such a dilemma whether to tell friends that we're trying - I feel weirdly superstitious about it but it's so bloody lonely feeling like this. Anyone else?
Good luck and positive wishes to you all xxx

EmFlat · 08/07/2015 17:09

Hi Annie! Same symptoms for me this month ;) waves of nausea some mornings, dry mouth, really sensitive nips, and now a lack of normal LP mucus (soz, tmi).

Flo is due to arrive the day before I move house ;) based on last month. Bet the bitch does turn up as well, just to spite both our babymaking plans and my moving-house-with-ease plans! >_

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 17:25

Hi Annie welcome to our crazy symptom spotting group :) I totally get what you mean - googling symptoms is not the way to go!! We will hopefully give you some reassurance and support along the journey :)
Em you know what they say about new house, new baby... though I moved in April but seems my womb is still for rent!!
Not my day today, a colleague passed my desk and took one look at my comforting eating lunch (cheese, pastry, chocolate, crisps) and say 'Blimey, that's a concoction - are you pregnant??' Took all my strength to smile and chuckle weakly with a head shake rather than screaming 'No! I'm f*$@;£g not!!' throw the whole pile at her then run out of the room crying :(

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 17:28

Also Annie we chose not to tell people cos of the pressure and ppl constantly asking 'any luck?' it would drive me to distraction no matter how well meaning they are (plus my earlier comments about the look when they have to tell you they are pregnant)
It is isolating but that's why I'm here, somewhat anonymous (for all I know you are my next door neighbour!) but I've found it a good place to vent and get support :)

Everything Prty said and more ladies! And Annie - I hear ya, third month for me too. To add to the "fun", I am now a week late with all kinds of crazy symptoms (hellooo weird smelling wee, a stronger sense of smell than Lassie & I cried at a Nationwide advert last nite) - had two negative tests but where the frickin heck is AF?!
Can I jump on the bumpy (bump-free?) ride now too?!

bugista · 08/07/2015 18:10

Prty really annoys me when people make jokes like that - not v sensitive! Well done for not throwing your food on her!

I'm new too, helloo! :)

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 18:48

Godmother welcome aboard the ride! Those bumps feeling more like mountains today but positive thinking to ride out AF then I'm back on it (or back on him hahaha sorry!!)
Hi bugista welcome to our friendly little group of obsessive symptom spotters and friendly faces :) thanks too - I only managed not to throw the food cos it would have made me cry more to see chocolate wasted!!

Annie2311 · 08/07/2015 20:35

Ah, thanks all. It's good to have a place to share.

Good luck with the move Em! Hopefully it will bring other good news as well. I've just moved too which has lead to a really annoying influx of 'plenty of space for a family now' comments just to warn you!

I think you're right about not telling people PrtyPsn - I know that in the past when I've known friends are trying I just want to ask them how they're doing. Thanks for your wise words.

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 22:18

You'reore than welcome Annie I've seen it happen to family and friends where it becomes a monthly guessing game and my sister felt like she had to deliver the news of AF to everyone from our mum to the milkman lol
I do worry though when I get my BFP then everyone will be like but you don't want kids' and 'you weren't trying' will be the new war cry but it's gotta be better than the pressure while TTC, right!

Well af definitely here :( bit gutted but got to just think positive for next month

PrtyPsn · 08/07/2015 22:35

Aww big fat boo to that Neetie but you've got a few of us to keep you company next time around, lovely x

AlwaystheGodmother · 08/07/2015 22:50

Sorry to hear that Neetie, def here to support you too! Enjoy some booze while you can....
Hello too to Bug & Em, the lady who clearly doesn't do things by halves Smile

neetie1 · 08/07/2015 23:22

Well think I know why things didnt work this month.. OV dates were out not sure where I was looking on my period tracker app but I had me down to ovulate around the 27th but was actually the 24th .. Bit odd though as started ov kits on day 10 ( 22nd) but no surge was detected on the 24th ( supposed ov date) anyways didn't dtd until that weekend and after so would have been too late. Interestingly have put the app on my Samsung phone and both apps have different ov dates. iPad app says ov 22nd but phone app says 20th ...weird . Will order more ov tests and start testing as soon as at stops.

PrtyPsn · 09/07/2015 06:23

How bizarre! What app are you using? To be honest I use Clue which is more of a period tracker but because I tend to have one long cycle (34ish days) then a shortish cycle (27ish days) on alternating months it has just averaged me out to a 31 day cycle for every month (which I never have!) so my predicted fertile window isn't when it says and when my period takes longer or arrives quicker depending on the month the app then shifts my fertile window in accordance with AF which is too bloody late!! Investing in some decent OPK this month I think!

Annie2311 · 09/07/2015 07:25

Sorry to hear that Neetie it's just so frustrating isn't it. We're here for you. I agree with godmother, use this time to have a drink and unwind!

I'm using the My Days app but I don't think it's massively accurate or it could be that I only came off the pill a month before we started TTC so things might still be settling down. Any recommendations for an accurate app most welcome!

AlwaystheGodmother · 09/07/2015 07:37

I am using Period Tracker & had never considered it could be out or off - thanks for the heads up Neetie. Recommendations needed here too please! Now 8 days late & wondering whether to even bother POAS any more due to BFNs but just wish the bloody (literally) thing would arrive so we can give next month a shot.... Confused

PrtyPsn · 09/07/2015 07:47

Annie it took my body 11 months to fall back into some kind of rhythm after coming off the pill - it was POP though (Cerazette) and it seriously messed me up :(
Godmother when did you last test? Did you definitely ovulate this month?

OP posts:
AlwaystheGodmother · 09/07/2015 07:54

Well, I just did one with the first wee of the day - nice image huh? - and another BFN from a cheap Tesco stick. No idea if I def ovulated as not monitoring temps or using sticks, just checked for CM & Period Tracker suggests I am 18DPO. Can you hear the sounds of the straws I was clutching falling to the floor?! Wouldn't mind but have so many symptoms. Do I waste the docs time or just sit it out? I wanna just move on but no AF making it so hard on spite of the blank windows I keep staring at!!
